Amazing experience with contact lens fitting for my teen! She was very nervous about putting in contacts and taking them out to the point of fainting during our first visit. I was expecting them to say try in a year, but the optometrists at Specs Appeal worked patiently with my daughter and, after two additional training sessions, achieved the goal. She is happy to be free from having to wear glasses all the time. She is more confident and ready for other challenges in life.

Moving to Decatur meant finding new eye doctors. We chose Specks Appeal because it was close to us...and in visiting the first time, we found Dr. Ta and Dr. Tuong very personable in their welcome to us as new patients, skilled in their thoroughness in our check ups and explaining all they were doing in addition to answering our questions. On one occasion, Dr. Ta went beyond expectations in seeing me when they were about to be closing for the day in checking out an eye problem I was having. He and their staff, Reina and Eileen, treated me like I was their first appointment of the day. Dr. Ta has followed up in my recent check ups. We have great confidence and trust in both of them. We have found them to take a genuine interest in us, engaging in conversation while being thorough and helpful each time we have come. We are very grateful for both our doctors and their staff. It is great to see how they all interact with all who come in as they provide their great service.

Today was my first visit and I must say this is by far the most exceptional experience Ive ever had, the staff is polite and professional, the establishment is clean and the doctor is patient, kind,and thorough. I received amazing care and felt comfortable throughout the whole experience.

Ive been to Specs Appeal for about 3 years now and the office staff is so lovely every time Im there for my annual eye exam! I have only seen Dr. Ta here, but he does a great job at nailing down my prescription very accurately. I usually only wear contacts, but the glasses I had were getting pretty dated, so I finally got a new pair from Specs Appeal.They have a wide array of glasses to choose from and when I got my glasses, the office staff actually consulted me on which frame suited my face better (other places would just try and push for the more expensive pair, but the staff at Specs Appeal listened to my style preferences and helped me choose a pair that I liked and wasnt out of my budget).

VSP insurance carriers, be advised that they will try to charge you more than your copay for an eye exam. I suggest you call before you make an appointment and CONFIRM how much the eye exam will actually cost you. They supposedly participate with VSP however they were unable to do the eye exam that would be $10 copay for me. Instead they wanted to charge me $40 for some fancy way of looking at the eye. When I requested to get only the eye exam that was covered by VSP they mentioned they were unable to do it. Ill be calling VSP next to make sure they are aware this provide is unable to 100% assist VSP members.

I was a down to my last set of contacts and needed an eye exam ASAP to order more. The staff was so helpful. Elaine call me later that day to inform me of a cancelation and got me in the next day. I was nervous about having an eye exam with all the social distancing requirements. The staff was very mindful of taking all necessary precautions. That relieved my fears in just a few minutes. Dr Truong, was very knowledgeable and personable and explained what every eye scan meant, in relation to my eye health, in detail. The decor of the office is more spa like than eye doctor. I could not have been happier with my overall experience. With everything going on in the world, it honestly was just nice to have such a extremely pleasant experience.

I loved my experience at Specs Appeal! I went there to get an eye examination and pick out some new glasses. I loved my experience with the doctor. She conducted a thorough exam efficiently. The staff then helped me select frames based on my style preferences and what worked well with my face. We picked out the PERFECT pair of Prada cat eye glasses. We then discussed new lens technology. I was impressed with the staff’s thorough knowledge of what was available to fit my needs. The check out process was so quick. When I came back in two weeks to fit my frames, I was greeted with a warm welcome and complimentary given lens cleaning wipes, cloths, and a case. The former two are often paid options at other locations. I’ve been referring people ever since!All in all, great experience!!

I have been coming to this location for a few years. Earlier, I posted a scatching review of the services received on my last visit. I am happy to say that they have assured me the disconnect in the customer experience will be addressed. I feel satisfied this is the case. I wasn’t happy with the eye exam I got at another facility, so I came here recently. They’re incredibly pleasant, knowledgeable, and have much more sophisticated equipment. Dr. Truong noticed a macula edema that needs specialty care and got me an appointment the next day. I’m overwhelmed by their efforts. Without their attention to detail, I’d probably have lost my eyesight in one eye within a few weeks. I’m ever so grateful for them!

