My children and I love foreign hole-in-the-wall grocery stores, and Far East Center is no exception! They have a huge selection of Asian fares, and lots of Mexican as well. I even saw German vanilla sugar! We love the adventure of finding something new to try, and are never disappointed. It’s not the snazziest spot in town, but we love supporting small family stores, and ensuring that our community has the opportunity to eat a variety of amazing Asian cuisines.
Was very pleasantly surprised! Well stocked and well organized. Was looking for some very specific ingredients and staff was very helpful. Was also surprised at the extensive selection of Latin foods! This is a regular on my shopping trips to Dayton!
Love this place, the people are very happy to help, prices are good, if you havent been there your missing a great little store.
I love the selection of east Asian and pacific island products here. The place is huge and there are 2 sides. I always load of on snacks and produce but they have so much more
Went b/c of the great reviews, very excited to go, but as soon as i stepped foot in the entrance, i was hit with an overwhelming smell of decaying produce mixed with old fish. Im no prude to smell, but my gag reflex kicked up.it was awful. i went in ike 30 steps, and had to run out. Maybe I went on a bad day.
Nice store with a lot of good stuff from snacks and ingredients to dinner ware and cooking equipment.
Carry most Asian products . Very good .
I love this place. It has everything that you will need to create all kinds of amazing dishes. From pork belly, thinly sliced lamb, a variety of fresh & frozen seafood, ranging from squid to lobster, dumplings, Thai Basil, bok choy, variety of noodles… I could go on & on, bottom line, I love shopping here. The staff is very helpful when you have any questions to help your find that special ingredient. The store is very well organize and clean. I shop here often & I just want to say thank you.Best Regards,“A loyal Customer”
Authentic. Fresh and frozen produce you can’t find in regular stores could possibly be found within. Great fresh and frozen seafood. And a decent butcher. I bought a roasted duck for less than 22 bucks and the nice clerk even butchered it for me, even saved the grease! Large selection of ramen and noodles.
A great place to find my Asian food staples.
Well stocked Asian market that you might miss if youre walking through the area. Fresh produce and fish and anything else you can think of!
The have lots of different Asian grocery items for a decent price
One of the best, if not the best Asian market here in Dayton. It has any spice you might need, decent vegetables and a large freeze section.
Good selection and reasonable prices
Die seafood Smell bad.
Great service and great variety!I needed to get mushrooms for a recipe and there were at least 5 different kinds all at amazing prices! The produce is very fresh and tasty, there are very many different snacks there, and they have great food from the buffet next door! I will definitely come again and again! The cashier was very kind and very helpful!
Great selection, great prices very efficient and friendly staff. Note, you need to have at least 20.00 in purchases to use a card. As a small businesses, the transaction fees from the card issuers have a real impact on them.
Oops!!! To many expired food, and they try to cover the dates.
Its good to have international food market, though theres not much competition, still good to have available near town.
They had what I was looking for! No frills but what you need.
Good as always for me. But that just me, I dont know how it for everyone else.✌
Lots of selections! Best dessert! Great location!
Went to this business to try and buy some Gochujang, but the person at the check out was rude, so we went to another Asian food store in Fairborn, and it was delightful. The store in Fairborn was much cleaner, and the staff was much more accommodating.
Cashier always rude. Never smile or say hi to the customers. She told the pregnant woman to unload the basket and put away by herself.
Love the Far East Center - always the best and widest selection available in our area.
If you enjoy tofu fish and Asian Cuisine, then this place is a must ! Fresh variety of healthy, youthfulness invoking international vegetables, like Burdock root which is a powerhouse of Antioxidants including quercetin, luteolin, and phenolic acids. The Far East Center also have a nice selection of cakes and frozen treats ! Its a must try I recommend paying a visit.
Keeps a great stock of everything
Far East Center is mainly a Chinese market and has a very good selection on asian ingredients for the Dayton area. You can get rice, soy sauce, fish sauce, all kinds of sauces, noodles, instant ramen, fresh groceries, meat, fish, asian snacks, etc. This place has the best selection for asian food in Dayton.
Food was not very appetizing. My son made me go here, I usually go to Asian Buffet Miller lane and will continue to go to Asian..server took forever to refill our water as well smh
Speaking as an old white guy, I love this place. They have a remarkable variety of Asian products: sauces, pastes and condiments in great variety. The Thai soups and currys are wonderful. Spices are well priced second-to-none locally. Great selection of fresh items.
