This place is amazing! A must go to dessert experience if youre in the Denver area. Entertaining and delicious. Be sure to check the schedule on their website as they are doing small group sessions due to COVID. Honestly though the small group sessions freed the Chef to go off script and try suggestions from the group which made it even more fun.
I couldnt bring myself to post two stars because theyre a local business trying hard to make it through a pandemic and I appreciate and respect that. However our experience, me my wife and three boys 12 to 16.. well it was just kind of bland. Our host was a nice enough guy but just boring, especially for a place that has a gigantic picture of Gene Wilder Willy Wonka on the wall. We started with essentially a PowerPoint presentation about nitroglycerin and freeze dried foods followed by a few samples... Then we went into the Glow room which was about three phone booths big and has some cotton candy... And then we were prepared to dessert and on our way. You know Ive seen this place advertised and promoted on 9news and whatnot, and Ill tell you right now the news makes it seem much more exciting than it actually is... Dont expect a Willy Wonka experience if youre going here, my wife and I were left unimpressed but the birthday boy did enjoy his dessert, that cost a lot more than it was worth, but he was happy. We just thought is going to be a much more interactive experience.
Great experience! Always love the food and Gobblefunk is always a great time! Highly recommend!
An absolute delight! The sweets were a treat, the production was better than neat! The flavors, textures, and visuals will knock you off your feet!A wonderful and delicious experience with a side of brain food on top, thank you for the creative and interesting yet oh so tasty time!!
We had so much fun with my nephews (ages 4, 6, and 9). This is something that can appeal to every age as the science aspect keeps older minds engaged as the younger kiddos are just blown away by all the sugar. Ian was patient with the kids and kept their attention the entire time. So glad we found this memorable experience on our trip to Denver!
My mom ordered some items from them and something went wrong with the order. They never hesitated to make it right and treated her with the utmost respect. Based on their customer service alone, I would visit and buy again! Very kind, diligent, and they work fast with any issues. Thank you for being people first and treating my mom with kindness. We will keep you in mind for birthday treats in the future!
What a cool place! Super creative decor. The staff was excellent and so friendly! The main chef heard it was my son’s birthday and he gave him a treat! How unexpected. And he also too the time to speak with us though it was super busy. The line can get really long, however, it moves quickly: we got in at 8:00, there were 21 people in front of us, and we got our ice cream at 8:20!
Rairng would go up if we were able to experience it. Should be made very clear - on Google banner and bolded/highlighted at top of website - that, even to go for a dessert, it is appointment only and requires a 45 min talk. Also, there are 2 different websites, which is confusing. (tirdenver.com)
Phenomenal experience. I highly recommend visiting once or twice or ask the time
The closest youll get to Willy Wonkas factory, but for ice cream! The Inventing Room offers so many fantastical and delicious creations. From the unicorn tart to custom sundaes with magic chocolate to the Harry Potter Tastings, there is something magical for everyone.Upon entering you get that little kid in a candy shop kinda feel. There are unique and fun decorations along the wall, everyone is eating ice cream that looks amazing, and the woman at the register is preparing complimentary popcorn dipped in liquid nitrogen. You can either choose from a creation already on the menu or build your own. I ordered the unicorn tart after a period of long indecisiveness, while my husband ordered a build your own Colorado honey ice cream sundae with magic chocolate, exploding whipped cream, and burnt marshmallow. At the other end of the counter, we got to watch our creations being made, which was also fun.Now on to the ice cream... the texture of liquid nitrogen ice cream is great and creamy, with an added benefit that it takes longer to melt. The unicorn tart comes with galaxy ice cream which is blueberry with glitter on top. Although the presentation was beautiful and photogenic, I wasnt a fan of the huge chunk of cotton candy. The tart was also just so-so. The ice cream was definitely the best part. My husbands custom creation, on the other hand, was so delicious! He loved the ice cream and the exploding whipped cream.Checking out Inventing Room for yourself is worthy of the unique experience. Beautiful presentations and delicious ice cream, I definitely look forward to trying something new next time.
