Wow. We stopped off after a visit to the post office and we’re so glad we did!My wife got a strawberry lemonade mimosa and I got the rose mocha espresso (with actual flowers in it - nice touch), our kids shared a strawberry lemonade- they were all sooo good. These came out after just a couple minutes.The meals were also very good. Lots of flavor and great ingredients! These took about ten minutes to come out.They have a good few outdoor tables, but you can go inside for the restroom or to by some of the items for sale.We’ll definitely be going there again!
Saw this was a top restaurant to try. I Came here for a brunch with a friend from out of town. The food was decent but could have used a little more flavor. Only complaint is that my friends grits were cool and not hot so they were a little sticky. The soup was warm and not hot. Nice area to sit outside and eat.
We went in for a couple of espresso drinks and the barista took off her mask and and stuck her nose in our drinks multiple times and even said “I don’t know what I’m doing.” That is so gross even not during a pandemic. The drinks tasted burnt so all around a bad experience. I’ve liked Bull & Bean in the past but this has made me not what to come back.
🤔 well I believe this is a very tasty place, unfortunately the breakfast burrito I had was a bit -too much- egg for my tastes. Would have enjoyed more cheese and sausage mixed in. It also was pretty stuffed and kinda messy, however It was very tasty in parts!! I probably wont get it again, and just try something else, the iced mocha was dope👌🏻😎
They served me a breakfast burrito with mold on my scrambled eggs.How those eggs had time to develop mold and what that says about their kitchen procedure... *Shudder*Needless to say, never going back and will be heading to Guglehupf from now on.

Talk about a frustrating experience! It took 40 minutes to get our food and it wasn’t even busy. I guess they forgot our order. I had to go inside and check. Paid way too much for this frustration. Save yourself the headache! Too many good brunch places around.
Breakfast served all day! A lot of variety of sandwiches, too! A cute little place.I got here around 2pm so it wasn’t crowed. Nice decor, pleasant staff. You order at the bar then pay. They give you a number and when it’s ready will bring to your table.I got the “Big Bull Breakfast “; 2 eggs over medium, bacon, sourdough toast and added hash browns and tea.The hash browns were great, tasted homemade, not frozen. The eggs were over cooked: eggs should never have brown burnt places. The toast was dry and not buttered. The bacon was good.I will come back to try their sandwiches but please, cook the eggs at a lower temperature.
I love the Bull and Bean so much that every July 7 I start out my birthday here. And I dream about their hash browns and brisket bowl between visits. (Even though it is so popular, it’s easier to find a table here than to find a parking space in the large lot, despite the skinny parking spaces.) Some places have good food but horrible coffee. Good coffee places rarely have good food. The Bull and Bean has both. Breakfast, brunch, or lunch here is a celebration.
If you’re going to be out of a menu item, take it off your delivery menu. Period. People don’t answer their cell phones for strangers’ numbers. Don’t rely on calling them to discuss it. Just take the item off. And the sausage is probably shoe leather. One bite and I had to throw it out. The only good thing about this order was the delivery driver. Too bad the third rate Hampton Inn decided to go the FEAR route & not allow him to deliver to my room where I always double the 20% app tip with cash. No more low rate Hampton and no more B & B.
The food was amazing! As someone who has celiac and needs to eat gluten free it was so nice to have gluten free options labeled right on the menu. I got the loaded hash browns and they are the best hash browns I have ever had. Highly recommend going here if you need a gluten free option.
The food was ok, quite overpriced. The salmon Bennie was delicious, but the peach french toast had no flavor whatsoever. Coffee was ok. Good outside seating.

