He was upfront about scheduling and even had a diagnosis back quicker than expected. Price was fair and pickup was flawless. Ive used other Ford dealers in the metro before and I cant even get them to answer the phone, but Gabus Service Department knocked it out of the park with answering the phone quickly and communicating thoroughly throughout the whole process. 5 star service!!!!

I appreciated the excellent service I received from Charles Gabus Ford, and in particular, Michael in the service department. In the most recent experience, a module was replaced and transmission fluid was checked and topped off, the former repair my responsibility and the latter acknowledged by the service department as an earlier oversight for which they assumed responsibility. The vehicle ran smoothly thereafter. Both of my interactions with the service department and Michael - the most recent and extended situation in March & April of this year - involved a third party, the extended warranty company. The third party was not always easy to deal with, but Michael continued to advocate on my behalf, and on behalf of the dealership, and all matters were resolved favorably. I greatly appreciate those efforts.
Only issue is getting a service guy/gal to pick the phone. Experiencein shop is good, efficient, folks are helpful. Would recommend themfor auto service.
My six year old battery gave out on my FOCUS and needed replaced.I called Ben Howe, my contact at Charles Gabus Ford for an appointment and was able to get in the next day. The battery was replaced with the same Ford part as the original. After a half hour wait the Service manager, Robert Kritenbrink delivered my car to me personally after a free complimentary car wash. I have bought and serviced my last 3 new fords at Gabus Ford and have always been treated well.
Charles Gabus and Anthony G. went above and beyond to get us in a new truck. They worked with us on everything we needed and even got a new hitch that fit the pickup for our camper. We absolutely love the truck and the service we received from Gabus Ford. Will definitely go back next time we are looking for a vehicle.

I writing a review on behalf of a friend/mother figure of mine because shes computer illiterate for the most part. Theyve had her car for about 9 weeks now with no end in sight. The car is under a extended warranty and needs a transmission module chip replaced. No calls giving some kind of update ever. She was calling them on a daily basis at one point just to be told We still dont know anything yet. Its to the point where calling them for a update is pointless and a complete waste of time. Its like they dont care at all. Theres no loaners available according to them. Id never buy a car from this place knowing firsthand how they treat their loyal customers. NEVER.
Charles Gabus Ford was well organized- I first noticed a vehicle on the web site inventory and scheduled an appointment to come (2 hours) and test drive it. Sales rep emailed confirmation and contact info so it was very easy. Met in the lot and escorted through the process that could not have been better. First Class operation. Left the lot with my new ride- freshly cleaned & serviced and after personal instructions on the operation of all features. Even had my phone linked before my trip home. I had a couple of recalls done along with an oil change/routine inspection. I dropped my car off at 7:15am running perfectly fine just being dropped off in the service department for minor upkeeps. I was told it was done at 445, arrived at 515, and left at 525. Just as I turned out of the parking lot, the car died. Luckily, I was able to roll the car into the parking lot of the neighboring business. I called the service department back at 529, talked with Mike who had been my rep for the recalls done. The first words out of his mouth at 529 when the business closes at 6 was, “I have nobody who can come help you out. We are about to close. I can give you the number for a local tow company, and if it turns out that it is from something that we did, we will reimburse you for the tow, but either way, there is nothing we can do until tomorrow.” Obviously that was not the response that I was looking for stranded alone without a working car in the neighboring business’s parking lot. I told Mike that it was unacceptable, and he grabbed his manager who echoed the exact same thoughts as Mike. I then went across the street to another car shop, Tom’s Auto who also closes at 6. By the time I got there, it was 5:57. The two reps remaining (sales reps not shop reps) came with me across the street, diagnosed the issue in minutes, realized in fact that it was a simple issue that was caused by CG during the inspection that they performed during the checkup, and I was on my way.Long story short, skip Charles Gabus, and go down the road and shop with someone who actually cares about their customers and not turning a service to sale or about not helping their customers during regular business hours.
Absolute best experience at a dealership in a LONG time! I just moved to Des Moines, so even though my truck is 2 years old, it was my first experience with a dealership in DM. The service was fast, everyone was so nice, and they provided me with information on my service plan no dealership had in the past two years. Id highly recommend and I look forward to seeing them again (for preventative maintenance).

