Store is well stocked. So far, most desirable items are only 10% off. So there can be receipt shock at check out.

This may be one of the last KMARTs I know about. The store is exactly like it was in the 90s, many of the shelves are not fully utilised, and they have weird odds and ends. However, what this store has that others do not, is Santa Clause! He stopped on by for a quick howdeedoo a few days before Christmas. That alone bumped up my rating from 3 to 4 stars!

We saw one customer buying red color King Size Adirondack and we asked that customer what the price was she said $4.49 so I went and took a look where those chairs were and there was a white color same price which there was a tag written on the chair it said King Size Adirondack $4.49 and it exactly had a sticker marked King Size Adirondack and you can easily see the proof on the photo I have shared. This price was also confirmed by an employee and we were ready to buy 6 of the chairs and we requested them to hold for few hours because that time my vehicle was small so I had to bring my van. We asked the manager which her name is Sandy if we could pay now so we can go pick up my van and then we come back so then we just have to put the chairs in the van but she said no your not able to pay now but we can hold it until 9:30 pm. So I said that is totally fine. So after the Manager Sandy said that was fine we drove 30 minutes back home and we came back with the van which that was another 30 minutes. We go inside and she rings us up and price comes regular price $17.99. She did not give us the sale price for $4.49 and it was confirmed by an employee plus youre able to see the price with the tag and in the chair. Manager Sandy told us some customer must have put the sign by the chair but how is that possible because the sign specifically says King Size Adirondack for $4.49. The manager Sandy also new the employee agreed with our sale price. This should be simple once sale price is on the chair for $4.49 and it says on the tag King Size Adirondack why should I drive back and forth if price is regular. I wish I was able to give this store a review of 0 stars. The tag also didnt mention any specific colors so I should have got this chair for the sale price. I am sure that I will never step into Kmart, 1155 E Oakton St #4214, Des Plaines, IL 60018 store ever again. Customers avoid this store!

Huge collection and always have good deals

Gotta love how their going out of business sale is a racket. They have printed labels stuck to the products, with a list showing percentage off lowest ticketed price. HA! The discount price is the REAL price; the labels are fake higher amounts so you THINK youre getting an amazing deal. No wonder theyre outta here. See you never, lousy lying corporation!

This will always be my favorite Kmart! Looks very nice now & theyve finally added more to their fresh produce/dairy section, a huge improvement. Im a loyal fan since the 70s when my Dad would take me for the blue light specials. It still brings back wonderful memories. I also love their Route 66 & Attention clothing & accessory lines-both very good quality & cute designs. I still get compliments on a multicolored route 66 scarf I bought 10 years ago every time I wear it. Same thing with Attention dresses. I love telling people Its from Kmart & watching their expression. I did all my Christmas shopping in 2018 there all great deals. There is something for everyone at Kmart. Sad to see this & Sears go to the wayside. Lets all get off of AMZ every so often. 👌

This store is closing. Markdowns are not every good. It looks sad in there. Desperately needed updating. Nevertheless, It’s kinda bittersweet to see them all go. A lot of memories with Kmart. My parents would always take me back to school shopping and buy me Christmas gifts there as a kid

BEWARE!!!Their Blowout Closing Sale is nothing but a scam! All they did was raise the prices and then applied a discount total joke and the typical scam that’s been around forever and they don’t care because if the stuff doesn’t sell they’ll just write it off for the full retail price anyway. Walmart and Amazon’s regular prices are better then these prices and that’s why they folded to begin with bad management.

This is best store in town for all essentials for my house, reasonable price and good quality of course. Staff very friendly and always welcoming. Usually not that busy so doesnt have to stay in line for long. Go in and out quickly.

Good sale on kids diapers and surprisingly good sports shirts selection. Friendly workers at check out. Would gladly come back!

All I can say is amazing! The staff and leadership team were so helpful. Our 16 year old daughter heard about the BIG 95.5 concert with Granger Smith at a K-Mart in Des Plaines over the radio. We showed up not knowing you needed to win a ticket to attend! We arrived early ...and voila ..... the staff at BIG 95.5 gave our daughter a ticket. The concert was awesome! Up close and personal. An experience you would never get at a concert ...even in the first row. The music was amazing. The small crowd was courteous and well mannered. I am going to watch for more of these opportunities. Again, K-Mart staff and BIG 95.5 staff were amazing. Thanks to K-Mart for hosting such an amazing and impactful event for our daughter (and us)!