I been coming here for over 2 years now. Love the food and I can’t never complain about it. It’s always super super delicious. But every time I come the front cashier is super rude to me. I have an accent as English is my second language. I noticed that she treat others so nicely. I might stop coming here because she’s just too rude and ruins my meals with how she treats me.
The food here is delicious and the pancakes are my favorite in the area. Its simple gourmet food done well. We get it mostly for breakfast as a treat because it can be a bit pricey for a full meal for two plus a tip. I like the turkey sausage option and that I can get blueberries added to pancakes. Lots of options and weekend specials. Their crab cake salad for lunch is good as well.**5/2/21 - please keep the cinnamon roll table cakes on the menu!! These are so good!
First time here and absolutely delicious!!! Wonderful atmosphere and relaxed vibe...and the FOOD is amazing. The potato hash with brisket bowl and the croissant with salmon were outstanding. Every ingredient was perfectly perfect in both dishes. This is the BEST breakfast we have found yet in Durham. We will be back soon and often to try everything else.
Bull and Bean has some amazing breakfast options. Get there early and relax with some of their unique coffee options.
Echoing what other customers have said. Service has been spotty at best since COVID. We waited 30 minutes for two coffees when there were a total of 3 tables and two mobile orders during that time. Food is still excellent, hoping the service recovers once they are back open inside.
Honestly, my experience here was pretty infuriating. I ordered a salad and a BLT online. When I got to the restaurant 30 minutes later to pick up my food (per the instructions), two people ahead of me in line were able to order, pay, AND received their food before I was able to pick up my order. It was almost 10 minutes before the host asked me if I was there to pick up food (now 10 minutes past the pickup time), and another 7 minutes before they brought the food out, even though at this point there were no other customers. When I got home, I found the food cold and soggy, and they gave me LESS THAN HALF of a container of salad dressing, so I basically ate a dry, wilted salad with no dressing and my mom had a soggy BLT. I wish I had asked for my money back.
First off, the food is quite good. The pancakes and waffles particularly. However, there were problems during my visit. There was no clean silverware to use and I was not given a cup for my fountain drink during the ordering process. Further, while I didn’t think it bad, but the others in my party didn’t like the taste of the water. There is a decent chance that some of these problems are due to how busy they were, however.
We had made plans to try this today for brunch. We ended up standing outside for more than 20 minutes. The staff that were going in and out did not bother to tell us where to order or how the long the wait would be. I had to go inside to find out what was going on. Lack of communication and service time.

Cute place to eat and hang out. We went for brunch and they had a very wide variety of menu items. I got the butternut squash and goat cheese toast which I was worried was going to be puny but was actually very sizeable and filling on deliciously thick bread. I got an iced vanilla latte which was a little too sweet for me. The service was very fast and friendly. Great spot.
I used to love this place, and although I really enjoy the food their COVID ordering system is a total cluster. It is extremely disorganized and the wait time for food is ridiculous for a breakfast place. I have tried ordering online, in person, and by phone and every time was a total cluster. It’s now common to see angry customers there standing around in the parking lot. They need to get it together.

If you dont know how to cook vegan, you should not do Vegan! Ordered the vegan sandwich and what I got was mush. The grilled tofu was a slab (I mean the whole square) of tofu warmed on something. God knows what because it was not grilled. The liquid had not been pressed out so it was nothing but a mush sandwich because they did not press the tofu. The pickled onion was nothing more that sliced red onion, no flavor whatsoever. This by far was one of the worse meals Ive had in a long time. I had to choose one star for the review to post, but actually would have given zero if possible.
Price 2/5. For $14 you can get a bowl of bland grits, 5 leaves of spinach mixed in, two eggs mixed in, meat of your choice mixed in (couple strings of tasteless pulled pork in my case), half an avocado, couple of mushrooms and green onion slivers for garnish. No coffee, drink or side. Thats it. Then they want a tip even though youre expected to bus your own tables. So 20% tip youre looking at $2.80. Enjoy your $16.80 breakfast not including taxes or drink. Hey, maybe you can get one of their cough-syrup-cup-sized free waters. Cant guarantee youll be full thoughQuality 2/5. The scrambled eggs were so dry they were like chewing rubber. No taste. No butter had even been added, to fluff them up. What kinda 1-star chef does this place have? The pulled pork tasted like boiled pig meat, ripped off the bone without seasoning and with all flavor having floated away in the water - leaving tasteless chunks of meat thrown in a bowl of boring slop.Service 3/5. Where was it? Only one kinda coffee served. Outta luck if you wanted decaf. What gets me is they wanted a tip. No one refilled my coffee. No one brought me utensils. When we were done eating we pushed the empty plates to the side of the table away from us to signal they could be taken. However nobody cared to take them. Im watching other people bussing their own tables and realize Im the moron. Apparently I should have been putting my own dishes away too.Cleanliness 3/5. The only gripe I have here, is the community free-for-all where hundreds of people shove their filthy hands like animals into one container holding the utensils spreading who knows what kinda germs and bacteria on the spoon youll be shoveling into your mouth.
Excellent restaurant and our fav for early takeout during Covid era. They always have interesting dishes that are not basic and traditional. Ingredients are always fresh as well as sauces. Online ordering is easy and convenient and menu has evolving dishes.
Take and bake dinners are a deal. It is on my way home and it is easy with curbside service.
This place is definitely worth visiting I felt like I had did myself and Injustice by living in Durham all these years and not coming here till now. They have almost everything I could want in a market slash restaurant. I didnt get a chance to eat because my daughter and I just stopped in to get a menu but while I was there the young ladies offered to make me a custom coffee because I was only used to Starbucks I had no clue how I liked my coffee. Because I didnt know how it was made the young ladys dove right in and helped me figure it out. I have to say it blew Starbucks away. While we were here I noticed they are famous for their loaded hash browns and shrimp and grits probably way more, thats just two of my favorite things that I noticed. Either way we will be back soon and I will edit this review as we visit.

