The London Chop House never disappoints!!!! From the moment you arrive and are greeted by Dorian the doorman, you are transported to another era when fine dining was unparalleled. Delicious food is served by an attentive server, and Bjorn, the General Manager, checks to ensure everything is to your satisfaction. It is truly one of my favorite places. The history is evident and its a dont miss when in Detroit.
The food was great! We got the filet mignon Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes and it was delicious! I was so in love with it I asked for more to go. They are extremely expensive but so worth it. The appetizers are good too but the last thing is the dessert was good just not the best I feel they need more options. My husband had a peach cobbler pie cheese cake and he had to drink coffee to balance it out he enjoyed it just not as much as the entree which again was HEAVENLY!!! I only wish I took a picture of my entree but I took a picture of the desserts and my appetizer.
My husband and I went there for our 16th anniversary for the 1st time, came in and got seated totally by luck... The wait staff was so genuine and compassionate to our needs, They made room and made us feel like family ❤ when we sat down the food was amazing, so the whole night turned out to be a win-win!!. This restaurant deserves 10 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Cant wait to see you all in December💚💚🧡
Wanted a change of pace in celebrating my husbands 50th birthday ... So instead of going to The Whitney, I made reservations for the Properly Attired The London Chop House . We were greeted with a smile by Darrell the Door Man and went downstairs to the cozy restaurant. We then were escorted to our table, a lovely quiet corner, all the staff saying Happy Birthday as we passed. They even wrote a little Happy 50th Birthday card for him. After a nice cocktail of a well-balanced Gin Collins, a Southern Belle Martini, and warm in-house made wheat baguette, we started with the Smoked Roasted Pork Belly - it set the tone of the whole evening; the appetizer was like butter. We followed it up with the Birthday Mr. having the Australian Double Cut Lamb Chops with a side of Bernaise and me with the 28-day Dry Aged Boneless Ribeye with a side of Au Poivre. Both were cooked in Garlic & Herb Butter. We shared the Roasted Brussels sprouts. I admit, I decided to go out on a limb because in NEVER had dry-aged steak before, and am not into gamey flavors. BOTH proteins were like the aforementioned pork belly - so silky, luxurious, and like butter. I think I cried on my first bite. I even tried the chops... I really liked it (and I dont like lamb in general). We finished with the their luscious version of Carrot Cake, complete with buttered bourbon sauce and sizzling carrots. Yes, folks, light airy Buttercream makes it all awesome. So happy to have had this culinary discovery. The Mr. was quite sated... And I was judged by a cat in a hoodie at the end of it all. TY, London Chop House for a most exquisite experience.
I didnt care for the french onion soup but everything else was tremendous. The short ribs was excellent and the ribeye was outstanding. We topped it off with a delicious dessert. After all of that, the manager granted free valet, thats customer service! But I still tipped the valet!
We had our anniversary dinner here, and everything was exceptional. I was skeptical of the crab bisque, since I love lobster bisque, but I have a new favorite. Steaks were very good and wine list was superb.
Everything about this place is special. We only discovered it 4 years ago by accident after having a bad experience across the street. The manager made us feel so welcome. Since then we come for both the most special occasion down to a casual date night for a bottle of wine and appetizers.
Worth every penny! From the time youre greeted at the door to the last bite of the decant chocolate dome, everything is pure perfection. London Chop House is what one expects from fine dining. The service is top notch without waitstaff hovering and the food is impeccable. I havent had a steak so well prepared, well, ever, in metro Detroit. I am wowed by it all. The menu options are simple, but elegant, American classics consisting mainly of meats and vegetables. Even the salads were beyond expectations. In addition to the food, the atmosphere suits my personal preference: 1930s/40s interior decor, dim lighting, table cloths, and even Frank Sinatra crooning from speakers. You will pay for all of this perfection - dinner for two was around $200 (one split of champagne - so if you drink, that will be a higher tab). For a special occasion, a great value for a perfect evening.