Like most people, I had felt that K-Mart wasnt the go-to place it once was. Nonetheless, I gave it another chance and now I feel it is unfortunate that the corporate leaders have decided to shut down the last K-Mart in Illinois. I say that, not because of nostalgia, but due to the fact that whoever was in charge of promotions and merchandise was making this place relevant again by stocking items that were becoming difficult to find anywhere else. At times they were even competing with the on-line providers by stocking the product in store at less than the on-line price. I now believe this decision to close is premature, because K-Mart had started re-establishing its niche in the marketplace. I believe that in time the business would have been growing again but corporations arent known for their patience or foresight. They see things differently than the customers do. What I saw when I came to this particular K-Mart was a store that was very well integrated with the surrounding neighborhood and had regular shoppers. Too bad headquarters didnt see that loyalty as an asset it could continue building on. Too bad they couldnt return that loyalty to their regular customers by keeping the place open. Now, if I want to find the items I started buying in Des Plaines, Ill need to make the trip to up to Kenosha or Racine, Wisconsin, because those will be the next closest K-Marts near me.

As this is one of the few remaining Kmarts in Illinois it was a little busier than I thought it would be. It seemed like it was still stuck in the 80s on the inside though. A bunch of open floor space. Hopefully it will survive to see another year.

Wife likes shopping there they carry a line of ladies pants she likes along with other things.

I love the sale in this store but when you want to return something be prepared to deal with teenagers that arent willing to help. Store is trying to improve but they should start with the employees. Pay them a decent wage and they will be nicer!

So a few days ago I went to Kmart to get snacks and it used to have a good selection of them. Emphasis on used to. They didnt have their signature chips anymore and they had limited food items as well. Their fringe was barely even full. They have every other department in their store covered except for their food section. A bit of a letdown.

Very few left but always good place to find things that other big stores dont carry.

Well stocked and very clean. They have remodeled the store and it is brighter and better laid out. It is similar to Target stores now. They opened up another register when there was a line. Good selection.

I have never visited this store, but before coming I called to make sure they would have some produce on the sales floor (because back in 2016 Kmart remodeled this store to have a fresh food selection, this would make this store the only one with produce since the closing of all Super Kmart Centers) But of course, Eddie Lambert was at it again, removing ALL of the fresh food, dairy, and packaged chilled items from the Store, making the only grocery chilled item you could buy would be milk. I have a problem with this because first of all, you just cut fresh grocery from the people that live near the Des Plaines Kmart, which makes it harder to eat healthier and have fresh food items on hand. And why would you close all of the Super Kmart Centers when you were making the double profit on general merchandise and fresh grocery, why?!? And keep open the old stores that are gross, no one can understand your business strategy Sears Holdings!! I love to shop at Kmart and actually I was going to visit the warren Ohio kmart (the last Super K in existence) but they had announced it was going to close and took out all grocery before I could get there, I was very sad because I never was able to experience the awesome of visiting a Super K, there are people out there that are hurt from Sears Holdings Closing Stores, and they never seem to understand, if you agree with this review, please comment on it.

I wish I can give 0 stars to this store HORRIBLE staff and customer service while I was there another customer went off on the manager arguing about a price that they said it was other than the price tag was? the same thing happened to me i had a shirt with out a tag which was the last one on the color I like so I brought another one with a tag on and they said it wasnt the same price how come is a different price when is the same name brand and same style it was on the same shelf too...No wonder why Kmart is going out of business

Only go there if you are curious to see extreme rudeness. Especially this one manager named Judy, extremely rude to customers.

Only go when I need something quick since its close to home. They have good products but their checkout service could improve, theres usually only one cashier open even when theres a long line.

I give these 5 stars to the pharmacy. They are very personable and helpful! As far as the rest of the store, I would have to agree with most of the other reviews. No one goes out of their way to be even minimally helpful and the wait in line is excruciating. Its very disappointing because the store is very convenient for me and I would love to give them more business.

In store music selection is fun, 90s-2000s. Seems like they want you to keep shopping as they usually print out some decent coupons for the next shopping trip. It has been a log time since I shopped at a k mart, and they are doing a pretty good job of retaining me as a customer...

Its the only kmart in Illinois. Its near clean and organized. It a shame that evil Eddie listed this a a location that will be closed. I hope he changes his mind. Because I have made several trips here from steger Illinois just to shop here. Please Keep This Store Open

I ordered 5 pack of tank tops from Kmart. Hanes brandwhen i received package it was new but it was only for 4 Tank tops . i had to go to storeand make an even exchange with correct item 5 tank tops as my order says. however uponthe customer service reviewing my order i not only had to go out of my way to get this itembut they charged me $1.15 extra. to make the exchange. next time ill go to store to make the purchase

Definately a step back in time, we had to go even though we needed nothing that night. I didnt want to say we had a chance to go but missed our opportunity.I would love to go through Goldblatts on Western ave, Zayre, Venture, Montgomery Wards just one last time.This store is huge and the variety of merchandise really surprised me. There were no blue light specials (not even sure they still do it?) Although they have everything from babybuggies to kayaks the variety of the merchandise is limited.

