Service was really good and the atmosphere at this place is super cool. The place is located in a dope neighborhood too. There’s some street parking next to the shop but if you can’t find parking there you can park a little further and just walk. As far as food goes, I got one of each of the donuts except for the maple + bacon, got the Oreo donut holes, and got the Cinnamon Toast Crunch latte. The latte wasn’t anything special and I probably wouldn’t get it again. The oreo donut holes were probably the best thing that I got. Go with the 6 count since that’s the right amount of flavor without getting flavor fatigue. As far as the donuts go, I wasn’t a fan of most of them unfortunately. I think the flavor was just missing in most of them. The ones that I liked were the brown butter + salt, the chocolate cake donut, and the vegan blueberry crumble. It was worth trying but don’t think I’d come back for anything except the Oreo donut holes.
Not much of a donut person I prefer certain cakes & pies. But I decided to venture outside of my comfort zone. I ordered two donuts the horchata & blueberry.Horchata: Rich & Decadent with a soft, fluffy texture to the donut. It was very deliciousBlueberry: Smaller in size than I anticipated especially for the price. ($3.95) It contained a smokey flavor after a few chews that threw me off. The granola was soft instead of crunchy that was sorta of a disappointment. I had envisioned a completely different taste experience for this donut then what I received.Customer Service: A+Parking: n/a...I dont know if they actually have parking, as I parked across the street. All in all $8.88, for two specialty items that werent amazing, but stood their ground.
I’ve been to Salty Donut twice so far. I was excited when this place was opening because I have a separate stomach for donuts and this place was walking distance from my apartment. You can tell there’s definitely thought out into the construction of the donuts. They have elevated touches, great combinations, and don’t just throw candy on a donut and call it “gourmet”.My only disappointment is with the dough. They claim a 24hr brioche dough but I don’t taste the heft or lusciousness that I would expect from brioche. I thought it was possibly a new business still working out its kinks in the beginning, but my second visit (plus free donuts my complex has given away from them), the dough was still the same. It’s tough, dense, and lacks in flavor. My biggest praise for them is concept, options, rotating menu, and size for the price. Donuts range from $2.75-4.50 and they are massive! They definitely look like showstopper donuts. Aside from the yeast donuts, the cake donut I had was PHENOMENAL. The brown butter + salt donut was one of the best cake donuts I’ve had in the metroplex. Kudos to them and I hope to see them churn out more fun flavors!
There isnt enough space to elaborate...these are unique, delicious, gourmet artisan donuts! We sampled six different donuts.... lovely outdoor patio area. You will not be disappointed!
Counter-service high-end donut shop with indoor seating and out. Excellent donuts, easily split able between two people (good for dates). Coffee, tea, adult beverages also available at reasonable prices. Nice touch with the self-serving still and sparkling water in the back. Expect about $3 to $5 per donut; one should be more than plenty. Can recommend.
Like the last standing good men in the world, the best donuts ain’t always available here. So make sure you take your bite EARLY in the morning and don’t wait on no coffee to kick in either honey cause their COFFEE is amazing, too!!!! Quit your crying about the hardships in life and head on over to this place for a life changing experience 😭 The passion fruit donut had me feeling like the whole world paused for me to taste that piece of heaven.
The vegan donut I had was to die for! The coffee with oat milk was wonderful, too. Really rich tasting. Only drawback is that the coffee cup is so small. I paid $4 for it and it was so tiny I went back for another. Another $4 to get enough coffee. I dont think it would break the restaurant to have slightly bigger cups. But overall a great place and I will be back.
A must! Wonderful donuts and not that sweet so that makes it incredible for us. Tiramisu donut is to die for. Give it a try!
The restaurant is very cute. It is clean, attractively decorated and the structure of service is clear and satisfactory to the customers. Service was friendly and fast. The donuts were delicious. We ordered the churro, Texas sheet cake, strawberry short cake, and chocolate whoopie pie. The churro and chocolate whoopie pie donuts are filled with cream and the strawberry short cake has vanilla sponge cake in the middle. We will definitely be coming back and bring family and friends here.
Sadly, gourmet craft donuts can often be dry but this was not the case here. These donuts were so moist, soft, and fluffy. I did feel like they’re were maybe $1 too much. That wouldn’t necessarily stop me from coming though. I also tried their coffee and while it was good, it wasn’t anything spectacular. Staff was nice and friendly. Overall, definitely worth a visit and a great place to show off to your visitors!