Generally, our buying process went well, save for one part. First, our sales person Eric was excellent. Very nice, willing to partner, provided great information and really helped us in the process.The sales manager on site was terrible. Never got a name, but completely unwilling to help or let us test the car for more than a short drive. There’s a way to handle people and he didn’t have a clue. Really not customer friendly at all and almost ended up turning us away from buying. Maybe better said, we bought the car because we liked it, in spite of his attitude. Another environment, and we wouldn’t have bought from him.The rest of the buying process was very smooth. Offered us car care and extended warranty packages without shoving them down our throat, which we appreciated. Had a group after we bought it walk us through the features and gave us some tips, which we found very helpful.So far, we generally like our Explorer ST. Nice car, comfortable, roomy. Drives well. Generally very happy with the purchase. The sole drawback so far is that the infotainment interface is working very poorly right now. Supposedly a problem with their connection with SiriusXM and the modules that support Sync 3. Never had a car that was so bad at providing the functions it says it should (Travel Link, recording on SXM stations, etc.). Hoping they actually do something to help, as it is making us like the car less and less by the day.

Worst dealer in town to deal with. Went in with transmission issues, was turned away as they told me the earliest they could check the vehicle was 3 weeks away. Called again after I had a report ran from a transmission shop, M&E, I recommend them. PCM needed recalibrated, still 3 weeks out at Charles Gabes. And they were going to charge an extra $140 for another diagnostic, plus whatever the cost to fix. Went to Dewey Ford, appt 1 week away. Will never go back to CGF and with how my Ram dealers have bent over backwards for me, may never buy a Ford vehicle again.

Toyota of DM recommended I have my vehicle fixed at CG after hitting a deer. After 2 weeks I was called to pick up my car. Upon arriving and seeing my car I noticed right away it had surface scratches all over the exterior and the interior was left dirtier than I gave to them.. mind you my car was brand new 2021 only a few months driven when I brought it in with the front end damage. I told Aaron who said they should have at least power washed the mats which clearly they didnt, also I noticed on my bill that they charged State Farm for covid 19 cleaning again they only sent it through the car wash. I asked Aaron to speak with manager so Sam came out I showed him the car and told him this is a brand new car I brought to you not a 10 year old one with scratches. Like I know you guys did this with your touch car wash or hand drying it. I never took my car into a touch wash for this reason. Sam agreed I know my car better than anyone else and set up a complete car detail paid for by CG, he promised buff and wax that would get scratches off and clean the film of dust off everything from the body shop leaving my windows down while the car was in the shop. After leaving the lot for the first time I could hear a sound of water sloshing around the front. I called on my way home to tell them and they said bring it back the new radiator needs burped for air. The next day I brought back they did their thing and assured me I was good to go. The following morning I go to get in my car and notice a pink liquid leaking on the garage floor. I called CG again they said oh its leaking now thats not good they told me to come back AGAIN to get more air out or something. So I brought it back again.. they did their thing for the second time now and assured me again I was good to go. The weekend passes and its Monday time to drop my car back with them AGAIN for them to clean the mess inside my car they made and buff and wax out the scratches on the exterior. Monday afternoon I get called to come pick up my car. I see the car outside for the first time since the detail it looked decent and clean at the time I couldnt notice if all the scratched were buffed out or not but I said thank you and left. Not even 4 hours after picking up my cleaned car I was driving down Hickman when thick white smoke starting rolling out of the front of my car to the point that I couldnt see, temp gauge was way in the red and warning lights came on everywhere that car was over heating. I stopped the car immediately. It completely leaked out all of the antifreeze. So here I am 9pm just got the car back that day and I am calling for a tow. The next day I waited before CG was opened to make sure they didnt pull my car in the shop to look before I could tell them what had happened. Employees arrived at body shop and I explained yet again ANOTHER issue I was having to which the man said you should have never had this problem, the car breaking down shouldnt have happened. so we take car into shop to look. At this point I have Aaron, another shop guy, the manager Denny and now a mechanic and my self all looking into my engine...nobody can seem to figure it out for the first few minutes until the mechanic (who wasnt the original one working on my car) goes around with his flash light and says you guys didnt attach the radiator hose here. Im standing there in disbelief as I could have blown my engine because of their negligence to check and double check their work.. I brought it in twice with this issue and was assured it was handled the the first two times now the third I had to experience the breaking down on the road, paying for a tow, and missing work again to deal with their mistake. Each time I had to come back after the initial fix was all Charles Gabuss fault not mine. Pics show the scratches still on car, I really dont believe they buffed waxed the car and my new emblem they installed only had for two weeks and its already breaking down flaking. why should I trust their word they have lied to me too many times