Great decor and wood work, decent service, great food and drinks. The night I was there they had a guy playing the piano. Very nice overall.
A wonderful dining experience! The food, service and music was exceptional. Will definitely return.
Best door man Ive met in my life, started out the atmosphere on the right note. The restaurant kept on kicking with amazing live music and an amazing selection of food. The rib eye was amazing! Best chop house in the area by far
I chose to dine in at London Chop House for my 22nd birthday and they did not disappoint. My only complaint is not receiving a gift card or birthday dessert on the house (i.e. cake slice, ice cream scoop) given we spent over $1k and they did not allow any outside food which is understandable. I’ve been to various fine dining restaurants who have shown their gratitude in this way. My favorite aspect was the ambiance- LCH is a must try! Of all the food ordered, the scallops were my favorite! All staff were phenomenal including the doorman! BTW very pricey be prepared to spend about $100 pp that’ll get you an appetizer + steak no sides. Worth every penny.
Not the best steak in Detroit, but the best steak I’ve ever had anywhere! The staff and management were just fantastic. I sat in the same booth Henry Ford used to sit in. The interior decor takes you back a century with the finest woodwork I’ve seen in a restaurant or building for that matter. My compliments to the chef and staff. I can’t wait to come back.
Spectacular food. I reserve five stars. This place deserves recognition. The wedge salad... How do they make the dressing so good? My chicken dinner was out of this world, and my friend got prime rib, best hed ever had. The wine was delightful. The chocolate dome, not to be missed... Just eat the dessert! And get it with coffee, because anything less than the full experience is selling yourself short. Im going back for sure. Make a reservation, but if you dont have one, you still may get the bar. The service is excellent...a must visit, not for a tight budget, but worth every penny.
Wonderful service, perfectly prepared steak, and live music. Excellent dining experience!
I had the Ahi Tuna and it was the best I had in my life. Food is amazing. Its an upscale place so dress. Men can wear a collar shirt and be fine. The menu is pricey.
Absolutely one of the most sought-after steakhouses in the city I recommend you choose this place first over any other steakhouse in the metro Detroit area. The ambiance is something that has a old yet new feel. Youll be greeted by a person at the door who will walk you downstairs in the basement to experience your best meal in Detroit.
Omg 😍 this place is perfect! From the time you walk into the door they provide a wonderful experience. Even the bus boys are top quality. The steak...🤤 it’s the best I’ve ever had. The macaroni tastes like god himself made it! 🗣 They took very good care of us and I can’t say enough good things about this place. GO HERE!
Was excited to come to LCH for the 1st time. Waiter Pete was wonderful, drinks were great, oyster rock were delicious, beef tips really salty. Now for the dinner. Everything looked great buttttt.......Read on reviews the Mac & Chez was made by God. No not here. It was good but I’ve had better. The mash potatoes were not creamy at all, dry and tasteless. There were four of us out for dinner. One got the lamb chops. Couldn’t believe they’d serve lamb chops with so much fat. Shame on LCH for that. I had the the shrimp, fish, and some cream dinner. It was good but my fish had tiny bones in it,,,so wasn’t enjoyable for the price setting. 3rd dinner was the special fish of the day. For $70 it was not worth it. I’m just sad it was a disappointment and I had high expectations for this place.
Very pricey for the quality. I ordered the 12oz filet medium rare. Outside 1/4 in. was well, and the center was completely rare maybe 85°. Lamb chops were great! The food was good all around, maybe the chef was having an off day.
