I’ve been a loyal shopper and supporter of Homegrown Decatur because I love the original artwork by local artists. Around 12:45 pm today, Halloween 2021, my family was followed by the employee on duty. It’s sad because I have an account with this store and spend about $100 per visit and I wanted my mom to experience the beauty of the store. After being followed, my mom and I put our items back on the shelf and decided to not spend our money where we’re treated like criminals simply because of our race when all of the white shoppers were shopping freely. The employee was always about two feet away everywhere we went and she should really get a reality check as well as expand her mind. I’ll never be back, I’ll just support Kandus Johnson and other artists directly. By the way, after telling her that “if you’re going to watch certain customers, try not to make it obvious” I left. How hurtful.

Such a great online experience! I live in Illinois and was looking for a local shop to get a gift for a relative in Decatur. The online shopping experience was so easy and I found the perfect gifts! I went to checkout and realized that I needed wrapping, so I called and the woman on the phone was so nice! She happily told me she’d wrap my purchase and deliver it that day locally. The gift was delivered this afternoon and I just shopped this morning! Great selection, great service. I wish I could go in person.

I visited this place yesterday. I was disappointed because there was no greeting. I spent about 15 minutes in the store and no one said a thing. It is a shame because I wanted to like this store. I wish they were more welcoming. Customer service goes a long way.Edit: Thank you Lori Ronca for your reply. I was there around noon.

Visited the store to buy birthday gifts on Nov. 8 at around noon. It was my first (and last) time there. The girl behind the counter never greeted us and didnt look up from her phone the entire time we were in the store. Couldnt bring myself to buy anything there for this reason, but found lots of neat stuff down the street.

NEVER ORDER TOGO. Spent close to $100 for the entire order to be incorrect. They’ll be cheap and consolidate containers if you order more than 1 of the same item. and place incorrect sides with whichever order they please - the entire staff threw their orders away. WASTE OF MONEY. No point of even telling them it’s all separate orders.

Out of all the shops on Decatur Square, this one is my absolute favorite!Fantastic selection of locally created jewelry, leatherwork, sculpture and other types of art!Impossible to describe, but absolutely something here for everyone, no matter what your tastes lean towards.Friendly and welcoming, the staff are always pleasant to interact with, no matter if you are shopping or just browsing. They are knowledgeable and passionate about their offerings and work hard to showcase and support our local artists!A must visit shop for every visit to the square...never the same experience, always something new and interesting!

An Atlanta institution offering unique greasy-spoon breakfasts in a kitchy- thrift store setting. Where else can you indulge on a bowl of cheese grits mixed with chili and eggs while listening to the soothing tones of a live xylophone performance. Youll feel like youve transported off of this rock for a brief time and entered a twilight zone episode where the only thing written in the script is man stops just short of eating to uncomfortably full.

I was greeted by a really nice lady who let me know that she would be in the back if I needed anything. Low and Behold, I found a mug that said Good Morning Fart Face What!!!??? I have called my daughter Fart Face almost every day of her life. I was so excited. The shopkeeper shared in my excitement and she wrapped the mug and boxed it up for me as if it was worth a fortune. Excellent customer service!!

BEST PLACE FOR GIFTS!!! I adore the artist co-op. They are great about keeping the classics so you know you can always get things like R Land and Pete the Cat works, but they also rotate in new artists all the time. Seriously, every time I need a unique gift, I come here. This Christmas, I had a necklace on hold for my sister, but I got in a moto accident before I went home to Savannah and could not pick it up. I called them and they let me pay over the phone, plus gift wrapped and shipped to me (I paid for shipping, of course) the same day. It arrived the day after Christmas! Again, I just cant say enough good things about this place. 10/10!

I have been shopping at Homegrown for the last 4 years. Even though they are way over price (air-plants at $6 each!) I have always supported them. I live in the area and our family has a business in the square. We love nothing more then to contribute to local business. However, the this past week I had a very upsetting interaction with the owner of Homegrown. My friends and I parked in the back of the business to run in quickly before heading to the airport (My friends were out of town and had requested to go shop there before departing). On the way into the shop we decided to step inside Calle, the establishment next door to Homegrown. As we are getting our drinks, a woman stomps in yelling at the top of her lungs at the server and for anyone else to hear. Someone is parked in her spot in the back and she demands they move their car. As we are trying to process what is happening our sweet server admits that she might be the one parked in her spot. The woman proceeds to ask our server if she can read. There is a sign that says parking only for such and such. That she is the owner of Homegrown and that no one should be parked in her spot! Even though there are plenty of spots open (Did I mention it was just noon at this point). I start walking towards my car to move it and to avoid anymore public drama. However, I cant move because she has purposely blocked everyone in. I stand there as she is running to every business near by and doing the same thing. I walk back into the restaurant to wait for her to come back so that I may move my car (91 degrees outside). She comes back after 5 or so minutes yelling again that the server move her car. I very quietly stand up and say, Maam its actually my car and we are waiting to pay to leave. She then yells at us (as the whole restaurant is watching and listening) I dont care, move your car right now. There are 3 of you!!. Again she proceeds to tell us that she is the owner of Homegrown and she does not care and she is going to call the police. My friends and I are mortified (along with everyone in the restaurant) at the way this woman is acting. Not to mention she keeps mentioning her business. As we are walking out to move the car she continues harassing us. She then walks over with a cop to try and force us to do what we were already doing. The cop was very nice and asked if we would mind just moving. Of course there was no problem moving the car as we were leaving anyways. Im so embarrassed that any business owner in the square would ever act that way to anyone. Not to mention the way she treated our poor server who was so sweet and polite. Coming into a business making a scene when you are a grown woman and business owner over a parking spot is completely uncalled for. We will never step foot into Homegrown again. We are simply disgusted with the way this woman treated local patrons and employees of the City of Decatur.