Disappointing to get there and find out you need tickets. It should be more visible on the website that this is not a dessert shop you can just stop in. If Im ever back in Denver I may give it a try
What a gem! Learned they have a limited schedule in Winter, so look for the next pop-up or themed dinner they may be doing.Went: For Molecular Donut Shop 7.0Food: 5 out of 5 - an enitrely different level of donut.Service: 5 out of 5 - super friendly even though they were slammed.Ambience: 5 out or 5 - funky, eclectic maker/inventor/chemistry vibe.
What a unique and delicious experience! I love that the menu consists of a variety of candy, snacks (including Cheetos!), and ice cream to fit the palette of all visitors. Everything is crafted in the customers line of sight with the careful use of liquid nitrogen, and its fun to watch ☺️. As our food was being frozen in front of us, we were given some frozen popcorn to snap-crackle-pop in our mouth and giggle at our frosty breath. Then, the chef at the end of the creation process cheerfully explained everything that he was doing. My husband had the Mexican chocolate sundae and we LOVED it. I had the smores tart, which was delicious, but the tart was too hard for a plastic fork (I broke my first one) and I had a difficult time cutting it up with the plastic knife provided. We were told that the nitrogen freezes the ice cream so quickly that the ice particles are much smaller than normal and would make the ice cream smoother; however, I was not impressed by the taste of the ice cream (texture or flavor). But the sundae and creation experience as a whole was most definitely fun and tasty. I will definitely take others here!
Each time we visit its a unique experience. The desserts they create are fun, exciting, and best of all, delicious! The place is nice and clean and the owner is very friendly and clearly loves what he does.
I bought 4 boxes for their Harry Potter Gobblebox tasting series and was nothing short of impressed. The organization of the event and the delivery of the boxes were flawless. We live in the Denver Metro area so we had the pleasure of Chef Ian hand delivering our boxes, which is customer service to the max!! The packaging was great and came with solid instructions for holding prior to the tasting event. The night of the event was so fun and absolutely tasty! The treats were delicious and the participation/presentation by the host and Chef Ian were wonderful. I will certainly be on the look out for more fun events this establishment has to offer! Cheers!
Had a really fun experience at this liquid nitrogen ice cream joint. The staff is super nice and explained the entire process while they were putting it together. The kiddos that were in line seemed to really get a kick out of it. The end result was well balanced and full of textures and yummy flavors. They also “freeze” the popcorn which is unsuspectingly delish!
We attended the “Future of Desserts” experience to celebrate a family birthday. Ian was so knowledgeable and explained the science in a way our entire party (aged 3 to grandparents) could understand, stay engaged and enjoy. The menu presentation was a delicious live science experiment. Very well thought out and run (and covid safe). The freeze dried skittles are a must!
Did not know you needed tickets to enter in store. Looks fun though
This place was a real treat! Something new and different. You have just as much fun deciding what to get as you do eating it. They gave us some frozen popcorn while we waited in line (check out the video).I had simple vanilla with Oreo (I’m a sucker for cookies and cream) and also had exploding whip cream. Don’t worry, it didn’t really explode. My wife got the s’mores blast and she said it was one of the best desserts she ever had.
It was a cold day and and my kids requested ice cream. I found this place through Google reviews. I could not have been more pleased with this experience! Not only was the ice cream delicious, but the staff was super kind and patient. If you are in the Denver area at all this is a must stop whether its sunny and 90* or snowing!
Very nice, inventive environment. There are a lot of trinkets throughout, and they make their stuff with liquid nitrogen! it is delicious. Worth the diabetes. Ha! There is a lot on the menu, and the desserts are unique, so you can easily become overwhelmed. Just try the first thing that catches your eye, and come back for more. Small, and cozy. The people are nice and make the dessert presentation an experience. Going to return and try something new. 🐻🍷
This was such a cool experience! The owner was super nice and informative, and the samples and sundaes that come with the tour were amazing. The pineapple strawberry cream was my favorite! Had to pick up a few cool treats to bring back for my son afterward...how cool is it that they have the edible wallpaper like in Willy Wonka? Finally get to find out if the snozzberries taste like snozzberries.
