BEST KEPT SECRET! Im so glad i discovered this place! Juno and his team completely transformed my hair. In just one visit i saw amazing results. Juno takes the time to really analyze your personal hair situation and had the knowledge, thanks to extensive training out of the country. I will never trust my hair to anyone else. I purchased a Groupon for a full head of highlights. As you can see my roots are still dark. The number of foils they used is 1/4 the amount a salon would traditionally use on my head. About halfway through, someone else started to work on my hair and they appeared to be learning because it took 3x the amount of time. The nail on the coffin for me was the $40 they wanted for toner. I refused.Do not waste your time here for highlights

This place is great. It’s a little spot but cozy and welcoming. I had my hair done here with Ana. She has many certificates and is highly trained in her profession. If you are nervous about changing your hair color or style you won’t have to worry if you choose to go with Ana. I personally went from dark brown to a golden blonde color. I was so nervous and scared but Ana made the transition easy and once we were done the end results were incredible. I am so happy with my new color. I have gotten many compliments. I will definitely return to this salon in the near future.

They are good at what they do. However they are NOT WELCOMING AT ALL. Very bad vibes there.

My absolutely favorite hair stylist, KYLE!!!!!!!!!! I am very picky about my hair and kyle makes me look glamorous and hot hot hot. I get so many compliments after I leave.He does amazing Brazilian blowout,coloring and a fabulous cut. Everybody who sees my hair asks for he’s number.He is very talented, have been going to him for years.He will also fix your frizzy hair, messed up color and make you love your hair again.Thank you so soso much again KYLE!!!!!!!

I have found this location on the Groupon and bought the full highlights with cut for $60. I call the day before to let them know and make an appointment for the next day. I come in on time and the first thing I notice is the pungent smell of cigarettes that started to hurt my throat (I have asthma). The asian man looks at my hair and tells me that it would look better if I get toner but it would be an additional charge of $40 and that it wasnt included in the Groupon. How can full highlights even be considered or offered without toner??? I felt very dissapointed and just told the man to give me a regular cut with only side bangs. He says he will charge me $43 and I was like ok, even tho it was still expensive but I needed the cut. So he washes and cuts my hair very simply and I noticed he didnt give me the side bangs. He blowdrys my hair for almost 1 hour and it started to burn my scalp. Throughout the session my mask kept falling off my ear and i can tell he was getting frustrated when he started to yank me ear to get the mask tucked behind it!!! I just wanted to leave at this point and didnt care about anything else. At the counter he then lies to my face and tells me the cut costs $53 not $43 and that i had misheard him. I told him that it was a lot for a simple cut but he didnt give a sh*t. I dont like to be difficult and argue, thats just how i am. I gave the $53 and ran out of their as fast as I could. I have no idea why the Groupon has good reviews when the place looks so nasty and has the worst customer service. Never ever coming here again.

Juno is one of the best! Whenever I go to Mijo Hair Salon I always receive great service & leave very happy with the result. When you enter the salon, a hair stylist will come up to you & inquire about what you are looking to get done. I love that Juno is honest & always tell me what he thinks we look good, he follows his intuition & I trust it & I have always left feeling great about my new hair style.

Mijo hair salon is the best salon on long island. I have been going there for years. Michael the owner is one of the greatest hairstylist I ever met. If you go to him or anyone that works there you will be excited to see how your hair looks by the time they are done. I NEVER had a bad experience. I have very thick hair that is unmanageable and they get my hair pin straight every time. Michael and his crew are phenomenal at color, cuts, Brazilian blowouts and every treatment they do. I always get compliments and I send everyone to his shop. Definitely give them a chance you wont be disappointed. They treat you like family there. I will be a forever customer

I purchased a groupon for full highlights and haircut for $48. The Groupon site was down, he charged me $58 pretending like he didn’t know how much it was on the site. I was told I needed to pay extra for toner and Olaplex $75. I understand the olaplex charge but I purchased a full highlight Groupon, toner is part of dying your hair. There was no fine print for this extra charge. Funny part is my sister who also purchased a Groupon was told by the guy cutting her hair that olaplex was included in the haircut. Juno did a decent job on my hairCut but I did not get the color I wanted, I was looking for caramel brown and didn’t get that. As a professional, it is your job to do the color asked, not ask the customer if this is the color, I’m not the hair stylist. I showed you a picture, you said you can do it so simply do it. Clearly blonde highlights is very different than caramel. In the sun, my highlights are yellow, in the salon they looked okay due to their dim lighting. He talked me out of going with the thicker highlights and said to do thinner highlights because he didn’t want waste more product and save money.Without asking he started thinning my hair, when I asked him he said that’s not what he was doing when clearly that’s exactly he was doing, running shears through my hair and my hair was coming out, he claimed it was a smoothing technique. I never asked for my hair to be thinned. ...now I have fly always. YOU CANNOT DO A SERVICE WITHOUT CONSULTING. Then he went ahead and curled my hair on the highest heat setting WITHOUT asking me and my hair was literally smoking, I could smell it. I told him and he said oh no the curler is smoking. It made no sense, he made me think I was stupid. I’ve been to many hair salons, this was not a great experience.My sister who went with me was charged $120 to get her red color out and he kept reassuring that it would be NO damage and now her hair looks discolored with 3 different shades and she has SO much damage, it feels like horsehair. In the salon, due to the products, it felt smooth but the next day it felt horrible. Truth is, they will charge you extra only to make money and they lie a lot about their services and their experience. I have a masters in psych and I could see how much he was lying to make any and every dollar. It’s very disappointing. My sister and I tipped him a total of $35 on top of that. Do not waste your money here. They were nice people but they don’t know how to run a business on integrity and loyalty. Wasted so much money to have our hair damaged.

