This store is amazing not only with it’s wide variety of fish both freshwater and saltwater and also its helpful, knowledgeable and kind workers. Terry has been super helpful to us as well as Janet and they are both more then happy to answer questions and offer expertise from their years of experience. I can’t say enough wonderful things about Exotic World Pets and their staff. Thank you for making our aquarium hobby a wonderful experience!

Well so far so good. Had found it on Facebook on Chicago fish hobbyist and Im just learning that theyre new from thats what threw me off as a bucket list to come here today. Surprisingly some of the sales people were from past aquarium places I go from Chicago and some parts of the suburbs since they other places had clothes or they just decided to leave. The 2 pet shops were Scotts Pets which was in Westchester, IL and Downers Grove, IL when they relocated on Ogden then they closed for business as well as a person from Oak Park Natural Pets in Oak Park, IL who moved over here and some older old school pet shops like Grand aquarium in Chicago in the 1980s up to early 2000s. Anyways had to make it as a bucket list and they have a really good healthy selection so far being fairly new if youre willing to travel to Darien, IL. Great selection so far being new.

Really fun place to go to see cool animals you may have never seen before! Also enjoy their selection of dog and cat treats you cant find anywhere else

Old school pet shop, loved this place. The employees were AWESOME. The stars were the Hyacinth Macaws. Super friendly, super cool. It a new store adding new stuff weekly. I highly recommend a visit.

Ive been looking for a specific tarantula, and Janet has been so helpful. I highly recommend working with her if youre looking for a new little buddy! We didnt find what I wanted yet, but shes with me on the hunt! JANET is awesome and definitely deserves some serious props. Thanks lady!

I appreciate that you moved your ferrets to a better location and for that I have changed your rating. I still believe the birds could be in a bigger cage but maybe thats also on the horizon. The store is always clean and staff friendly.

Stopped in not too long ago and was given some great advice that you cant get from big block chain stores. It worked out great and the results are stunning!!! Definitely worth a visit if youre seeking knowledge from people who actually care and are invested in their profession.

Cool store with a good selection of fresh snf salt water fish along with birds and some reptiles.

It was fine till I seen the cages the parrots were in, way to small for macaws and not enough things to keep them occupied its very sad how people will have parrots and not know anything about them.

An absolutely amazing store! So clean and very friendly staff. My partner and I frequent small business pet shops all around the Chicagoland area and surrounding suburbs and honestly this is the best one we have found! They are new but completely open to getting anything you need. Prices are fair and animals appear to be very well kept. We are very excited to come back as regulars!

Really wide variety of animals from rare birds to BEAUTIFUL snakes to unique fish. Also, even the newest worker was very honest about the animals personalities, 10/10 can trust

We found Exotic World pets a year ago during the initial lock down due to Covid. Thank god pet stores were deemed essential because we had a filter malfunction and needed one ASAP. 6 fish tanks, 2 pythons, 2 tarantulas, and 2 turtles, later we visit the pet store more than the grocery store. We also get our dog food here along with feeder fish and live or frozen rodents for snakes. Crickets too. Also heat bulbs for the turtles and heat mats for the snakes. Almost everything you need for any pet you have. I always see an impressive variety of pets come through this store and it is always very clean with healthy residents. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable as you can tell they are experienced and really care about these animals. The hours of operation are accommodating to any busy schedule. As long as I have pets and money, I will be shopping here.

Great selections on fish, (salt & fresh water) birds, (macaws to parakeets) rabbits, guinea pigs & of course reptiles & spiders. Lots of toys, decorations, feed, litter. Im looking forward to seeing what else they will add in the future. They also can take care of special orders.

The smell of urine was very strong. The bird cages are not large enough.

This place was a disaster. The owner was extremely rude. They were going to put 18 axolotls in 2, 10 gallon tanks. Mind you I am an axolotl breeder. I was going to sell him some of mine but no. Please please do your research on axolotls before buying them. He doesn’t do it right. We walked around and it’s very overcrowded. Dead fish and dead frogs. Very disappointed.

Very nice variety of aquatics and animal related supplies, mostly fish and saltwater tank items. They have some beautiful avian specimens available as well.

Blown away by what they have . Anything and Everything to tickle the right nerve of a child to that of a grey beard. This store is worth a visit. The name speaks for itself stock of exotic fishes and the Birds . Well maintained, reasonably priced and amazing attitude or the owner. Felt very welcome at the store and am sure going to be a returning customer even though its 32 miles one way from home.

The men on the phone was very helpful! Even though the bird I wanted wasn’t in his store. He gave me another place!

Today was our first time at this store and it was wonderful!! Everyone in the staff is so friendly and they had great customer service. They were able to answer every question we had ( with no attitude or annoyed faces like at petco or petsmart ) and they were very knowledgeable with everything. We will defiantly keep coming here for all our fish needs!!!

Exotic world pets, has great service along with a great selection of different pets and supplies. I recently purchased a blue-eyed white lionhead rabbit from them is perfect health conditions. Was very responsive to phone calls and even texted me photos of the rabbits before purchase. Thanks so much exotic world.

The staff is passionate about all animals and little critters. We recently bought a two month old guinea pig who the store received from a breeder. The staff was so helpful with giving tips to my family of how to properly raise a guinea pig. They let my daughter take out the guinea pig she chose to get to know her. The staff loved how excited my daughter was and helped her become more excited. You will not find the knowledge and passion for animals at larger stores that you will find at Exotic World. Ignore negative reviews about Exotic World. These reviews are covering up for mistakes made by the buyers😖 Exotic World was my daughter’s first experience with taking a pet home. It will be one she will always remember!

Cute store, prices are definitely high. What worries me is the care of the ferret. In a fish tank, in the front window where its extremely warm. Also eating mazuri rodent pellets. Not sure what else was mixed in maybe Fromm food, but the one lone baby has been screaming the entire 10 minutes I wandered around.

I called to ask if they had item in stock. They said yes. I arrived but in fact they didn’t. Will never go back. Just say no if you don’t. That’s a way better way to treat a customer.

Beautiful shop, clean and animals are well taken care of. Hard to get people to answer the phone sometimes though. Also they need to up their game on live pinky mice and dubias roaches. Almost everytime I check with them they are out of stock