Crazy place for dessert! We dropped late around 9:40pm, only a few people here. Atmosphere is wild, and cold! They use liquid nitrogen to make almost every dessert. We had the Smore and the Creme Brule Waffle. Both are to die for. Reasonably priced and staff is helpful and down to earth. Worth stopping by for sure!
Parking: theres side street parking across the street from the store or in the parking garage of the same bldgAtmosphere: cutely decorated with a display counter to watch them prepare your order, plenty of seating-inside & outsideStaff: very friendly and helpful in our choices since this was our 1st visit, no regrets in taking their advice.Order:Mexican Fried Ice Cream - cant go wrong with this choice, its FRIED!! 😋Unicorn Tart - my daughter didnt care for the blueberry ice cream or the sugar cookie tart. But of course she had no complaints and ate all of the cotton candy, white chocolate unicorn horn and glitter LOLLemon Curd Creme Brulee - it was ok....hubby is a lemon lover but he didnt feel their was that lemon punch as you would with fresh squeezed lemonade.
Amazingly delicious and creative. Ive been trying to get to the Inventing Room for years and finally was able to accomplish this. Its well worth the journey and the wait. The service is so friendly and professional. If they havent been on the Food Network, this needs to be! Positively a Denver area must!
Cute & quirky place with great sweets! you can tell that the chef really has a passion for what he does :) lots of liquid nitrogen lol
An amazing experience! Thank you Chef Kleinman for helping us out even though we were late!
A single star means I wouldnt go back and I wouldnt recommend while 5 stars means i would go back every chance I get. Unlike other negative reviews I have to say the staff were very nice. One of our group assumed incorrectly about their choice being gluten free and the staff were kind and quickly made another option. That being said, none or our party liked the options we chose. The flavor combinations just didnt work out. My sticky toffee pudding was as advertised meaning it was a soup. The liquid used to make it a soup just didnt work the butter beer choice was not liked by anyone at the table. The lemon and blueberry option was just plain. I feel as though this place relies on the novelty of their cooking approach but it doesnt translate into good combinations. Even the hardened chocolate swirls tasted exactly like the cheap Hershey chocolate syrup. Our party may be biased because we have tried nitrogen ice cream places across the country and this was our least favorite.
Fantastic service. Fun for children, and educational! Well return!
Very fast service for a very cool experience. The ice cream is super smooth and delicious, as were all of the additional pieces I got to try. We were given a bag of liquid nitrogen cooled popcorn which was surprisingly refreshing. Free parking available in the attached garage and a dog friendly patio
Just happened to run across this Willy Wonka-themed whimsical wonder. What a cool place! I felt like a kid again and then they asked me to stop licking the walls. All kidding aside, the desserts were great. We had the creme brulée waffle and the fried ice cream. The dessert artist then constructed our dessert in front of us while explaining what was going into the dessert and he had fun with it. Lots of fun with liquid nitrogen ensued. There was a bit of a hiccup while making the waffle (not a big deal) and so the dessert artist was letting us try some of their small plates in the meantime. They gave us samples of the really, really cold Cheetos and oreo space foam. I have to admit Im not a big Cheeto fan, but these were by far the best. You have to be careful eating them (frostbite!) but each bite brings forth a steamy breath. The space foam was equally fun and enjoyable - Oreo whipped cream? Yes, please!I would highly recommend The Inventing Room, especially if you have children - or children-at-heart.
Took a quick trip to and had to come here for their famed desserts! We love the fact that you can get in line via opentable!
We set up a drone drop of treats for a very special birthday. At the scheduled time, it was rainy and windy. Ian stayed and waited out the weather so that we wouldn’t miss out. The treats were delicious and it was a really cool experience! I highly recommend booking treat drop or visiting the shop for unique experiences and amazing desserts that will blow your mind!
