Awesome store! You can tell the owner knows his stuff. He is passionate not only about firearms but also the customers. The only store I have found including online retailers that had all the ammo sizes I wanted at very reasonable prices. Thank you very much for doing what you do, I will be back because of it.

They get REALLY busy sometimes. It’s best to go during a slow time because the owner can answer all your questions and give recommendations. He’s very knowledgeable and their prices are competitive. I buy and sell through them exclusively.

The exterior might look sketchy, but inside its very nice and the staff are all very helpful and knowledgeable. They have an amazing variety of firearms and accessories considering the size of the shop. I love supporting local businesses during these times, so even if its just to pick up some ammo its worth a visit.

Nice little and local shop. I really enjoy the knowledge and personality of the owner and his wife and have come to enjoy my many visits there and have enjoyed spending my $$$ there too. Prices have really gone up on several items but again, he is staying competitive. Wait time usually after working hours and on weekends. Parking and prices recently is the only reason I cant give business a 5 star rating but still wont deter me from doing ongoing business with them.

Was referred by a friend. First time gun buyer (owner) and completely overlooked at the safety mechanisms. Bought my S&W 2 days ago and when I got home, it didn’t have any safety mechanism and with two kids in the house, I felt that I could go back today, Monday 11/30/2020, to somehow resell it back to them and purchase another one from them, perhaps a more expensive and with safety mechanisms. I went in and the owner completely declined to do anything to help, he stated per state law he couldn’t exchange it, however I’m sure he could’ve bought it back and resell me another one. Owner didn’t have any interest to do anything or find a way to help. Zero customer service, I felt like my business didn’t matter. I wonder if they even care about your future business???

Ive used these guys as an FFL dealer for a few years now. Never had any issues, picking up is quick and easy. Small store but big selection inside for the space. Ive only bought 1 gun directly from them and that went smoothly as well. Theyre a local shop so you probably wont see the lowest prices around but theyre fair and knowledgeable. Recommended.

They dont look at you like youre an idiot because you dont know everything. And they will have some of the harder to find items you might be looking for. This shop was the transfer agent for my S&W shield purchased 9/2017. A few months later I noticed the front sight was off center and tried everything I could think of to correct it, but it wouldnt budge. I called the shop this morning and the owner told me to bring it in, and when I did he aligned both front and rear sights and didnt charge me one penny. Now thats great customer service/support! Ill be back.

Probably the best local gun shop in Des Monies. The shop is small but if you are patent and is able to speak to a employee, they will take the time to answer many questions so you are comfortable with your purchase. Their pricing is ether comparable to other shops or less. I enjoy visiting this shop and I encourage anyone to check them out if they are looking for any firearm or any accessories.

Ive bought several firearms here, even special orders when they didnt stock the exact model I was looking for. Completely satisfied. Prices are far better than the big chain stores. Small shop, sometimes a wait to talk to someone if they are busy.

Im a newer firearm owner and had never purchased from a local shop but have online. I really enjoyed visiting this shop. I enjoyed it so much I purchased a new handgun, they had the one I was looking for AND the price was less than anywhere I had seen it online. These folks and their shop are top notch. Jts is by far my favorite gun shop. The workers are knowledgeable about anything and everything. They have better prices than any other shop. That is why I purchase the majority of my guns here.

These guys are great - Very friendly, and knowledgeable. Its a family run shop with a great selection and some fantastic brands. Ive seen everything from a cheap .22lr to a Barret .50, and everything in between. Ive picked up a couple pistols there, and came close on some others. The prices are mostly right on with everywhere else - they arent gouging on gear like some other places or online. And at the end of the day, I dont mind paying an extra $20 to keep the lights on at a local shop. Many times they are even cheaper than online.The only down side is that they are ALWAYS busy, so be patient and theyll be happy to help you out.

Thought I would go support a local store in the area when I was looking to trade and purchase new guns. People who worked there were rude and short. They acted like they didnt want to deal with me. I bought 2 guns that looked good on the outside got them home took them apart and they were the dirtiest pistols Ive ever seen. Looked like they have never been cleaned!! Lint and fuzz balls inside, chunks of residue. It took me an hour and a half for each gun to clean them to the standard they should have been sold for. Will not be going back

I have nothing but good things to say about the guys at JT Guns...the people that give bad reviews are either confused or believe theyre so important that they should be first in line for everything. I stopped in during one of the busiest times of the day...the lunch hour. The guys let me browse and look around until they were able to help me, and they did exactly that...helped me. I was unsure of the best carry revolver for my own use, and both of the guys were more than helpful...they offered up a couple of preowned revolvers of the same type I was considering, which of course saves a lot of money when its something youre not going to be using every day. If what you want isnt in the store, theyll get it for you. Great job, gentlemen!