Ive been a long time customer at Gabus Ford. When it comes to getting our vehicles (2012 & 2020 Escape)serviced, I trust them. Their team is knowledgeable and friendly. Ive never felt that any recommended maintenance was not needed.
Tried selling me a vehicle with oil leak, would not negotiate on price so I could have it fixed or offer to fix it. They just want your money dont care about the quality of vehicle they are selling.
Had an oil change and warranty work done. Ben was very professional and friendly. Work was done in a timely manner. Had to schedule a long way out as it is hard to get in.
I bought a vehicle from them in 2019. I was looking at several vehicles so I didn’t check carfax since it was a dealership. I went to sell the vehicle in early May of 2021. The dealership I was looking to sell it to pulled the carfax and found odometer rollback. I was shocked that they sold me a vehicle with odometer rollback let alone without notifying me. Come to find out, their records had a 5 year gap in a vehicle that was only 8 years old when I bought it. I have service record history proving the odometer discrepancy in this time period. I was hung up on 3 times when I asked them about it and I just called back because I haven’t heard from them in weeks. Still nothing. They won’t even buy the vehicle back. I wouldn’t be writing this if they would have just apologized and bought the vehicle back but here we are. This is illegal and the 5 year gap in their records should have been a red flag to them. They never disclosed anything with me prior to purchase. Do not recommend, completely unprofessional.

Friendly service, shuttle drivers are great, my main issue is that they replaced something that wiped out my door entry code and didnt bother to tell me that! Later that evening i ran into a store and locked the vehicle, came out arms full and couldnt get in. Luckily the app on my phone worked once i sat all my stuff down on the wet ground to get it out. However, i dont always even take my phone with me on a quick stop, so it could have been worse and i was stuck somewhere locked out. This is definitely something they should explicitly tell people and offer to help them reset it right there when you pick up the vehicle!

Contacted Gabus 2 weeks ago to rent a van. Contacted Gabus today to book van. I was told today by Corinne Hall that summer conditions now apply. She quoted me a rate 40 percent greater than my earlier rate, said van had a one week minimum rental period, had extremely difficulty counting rental days and dates and was too busy to help this customer. Corinne Hall was arrogant and rude. She got angry because she treated me poorly. I took my business to a Gabus competitor, one that truely cares about their customers.