I come here for my rice, all seafood which has the best value, and nikomans!!
Great asian grocery where you can find everything from Banana Ketchup to authentic woks
Get all my Asian needs here from 50lb bags of rice to soy sauce to about 25 different varieties of Ramen that is miles better than the maruchan Ramen you see in American stores. Great selection, prices not bad and has all your staples! Highly recommend to check it out!
I like it it was my first visit decent prices also I will be returning...
CHARGING 3% SURGE CHARGE ON CREDIT CARD PURCHASE ITS UNHEARD OF IN GROCERY BUSINESS.Plus a 50 cents if you buy less than 20$ on top of the 3% what a rip-offPlace is dirty and the owner is the person who checks you out, she does not acknowledge your presence.Very disappointed.
Love this place! So many options of food and really awesome dishes. Fresh food and fish was amazing! So many options! I will come back and will be a regular.
Good food and supplies for Asian diets. Well organized, but has a bit of a shady atmosphere. Still, worth checking out!
Authentic, authentic, authentic is all i can say. Looking to make your favorite Asian, Chinese, Cambodian, Vietnamese or other oriental style meal then come here for your ingredients. Fresh foods with a vast range of styles to choose from. If you cant find you cookbook or YouTube ingredients here something is wrong. Come and make your favorite dishes now!
Great products, great customer service!
What a gem! Just about anything you are looking for can be found here Try the roast duck! All the supplies and sauces you can imagine. Lots of unique beverages, veggies, and noodle dishes.
Too small. Not enough variety
So happy they are back open !!! The staff got your food for you from.the buffet and all of them were very kind and happy to help out
Large supply of ingredients, spanning what appears to be most far east countries. I am NOT an expert, but my impression was that anything dry was fine, as were very fresh items. However, the fermented glutenous rice, for instance, had thicker/lower fluid than Im used to seeing in the brand. I enjoyed the walk through the (larger than expected) store and what I purchased in my visit seems good.
Very extensive variety of authentic Asian food items. Very Impressive.
Love this place.. Good selection nice people
Nice man
Only stopped to get seaweed snacks today but they sell everything asian food oriented. They even have live fish in tanks. Lots of dried and fresh foods. They sell dishes. The first time I went in I was making something that called for asian cooking wine and black soy sauce. If you are looking for hard to find ingredients this is where you need to be. And you will always save money as opposed to buying these ingredients in a regular grocery store. They also have fresh coconuts. Nice store.
East Asian Grocery Store. Wow serious seafood selection.
If you are looking for any type of Asian groceries this is ghe place. Great selection of fresh veggies, frozen as well as fresh fish in tanks.Great prices, huge and i mean huge selection of groceries. If your looking for Thai groceries they have it here.
They have a wide range of specialized products like Japanese candy and vegetables and other cooking ingredients. I found an awesome cleaver there that is great for butchery and easily chops through joints and bone. Whats even better is they sell a nice sharpening stone too. Not only do they sell ingredients but they also have full tea sets, plates, and party supplies. It is a one stop shop for sure!
Very interesting place, I love there baby bokchoy. I would give 5 stars if they had better quality tea and some tea ware.
Authentic Asian market with a wide variety of produce and seafood. Huge inventory of exotic imported packaged food. An interesting break from the routine if youre in the area.
Friendly staff, great selection. Fresh produce, and seafood among a vast selection of other goods. Highly recommend.
They have alot of different foods. They have foods that you couldnt find in a regular grocery store. The employees are very polite and willing to help you find what your looking for.
The best place for your Oriental food needs. I have been coming here for years and it is still my go-to place. Everything is very reasonably priced as well.
This is one of the larger Asian groceries in Dayton. They have a wide range of fresh produce, fresh fish, herbs, and staple pantry goods. Highly recommended!
Ok
Well stocked variety of delicious food. Will definitely go back. Staples, fresh veggies, fish etc, helped make our Chinese Hot Pot celebration a big success.
