Very cool and friendly store! Workers are a blast to talk to and they have everything I need for paints, card games, and gunpla. Prices are fair and despite the store being fairly small )and in a dead mall) they use the space well and stand out among other card shops.

Employees are welcoming. Large selection of current books. They appear to have a large selection of back issues but they havent been available for customers to look at since I moved in the area in 2019. Seems like more of an ideal spot for those into table top gaming and buying other collectibles that are popular now a days.

Wow! We have officially found our board game home to buy new games during COVID times and beyond, 100%. From start to finish, it was super easy to order on the website and to see what games were actually in stock or not. Then, when we saw the price of local delivery, it was so affordable that I figured it must take the games a few days - a week to ship to my house (which I was fine with), but as everyone else has stated, they deliver SAME DAY straight to my apartment. They were so nice, attentive and best of all, so enthusiastic about making sure our games got to us safely. Also, you should support local black-owned businesses!

Whenever I travel to other counties I always try and go to the local gaming stores. Challenges was a great place, had a good selection of comic books, dnd 5e, pathfinder and other rpg games as well as ton of tabletop games. The staff was a huge help, very friendly and knowledgeable. Dimly lit comic book store located in the former Challenges Arcade. Small, but full of fun stuff including board games, Citadel paints, Magic: The Gathering, WH40k, and more! They also host tournaments!The staff is to the point and helpful, in a good way. Nice little place to stop by.

The people are so nice and doing very well in the mall. Theres a large selection of comics and games. It caters to all things nerdy, and before covid, people ran dnd and pathfinder campaigns, and it was a lot of fun. 10/10

Meh, wasnt impressed BRZRKR poster in the window but guy at counter says they didnt order many, asks me what Im into, I tell him, he says they dont really have any of that even though I seen the titles right by the front door...asked if he knew a good local collectable card shop (Im in town for work so dont know the area) proceeds to go on a rant telling me shops dont carry those types of cards anymore because theyre worthless. Just flat out rude and obviously doesnt know what hes talking about glad it isnt my LCS. Terrible experience first and last time walking in there.

During the pandemic, I’ve made an even greater effort to support local businesses, so I was very happy to find out about Challenges. Our family is serious about game night, and they have a fantastic selection of board and card games. I ordered online and picked up in store. The service was prompt and courteous, and the staff take COVID precautions—i.e. masks and distancing—seriously. Thank you!

Edit: 2 weeks and still no refund.Order was canceled with no explanation. Sounds like they werent close to prepared for preorders coming in for the new Shining Fates. Setting a stock limit on their website would have been the correct and professional thing to do. Instead of having to cancel thousands of orders. Coming from somone who builds websites for a living, this should be groundwork for an online shop, especially a preorder item when quantities havent even been allocated yet.Edit: it has now been 9 business and still no refund. No one at the store answers the phone nor emails as well.

This place seems good for gamers (which I am not) but their comic book selection (which is what I am into) is confusingly limited (no back issues, no discernible organization system). Seems like theres a new policy where everything, even trades, is in bags and you have to get the employees to open them if you want to look (very discouraging for browsers). We were in there the other day to look while we waited for a movie and the guy assumed we (two women) were shopping for someone else... (when we actually just get our comics at the store we like better where we have pull-lists and feel more welcome).

The owner was kinda rude the comics are in no kind of order and after digging thru boxes of comics i found a few that i wanted to but and when i got to the register he said that he hadnt proved them in awhile so he couldnt sell them to me he didnt change the price he just took them and put them behind the counter plus they have over half of theyer stuff rooted if so you cant even look at it i do not recommend stopping it will probably just a huge waste of yourtime like it was for me

Challenges games and comics is a safe environment for gamers, comic enthusiasts, and card collectors to gather, play games, and buy comics. I really come for the magic, but my dad likes the comic selection, and the rest of my family enjoy the vintage board games. The service is superb, and always helps when I need to sell my rares, and the selection is only short when it comes to that of the commander sets (which are collectors items anyway). I love this store, and I am glad I have such a great local game store to support with my magic card budget (AKA all of my money). Thank you challenges, you basically own the rest of my childhood, and adult childhood.

I’m not a gamer, but I go to Challenges for figures, manga, Gundam models, and model paints (they carry Citadel paints).The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The prices are surprisingly competitive; you’d think that a brick and mortar store would charge more for stuff, but this store does not.Above all, Challenges is a place where people from any race, age, ethnicity, and fandom can go and feel welcome.