We just took our family to the Science of Dessert expect at The Inventing Room Dessert Shop in Denver. It was fantastic and the owner gave a wonderful presentation. The desserts were yummy and so much fun. I highly recommend goo if you can get a spot. What an awesome dose of happiness!! Its a real treat and perfect for a little break from quarantine life!
Great concept for a unique dessert. Stacy greeted us, explained the concept of the place, and made our frozen creations while being really enthusiastic about it the entire time. You could tell she enjoys what she does, and it made our experience there, that much better. Prices were perfect for what you get!
Delicious treats and super fun experience! I did the Harry Potter taster, so yummy!
Very fun and cool experience!
Fun place to have ice cream. $6 for a make your own sundae is a great deal! Staff is friendly and help make the experience even more enjoyable. Try the popcorn. It’s a great way to get the fun times started.
We had the most amazing time at the Science of Dessert tour today! I was blown away at how safe and clean the experience felt, every detail has been thought out to keep guests at a safe distance throughout the experience. Great value for the price with lots of samples to try. We had 3 young kids with us and they loved it as much as the adults! I will definately be back to support this well thought out business.
The popcorn was great! As was this amazing dessert! Galaxy Junk Sundae was EVERYTHING!!!
Fun place to go for dessert. they make desserts using liquid nitrogen. we tried the frozen butter beer and it was awesome. they also give popcorns dunked in liquid nitrogen for free and you can turn into a fire breathing dragon with smoke coming out of your nose when you eat them.
My favorite dessert shop! Tonight we had the lemon curd with blueberries and toasted meringue, and the cream puff with cappuccino ice cream and exploded whipped cream So good! A perfect end to the weekend.
A clever way to serve the classic family favorite!
Fun little dessert shop. They make your dish right infront of you while explaining the process of how its made which is also great. Not only is the food delicious it also gives you a fun experience to go in and watch them make it. The pricing isnt too bad either a family of five only cost around $40 for all of us and it was a good environment for kids aswell. I will definitely be returning to this gem and cant wait to see what great things this company does as it gets more well known.
Bought their custom suckers for funny gifts! Super cute. Love, Love, Love! Delivered really fast, great quality!
This spot was a destination of choice in our Denver vacation, and it did not disappoint! Not only was the service quick with friendly staff, we were shown how our deliciousness was being made as it was being made. If you find yourself in Denver, I highly recommend popping in and experiencing this!
Science of Dessert was a really fun experience. Ian has done a good job adapting to the times and made sure to ask us of we felt safe. We did! Having the place to ourselves with a couple friends was perfect! He said this is what he is doing now to keep the doors open. As a business owner, I feel that! I fully support these special local businesses and want to see them survive this pandemic. This place is a treasure. Educational, entertaining, and sugary goodness. A perfect summer treat. Wily Wonka would be proud. Enjoy!
Clever discovery of dessert, demonstrated in a fun and scientific way, and it all tastes rather delicious. The immediate ice cream tastes really good.
Been wanting to visit here since it first opened! Was able to attend the science of dessert today and it was spectacular. Ian created a great experience for us in these crazy times.
Great atmosphere and delicious inventions. I really enjoyed the innovative recipies an great staff.
Great service and a great staff.Oh and our dessert was awesome.
Wily Wonka would be proud. Very affordable and so creative. Why wouldnt you go? Delicious
Good frozen food that isnt normally frozen 👍
This place was amazing!!! I loved the butterbeer Float and the really really cold Cheetos were so much fun!!! I will be going back!
Ian is quite the pastry genius! If you like abstract yummy desserts, this should definitely be your next stop. Come in for one of the demos to get informed on how they make their magic ;)
I miss TIR so much in the age of Covid! This is my favorite dessert spot in town that I find myself recommending to locals and out of towners alike. The Mexican fried ice cream is perfection. TIR has a quirky mad scientist vibe, so come for amazing dessert and a fun experience!