LCH is my ultimate fine dining go to! Tonight was my third time visiting, and they still set the bar high!!! They called us in advance to make sure we were aware of their dress code! Their door coach, Dorian, was happily welcoming! The hostess who checked our coats in was personable! The jazz music and the slightly dim lightning created a nice relaxing ambiance!!! The food was soul shaking! Our hostess for the evening was Stephanie! Job well done, Stephanie!!! For our drinks, my boo bear ordered a margarita, which he said was perfect, and I ordered a grenadine and sprite (a Shirley Temple), which was tasty. Our starter was the Slow Roasted Pork Belly (pork belly on drizzled tamarind syrup, coconut and ginger reduction, & topped with celery leaf and cinnamon carrots that resembled flakes). Our main entrees and sides were a la carte! So, I ordered the Double Cut Lamb Chops (lamb chops seasoned/cooked with tomato jam, sherry and pearl veal reduction, and fresh rosemary. Those lambs chops were so tender, it came right off the bone with my knife!! My boo bear ordered the 6 oz. filet mignon cooked medium! Deliciously seasoned to perfection! Our sides were the Brussel Sprouts with Bacon Sweet Potato and Maple, the Garlic Mashed Potatoes, and the Mahon Reserva Mac & Cheese! Looks definitely deceived us on the brussel sprouts, as we initially thought it was slightly burned. Boy were we wrong! They were flakey and a mouth full of life! Not a single crisp was burnt, but was bursting with flavor! The garlic mash were nice and smooth! The macaroni was a delicacy, as well! We ordered our desserts to go! I ordered the Double Chocolate Dome (A chocolate truffle filled chocolate dome with encrusted nuts at its base, with a raspberry sauce, and shaved/rolled marbled chocolate). My boo bear ordered the Peach Cobbler Cheesecake. Now my boo bear hates cheesecake in general, but for some reason his love for peach cobbler led him to trying it! HE LOVED IT!!! London Chop House is fine dining in its purest form! We will be back soon!
Very good service the wait staff is excellent, they go beyond to make sure your dinning experience with them Id a-1. The only thing that made me give them 4 stars is because I ask for my steak to well done an it was lightly pink, but it tasted kind of gamey. Didnt like that but the steer on the steaks good. So when I got home I redid it in the oven it still had that gamey taste like deer meat or undone lamb . Thanks
You can’t go wrong with this place! Everyone is so nice, the food is amazing, and the doorman Dorian is THE BEST PART. He is such a nice guy, and really adds to the atmosphere of the entire experience.
1 star for the poor steak. We ordered foie gras & wagyu steak, and bone-in ribeye. None of them taste that good:——The wagyu steak is sadly burnt and the meat didn’t mixing well with Foie gras, I only can taste oil fat from the foie gras.——It was a good quality ribeye but I would say the chef ruined it. Outside was burnt and the fat seems separated from the meat, which gives me a boring taste of the steak. I only finished 1/3 of it.4 stars for the steak tartar. The tartar itself was a good mixture of sauce & chopped meat but the side bread, sadly burnt and hard to chew.5 stars for the non-alcoholic strawberry cocktail, surprising taste and food pair for the savory food.1 star for the dessert, the chocolate bomb has no different with what I can find in Costco, maybe Costco one taste even better. The strawberry you can clearly tell was dried out and not fresh at all. The Coconut Ice cream is mediocre, better than chocolate bomb.1 star for the customer service. The host she was a sweetheart I love her, but for the server who served our table: We could not find her when we needed her & she seemed very unhappy when we asked question. She seemed desperate to leave since there was a table asking her to go there.Overall 1 star. I love the live performance ambience. but as a high end restaurant, the food taste itself (freshness, taste, quality) & customer service, I would say it’s not even reach the average level****To the rude owner, please feel shame on your attitude and please pathetically serve the food to the poor customers. You guys should be the one taking care of yourself but not me :)You will be OK, LCH!!!👍👍👍 hope you beat Costco one day!
Me and my husband went here 7-23-20 for our Anniversary. The food was amazing. I had the crab cocktail which was tasty! Also, the 24oz ribeye that was cooked to perfection. My husband had the 32oz porterhouse. Everything was absolutely amazing. The band was nice. I would like to add I love the QR code menu that you can pull up from your phone. Love it! We will be returning soon. Anyone reading please go try this restaurant. You feel welcomed as soon as you walk in.
Loved the place, from the doorman, to the music, to the wait staff, to the meal! This was a great experience. Some creative dishes to try. All very tasty.