Only one cashier, long lines
Cheaper than going to jungle jims
Im so happy that my mother-in-law found this place. I mentioned to her that we use sweet potato noodles a lot, but I hadnt yet found a place that sold them up here in Dayton. Only a couple days later she found Far East Center. Yay!I was so happy not only to find sweet potato noodles at a decent price, but also cassava flour!! This stuff usually sells for more than $8 for a one pound bag. But here its only $1.99!We will definitely be shopping here on a regular basis!
Pretty good. Please order guyabano drinks! Just a Filipino favorite! xoxo
I love this place because its a FILIPINO market, whi doesnt like to see the wonders from the Philippines, dragon fruit, cocunuts, seafood, candy, mochi, and ingredients for other foods. This is a paradise market to me.
Had a lamp but selection on line far better
A really good market for all your Asian essentials! Its really standard and a nice place to get things that you wouldnt find in normal grocery stores which Im pleased to find here! Although it could be a bit more organized, but thats my only complaint
Go-to-place for more extravegent items not found in smaller Asian markets, however this place is relatively messy/dirty (didnt help that we saw a patron spit on the floor while waiting in line...)
Ive been shopping here since childhood, and its always been the go to for Asian groceries at a reasonable price.
There’s always something new to try out here as well as hard to find items. Worth spending the time walking every aisle.
Not very big but have good selection of items. I needed lime leaves for curry & found there.Edited to add: I went the other day and realized if you turn right at the door, there is a whole other section of the market!!
Always have what I need and cool other stuff too. We always find something fun and interesting when we visit. Been going here for over 10 years.
Its a small asian store but you can buy good stuff. They have frozen fish, meat, squid also live crabs. Its not so clean and at the back part where frozen stuff are located smells stinky.
When I first moved here. It was questionable about buying there. that was 8 years ago. Over the years they had gotten better products, amounts on hand. Offered quality brands throughout the store. Just growing better and better. Brighter store, extremely helpful. They have even taught me a few things that most would not do. Great Family owned business. I dont have to wish them good fortune. They are on that path to it.
Great food
Love the all you can eat crab legs and their reasonable prices
An awesome Asian grocery store with tons of options, fresh fish, sushi-grade fish, and unique foods.
I like several products here, however I usually dont get products that are fresh or frozen, maybe someday Ill try more products. But this is a great place to get dried products and good canned items, kitchen utensils. Watch the prices on items and what they ring up as sometimes they differ.
Good place to shop for Asian foods
I think I’ve been going to this market for twenty years. In that time, they have had the same friendly owners and also expanded their store so that their selection is huge. They have mostly groceries (including live seafood in back) but also household items and Asian home decor. The snack selection is great! I think Michelle is Chinese but she imports products from all over Asia, so you probably don’t have to worry about not finding what you are looking for. My family is Thai and she has all the familiar Thai ingredients that we use regularly for cooking. There is also a decent sized selection of Mexican ingredients. Most importantly, over the years this store has provided one of the best and most consistent selections of produce of all the Asian groceries in the area. My mom has always sent me here for the veggies she needs for Thai noodle soup and now that I’m moving to Kettering, I’m going to be going there regularly for that, as well as ingredients for shabu shabu!
Best place I have been in my entire life. Great selection, found everything that I needed.
I love this placeJust have time to look around. Great snacks, beverages and more! Lead your taste buds on an adventure.
A large Asian store. Has everything I was looking for. Will probably return to find my Asian ingredients if I cant find one closer to where I live. If youve never been to an Asian store/market, this is what the typical one looks/smells like. There is no minimal purchase for using a credit card but if you transaction is low enough, they will charge you a small fee for using a credit/debit card.
This is my new favorite Asian grocery in the Dayton area. Clean and well stocked and their selection and variety is amazing. Prices are good too.
I would not recommend shopping here, but if you have too and wanted to check it out for yourself, here are a few tips: Check all expired dated on your purchase items; Dont buy frozen food, especially frozen meat and seafood products, they are most likely expired and retagged: Know the price of each item you purchase and watch the cashier, otherwise you will be overcharge; Save your receipt or check everything prior to leaving to make sure they charge you right; There is also an Asian grocery store just half mile down the road you can also check out. And lastly, dont bother talking to the guy owner, he has the worst customer service and very rude, the girl cashier may be a little nicer.