Huge fan of The Salty from Miami, FL! Visiting Dallas for work. Amazing donuts and coffee as alway!
I went in earlier today and purchased 3 different donuts and they were all nasty like horrible no flavor what’s so ever and they almost tasted like they were old I’ll never return. They are very pretty donuts and I’ve been following on IG and finally was close by to give them a try but was very disappointed the latte was even bad the worst sober $20
Super cute place. The website will not work and the custom orders need to be placed at least a week in advance if you want them to respond. I wish I could have enjoyed this local donut store but unfortunately if you are coming from out of state or town, and try to place an order it is very difficult and you will have to go with another specialty place like hypnotic donuts that has faster turn around times.
Love the coffee here! The vanilla bean latte is consistently awesome and I recently tried the maple brown sugar cold brew. It was, as the kids say, Bussin!. My only critique is the vegan donut program. My gf loves the specials they do and change regularly but we both agree that wed be more satisfied with a simple vegan glazed donut/donut holes. Just a thought! Big fans!
This is a very nice spot - nice vibes! It’s hard decide whether to eat inside or outside.. both are adorable! So many options for donuts but I settled on horchata & a maple & bacon donut. Both were pretty yummy! Will try more another time. I also tried their cold brew with lemonade and it was surprisingly delish to me - you could taste both coffee & lemonade! Yum! Great space to hang out - I loved it. Staff was very nice & helpful! Clean store too!!
Highly recommend this place for delicious donuts! The Brown Butter + Salt donut was our favorite with the Oatmeal Pie donut taking a close 2nd place. Cant wait till we go back for more!Left to Right: Oatmeal Cream Pie, Chocolate Whoopie Pie, Cookies and Cream Cake, Brown Butter + Salt, TX Chocolate Sheet Cake Donut, Salt, and Baked Coconut Macaroon
Great experience here! I loved the vibe from The Salty Donut so much! This is one of those places in better times I would love to hangout and enjoy their donuts over some of their great coffee. Dont skip over the matcha tea because they make it the right way (with that little tea whisk)! From just visiting, they have a strict attention to detail for their products. Definitely recommend and I will be back.
I am always blown away with the variety and quality of their donuts. Also love that they are located in Bishop Arts, so we can take a quick stroll around the area afterwards.Included below are flavors I got to try multiple times: - My favorite is always the Brown Butter + Salt. I just love how buttery the dough is, and the salt balanced it nicely! - I’m obsessed with the Oreo + Almond Butter! I am an Oreo fanatic and do have a huge sweet tooth, so it might be a bit sweet for others but perfect to me.- I truly need a full-sized (Mini) Lemon Whip!! From the lemon curd, the shortbread cookie crumbs to the lemon chip on top... it was just a perfect combo. - The Guava + Cheese definitely delivers its name, with a strong guava + cream cheese oozing out of the donut 😍 - The Maple + Bacon was not my favorite mostly because I’m not a fan of the maple bacon combo in general...- The Oatmeal Whoopie Pie stood out the least to me, and I also felt like it was too sweet!Follow me on IG @smallbites.bigappetite for more!
I love they stays open until 6pm and have a great selection of pastries. Its great they dont run out of pastries by noon...like the rest of the coffee shops in the Bishop Arts Distict.
The place is so cute!! The staff was very inviting and friendly. The donuts were delicious Strawberry shortcake & Mango mini pie were my favorites. My kids loved the chocolate cake and the churro star. Definitely recommend and my kids will make sure we return. Thank you Salty Donut staff, everything was great!!
Very nice place. I had a very nice cashier, she was new and very helpful and read all the ingredients on the list for each donut. I loved that she took the time to do this with me, especially since it was my first time in the area. I like the restaurant and the fact that theres many hand sanitiser dispensers available. This pandemic is driving one crazy with all the antimaskers and anti-vaxxers. Its nice to see a place where they offer this. The place is very clean and has a nice industrial feel to it. Ill definitely come back.
Long anticipated this place opening in my neighborhood! Convenient pick up, yummy flavors. Not your “typical” donut. The brioche is fresh and yummy. Expect it to be much more “bready” than your typical yeast donut. The cake was a perfect consistency of some crunch on the outside and soft inside. We tried 6 different flavors. My only critique is the grapefruit curd inside the lone star donut was mere drips, barely got a taste for the curd and was mostly just bread. Favorites were brown butter and bourbon sweet tea. Will be coming back!!*edit after a few more visits: changing from 4 to 5 stars. If you don’t follow Salty Donut on social media, I advise you do. They keep you coming back with frequent enticing flavor changes. They just get better and better. We are officially obsessed!!