Had an amazing experience today! Was able to book an appointment online (always a bonus) and complete all the paperwork before coming in. I was able to get an appointment for next day. Quickly taken back. All the staff were wonderful, Dr. Truong was thorough and explained everything. In and out in under an hour. Would definitely recommend!

Literally the best eye exam I’ve ever had! Doc was very thorough. I got my retinas scanned which I’ve never had done. He was my second opinion on my leaky eye and gave me way more info than my first opinion. Going back next week for an eye cleaning. So relieved to know that there is something I can do. He also recommended supplements to help with my dry eyes without having to use medications. Found my new optician! The staff is very friendly and helpful!

I took my 88 year old mother here to have an eye exam and order new glasses. The entire staff was very patient with her mobility issues, and especially KJ who exhibited exemplary kindness, consideration, and customer service going so far as to help her physically from chair to chair and out to my car. This is an incredibly convenient location for anyone living in the Decatur area. I absolutely love this practice. The staff are very professional, knowledgeable, and kind. My family and I have always had pretty good vision insurance through my employer; however, we would still end up paying a couple of hundred dollars for my husband prescription/frames but it always ended up being a waste because he wouldnt wear them. He complained that it didnt help his vision, and made his sight feel worse. We explained his issues/problems with the glasses to Dr. Truong and she fixed it. This was the first pair of glasses my husband had worn and not complained!

Simply the best eye exam and glasses selection I have ever experienced. The staff were super friendly on the phone and in person, knowledgeable, and took time to walk me through each step with their state of the art equipment. I had called around to several offices and could not get in for several days or weeks for an eye exam until I came across Specs Appeal. I called in to check availability and was able to come in the same day that I called. I was able to get an eye exam for myself and my son. Dr. Truong took her time to explain what she saw and her recommendations, she is very thorough, which is a rarity these days. I am extremely nearsighted. As I have gotten older, I have had to add reading glasses to my contacts to be able to read from my phone and computer.I have gone to 4 eyes, America’s Best and LensCrafters over the years. I always end up with contacts and reading glasses.Specs Appeal was able to correct my vision without the need for reading glasses. I also did Not have to get fitted with one contact for close reading and one for far site.They have the latest equipment and are up to date on the newest types of contacts and lenses available. My contacts are made for someone who does a lot of digital reading.I have not seen this great in 20 years. They really take their time with you and make sure they examine all of the different factors that play into your vision.Also, they take my insurance!Finally, I wanted to review their glasses. Due to my vision, my glasses are extremely thick. I always pay for the thinnest, most light weight glasses that my last three optical centers could provide.The last two pairs of glasses I returned. I ordered one pair from 4 eyes and one pair from America’s Best. Both were so thick they actually stuck out the front of the lenses.I have been wearing the same scratched pair of glasses for the last 5 years just because they were at least thinner than the news ones.Do to Specs Appeal’s knowledge of the newest materials, they were able to provide me the thinnest, lightest glasses I have ever owned.As someone who dreads going to the eye doctor, I can not express strongly enough my recommendation for others to use Specs Appeal.

I have past history of retina problems so it was important to me find a optometrist who is thorough about eye health. After much research I found Spec Appeal. It was easy to make my initial appointment on the phone but, there is an option to schedule online. The office itself is clean and modern. The equipment is new and cutting edge. The staff is very nice. The eye exam was covered under my insurance and the contact fitting was extra ( which is normal). I also opted for the Optomap upgrade for a reasonable price. This machine maps your retina and the images are stored for future comparisons. I was so happy that they offered this with my anxiety with my previous retina issues and that we can watch for any progression every year. Dr. Minh, is very professional, so kind and thorough. He went over all the images of my eye taken, what it meant and what we need to look our for for future visits. I have never had an optometrist explain my eye in that much detail. I am so happy I chose them for my eye exam and will continue to go to them year after year.TL;DR - great comprehensive eye exam, retina mapping for additional cost (worth it), friendly staff and Dr. Minh is fantastic!