I have gotten the Japanese straightening there a few timesIt always comes out great! The guys that work there are so professional and kindand do excellent work, they are perfectionists!! I would absolutely tell anyone to go to Mijo!

If I could give zero stars I would. A completely unprofessional individual by the name of Anna decided to hack off a good portion of my hair when her only task was to dye it. NOT REMOVE IT!! I will never go back to this place again, and you shouldn’t either. I will be spreading my story to everyone I know. This is a complete horror story.

Just ask for Michael. He’s an excellent, intuitive stylist, pays attention to detail. Knows how to handle Asian hair. Think I’ve found my LI Asian hair salon.

Anna over at MiJo Hair Salon did an amazing job on my Japanese straightening..will definitely recommend her to my friends and family..Everyone at MiJo helps out and is very friendly.Its definitely one of the best salons on long island and I no longer need to travel to Queens to get my hair straightened when I have Anna and everyone else there who can do it at a reasonable price....

Edit: 12/28/20Came for an emergency appointment when my 4 year old decided to chop off her own bangs. Juno did an amazing job and covered up her boyish looking bangs. I would recommend this place to anyone!I have been coming here for 2 years now and I have never had a bad experience. Everyone is friendly and Michael always does an amazing job on my hair. I made the mistake of going to a salon that is closer to my new home In East Meadow, but the lady butchered my hair and i vowed to never go back to the other salon. Honestly commuting all the way to Deer Park is worth it. Not sure why MiJo only has 3.6 stars when they truly deserve much more. Youre going to find bad reviews about any business and some people are difficult to please. The best way to judge is to try for yourself.

Asian Hairstyling and Coloring. Wife liked it, had an enjoyable time, and the price was around what I expected. She loves the cut, and received good advice about her hair. Just dont feel overweight because the stylists are thinner than the customers.

Just got my hair done tonight by Michael and he was wonderful! Im always nervous getting my haircut and he made me feel very comfortable. Love the color and cut! He even gave me some tips on curling my hair at home. I bought a groupon for a single color process and cut. I had a surcharge for longer hair but thats to be expected at any salon. Still a great deal and Ill be back for sure. Thanks so much!

I found this on groupon and my daughter and I went for a haircut. We both have long hair and they did exactly what we wanted. My daughter was so happy with her new hairstyle. We would definitely go back and I already recommended this place to my family and friends, excellent job guys.

Got a brazillian blowout done by Ana, service was slow I was there for 6 hours! They are under staffed and she had to keep stopping to blow out other customers hair. All in all she did a really good job and the results are fantastic she is really skilled and meticulous. The environment is not very welcoming and it is very filthy, hairs on the floors and dead flys on the window sills. Even though Ana is top notch I dont think Ill be back to see her at that salon; hopefully she works elsewhere.

I wish I could give it 0 here. This is worst service from a salon I have ever experienced in my life. I spent around $210 including tips and service for japanese hair straightening and after 3 days of non-washing hair and I washed it today, my hair doesnt even look it has been treated. It looks so much normal with waves, no one could tell I have got permanent straightening. I really want people to save their money and never ever go to this salon. Please avoid at all costs and find someone better who knows to do their job better. If Mijo staff is reading this review, please do have courtesy to refund me my wasted money.

Some of the staff did not understand English. I had a hard time explaining what I wanted done. In the end I was happy with my hair. So I went back a week later only to have the same problem, staff did not speak English. I just walked away. Will not be returning.

Will NOT recommend this place to anyone, if they cannot simply blow dry hair who the hell know what they will do when it comes to cut or color. My hair was medium length soft and straight and they could not blow dry to save there lives, tell me!! Who washes someone’s hair and blow dry your hair without even putting your hair up and taking parts down to blow dry ... seriously, who blow drys hair like that??? No volume no style and very frizzy cuz dry hair was constantly mixed in with wet hair throughout the entire blow out... I will not take my pet here to even get groomed but there’s fools!!!

Gave my daughter the worst haircut of her life to the point she left crying. HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND !!! Unless you want to look like a clown.... :)

They did a good job with my hair but their lack of professionalism with customers was ridiculous. I waited for hours for something that took an hour max. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone simply for this reason. They are expensive as any other salon so why waste your time here when you could go to a place where they actually care about customer satisfaction? Also, if you have a problem with the amount Groupon charges, stop selling them. I did not arrive late, everyone else did. And do not buy a Groupon for this place either, unless you want to be treated like a 3rd grade citizen. I was the first one to arrive with an appointment but I was taken in after 6 people that showed up after me. I was perfectly fine with the 25 dollar charge but what is up with charging 40 extra for a different hair stylist? I paid in advance and you made that promise and your salon should know how to keep it.