As you can see I didn’t take the best pics lol That’s because i couldn’t help but grab and eat when I saw them. They are so yummy. They are thick. Like this is a big donut. I thought I was only paying for quality but you get a bang for you buck. Also though my brother picked them up he said the story was beautiful. He got the donuts right on time. The huge plus is they have a parking lot! It’s awesome when you can eat out in that area and they have one. Also they are just a solid company, with morals. What are you waiting for! Go!Trip two: Parking lot is behind off the Main Street. The horchata was a hit. In general they are just really good at donuts. The cinnamon roll wasn’t my favorite but donuts were top notch. Go get them! Place is beautiful also.
The Salty Donut is a known heavy hitter in Miami and Wynwood but as the new kid on the block I’d put it up against any of DFW’s current top doughnut spots carb for carb! A much anticipated addition to the already strong Bishop Arts scene, bring your sweet tooth and a friend and don’t leave without trying the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Latte!
I saw someone I know post about these donuts and decided to give them a try because the donuts looked amazing! As others said, the place is cute, staff was friendly and the donuts are esthetically beautiful. The flavors offered are great and tasty but...the donuts are very dense and thick. They are massive and you can feel the weight of them when you pick one up. I was really sad because I really wanted to love them. Really wish they were lighter, more flakey and a bit more airy. Still glad I gave them a try.Update - I warmed them up and it definitely helped with density factor and overall taste of the donuts. Game changer!
Absolutely Amazenuts! Happy National Donut Day to me!!!🥳🥳 Had the pleasure to stop in for a couple, few donut selections. While this was a first visit, it will not be the last. Very pleased to find parking on the street, even when it started to rain. Although, I stepped in a puddle, it did not damper my joy. Immediately ordered as it only took 6 minutes before my name was called for pickup. Lots of people in a small space, but the Thirst was real. These donuts are absolutely fantastical. Im so happy for this discovery. I drove 30 minutes, just to satisfy my wants. The French Toast Donut did not disappoint. This is an exclusive donut for today, but what a winner!!! I also grabbed the Oreo Holes and the Blueberry pancake one, so Im excited to try much later. All expectations met.
This review is long overdue but I would just like to say I received the absolute best customer service from this Salty Donut location! I ordered some birthday donuts for my wife back in October and there was unfortunately a mix up with the order, so it ended up not getting made. Because of the mix-up, they refunded my order, gave me a dozen donuts of my choice for free, and also gave me a $25 gift card. AND on top of all of that, the manager gave me a call to apologize and even offered to help us out for any future needs. I definitely appreciated the great customer service and especially the great tasting donuts 🤤🤤🤤
The donuts are so good !! It’s not your typical donut. They are a bit on the high end however they are so well worth it. Place is clean, employees are nice and service is fast. My favorite is the guava cheese donut so yummy.
Delicious donuts! They all sounded good, but we went with these four. The lonestar (grapefruit filled) was my favorite of the four. A close tie was the brown sugar - melts in your mouth. Closely followed by the jalapeno; a nice kick smoothed out with the cream cheese. I would skip the peach cobbler donut; not bad but not great and I love peaches.
These doughnuts are HUGE! Could have been warmed up a touch(for my liking)Was still delicious. Would recommend
Service was fast and my order was delicious, but the lady with the gold cap was on her phone while taking my order, felt like I couldn’t ask my questions.
Customizable donuts with over 50 options on how to build it? Count me in. All you had to tell me was how fun and innovative this business was and Id have been here sooner. I loved it and will be back.
I’ve been going to this place for a while, but I’m slowly getting fed up with this place. This is the second time this incident has happened. I ordered the one-day only donut at 8:00am the day of and requested pickup time just before closing at 5:55pm. I pay for it and get emailed confirmation. I get to the shop at 5:55pm and they sold my donut to someone else! They claim that they didn’t know about my order until it was sold out. I drove all the way from Fort Worth for nothing! Absolutely ridiculous. After the first time this happened, a regional manager reached out and advised that this would not happen again…. Well it certainly did! Management clearly doesn’t care about bettering the processes and systems they have in place. Now the regional manager isn’t even responding to me anymore…. Really says a lot about how they operate.
