I like that The Congregation is all about local community. The staff was very friendly and helpful. You go up to the counter to order and the gentleman helped give me ideas on what I might like. There is plenty of seating on cushioned seats inside and park benches outside for large gatherings. The area outside is very green and well taken care of with fruit growing near by.There is not much of a sign out front and it can be easy to miss if you dont know about it. The entrance is around the left side up the porch steps. It can be a good place to bring kids with the outdoor space for them run around in. Also they seem kid friendly with a kids step in the bathroom by the sink.
Drinks were top notch, and I mean so tasty and so so so good! Service great and staff was so personal and friendly. Loved coming here to meet a friend. Super chill and unpretentious vibe.Wednesday is farmers market which was cool to experience too!Food was also amazing! Can’t wait to go back!
Wonderful atmosphere inside and out; its welcoming and comfortable. Theyve got some of the best bread Ive ever eaten. Id highly recommend a sandwich and a cold brew. Good service and nice people.
Such a gem! Super cool and unique place. I love how they’ve maintained old bits of the church from the organ to pews and even the concept of gathering with awesome outdoor space complete with picnic tables, lawn space and a deck. Definitely a great spot to meet up (safely!) with friends, family, neighbors. There’s even a playground across the street. Coffee and sandwiches are excellent! Everyone is super friendly, and they sell local artwork!
I stopped in for lunch and fell in love with the place. The spacious indoor seating and outdoor seating. Additionally, its right next to a really nice park. There are a group of ladies playing music and dancing so I had a little concert since I was eating my turkey sandwich and drinking my mocha coffee outside. The sandwich was great and the coffee was great. Around 6:00 a live band starter playing which I was not expecting. And they were quite excellent. I would have stayed later but I had some errands to run. I will definitely be back.
This place has such atmosphere! I am so pleased that instead of demolishing a beautiful church building it has been converted to a place where people can still gather in the community. The staff is always so kind and cheerful. The rose cardamom latte and their chocolate croissants are amazing. Lots of unique seating and tons of outdoor seating as well.
Perfect place for this community. Coffee is great, so is the beer and wine selection, and the rotating cocktails are always something you’re in the mood for. Staff is super friendly and always goes the extra mile. On top of ALL OF THAT, local rotating artists have work displayed inside, and consistent live music (when COVID and weather allow). Can’t say enough good things.
Okay so my sister took me here for my birthday on Saturday I absolutely love this place The aviance was very relaxing and cool The staff was very helpful and friendly The place was very clean and a great conversation peace I love the architecture of the building considering it was a church they also offer bonfires and alcohol beverages all morning and all afternoon going into the evening I had a turkey sandwich that was absolutely phenomenal Ive most definitely will recommend this place kudos to the owner ❤️💯💯💯
Never disappoints! The Congregation is a former church thats been converted to a coffeehouse and bar with indoor and outdoor seating. Theres a limited food menu. My recommendations are the BBLT (Brie, Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato) sandwich, Chai Latte tea (cold or hot) and the St. Valentine cocktail. The cobb salad and the charcuterie tray was good too.
Such a beautiful spot on Rosa Parks Blvd. When I visited, women were doing a dance exercise class outside, and customers were so friendly, checking out our baby and our dog. A good place when it feels like community!!.
Such a cool vibe! Great food. Coffee was amazing. And it was awesome to see all the non-alcoholic options they had. Cant wait to go back!
Awesome building. Very hip, new space. Its obviously popular and theres frequently a decently long line at the register. The coffee is good and a good price compared to similar cafes but the food costs a little more.
A unique experience in an unusual place!!This is the best way to describe my time at The Congregation! The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming! The food was absolutely amazing...I ordered the BLT with Brie on Rye. The sandwich had a great flavor, the quality and value was worth the price... I would definitely suggest it and order it again. The ambience was perfect! A very nice place to relax and unwind... Meet up with friends... go on a casual date.. Read a good book... I love that its family friendly and has a little play area for children... But its not limited to just an indoor space and extended with a nice outdoor area as well! I enjoyed and appreciated the vintage feel and a lot of the natural character that was kept throughout the building.
A staple for us! I have never had anything less than expertly made. We come for the coffee and stay for the cocktails ;) Love the focus on community with numerous events and rotating artwork for display/sale. Truly a gem!