Very poor service I got on a skoot because I couldn’t walk and I couldn’t drive good because when you are trying to look at something and go there you can’t because you can’t fit so they have to make more space and some lady screamed at me because I accidentally crashed to something and they told me I had to get off and I tried to look for stuff but they don’t have it so that store is really horrible they also did not want to take us where it was and when I was trying to but on something there was a lady looking at me but I wasn’t in the fitting room because it was something little and they where more people with us and she wouldn’t stop looking at us. And there are stuff all over places and they see it but won’t pick it up

The worst Kmart ever. My friends and I walked in to take a look at the stuff and this group of employees kept looking at us. Very rude staff. They clearly followed us into the aisle and then a guy who wasn’t even an employee asked us to leave. I believe the employee asked a customer to ask us to leave. Unbelievable, I do not recommend this Kmart.

There is no close on t to my close.. they shut down.. and their billing is kinda putting of, yup they have kids working in the front desk who are nothing but help. Useless people. Store is ok. They always seem to have what Im looking for at a fair price. If they didnt have an item in the store, the service desk was able to order the item for me and ship it to my house for free. I hope this store stays open for years to come!

I absolutely adore this Kmart. The aisles, lighting, the aroma and OMGGGG THE PRICES! People really need to start spending thier money here because it helps out this once big chain store. My husband said lets go to Walmart to buy the detergent. I said NO!! I dont care if its $1 or $100 that I spend. I will spend my money at this Kmart. The Kmart next to my house off of 290 on Addison closed and I died a little. Then I saw the last closest store to me was the one one Des Plaines and as soon as the doors opened omg the nostalgia hit me. My childhood, my Christmases, my mothers day . my bluelight sale, my points,, my neon yellow clearance sale this Kmart is the essence of my living. I love this store. F the workers if they are rude which I have never encountered.Who cares!! This Store is worth my hard earned money.

I got my first job at this Kmart in 1970, so this store did not open in 1975 like the newspaper says. It opened in 1967. We lived right across the street on Lee St. and watched the store being built.

Its like going back in time to the late 80s or early 90s. Its understaffed and the shelves are empty. I dont even understand how theyre still in business honestly. There was literally aisles with nothing in them,and the food in the freezers looked like it had been there since 1999. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone.

Every time I go here the employees dont know what their doing. It took forever to pick up an item bought online. I couldnt even get any rewards points because I didnt enter my account info online. You cant give them your account info at the store. Once you buy it online thats it. I dont know if it was the employees fault and didnt know how to enter it. Or if it was the systems fault. I also tried to buy a refrigerator there and it was a terrible experience. I was there for 40 minutes trying to get a refrigerator that was advertised online . multiple employees came around and didnt know what to do. They kept trying to get me to put the info again and again on different computers or tablets. I ended up just leaving without anything.

Employees are not very friendly at this location they seemed annoyed or bothered when asked questions. Perhaps they dont know their way around the store yet or it could be that most of them are all high school students. I will only return back here if I have no other options

As much as I hate the name, still a great place to see a ballgame. Plenty of great food and drink options and they finally are moving on a plan to get back to the top of the division.

I grew up with Kmart so said to see it go. But for now get what you need asap before its gone.

I shop this Kmart every so often. It is VERY clean. The employees are very nice and helpful. The shelves are stocked full, no problems here.

Was unable to get gift receipt in afternoon. Was asked to come back tonight. Still unable to get receipt to scan and give gift receipt. Had to return all items, then buy again to get gift receipts. Would recommend upgrading cash registers/system. Thanks to customer service counter for your help, even though you were not happy to have to do that chore.

I have always loved Kmart. I get points when I shop. This day I bought tops on sale, when I checked out I had over $37.00 in points.

I called on the phone to check status on my order. They put me on hold for 20 minutes, and was transferred to another department. Then I was put on hold for another 10 minutes, only to learn that they couldnt find my order. Same thing happens when I went in to check on my order and they were not able to find it on the system. Later on they told me the order was cancel! Not to mention, the woman who picked up the phone was extremely rude and had a very exasperated tone. She was NOT interested in helping me, or anyone else. Use a different store!!!

They have recently redone the store and I love it. Super cheap produce, and I always seem to have a ton of rewards points to use from the shop you rewards sales.

Really great place to shop. The only reason for the 3 stars is that it literally takes FOREVER to check out. You can find employees all over the store, but there are never more than 2 checkout lanes open at a time, no matter how long the lines are. Their POS system is way out of date.

I wish i could give them zero stars. We walked inside the kmart to look and potentially buy something, but before we were down browsing we were kicked out for no reason at all. We may have been loud, but does that really warrant being kicked out? Also may i add that the person who kicked us out didn’t even work there. rude staff

They change their departments so often I could never know Forsure where things are. And they have no technology anymore, only a few TVs and headphones. No Ethernet cables or anything for video games. I don’t know why they downgraded on their technology but definitely disappointed.

They had my husbands christmas bear so hes happy.

Ive been waiting for 20 mins so far for a deep freeze I want to purchase. They have no idea if its in stock, how to enter it in the register. Still standing in line at the register..going on 30 mins. Really close to walking out. Unsatisfied with this wait. No one knows whats going on.

Has a good selection of clothes. Cashiers are slow and rarely say hi and ty to you.