We had a lovely anniversary dinner here. the atmosphere was everything from the live band to our waitress (Lola) down to the manager for letting us in with no reservation. Eddie V doesn’t stand a chance
We expected a five star experience for our 50th wedding anniversary dinner with family and friends but what we received went well beyond that. The staff, the food, the drinks and everything was perfect. We will be forever grateful for the outstanding service and how special we were made to feel. Highly recommend this great restaurant for any event small or large.
This would have easily been a 4 star without our personal experience being slightly marred. It was a 2 fold negative, first crab shells in the soup my wife ordered. I get it, deshelling crab sometimes is difficult, but when you have 2 sharp, pretty decent size, pieces of shell in a soup that sometimes does not always get chewed before swallowed was unsettling. We informed the server who passed it on to the chef.Second was the bill. They accidently added a second glass of wine for my wife who only had one and accidently charged 5.00 for the single ice cream scoop as opposed to 4.00 which it says on the menu. Taking that into account led us to be a little bummed they did not comp the soup. If not for the accidental overcharge on the bill, we could have easily overlooked the soup still being on the bill, but added with the over charge, it just left a bad taste for the experience overall. The ambiance was exactly what I like, dark wood everywhere a live band playing jazzy type music. The service was friendly and attentive, the food was very good. The mac and cheese was fantastic and the filets were good, not great like I expected, but still well above average albeit slightly under seasoned.
Lamb chops that are delicious and soothing live music. It’s such a great place to enjoy some special moments and wonderful evenings.
Had an amazing time celebrating our anniversary. The staff and service was attentive and friendly. The food was top notch and cooked to perfection.
I took a group of people out to celebrate a significant career achievement and unfortunately the shortcomings of the London chop house overshadowed the evening. We paid a deposit for an 8:30 PM reservation which was unavailable until shortly after 9 (we arrived at 8:15) and the drink service was so slow we only just received drinks in time to walk them to a table. Once seated, service was exceptionally slow. We were already 70 minutes past our reservation start when we were finally able to place our dinner order (9:40 PM). Reservation time ran from 8:30 - 10:30 and it was past the end of our reservation before dinner arrived. To make it worse, one of our group found Saran Wrap in the midst of her macaroni and cheese. These was especially bad because she had already been served a soup that was very spicy despite being told there was no heat. For a group of six to have a meal cost about $1,000 that included Saran Wrap in Detroit is wildly inappropriate - and the discussion with the manager - I believe she introduced herself as Julie - yielded no more than the insincere apology you would expect from a Karen who slammed her grocery cart into your vehicle at the supermarket. The highlight of the evening was the gentleman that greeted us at our arrival - he was extremely welcoming and had an element of excitement as he said “welcome to the London Chop House!” - if only we had been able to deal with him all evening long perhaps the night would have been as expected.
Me and my wife Enjoyed every bit of this place, the staff, food, live band, and setting as well. They made our anniversary extra special, we will return.
The food, the atmosphere, absolutely everything about this restaurant was above and beyond. The food was some of the best Ive ever had, and they had great drinks too. Highly recommend as a place to take someone special
Over salted tartareOver baked breadOver cooked ribeyeRotten strawberriesCostco quality dessertDisappeared waitress*Now, plus rude and poor manager attitudeIf you want to really create a fancy restaurant, please spend your money on the right place. At least cooking food in right way and training your employee professionally. The only good dish is the drink, because the drink base made by sprite not by your people. If this restaurant located in any of other big city, there are only worth 0 star for both food quality and customer service
For a party over 4 people, a $25 deposit is required PER PERSON, which is understandable.. however, my party of 8 people included a 2-year old, 3 year old and a 5 year old who wouldn’t be eating their own meal since the restaurant has large/shareable sides, they would eat the sides with their parents. I spoke over the phone and asked the restaurant manager if we could only pay a deposit per adult and he said no because the toddlers would still be taking up a seat. The others in my group were upset and didn’t want to eat here anymore so they decided not to join me for my birthday dinner which is a bummer but I still went with my family as a party of 3. The restaurant wasn’t even packed, the large round table was empty, the restaurant lost out on money for trying to be boujee. The valet guys were welcoming, the hostess to seat us was kind and our waitress was prompt and knowledgeable about the menu. The live music was a nice touch, the food was delicious. It is dark inside and the cell service is a dead zone but they do have strong WIFI.