In Detroit on vacation and The Congregation was recommended by my son. We stopped in on Saturday around noon. The Congregation was very busy with minimum staff and the wait to get coffee was fairly long. Service was average but the coffee and food were very good. Very unique building and setting. Outdoor and indoor seating but the volume of people coming in gets very congested. Enjoyed the Congregation, check it out.
My absolute favorite place to go for a drink, a coffee, a great environment, exceptional staff and a wonderful food menu. I enjoy remote working from here, outside or inside and also enjoy just coming here to hang out with friends or read on the patio. They have local art work on display every week, pop ups, farmers markets, etc. A staple to the city. If I could give a 6/5 star rating I would.
Love congregation! Beautiful building, great outdoor space! Staff is wonderful and food/drinks are delicious. I love the Wednesday afternoon farmers market...such a great neighborhood gem!
Such a cute little coffee shop. Love the restoration of the old church. They have a nice market on Wednesday’s and the seasonal coffee drinks are fun to try.
Fresh coffee and the best smoked salmon bagel Ive had!
Ive only been for the Wednesday farmers market and that is not the best description for the approximately 8 tables mostly selling baked goods. I can recommend Walter Pats and Village Hand Pies if you make it Wednesdays between 3 and 7pm.
Feels like another land. A magical, mystical land where time stands still and all is good with the world. This place reminds me of being in Europe somewhere... It has a strong sense of nostalgia, knowledge and excited ambition... Makes me want to come here to study every day, like i would somehow gather more information gazing at the picturesque outdoors through the giant windows behind the counter. The food here is amazing. How they packed so much flavor into that simple Turkey croissant is beyond me, lol. The brew, hot or cold, is on-point, delicious and effective..!! I leave here feeling full, fullfilled and alert, ready to take over the world... Lol. The outdoor seating is very peaceful and has a calm, meditative vibe. This art project pictured was totally unique and fun to interact with.. I am starting to love this place... 😍
Cool spot to sit outside, inside is a beautiful renovated church. Drinks were good but service was a bit slow so there was a long line at times.
Beautiful coffee shop inside of an old church with great food and drinks - definitely will be a new favorite spot for homework ☕️
Amazing experience with low key chill atmosphere
Excellent service food was excellent Avocado Toast
Decent coffee, nice selection of cocktail options, nice sandwiches, crazy fair prices, great space that also frequently (as in, like, nearly every day) hosts community events. Its always very popular and a little too loud for me to be my preferred coffee spot, but I certainly understand the appeal!
Love love love this place. Indoor seating is so cute and comfortable. Giant outdoor space to sit on benches on the lawn or up on the heated balcony. Wonderful mix of people family friendly. Looking forward to making this my new study spot. All around 10/10!
What a cool place! It’s a great atmosphere and very fun! The staff was awesome especially Brenna/ Breonna (I should have asked how to spell it) We had a great time at my cousins wedding. Thank you.
Locations like this are so rare, wonderful location, great mix of people, and music you dont run from but run too. Fantastic
The Congregation is a church upfitted into a coffee shop / bar. Its a beautiful venue inside and out, and they host fun community events - check them out on Facebook. They have great drink options whether you want coffee, tea, or alcohol, and have some cafe items as well.
The aesthetic is unique. There really is no place like it anywhere Ive been. It seems to effectively tow the line between a bustling coffee shop and a calm, quiet one.I had the matccha drink and it was AMAZING, but Id be interested in inquiring whether they use a basic matcha mix or not.
The Congregation was our best find of our day outing to Detroit. The ambiance is awesome and the service is fantastic. Plenty of seating and places to unwind. Tasty treats and great 🍸 combinations. Very cool neighborhood setting.
Loved it! The food and drinks were delicious, and the ambiance is amazing. Great staff too!
Great if you have 45 minutes to wait for your food, I guess. We went at about 12:30 on a Thursday. We ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and turkey sandwich off the menu, plus a coke and iced tea. No special requests. Easy peasy, one would think. Granted, there was a bus group already inside, but we were given no indication that there would be a delay in our order. Otherwise, it wasnt that crowded.Communication with your customers goes a long way in avoiding bad reviews. I understand that getting good workers, or any workers, is a problem in a COVID world, but this pushed the borders of acceptability. As for the food (once it arrived) we both enjoyed our sandwiches, but had to gulp them down to get back to work.