This place is nice if you enjoy bland food. I ordered the Grits Bowl and it displayed a wonderful presentation, however, it was tasteless. It tasted like everything was cooked separately and place on top of the grits. Grits were cheesy but too loose/watery and no flavoring. I chose Shrimp as my chose of meat and the Shrimp were sautéed with no seasoning or anything to give it flavor. I travel to different cities and states just to eat, so I think I can give good feedback. In my opinion, work on seasoning your food more. I gave this place two stars just because of the presentation.

Bull and Bean is a cozy brunch spot that serves delicious food. There are local NC goods that are available for purchase aside from their menu. The Benedict breakfast selection is varied and absolutely a must try.Although its not a budget or cheap brunch place, you get your moneys worth in quality and quantity. Beware the limited seating if you are trying to dine in.

Disappointing that they are not offering dine in service. No notes on their website letting anyone know. My wife and I drove out to have brunch and were met with a line of people waiting on the sidewalk for pick up. Will not be dining here again until normal operation is restored.
So I imagine this place could be pretty good but I ordered a meat egg and cheese sandwich on Rye and got possibly the smallest sliver of sausage Ive ever had on a sandwich. Then I bit into a big chunk of paper in my sandwich. I ordered over easy eggs on my sandwich and I got over hard. Just awful.
Cute place, good brunch. Portion size was good...big, but not too huge to finish. Local foods on the menu and available for sale. Also, meals available for take out. My one complaint was that the whipped cream was a bit too sweet.
Good food. A hipster feel to it. Cant complain about much. Food was a little cold. But all in all pretty good.
It was not busy when I arrived, cashier was rude. they forgot about my order so I had to ask after 30 minutes of waiting and other people that ordered after me had already gotten their food. waitress didn’t apologize, just took my food and said okay. i got my food and it had meat after i specifically asked no meat. again, did not apologize. took a total 50 minutes for me to finally get my correct dish.

The food was good, the location is great, and so is the atmosphere and food choices. They offer a variety of food, for gluten free, vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores, so thats always a plus. I think that they could figure out a better system to get your food to you during their busy weekend brunch times. It was kind of hard to secure a table if you had more than two people in your party, then you have to go up and order food. They do give you a number so the staff can bring your food to you, but with it being so busy, the lady bringing our food out past by our table a few times trying to find us, until one of us asked her if she was looking for our number. Other than that, as I mentioned, the food was enjoyable and so was the atmosphere.
One of my favorite breakfast and brunch spots in Durham. Low key atmosphere, good food. Some consistency problems in the past, but usually solid. Good coffee. I recommend the breakfast burrito or pancakes.
Really good place. I dont mess around. There are places you go one time and know it will be great each time. I didnt have any issues i like the vibe of the establishment. People surely respect you there and that matters to me. Love em.
Bull & Bean is fantastic! This was my first time using them and I couldnt be happier with the service and food. The delivery women arrived on time, setting up everything quickly and with little direction. The food was really good. Im not normally a fresh orange juice kind of gal, but it was amazing!I also need to mention catering staff realized I made a mistake in my order - I missed where continental breakfast includes coffee so Sloane with EZCater customer support called ask if I really needed 7 boxes of coffee. I didnt. I bring this up because they easily could have just gone with it for the sake of making more money. It was a very pleasant surprise.Overall, I am clearly happy with Bull & Bean. I will definitely make sure to order from them again in the future. Thanks!