I sold a few guns to them and got a good deal and they got a good deal. I like that store.The only thing I really hate is that girl that constantly says beggars cannot be choosers WTF is that all about. I have seen people leave your store because of her BS attitude and the things she says. She has also told me this over the phone a few times when I would call to get price on rounds.

They had the guns and ammo when no one else in Des Moines had them. I will always go to JT Guns first.

The best gun shop in town!

I bought a ruger LCP from them a couple months ago... When I finally got it home I noticed strange big scratches on it. I should have said something sooner but I just didnt want to bother with it and felt that they wouldnt exchange it anyways... The gun was positioned in a way that you cant see it until you get it out of the box. I have a feeling this was used and sold to me as new... Needless to say I wont be making any more purchases from this store

I have bought new guns and transferred in an antique rifle. The owner and his staff have always been very courteous and professional. JTs is worth a trip to anyone looking for a good value on a firearm purchase. The shop is a Sig-Sauer Master Dealer with excellent pricing on new guns. JTs also carries a variety of other brands and accessories.It can get a bit busy on the weekends and the size of the shop is small enough with limited parking which can be a bit challenging.

I have done business with this shop for several months now. He is almost always busy, which might explain why his telephone manners might be rushed (hard to tell people who are waiting in line to hold on while he talks on the phone with people asking a lot of questions). Just saying... I rate him A+

J.T., and his staff are all very knowledgeable, but most importantly they are helpful. If youre like me then you find it annoying, and even discouraging when an employee pressures you, or makes you feel rushed into a decision that you wouldnt have made if you werent pushed into it. You wont feel that way here. They will pull out a hundred guns for you to look at until you find one you like. No BS, and no upselling. Just honest guys that have a love for guns!! 5 star establishment, and Ill be in the market for a 1911 real soon. ;)

Absolutely HORRIBLE! Customer service isnt in their dictionary! The owner is very rude and unprofessional. I purchased my .380 from JTs and shot it on one outing only and had troubles with it not locking the slide back. They looked at it and said they needed to order parts. 2 weeks went by and no word form the owner so I called him and he said no parts yet, maybe tomorrow. I called in several more times days later and he kept saying, maybe tomorrow. I was growing frustrated with him blowing me off so then he says, you can call Smith and Wesson yourself. I said, Im your customer! He finally agreed to call Smith and found that the parts were never sent so now they would send the parts I was told. Weeks went by...no word. I called and left a message and my call was never returned. I called AGAIN...The owner tells me he needs my gun. I said ok, Ill bring it to you. I dropped it off, a week and a half goes by, no call, so I called again. The owner says that the part didnt fix the problem so, now, he determined the magazine was the issue and he would order a new one. More than a week goes by, no call so I called in and asked for the owner and was met with an employee of his with an attitude! He tells me if it were ready Im sure you would have been called. RUDE and HORRIBLE customer service. I asked to leave a message for the owner to call me....never did. THREE days later (today) I called and he tells me its ready to come get it. ??????I went to get it and he wants to charge me for a new magazine for the new gun I bought a few months ago!!!! He tells me Ill have to send it to Smith and Wesson and wait for a new one! I said fine, Ill deal with Smith.I then told him his customer service was horrible. He then follows me out to my car and tells me over and over that I am not and that he worked on my gun for hours. I said your customer service is horrible, you dont return phone calls and you dont take care of the customer and that Ill deal directly with Smith and Wesson. He says go ahead as I got in my car then I hear him shout...F.U!.............. Cant believe this guy owns a business! I will never go back there and I will make sure that my fellow shooters hear about JTs.

First and foremost i have been buying/trading and selling firearms for 10+ years. Thatbeing said, I stopped in with a rifle in hand because the shop says We buy guns. Waited 8-10 mins while the lone shop keeper helped another customer, which was no big deal as I was not his first or only customer. The part that struck me was when he asked what I had and when I told him he quickly told me he wasnt interested... didnt even let me finish my sentence nor did he want to open the case to take a look at what was in it... A clean, customized gun with ALOT of extras that I was looking to get bottom dollar out of. Unbeknownst to him, I had a couple other rifles in the car and was also interested in purchasing $1000+ firearm. He told me to have a nice day before I could offer up the others or tell him what I was looking for. So, with his arrogance In hand, I went west on Douglas Ave a few blocks to another shoppe and traded in 2 rifles and a pile of cash for a $1200+ gun as they were quick to ask what I was looking for and super helpful....even with their power being out.. P.s. during my 8-10 mins to find out he was not interested, I was able to browse the store and see that they are over priced on most of their new and many new firearms. Will never stop in again .
