Friendly shop with personal attention. No need to stand in the aisle wondering what wine you should buy. Alan is always helpful and extremely knowledgable and often times recommends a bottle priced well below what I had intended to spend. Thank you!

Always pleased, never disappointed. Thank you for taking the time to ask questions about my preferences, answer my questions about pretty much everything, and explain such a complex topic like wine, in such an accessible manner. This is my go-to store for gifts, such as bourbon, and wine recommendations for myself. A special place in Durango.

This is not a “quaint little wine shop.” This is Plato’s ideal wine shop. The burgundy collection is absurdly wonderfully curated; on par with a London or Paris wine shop. Additionally: They carry tiny production rare varieties like a 2010 Vin Jaune from Jura or a Lambrusco Grasparossa di Castelvetro. Those are difficult to find in NYC or San Francisco: but not apparently in Durango. Alan knows wine like good writers know language and if you are within 400km and a wine lover, you really ought to make the trip.

This is the best place to get wine or spirits in Durango. Alan is incredibly knowledgable. With his guidance, I once bought some white wine as a gift--it was so good that the recipients still talk about it to this day. Great selection and amazing service all around!

Alan has a great palate for excellent wines at a reasonable price. French, Italian, and Spanish wines are all very well represented. I am a regular.

A wonderful wine shop filled with quality wines of all sorts from the best of Burgundy to amazing and affordable everyday wines. The shop is on the smaller side so I dont feel overwhelmed by an incomprehensible selection, and since they just bring in the best-of-the-best I always leave feeling confident with the bottle (or, 3!) in my hand. The selection and quality of wines is wonderful, but the reason this shop stands out above the rest is the owner and his knowledgeable staff! They are extremely personable and enjoy helping you find a wine youll love. I leave each visit knowing a little more about the world of wine than I did when I walked in. This is a real neighborhood wine shop filled with people who love wine and are eager to share that love with you!

If I could give them 10 stars I would. I called from out of state to have some Champagne delivered to our relatives visiting Durango! Not only was Alan extremely knowledgeable about his inventory of champagnes, he was patient in explaining nuances that I didnt understand and gave me the skinny on all of my options! I am not sure if this gentleman is the owner but I can tell you there will be many successes in his life - he knows how to make you feel like youre the most important customer and definitely goes the extra mile!! My only hope is that I will be able to buy wine from him in person! Thank you so much!!!!

I love this wine shop! And they have more than wine! I love buying my hard cider there, too. Alan, the shop owner, KNOWS SO MUCH about wine. Its amazing. I can go in there with a general idea of what Id like and my price point and he ALWAYS suggests a super delicious wine. Go here before you go anywhere else in town!

On the recommendation of Ryan who manages the superb wine program at Durangos Ore House restaurant, we stopped in this wine emporium before heading off to Santa Fe. Allan, 1/2 of the duo running this shop, is passionate and knowledgeable about wine. He understood my funky, barnyard palate and patiently explained his recommendations. We utterly enjoyed this experience, unavailable to anyone living in the controlling theocracy of Utah. The more years I live in the Beehive state, the more the oppression upsets me.We purchased too much wine, but I cannot wait to taste the interesting bottles Alan (I used two spellings of the name just in case - Allen?) suggested. Put A Cork In It, is just another feather in the cap for the city of Durango. (Put A Cork In It/Feather in the Cap - play on words- get it?)

I wish I had a wine shop just like this in the mountain town where I live. Put a Cork In It will always be a stop when headed through Durango. They have a great selection of value wines that are not the same labels you see over and over again in most stores. Plus, some wonderful $30+ bottles if you want to treat yourself!