We had my sister’s birthday party and it was perfect! The owner was so engaging with the kids and kept them interested with all the inventions and treats. The nitrogen demonstrations were also very fun to watch (and eat!) the owner made lollipops at the end with edible glitter and my sister’s name that made great party favors. Thank you for hosting us!
This place is magical! I have been watching their social media for months so excited about this place! I kept trying to get down here from Fort Collins and I finally made it! It was so cute, the staff was SUPER nice! It was everything I was hoping it would be! And the food was DELICIOUS too! The owner came over and asked us how everything was and I genuinely appreciate that he is so hands on with his business! Keep doing the great work! Oh and please don’t ever get rid of the Harry Potter tasting!
Exceptional experience! The instructional class was fun, interesting, and tasty! Learning about how certain confections are made and the demonstrations was well crafted and well done. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!
The Inventing Room is part Willy-Wonka, part Steampunk, and a whole lot of delicious sugary goodness fueled by freezing via liquid nitrogen. Its a very fun environment from free frozen popcorn that pops in your mouth to a working rube goldberg-esk pinball contraption on the wall. From lollipops to the delicious Mexican Fried Ice Cream (photo), everything is made right there in front of you and explained by friendly staff. No fear dairy-freers, they have cans of coconut milk they can use just as effectively! You cant really go wrong with your selection here!
An extremely creative dessert space. Using liquid nitrogen as the method of chilling and modifying a variety of dessert items, this is a totally unique experience.
This is a very unique shop. We stopped in on a whim and were not disappointed. The popcorn was so fun, it caught me off guard when I kept seeing smoke coming out of the mouth of the guy in front of us. It was a delicious, lightly sweetened kettle corn. I ordered the butter beer and was excited that it was made right in front of us, with a description as to what was being done. This would definitely be a great place to bring kids!
This place is AWESOME. We went for a themed dinner and was not disappointed. GREAT EXPERIENCE!!!
This place is so unique & very cool. So many dessert shops are all the same. This place uses liquid nitrogen while making your dessert. I had fried ice cream. Not only was it the coolest thing to watch but it was delicious. It is a great place to brings your kids or to take your hot date. Either way you wont leave disappointed.
Definitely not as interesting as the website would have you believe, but it was kind of cool to watch some of the treats being made. The ice cream is gluten free, so not as good as the real stuff.
Awesome place, a must visit
Found this place as a recommendation on YouTube. Certainly worth the visit. The staff was very friendly and gave some advice on where to go during my family visit to Denver. The ice cream varieties and flavors were awesome and watching the process of how the treats are made was a treat itself. Worth the visit for sure!
Great decor and fun concept. We stopped by the Inventing Room after a trip to the Denver Aquarium and it was a fun end to our night. Desserts were good, the process was fun to watch and the staff was friendly. I dont think I would come here often but it is worth a trip just for the experience. If you are an overprotective, paranoid mom like me, be warned you should take small bites of the (free!) popcorn while waiting in line. I stupidly threw a handful in my mouth and definitely burned my tongue a little! (Luckily, my kids are smarter than I am!) The staff warned us to take small bites of the Really, Really Cold Cheetos, but didnt warn us about the popcorn! All in all, a fun and memorable experience.
Such a cool place for a sweet treat. Both in the literal AND figurative sense! The ice cream is made with liquid nitrogen. Everything is done right in front of you, so you get a show with your dessert. They give you a complimentary bag of liquid nitrogen cooled salted caramel popcorn which is fun to eat while you watch your ice cream being made. Great service and amazing flavors of ice cream. Definitely a go-to place when we are near downtown.
You’ll have a fantastic experience at The Inventing Room! For sure the Best dessert shop in Denver!
SOOOO IN LOVE
It was great. My experience was great, the staff was great, the prices were great, and it tasted so good. If you watched them make it they would walk you through it step by step. I got this for only $7.50.
I bought a bread pudding, dad bought a build your own Sunday. He won. Amazing experience. Choose the marshmallow, they toast it with a blow torch. Good service, good time.