When asked about my favorite spots for dinner, the London Chop House is most certainly in my top 5. The food, service and atmosphere always impresses me. You know youre in for a wonderful evening when youre invited to the Chop House. I have been here quite a few times and they always serve the most amazing food. Quality is top notch. They also have live music, even on a Monday.Listen Ladies, if someone takes you to this romantic place for dinner, you know one thing, they have great taste! I think you can most certainly give an extra star for the effort. Class act in my opinion! We had amazing drinks, the tequila infused pineapple is seriously dangerous...oh so good! The filet perfectly cooked and the crab legs absolutely mouthwatering. He suggested dessert, I was so full, but how could I possibly resist a chocolate mousse dome? No willpower!!! Lol ....oh and the Spanish coffee fantastic. On a side note, the upstairs cigar lounge hasnt reopened yet....bummer! :(But not to fear, there are quite a few after hours lounges nearby.
Amazing experience. The perfect place to take my boyfriend for his birthday. Justin, our server was incredible. The service and food are top notch.
Always a great experience. Steak tips and crab cake are so good!
The London chop house was just great. Fantastic steaks. Super apps, and cool Sinatra vibe. Really neat place. Service awesome too!!
Went here with high expectations for a special occasion after hearing about it.. was actually quite shocked that it not only lived up to the hype but surpassed it. Calamari appetizer is some of the best Ive had. Staff is extremely courteous, from the doorman to the server, everyone goes out of their way to ensure great service. They serve creekstone steak options as well!
Wonderful dining experience! Of course our filet was great. But the crab cake appetizer we ordered was bursting with flavor, too! Great live entertainment on a Saturday night. Vast selection of wines and craft cocktails, too, as you would expect from a great steakhouse. Overall, a top notch experience!
Was there in Nov 2019.AMAZING DETROIT Place a TRUE MOTOWN VIBE. Detroits best kept secret. Cant wait to take my wife here once our idiot fixes covid issues here in Canada. The prices are not cheap, but the steak was amazing
Dinner was fantastic! Spent a lot of money but it was very worth it for my girlfriends birthday. Would recommend to anyone looking to get a great meal. Food time was great too. Only wait 5-10 minutes for our appetizers. Another 10 minutes later our entrees came out. Dorian the door man was awesome too. Just a great experience overall
I really liked the atmosphere in this restaurant. They had very good live music which was subtle so it didnt disturb at any point and added to the atmosphere. Service was very good. We were a group of 7 and all meals came at the same time. I ordered my Ribeye Steak medium rare, but it came well done. The waiter agreed immediately and brought it back to the kitchen. Unluckily the 2nd steak I received still looked rather medium but it was great. The dessert was almost to much for me but worth it. I definitely would come back.
Perfectly done steak. Macaroni and cheese was some of the best Ive had.
Fantastic and the best service to boot! Love the Doorman!
$100 ribeye is terribly disgusting and I am a through and through ribeye loving woman.
Thee best service. The door man was amazing to the hostess to our waitress was amazing. And we were just in time for the piano player. Best experience. My second time going.
We celebrated 52 nd anniversary ar this place and found it to be as special as our occasion. The food and services were excellent. Our waitress was responsive and congenial. We would likely choose LCH for our next special outing.
First off, this is a steak house which means you should order steak. If you do order steak you will have the best steak available in Detroit. The LCH is the only restaurant that understands and knows how to cook a steak in Detroit which by the way is Pittsburgh style. The chef has a beautiful crust on the steak exterior which seals in the juices on the interior and creates a spectacular flavor perfectly medium rare. If I am wanting a steak the only place I go is the LCH. Everywhere else is in the rearview mirror.Thats pretty much all you need to know!