I never clicked anything to have them call me, the moment I replied STOP to their automated text I get a call from an old man claiming I hit something to put me on the list. I didnt. He was really rude about it too. Even if I was going to buy a new car, (I never will, what they charge for a new car today is absolutely absurd.) I wouldnt ever buy one here.
Traveling up i35 to Minnesota pulling my Airstream Argosy all of a sudden the 6.0 Turbodiesel felt and sounded like it had completely blown up. Limped 100mi to Gabus Ford in Des Moines, IA. I took my Ford Transit Connect in for a short-circuiting outlet in the 2nd row (another dealer tried fixing it but did not end up finding the problem). David and team in the service department worked tirelessly to help find the problem while updating me along the way. I am extremely happy with the level of customer service I was provided and Im happy to say that Charles Gabus Ford is now my go-to Ford dealership in metro DSM!
Very unhappy, first get a loaner vehicle (covered by warranty) then get charged $75 for detailing the vehicle for pet hair in the vehicle when I didnt have a pet in the vehicle. My son that is 5 got in with a blanket that had a little dog hair on it. How do you justify a $75 dollar charge for a 1 dollar vacuum or free at most places. Plus you have to clean that vehicle top to bottom because of covid in the first place.2nd I get my truck back and they didnt put my dash back together or my center console! Can I turn around and send them a bill for me having to do it myself! Not happy at all! I truly hope others get treated better. I spent $2,000 for the work on my truck. Lastly my truck was completely clean when I took it there and the last thing they did was replace my lock on my tailgate, oil all over my back of my truck. Didnt even bother to clean it off. They are ridiculous!!!!! They need to make this right!

Was approached by security and was told I couldn’t shop on their lot after hours. Ridiculous. I work until 8pm every night. I shouldn’t have to take a day off of work just to browse the lot. As someone who is LGBTQ it can be intimidating to walk into a car dealership--especially one known for trucks. But Josh was extremely friendly and patient. I wasnt intimidated at all. I love them they gave me a way better deal the. Dewey ford. Yes I did my shopping before I bought. Same window stickers they were 600 less expensive and they treated me like family over there yes they were friendly but I told them about the other deal, they said I could leave and they would get back to me. I gave them a week and nothing!
Went in to get a key programmed. Because it wouldnt work for my husband. Got in there the guy took it apart and within just a few minutes he had it working. So what would have cost us 300.00 the charles genus got it working with in a few minutes. Ask him how much we own him and he said no charge. Thoughts guys there no what there doing. And dont charge u for something that only took a minute. Thank u guys great job.
Everyone friendly and focused on their job. One thing I have notice the last 2 times I have been there, no one talks to the other department. This time my car was getting body work done. I also had my blue tooth go out and needed it to go to service. Service told me to let body shop know its to go to service after. I told the body dept. this when I dropped off. was called to say my car was done at the body shop 4 days later. I ask did it go to service they no but, I see that there is a note to do so. As the customer, I should not have to be responsible for how the shop runs.
Thought I’d try Charles Gabus Ford’s’ service center after having a bad experience elsewhere. How refreshing! The service area was clean and well organized. The people there were friendly and knowledgeable. My Service Advisor, Tonya, asked me if I wanted to use FordPass points to cover the oil change and tire rotation (that’s never happened elsewhere). I was provided some pricing on replacement tires should I need them in the future with a price match guarantee. They thoroughly washed my car cleaning off all the bugs from a recent road trip and pulled it up for me when I was leaving.Can’t speak to the car buying experience here (but probably will be able to in the future) the service here is first rate!

Bought a brand new f150 and was very happy until I realized they put a charles gabus decal on the tailgate after I signed the agreement. Pretty sure selling a truck as is and then altering the appearance with dealership decals WITHOUT EVEN MENTIONING THEM (unless buried in paperwork, sure sign of a dishonest dealership) is a breach of contract! Would like the decal removed and paint repaired. Go to stew hansen bought 2 cars treated me right both times no surprises. Could have made life long customers but slapping that decal on (without mentioning it) ruined the look of my new truck. We will see if they will make it right, after all they did it without asking. Shameless greed on display.