W/R/T pricing, I agree that everything I looked at was at or near retail. ORIGINAL: Decent selection of games and minis, lots of gaming tables. Its crowded and a bit run down in front. The back room is huge, but seriously cluttered and chaotic. Merch is expensive, but I guess they have to make money to make to for low table prices.

Went for my first time playing paper magic. They didnt have a standard tournament running on Friday. The people playing modern seemed to have a good time.Edit: Owners comment is fair. Their was modern being played so updating to a 4 from a 3. But as someone new to playing magic in person, I feel like there could have been better notice that standard doesnt usually happen on Fridays. The website shows FNM for Standard, Commander, and Modern. But from talking with the workers there they implied basically no one ever plays standard on Fridays there.

Im here every week to game on Saturdays, and its just stellar. The owner will often stay open well past his posted hours just so we can play. Retail space is limited but tightly stocked, and I have always been able to order what I wanted on the rare occasions I cant find what Im looking for. By contrast, the play areas are extremely generous - over half the store is game tables. Staff are usually pretty helpful and surprisingly knowledgeable on basically everything in the store given how niche most of the product is.If youre looking to play tabletop games of any stripe youre not going to find a better spot anywhere near Decatur.

Good store. Lots to look at. The mall its in is improving but it does seem run down a bit from the outside. But get past that and youre in a fun store!

Great place, mainly for gaming. They have a relatively small selection of recent comics. Good enough for your main DC and Marvel titles. I really liked the atmosphere and it was surprisingly large. Definitely stop in if youre in the area.

Very interesting place if you play table top games, cards and love comics this is a place for you they even have a small spot for cosplay and a awesome place to jam any table top game in store. Shop doors are locked until the mall closes use the Mall entrance! I have been going to Tonys shop since he was at the old place 3 years ago hes an amazing guy. Someone reviewed him as being too nonchalant... He owns a comic book store of course he is nonchalant. Just talk to him, he is super enthusiastic about games and comics and if he doesnt have the answer to your questions you can bet he knows someone who does.

I came for a Yu-Gi-Oh! OTS Pack Local and wasnt disappointed. The turnout was small but the other players are cool.The store and staff dont seem to be that interested in Yu-Gi-Oh! There are plenty of packs and accessories for Magic: The Gathering, but barely a handful for Yu-Gi-Oh!Ill keep going because the group that plays there is neat, but, as a Yu-Gi-Oh! player, I cant really recommend coming here to buy cards. For that, youd be better off trying Super Games or Dabbers.

A decent selection of comics and games. I wish I could have seen more of the stuff available but I had to cut my visit short. My problem was with the customers lack of hygiene. The place smelled like a locker room. I know it isnt the direct fault of the store, but there is a difference between passing one person and holding your breath and not finding any fresh air in the room.

This is a nice little local game store. I went in looking for d&d related products (minis mostly) and was pleasantly surprised as they had a large selection. The owner was knowledgeable and helpful, its nice to have someone who runs a store for a niche market and actually knows what hes talking about.Curiously, Challenges is located inside a dying Mall and probably provides a lot of their business. The front door (what you would see from the parking lot) is not the main entrance, theres a sign that will tell you to go through the mall entrance and enter through the side.For its location, it was surprisingly crowded with an active community for Yu-Gi--Oh!, Magic: The Gathering, and Warhammer 40k of which I saw several people playing. In addition to those, they had an assortment of paints and several board games.Overall, it was the friendly, knowledgeable, welcoming sort of atmosphere that youd hope to see when entering one of these game stores for the first time. These places survive on good customer service and a strong, consistent community and this place seems to have it.

Locally owned games, comics and hobby store with a friendly and helpful staff. Weekly events, surprisingly good boardgame selection, and plenty of fun merchandise keep us coming back time and time again.

Probably my least favorite game store in the Atlanta area. It is dark and grungy and frankly doesnt have the best selection of anything they offer. The employees are not friendly or helpful unless youre a regular. Unless its a super convenient locatipn for you, there are much nicer places to go like Titan Comics and Games, Infinite Realities, or Oxford Comics and Games.

I was new to Magic The Gathering, and I went in the shop to get some clarification on what I was even doing. The owner was very nice and offered to play me in a game to help identify what I did not understand. There is a culture of players that hangs out, and offers guidance and some one to play with. Challenges got me set up for play, with a smile on my face! I would recommend to anyone looking to support small business and meet some friends!

This place MIGHT have what you want to buy but its 20%+ markup and the owner/employees are abysmal. The owner knows everything and the employees know nothing, although they at least genuinely want to help you.