I used to live in Atlanta and moved here for my job and was delighted to find an Asian store as we love to cook Chinese food. Came in the first time and saw this little woman at the cashier and she never say hi to us, we kind of smile and went to get some noodle and veggies. Went over to the fish/meat counter and asked a couple of questions about the fish and how to prepare it, boy were we in for a surprise, the guy just say he doesnt know and ignored us from that point. Turned out the guy was the owner and husband of of the woman at the cashier. How do you run a business with an attitude like that, well if he keeps up with that kind of attitude, he will run the business to the ground. We never came back, now we just go over to the store down the road.
Loved that they had a variety of items. Everybody were friendly and helpful
These ladies have stuff you normally have to have to visit Asia just to TRY right there on the shelves! The staff was very friendly and helpful! (Even if we had to go to the back room to find someone who wasnt trapped behind a register in order to help us. (But I think that was because we came in near closing time...) They took us right to what we were looking for with only a middling quality description of what we actually wanted, (its not really easy to describe if you dont know the lingo, kind of a rice-&-bean-paste-dumpling that you boil in a leaf wrapping which doubles as a takeout container to eat it out of...?), anyway, the lady who helped us knew exactly what we meant and showed us right where they were in the frozen section: they even had a special desert kind mom hasnt been able to get since she was stationed in Japan 40 years ago! Apparently, the quality of frozen imports doesnt measure up to freshly made though, or maybe her tastes have changed over the years: she didnt like it when she tried it again. She loves the pork and bean-paste savory ones though, but she says they are Chinese and she didnt have anything like that in Japan... My advice is: if you like it from the Far East Center, dont try it fresh in Asia, or it might be ruined for you at home!Anyway, the place is about as clean as you can get a grocery store that was built in the 80s, theres just no way to scrub out some of the most tenacious grime eventually because the grime itself is a Bible-paper thin layer of contaminated CLEANING CHEMICALS, and how do you scrub up the stuff you use to scrub up things when it itself becomes what you have to scrub up? Oh, sure, there are specific chemicals just for that, but eventually, those stopped working too, and when that happens the BIG stores do remodeling and just remove everything but the structure itself. Little places like the Far East Center might get to replace the old floor tiles slightly more often than once a decade if their doing good business: they cant afford to rip out walls and checkout lanes and throw away shelves because theyve acquired a perfectly harmless layer of strife* as the people in the cleaning trade call it. No mice, rats, bats, raccoons (you only have to run into a couple of the trash-pandas in a hole-in-the-wall-grocery unexpectedly ONCE before you start mentioning their absence specifically...), cats, or dogs. Lots of live crabs, lobster, and smaller edible fish/shellfish, but its a grocery, that comes with the territory if they are a decent establishment, and they all were in their tanks with their little claws rubberbanded from what I saw. (The crustaceans anyway, bivalves and fish dont have claws... [Or if they DO I dont want to know about it: and you probably should call a zoologist...])*(The stuffs basically a type of antibacterial soap that wont dissolve for love or money [short of acids that would dissolve the shelf too, anyway], nothing harmful to humans can survive in close proximity to it, just be careful not to ingest it, the same is true of the good bacteria inside your body. Good news is strife has the approximate stickiness of Teflon, just rinse anything that touches the bare shelves or floors which you are actually planning on putting in your mouth with unfiltered cold tap water and youll be fine.)
Nice store can get stuff there you cany6 no place else
Amazing selection
The best place to buy live Blue Crab when its in season!
The cashier is very rude and dont know how to Serve customer: Dont know how to greet/smile or say thank you... she just need to learn how not to be so grumpy. Dont forget to check expiration date on if you are going to visit here.
The store has a very good selections of oriental food supplies and ingredients, all the way from seasonings, rice, vegetables, fresh fish, meats, dry and frozen goods and all kinds of other stuff that you wont find in a typical chain grocery stores.
Havent been here for much, just quail eggs. You can get 15 eggs for $3.50. Great deal !
The staff could be little more helpful!
Great place is you love all kind of diferent fruits veggies and even fish
Ive been to all the Asian markets in the Dayton area, and this one is the best in terms of variety, produce, and fresh seafood.
Great variety of Asian products, and a good amount of Hispanic foods. Even Goya red label cans.
I love this place, because its the only place I can go to get all my Japanese foods and ingredients in one go. Their prices are reasonable too.