I had the pulled pork loaded hashbrowns. Tasted good but really salty, didnt want to finish the whole thing. Coffee was nice quality. You have to order at the register, get your own drinks, condiments, silverware AND buss your table. I was surprised there wasnt a bleach bucket with towels so we could wipe down our tables too. I can imagine when the place is busy, that there are lines for everything you need. I went during a slow time, thank goodness.
This place is neat and cozy. It has a good variety of food from coffee shop fare to lunch food. I dont drink coffee, so I cant speak to the quality of the brew, but the food was good, service was friendly and prompt.

We love finding local places in Durham that support other local businesses as well as have quality food. I was really excited to order grits and I decided to get them with pulled pork and have 2 eggs over easy. The food exceeded my expectations! Every part of my meal was so fresh! We also ordered a side of sausage which was also amazing. Two of the managers are wonderful, Juliana and Elizabeth, and they really want to make sure you feel at home and are happy with your food and service! I wish I would have got a photo of the eggs on top but it still looks (and tasted) delicious!

Soooo sad!! I’ve come here regularly the past year to order to Meg’s Manhattan Eggs. To me it was the perfect breakfast. They must have new staff, because today I ordered it and it was AWFUL. Eggs were dried out, my croissant was literally flat like it was smashed under something, and it didn’t come with a couple slices of fresh fruit, as it usually does. I politely told this to the girl behind the counter, but she was like 14... and just shrugged. I used to tell everyone about this place, but I don’t think I’ll be coming back.
Really good lunch spot. Great salads with fresh ingredients. Its very convenient to my work and a nice treat for lunch!I was there for a late lunch today and they had a maintenance man spraying something along the floor. I think management should request this done after hours. It was a little unappetizing to see it done while eating! Im not sure what was being sprayed, but it made me worry that there was the risk of chemicals and food mixing.
Bland food, bus your own table, water cups are incredibly tiny, serving sizes small for the price ( i left and got food elsewhere after eating). Customer service was decent when I got a well-done steak when we ordered a rare and they refunded the meal and offered another meat (since they were out of the steak)

Just ordered from Bull and Bean because I didnt have breakfast this morning. They called to let me know one of the items was not available and provided a substitute (GF Peanut butter cookie). I also ordered the avocado toast, with a side of bacon. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! The bread was amazing, especially being lactose intolerant its hard to find bread without milk. Also, they were pretty generous with the amount of avocado. My favorite part though (and what made me immediately write a review) was this GF Peanut Butter cookie. It melts in your mouth, and tastes amazing without the guilt. Will definitely be back to try more, because the food was amazing. Thank you !!!
Really solid breakfast, sandwich and salad place that has some great food. There are also take out options from the coolers with both prepared food, drinks and desserts. Order at the counter where they also detail the specials, take the marker for your order to a seat of your choice and they bring your order when it is ready. Cozy seating indoors and outdoors and at the counter as well. Popular for weekend breakfast and lunch so there is usually a wait during these times. Parking can be tricky when the strip mall is busy. Good local place to eat and meet up with friends.

Like to support local business, this was disappointing. My sandwich was very fresh, nice bread BUT not much of it. For a $10 sandwich, I had to take apart to find the Brie. No Value here!☹️I won’t be back!
Loved their seven layer cookie . boyfriend wishes he got a 16oz. mango pineapple smooth. He just got the 12 oz one.
Bull Street Gourmet is a upscale cafe offering a pleasant indoor area with tables and a bar as well as outdoor seating. My experience is weekday lunches where I normally get a salad or soup. The food has always been good and prepared to a high standard. They also offer gourmet grocery items and prepared meals.
This place is always my favorite choice for breakfast, I am always pleased as the quality is consistent. I am here almost 1 time a week and i love it!
Quaint little cafe, serving local - elevated comfort food. Good coffee and other drinks available as well. Brunch on sat & sun from 8am to 3pm too!

The small space packs a huge punch for wine geeks! Great regional representation, and the one place in the Charleston area we have found adequate representation from the Loire Valley, Germany, and Oregon. Prices are fair, and, being so well curated, if you grab a random bottle you can be sure itll be interesting!The rest of the market is equally well curated, with all sorts of interesting food and beverage choices. The food is delicious (recommend the Croque or the duck hash).It is a convenient place to pop in for a small meal or snack, and do some beer/wine shopping while youre at it. You wont leave disappointed (or empty handed).
