This is a must stop shop every time we visit Durango! I dont know what everyone else is talking about...the owner is amazing! She makes beautiful jewelry and is very knowledgeable about all of the very authentic items in her store. Would highly recommend to everyone if you like quality items at great prices.
The store for the area especially is very cheap on pricing. Nice items. but she really is a bit abrupt. So dont get too upset its not you she is weird. A very liberal old hippie that will feel free to tell you her opinion or what she dies not want going on in the store. At her age I would be abrupt also how much longer has she got. If you can deal with her you will get the best native jewelry for half the price of others.
My family and I stopped in here while on vacation in February 2020. I had my 2 children with me, ages 11 and 6 at the time. The owner is straight forward and a little blunt, yes, but she’s amazing. So intelligent and creative. My kids spent almost all of their trip money here on beautiful souvenirs. She even took some jewelry she was working on off the back wall to show my son (11) and discuss it with him. I bought some great pottery for a friend, along with some jewelry for me. The prices were fantastic, especially on the small carved wooden animals and fossils. I was looking this place up so I could share it, and noticed the bad reviews. Please give this place a chance and chat up the owner. This shop is one I can’t wait to revisit in the future.
This is a must stop for me every time I come to Durango. I have been coming here for years and the owner is absolutely AMAZING!! It hurts me to read these reviews from entitled people that don’t respect her shop, her hard work to maintain a small business or her COVID policies. The jewelry she sells is beautiful, well priced and she is EXTREMELY knowledgeable about all the pieces in her shop.
A great shop and Donna is wonderful. The Shared Blanket is on my list everytime I stop in Durango.
Truly wonderful inventory of Native American Arts and Jewelry, but the owner was extremely RUDE, and I opted not to purchase a large necklace from her. Would sugfest to buy any investment in these cultural items somewhere else.
Ok so yes the owner is blunt and isn’t afraid to tell you to put your mask on or to not manhandle things in her store. But she was amazing with us, very knowledgeable about the artists of the pieces she was selling, where they came from, the names of the artists, etc. Once you realize that she is just trying to run a business and preserve her pieces that she works hard to sell for, you might understand her behavior. I thought she was ecsentric, funny, and dry humored, which I find hilarious. And yes, don’t bring your kids here. She loves kids, but when running an art shop, it can be stressful with little fingers picking up everything. I even told her I would never bring my son who is 20 months in here because he would immediately destroy everything. Great store with amazing works of art from local tribal artists and we will definitely be going back.
The lady who runs the store is EXTREMELY rude, and snappy. I found a few pieces I was interested in buying but I will not support a store like this. At one point she yelled to a group of incoming customer “you have to leave there is too many people in here”. Great customer service...NOT!!!!!
Love the selection of pottery, jewelry, and art that Donna offers. With the depth of knowledge she has about the artists and their family, you get the sense that this means a lot to her.
Very rude woman, I’m assuming was the owner yelled at me and my son for touching the plant in front of her store! I will never return!
Love the selection of native artwork 🪶
The lady who runs this store is incredibly rude. Nearly every store we went through was polite and friendly and welcoming. Not this one. She was unfriendly, dismissive and wretched. Such a shame because this shop was one I actually would have liked to have purchased from and we left because of her nasty behavior.
If I could put 0 stars I would. As soon as we walked in we were encountered by an extremely rude lady! Seems to be the owner of the place. Pretty much kicked my son out because he was touching some rings that were not even worth $20. THIS business will not last if she does not do something about herself.
Just like the majority of the other comments the owner is super rude and not knowledgeable about her products. Dont buy from this place.
Nifty place. My issue was that they had a sign explaining that Damascus steel is a layering of MILD steel and TOOL steel. You do not use MILD steel in the edge of a knife. Made me questiin everything in the place. My wife on the other hand loved the place and bought some jewelry.
Cool little store! Large sections of native american merchandise! Friendly and helpful staff! Pretty good prices on things as well.
This is a wonderful authentic shopping! The people are genuine and so are art objects. Donna explained about each artist. Truly a learning experience, I really appreciated all that she told me about the art and the artist. Dont miss stopping by to see native cultures.
The woman tending the store was incredibly rude to me and my family. I wanted to buy my wife a several hundred dollar rug but she refused because of how wed been treated. There was a young gentleman there who was kind and helpful but the proprietor was awful.
Nice shop. Great pieces of art and artifacts. Terrible staff Not recommended. I was there with my young child hoping to buy some Alaskan carvings. I left in disgust after being told no less than three times by the woman working there that the merchandise was fragile. Being a parent of a small child I understand the womans concern, but my child WAS NOT TOUCHING ANYTHING. I know this for a fact because I was holding my childs hand the whole time. I was holding my childs hand in the shop because as soon we entered we were stared at by the woman working there and told how easily the displays could fall over. Clearly she did not want my business.
Beautiful items, and great prices. The owner was very nice and incredibly helpful!
A Shared Blanket is one of my favorite stores in Durango. The store owner has a PhD in anthropology and the items that she sells are authentic from indigenous peoples from around the world. Take time to ask her about the backgrounds of the artists and crafts people she represents. She knows all their stories. But most of all the quality of the items is absolutely outstanding and she charges a reasonable price for these wonderful goods. Each time I go to Durango stopping here is a Must for me.
This is not open until the hours stated ... tried going 3 times on vacation with fail . To bad because I love this shop
The jewelry and products are incredible but the customer service is not acceptable
Amazing little shop with wonderful jewelery, baskets, and other items. Great staff.
Your store is beautiful, your collections are amazing, your deigns are creative and YOU Donna, are so intelligent and knowledgeable on your subject matter. It is always a thrill to visit!!
Amazing Native Amarican Gallery! Beautiful work by all the southwest Natives and more! Superb customer service! Donna Frank is wonderful, very knowledgeable in the arts, very helpful. I go there everytime I visit Durango, at least twice or more a year! Thanks Donna and to all your artist!None. :)
They were very very mean! To me and my kids. The two ladys that were working followed us around heal to toe the whole time to make sure we didnt steal anything. Horrible people.
Customer service is terrible! Jewelry is stunning but I hate going into the store for fear of the woman running it.
Very nice jewlery.Rude sales lady.
My favorite place to shop for gifts. Everyone weve taken to the store loves it.
My receipt shows I bought a Dan Gwynn knife made in the U.S. Get home and my research shows it is an Elk Ridge knife made in China. Watch what you get.