I was experiencing severe headaches and I could not tell if it was from a recent sleep apnea diagnosis or failing vision. I met Dr Nancy at another facility’s office. She was sweet and very professional and took care of all the patients as if they were in her office. I had several questions as a new-aged eyeglass wearer (40 years old). I was completely overwhelmed at how my vision went from less than 720p to 4k. lol. Everything was so crisp and polished. My prescription was for anti-fatigue. Dr Nancy stated her store, Specs Appeal, would be able to fill the script if needed. I called around and no one was able to fill this special type of script. I went to Specs Appeal, and immediately felt like a red carpet was rolled out for me…in my head. The spot lights were bright like a pap’s bulbs flashing and lots of natural light coming inside through the windows screamed, Yasssssss!!! The showroom had lots of top of the line, designer eyewear. I met Rena at the counter. She was very pleasant and knowledgeable. I explained I was new to this and needed everything to be broken down into baby steps and I would be paying in cash. The baseline price was $150. Rena went to another room and brought out a couple of trays of eyeglasses. I kind of giggled to myself thinking, ‘I guess the showroom isn’t in my price range’. Rena suggested I narrow my selection down to 5 pair of glasses to choose between. The last pair won. In addition to the frames, things started to add up fast! A discount was offered since I was paying in cash. I was relieved! Next, I met the manager, K.J. He was his own ray of sunshine! He measured the eyeglasses for me. My glasses were ready about 10 days later. When I returned, K.J. made some additional adjustments to the frames then he dramatically fit them over my eyes. I didn’t feel any spine-tingling happiness that I expected. K.J. assured me that it would take some adjusting and I would have to “teach myself” how to use my lenses. He was right. I can see street signs clearer. Letters are no longer ghosts and shadows of themselves. Entire staff is very down to earth and treat me like Norm (from Cheers) when I walk through the doors. lolUpdate: I lost my eyeglass case and microfiber cloth. I’ve grown accustom to my eyeglasses 😊Sorry for the delayed and lengthy review.Response: No headaches!!! :)

The staff is fantastic. I have a complicated prescription that a previous optometrist had gotten really wrong (causing me bad headaches and other problems). The doctor and all of the staff here really took the time to work with me and get my prescription right.

After going through my entire life never seeing an eye doctor I decided to check out Specs Appeal since they are near me. I’ve been in front of a computer screen for over a year and noticed some “fuzziness” after a while which is why I was prompted to walk in. Met immediately by John and he was awesome! Having been a manager in retail in my previous life, he did everything right to introduce me to the business and genuinely wanted to help me. I was able to get an exam from Dr. T soon after and took advantage of their fancy eye scan after opting not to dilute my eyes. I highly recommend going with that new technology. As an aside, I’m in tech now and really appreciate their willingness to embrace and showcase their technology which I wish more health related industries would do. To wrap up, my experience was excellent and finally have a stylish new pair of reading glasses! Will be sending my wife for a new pair as well!

Just Right! I stopped in to get eye glasses for my new prescription. I mentioned that I had always had difficulty seeing out of my current progressives. I also went back and checked historically on my prescriptions and I knew Dr. Troung was onto something. Before spending a lot of money on new lens and frames Dr. Troung checked the prescription without charge. Turns out I have dry eye syndrome which can affect the eye exam and the prescription. She worked with me to help alleviate it and we (she) got the right read on my vision. Dr. T was determined to help me see better. She also was able to show me my vision with the over prescribed prescription vs the correct prescription. Wow - I can see really well with my new glasses. I also love the technology they use in their office. The office staff are great too. They also have very great office hours. Im going to take my Mom in to see Dr. Troung. I did have to get back for rechecks as we were working to correct the drys and of course there was an charge for those visits.I actually see a pattern here after reading other reviews. People complain that they cant see out of their glasses and therefore dont use those expensive specs. Turns out Dr. Troung fixes the problem by getting the patient the correct prescription. Also she is very happy to help you.

Tyjia was an awesome sales Optician she kept me engaged, conversation flowing, trying on glasses of all kinds!!! Educating me and enlightening me on different optical brands!!! That’s what made me buy the diff shades!! Although they are super fly I could have left them but the great sales optician I hade made me feel like I was making a difference!!!!