I had an appt at 12 and I didn’t leave there till 8. I also purchased ombré through Groupon and when I went to the salon they charged me $180 more and on top of all that they damaged my hair . I went to another salon 3 days later and she fixed my hair. I asked MIJO for a refund of some money and they didn’t help me at all. The worst place to get your hair done

At first i was a bit skeptic, because the stores next to it didnt give me the certainty i needed,however once i walked in, the staff was very professional, the guy who cut and styled my hair (mike) really did know what he was doing, unlike other places you go and you ask them what you want one, even tough they may see some damage to the hair, they still go ahead and do whatever. This guy knew, he tells you what can be done, he gives you tips about hair care without trying to sell you any products, very professional, friendly atmosphere with modern touches and modern equipment. when its time to wash your hair, you are basically laying down so comfortable in those chairs And they also offer you wine if you wish to while you are getting dolled up!! im def going back again on may for my keratine treatment!!

I left crying.Asked & showed pictures of a balayage ombréI didnt find out until 30 minutes in that an assistant was coloring my hair (still paid full price for a professional service though)Proceeded to get a stripy orange full head foil highlight on top of my level 3 dark brown hair. The lightener broke the mid shafts to ends of my hair leaving holes in my a-line bobThe owner rough blow dryed my hair without a brush just until it was dry and let me walk out with a fuzzy head of hair just to get me out of there. This place is crap. Would give it zero for service. Before they explain away why you have to pay extra on GroupOns let me say my hair is very thin and shoulder length. I BOUGHT a groupon for partial highlight and cut. This is what I expect. Also read the fine print saying Michael would be extra and called ahead to make sure my GroupOns would be valid for the person cutting my hair. Got the green light... Until I got there. You guys tried to convince me I needed to spend more just like all the other reviewers said. If you want better reviews be specific on your fine print or dont use GroupOn at all... Waste of time. Did not stick around for the artists prices or expertise. whether you guys are great at cutting hair or not ....people dont like to be swindled or suckered into the bullshit you guys are selling.

After years of using groupon THIS IS THE WORST place ever ...I purchased a single process and a hair cut.When I arrived at the salon and the stylist said my hair was long and to do my root ( aka a touch up ) it would be $15 bux more.. in 20 years of getting my roots done no one HAS EVER SAID THAT.. Then he said $38 buxs more for a hair cut ..That would be a whoppping total of $92 buxs .. Thats more than much more established salon in the area with no groupon ...BIGGEST CONS OUT THERE THEY SHOULD GET ZERO STARS

Absolutely the WORST salon I have been too.I asked for a dark blonde- golden brown hair color, even picked out the one I wanted.They put basically bleach in my hair, and didnt check on me until 45+ minutes later, mind you, they didnt bleach my roots (so now i have 1-2 inches of brown hair poking out)After they rinsed that out it was a bright yellow-orange. They then put the dye which i suposevely picked out on my head for 15 minutes or less. Following washign it out and drying it, I was a platinum blonde.After trying to explain to them that this was not what I wanted and asked for some of my money back or at least for them to fix it they became very rude and stubborn blaming it all on ME.If they were more pleasant and helpful, I wouldnt be writing this.It was a horrible experience. I will never go back and I will try to convince anyone to go for any kind of service.save your money. youre better off buying a box of dye and taking scissors to your hair.

Colorist and stylist Endy, SAVED MY HAIR !! Ive been a blonde my whole life, itching for a change I made an impulsive decision to go to cvs and buy a box of Loreal red auburn color. Well needless to say it came out very dark and uneven. I had blonde orange, brownish and dark red streaks in my hair!I wore in a pony tale for a week trying to figure out who i can get to fix my mistake. after searching the web and reading a few good reviews about MIJO SALON (and that they were open on a Monday, my only day off) I decided to go.The minute Endy saw my hair, he new 1 the layers were not blended right and 2 my hair was so damaged. (from all the bleaching i did to it being a blonde). He sat and talked to me giving me several choices of hair treatment. I showed him several pictures of what I was hoping for. With his 15 years experience he told me what he could do and what he wouldnt do to my hair, to prevent further damage to my hair.I have been to so many salons in city and long island and this was by far the best experience. I AM SO HAPPY WITH MY HAIR COLOR AND STYLE. I also saw him do an ombre on another woman to and it looked amazing!!I would suggest going here if you need to correct your color or need a hair cut!! He cut away all my frizzy dead ends with out chopping the length of my hair off!! Everyone was so nice in the salon. It is not pretentious which i like and the prices are very fair. My hair looks like i went to a celebrity stylist without paying celebrity prices!** also if you have neck issues this salon has thee most comfortable chairs that support your neck in the sink!! felt like i was in a recliner chair i never had to strain my neck or have that hard ceramic sink against the back of my neck.I am trying to figure out how to attach pics on here because that will say it all.
