Great lumber store. Cant leave it without a smile. Extraordinary variety of wood species. Very friendly and helpful staff. They can custom order wood species and special laminates. In stock they have more variety of sheet goods then I know what to do with, plus all those hard to find woodworking things like high quality finishes, veneer, edge banding in different sizes and species.

Fantastic service, high quality materials, and quick to execute. Used them for a large order of precision-cut 3/4 birch plywood and did not have a single issue. Owl is the place to go for all your woodworking needs.

Great place to get high quality and sometimes hard to find types of lumber - milled, panels, boards, live edge etc. - in hardwoods the big box stores dont carry. Their prices reflect the quality of material. If youre looking for finish/furniture quality lumber, this place is great.

The variety, quality and ease of access of their stock is refreshing. They have plenty of the common woods soft and hard of many different thicknesses, and also many exotics often in a wide variety of thicknesses and lengths. Best of all, the price of EVERY BOARD is displayed on the board. So nice. Staff is very helpful and courteous.

Huge variety of lumber, great big warehouse. Wish they had more turning blanks of different sizes, but you cant beat the board length choices. Wenge, purpleheart, gaboon... lots to see and people to help you cut it.

Owl has an exceptional variety of hardwood and softwood lumber in nearly any dimension youd need. All prices are clearly marked on their stock of materials and their rotating assortment of live edge pieces is worth a monthly visit just to take a look. This is also the place to buy real Baltic Birch plywood but be prepared to pay for the quality of the real thing.In addition, the staff here has great knowledge of their goods and are just fun to talk to if youve got question about a project or something you are interested in ordering / purchasing.

I went to Owl Hardware today for the first time. I was treated with much attentiveness and politeness, and professionalism. The gentleman who took care of me, Steve, was very helpful, knowledgeable and patient as I had many questions. He made me feel comfortable, and took the time to show me around the shop. I am a self employed carpenter and loved all the variety of wood, sizes, etc. and the prices were very reasonable. I will definitely be returning and will definitely recommend Owl Lumber to anyone needing wood. They also sell lots of stuff for refinishing wood. I love this place! Im an avid wood worker that is always looking for something different to turn. The only reason I didnt give it five stars is because of the price. I know exotic woods come with a price tags but even their cutoff section is high. All in all a good place they have quite a bit of lumber and great staff. Keep up the good work.

I love Owl Lumber. I consider it the best lumber yard in IL. Their selection of wood species is incredible. Theyve got mahogany, zebrawood, walnut, elm, oak and many exotics. They have many high end items you dont see anywhere else, such as a complete slice of a tree to use as a table top. Its fun to go in there and just look. They respect the tree and the art of the tree. They also have a great selection of moldings, like crown molding and base molding. Little known fact, they carry laminate counters in colors you dont see elsewhere. If you live in the Chicagoland area, you should check this place out.

We recently went to Owl Hardwood to purchase Maple Wood for a keyboard tray we were making. They have an AMAZING selection of wood and the service was EXCELLENT. We ended up having them do the work in making the tray, cut/dowl/glue to a specific width/length and was suppose to be up to a week and we got it much sooner. The tray itself is beautiful. Its 3 pieces of maple but you can barely notice that its not even one piece. These guys are amazing!

An excellent resource for amateur and professional carpenters and trades. Have been an intermittent regular for nearly 20 years and they have maintained a quality product for the entire time.

I called Owl for help and advice on trimming out an odd sized fireplace. It was a small but complicated project. I was impressed with the attention I received . From my first telephone conversation with Terry who fielded several phone calls and went out of her way to send me photos and information, I was impressed with the staff.The trip was worth the long ride. Brian took the time to help me blend trims and come up with a good design for the project. I even got alternate directions to Chicago via a famous hot dog place. The place was packed with contractors, but if you are the lay person who needs help and advice, go here.

In my 61 yr.s, unquestionably the best experience with a business of any nature I have ever had. Briefly, I took delivery of a large(for me) order of baseboard, casing and misc.poplar and finished ply for completion of a big renovation demanding custom on sight fabrications, some of to be determined character. All specs and materials were designed and overseen by the finish carpenter who suddenly had a massive stroke prior to start. He was not able to recover and then communicate the grand plan for completion. The guys and women at Owl worked patiently and fairly with me while I had to go back to square one as a new finish carpenter was found and plans formulated again. The Owl organization is thoroughly honest, helpful, knowledgable and thoughtful. They helped me when it wasnt their responsibility to do so and I cant speak highly enough of them. Thank you.

Great lumber hard to find that hard to get molding you couldnt find anyplace else. Their prices are on the high side but they have just about every kind of wood you could be looking for and do specialty ordering and work also.

As a contractor I have to say that OWL is a great place to buy all kinds of wood products such as specialty plywood, moulding, various species of wood in dimensional lumber also they lay any veneer on site for custom panels.