Just an amazing experience all away around. Best steak in the D
Definitely going back, loved the atmosphere and food!
The cats meow, very good. That someplace I would generally go on a regular basis because its quite expensive however is a treat or special occasion it is absolutely one of my favorite restaurants
First time dining. Food was amazing. Will visit again!
Absolutely fantastic dining experience and high class service.
Atmosphere and service was great. But the food was super salty. 4 out of the 5 items that were order were very salty, didnt even get to enjoy the meal. All we were able to taste was salt. Very disappointed in the quality and taste of the food. Horrible experience.
Excellent food, excellent service! Nice upscale intimate venue, worth every penny! Our server Justin was awesome!
This was my first time dining here. Jaime was our waiter and he was TOP NOTCH! Our concierge at the entrance was 100 grand. The hostesses at the entrance was firing on all cylinders. The other wait staff was very attentive. Excellent evening and the food? Chile, it was gone with the wind fabulous!
Wow! This place was amazing! We got the royal treatment in the private dining room. The service was excellent! The bartenders were very very good to us and made sure that we could have anything we wanted to drink. They went out of their way to make sure that the bar was stocked with things that we would want and showed off their skills throughout the night. The wait staff was also very attentive. The food was divine. I was there for a client dinner so the menu was prefix but the choices were fantastic. The steaks came out perfectly and the seafood was to die for.And if you get a chance to go to the Cigar Bar, I highly recommend it. The choices in the cabinet covered the entire range of options. Even if you dont have a long time to hang out there they have short options (literally called short stories), that are delicious.
Great staff. Excellent food.
Great food and atmosphere. Perfect special occasion spot
Great food! You cannot go wrong with this place. I definitely want to check out their cigar lounge next time I’m there.
Oh my GOD! What an awesome place, great service from the doorman to the coat check and hostess, then our waiter Pete was everything. I will definitely be back.
Well I typically read reviews before I try new places and right away I can tell I won’t be going to this one. The managers responses in the reviews and terrible responses to paying customers complaints shows a lack of concern for customers and ability to run a professional business. Will not BE ATTENDING. I spend too much to waste it on anywhere who doesn’t care about my money won’t get it.
From the doorman to the hostess and waitstaff, everyone was polite and helpful. Even the pianist was pleasant! Would recommend!
Ive been hearing great reviews about this restaurant and ended up getting reservations for Valentines Day Weekend. I definitely recommend getting reservations before hand if youre thinking about coming to this restaurant. It got pretty packed to the point that the host asked (after completing our dinner and sitting there for awhile) if we could move to their lounge area (cigar lounge, pool table). While doing so they did provide a complimentary drink for the inconvenience. I order the lamb chops and they were cooked to perfection. The servers/staff were friendly and attentive to your needs even with a packed house. The manager stopped by our table and chatted for a min to make sure our dinner was up to our satisfaction. For it to be a high end restaurant, our bill wasnt an arm and a leg.
Clean, tasty, friendly all the time Whenever I come to the D I get happy about this place
From the minute we pulled up to the front door to the minute we left it was an extremely wonderful experience. When we pulled up to the front door we were greeted by the Valet and the doorman. The Valet quickly took care of the car and the doorman escorted my friend from the car to the front door. Perfect personal and professional service. We checked in with hostess and explained we would first like to have a drink at the bar before being sitted at the table.
One of my favorite places in Detroit, from Dorrian the Dorman to Victor behind the bar everyone is amazing here . Then the food and desserts are even better. Gotta have a chocolate dome with extra extra berries 😉
This place was excellent for a nice date. The food was great.
Awsome dinner for our 45th Aniversary.
Everything was amazing an A+ experience. Food and atmosphere was like an old time speak easy. Service was lacking though. Sheila was very nice but it seemed like it was her first day. When asked basic questions about the menu she was unable to answer and made things up, I think she needs a little bit more training and she will do fine.