Great indoor and outdoor space. Works for the entire family. Nice selection of coffee and pastries. Would highly recommend.
First Time at thisNew Best Kept Secretin Towmn.I Came here to meet A dear Friend whom I havent seen in a few Years.Had A Ball ran into my Former Neighbors Nat & Joan Morris.Look Forward to going Back Soon.
A definite must see! The expresso martini was great n the menu of signature drinks- interesting to say the least. I still cant forget the to go pew............unforgettable.
The Congregation is a whole entire vibe! The food is amazing and we love the various events hosted here.Definitely one of our top spots to relax with a glass of wine on the deck.
Very chill vibe on Thursdays from 6til 9pm. Great beverages I really liked the Spicy Mocha and the pastries and salads are top notch
This trendy little coffee shop opened just a year ago and while the outdoor seating was a hit in 2020, the inside is roomy and absolutely gorgeous (it was originally a church building, look for the pipes from the organ!). They serve not only hot drinks, but beer & wine and food items too. Look for live music on the porch/lawn in the warmer months and fire pits in the cold.
Nice chill spot to lounge have a few drinks or coffee/tea with beautiful outdoor area
I truly, truly enjoyed the Congregation! Wonderful atmosphere and great food! You can either dine indoors or outside!! Highly recommend and I will be going back again!
Its nice to have this in the neighborhood. Great coffee and tea drinks. Beautiful inside. Spacious inside and out with heaters for outside dining. Its been pretty packed many times Ive been with a not very diverse crowd. Hopefully that will change as more people learn about it.
Its a pretty good spot and the service is really good, the people that frequently go are very friendly too!
Nice, different.Limited menuBut tasty.I like it is in the Neighborhood.
Love the food and love the lavender coffee. Love that they have vegetarian options.
This has to be the best coffee shop in the state. The atmosphere is amazing and the menu is to die for. Im sadly moving out of the city but will make the drive to come here again. Id highly recommend making a trip!
Really great place. Good food & drinks.
This place has great food and the outdoor seating is really nice
Great to sit out and unwind. No music blasting outside so you can just relax or have a chat without shouting
Wonderful place to stop on a Saturday afternoon or anytime. Great spot, hospitable staff and delicious food and drinks.
Went to a Art showing. Beautiful. Comfortable atmosphere. Friendly customer service representatives...
This is great spot to get excellent coffee, pastry and/or treat, exceptional food, and of course great spirits!Great ambience as well!
Great outdoor spot and a nice indoor space as well. Really solid sandwiches, and Im not even a big sandwich kind of guy. Im not really sure how theyre able to jam-pack that many people in there during covid, but thats why we had our coffee outside.
Delicious Turkey, clean with good service.
I love it here! So welcoming, great selection of food and staff is super focused on fantastic customer service. My favorite is the veggie sandwich on multigrain!
I loved the food, and the setting was casual. Its crazy how much you can do with a church lol. Keep up the good work
Good food, good service. I will go there again!
Delighted neighborhood joint. A MUST STOP for coffee/cocktails. Serving Great Lakes coffee at this time. They have an expanding menu. Great outside seating in warmer weather. Stop in and tell Tim sent you! 😆🤣😂
Quality drinks, and bright atmosphere. Must try for anyone.
My first time here. The vegan donut with jerk coconut bacon tasted surprisingly better than it looked.... And it was beautiful.
Beautiful restoration, fabulous food, and great atmosphere.
Amazing food, lovely space, and a relaxing atmosphere. I look forward to returning soon and bringing friends and family.
Good af great place for meetings and coffee
The place is beautiful. The coffee is amazing. I had a chai latte and it was delicious. I also has their sugar lemon cookie, which had a nice taste, not too sugary, perfect with a cup of coffee. It is in front of a park and the outdoor sitting is the pews from the church. I can definitely see me coming back.
Great drinks, great vibe, great service! Will 100% come back when in town!
Not the best first time visit, they forgot 1 of the 2 coffees on my order and the lady was rude when I informed her of this. Also, pretty sure they made it with regular milk rather than almond milk...I’ll know for sure in about an hour...Decent prices nonetheless, will most likely return to offer a second chance
Very confusing. Food was Meh.