We were looking for a medium size SUV for a second vehicle, and they had a 2013 Ford Escape that seemed to be a very well maintained car. The sales person, Bobby Conant answered our questions and gave us info about the car. We were satisfied with Gabus Ford, and would shop there again.
We always enjoy shopping at Charles Gabus Ford and this time was no exception. We were greeted by Joe Green who was extremely professional and gave us more information than we could even imagine on our 2020 Ford Explorer choice. Joe appreciated that we wanted to wear masks due to the virus and he also wore one while we were in his office. He was courteous, friendly and very informative.
I had 3 concerns after I purchased my vehicle. 2 were not even addressed. I work full time for a large Iowa employer where I always want to exceed our customer’s expectations. I have come to accept that I can’t expect the kind of service from many places anymore. It is rare to find. I just feel my overall experience could have been better. With a large (at least to me anyway) major purchase I would like to have my expectations exceeded but they were just at about meeting expectations. Even if I was incorrect on my 2 requests it still would have been nice to have those acknowledged. I mean one was an owners manual. Maybe they stopped making those in 2016, the year of my car? I would still recommend Charles Gabus but you may have to buy a Ford or brand new car to exceed expectations.

From my first contact with Ed, a service advisor, for a recall on our vehicle, to the last person we spoke with, we were treated with courtesy, concern for our repair, and complete customer service! While waiting for the recall repairs I decided to look at and just get some ideas on a vehicle we were thinking about in the future. The salesman, Kelly Cornish greeted me just after entering the door. Asked what he could help me with and I told him I was just gathering info for a future purchase. We chatted about a couple vehicles, he took my information and stated he wouldnt call me. The next step was up to me. Refreshing for a salesman to back off and not try to sell you something! We talked more about a new 2018 Edge, which is what I wanted into on, and he politely asked if i wanted him to explain some if the programs available. After discussing several aspects and some terms, i spoke with my wife and she was as interested as i was. Knowing our current vehicle had a lot of miles on it and was going to start having more issues. He offered to see if we qualified and we agreed. Never once did he push us to go beyond looking. After qualifying we decided the deal Kelly had worked up for us was too good to pass up. I spoke with the sales manager, and others in the dealership and was treated almost like a friend. Nothing like the old Gabus ford from years ago. This staff was personable and genuinely wanted to help us with whatever decision we wanted to make. I cant say enough about Kelly. He listened to us and had answers we needed and let us go at our own speed in the decision process. He stated if we wanted to wait that was fine just let him know if he could help in any way. Back to Ed in service. He made sure we were happy with the repairs and immediately had an issue addressed and fixed. Well we decided to trade our newly repaired vehicle for the new Edge. The meeting was fair and they took care of all the hassles and paperwork. They made it very easy for us. The credit manager was just as nice as everyone else and explained every detail as we went thru the purchase. Then came Dillon in parts and vehicle delivery. This young man was so patient and knowledgeable and went over our entire new vehicle with us. From the new technology to explaining the coating for the paint, interior, and rust inhibitor they put on our new car. Its his job to ensure the vehicle is properly prepped for us, and when I found a flaw in a fender he assured me that it would be taken care of when they install the remote starter they ordered for our Edge. When we were all done learning everything he could teach us, Dillon, Kelly, and the sales manager all made sure if we had any issues or questions to stop by or call and theyd do anything they could to help us. Saying Im satisfied doesnt cut it. It was the best car buying experience with people that genuinely cared about making sure we were happy, not just selling a vehicle. Outstanding customer service, and some of the nicest people Ive dealt with in a long time at a large dealership! They have made a customer that will definitely come back when Im ready for another vehicle. Because they make it my decision not theirs by pushing me into a purchase. Fantastic experience and completely happy. Dont know how to put it snow m any other way. Perfect buying experience.
Do not do busniess with the dealership. Car sales racial profiling. I have never felt like a piece a trash before

I had a great experience taking my car in for work to be done due for a recall. The service person, Ed was very friendly and the work was done promptly. A plus is that they washed the outside of my car before returning it to me, which was a pleasant surprise. Thank you!
We were amazed at the exceptional service. It was fast and thorough, and they even washed the vehicle. The service at our previous dealer was awful, but Charles Gabus was wonderful.