Flan & Guava donut is amazing! Only complaint isn’t about donuts at all.. it’s the small coffee cups : price.
The donuts are so good, not your typical donuts! Really tasty and filling. Add a cappuccino and you’ll have the best day ever!
Really enjoyed that the donus were not cloyingly sweet. Tried the churro, Texas sheet cake and tiramisu. Also tried the macchiato and cinammon toast crunch latte. We took a bag of their medium roast whole bean coffee to enjoy at home. Overall love the vibe! Bonus points for still and sparkling water on tap. Aesthetic points for the bathroom and outdoor fire pit. Youll enjoy your experience here!
Ambience is fun if not a bit loud to work from. Killer outdoor patio and ample parking compared to other places around. Could do with a refill option on iced tea.
Their churro donuts and strawberry shortcake are so delicious. Staff is quick and efficient. I enjoy this donut shop.
Just go try try it! There are no words to describe the deliciousness 9f their donuts!
Went 2 times, 1st on opening week, where I was not impressed by taste but by the photogenic doughnuts. I was also shocked that they dont sell guava & cheese here since this area was predominantly Hispanic before gentrification. On my 2nd try I had strawberry, and it was amazing, guess they had some taste issues to work out at the beginning, which is normal. Overall great place, taste now good, but guava & cheese missing from an area rich in culture that convents this flavor is very very odd.
Very discriminatory. Lack of choices, but that may have been part of the discrimination. Plenty of choices laid out in the open but only two available. Also out of an entire menu, only a coke and diet coke left for drinks. Add a sprinkle of a rude staff. I was excited because we heard the name from someone and the name sounded great, but there is such thing as TOO sweet. So after dealing with all that, I ate half the doughnut before having to throw it out. Might as well find a dull Dunkin doughnuts.
Best donuts I’ve ever tried!! So moist and soft, so many good unique flavors! The place is so cute and they have so much room for lounge and hangouts!
I know I am the minority in thinking this place isnt that great. The donuts are very dense due to it being brioche, which is not how I like my donuts I figured out. I have had just brioche buns before, which is very light, but I guess in donut form, they are quite dense. If you want light and airy donuts, this is not the place for you. The toppings and favors of each donut I purchased was good, and the donuts are very beautiful to look at. The ambiance of the place and the staff are very friendly and nice. I just didnt dig the donuts. I think Voodoo donuts in Austin does the maple bacon donut better.
The donuts here are pretty awesome and I liked the special variations they had available and the gluten free corn and buttercream donut was a lot better than I expected. The best gluten free donut Ive had for sure. The vegan one was alright too. Never had a vegan donut but it was also better than I thought, considering how vegan versions are usually pretty gross. The shop was pretty cool too, lots of outside shaded space to socially distance eat and hang out after breakfast and coffee(they serve Intelligentsia coffee which is very high quality to say the least). Its definitely a high-brow version of your classic donut shop, and the prices show it, but if you go in expecting that, it takes the edge off of it all feeling pretty pretentious. Thats just me though. Def coming back !
If you review this its a doughnut shop and its the best in the world
Yummy donuts! but can you please bring back the corn donuts? :(
This place was a stunner for variety of unique donuts.. most them were yummy! They have year round and rotating flavors. and yeah do try their hot chocolate- it’s the best!!
Great donuts. Pricey.3 donuts+3drip coffees = $24.00Charged an extra $1.25 for adding cream to coffee. ($4.50).
These are worth the trip. We got 5 flavors and loved them all. The Strawberry Shortcake and Horchata were our favorites.
If you want big, fluffy donuts, this is the place! Loved the horchata donut and even tried the maple bacon. I would’ve gone back for seconds on everything!
Amazing doughnuts! Please bring back the Guava and cheese and the Corn doughnuts =(
Great atmosphere!Great service!GREAT DONUTS!!!
The picture is on my other phone but trust me this place was phenomenal. The service was great and the donuts were very decadent
The chocolate sheet cake donut is delicious! Order online a variety and share.
I was one of the winner’s of their give away. The donuts were great. My favorite is the one in the middle of the back row. Great staff and service.
Beautiful display! Plentiful seating. Donuts were fresh and flavorful. Absolutely will be going back soon!
Mango coconut croughnut & guava and cheese donuts!!!
