I highly recommend Upchurch Optical in Sutton Station. My mother was struggling with her prescription and Shawn Bradford helped her determine her needs among trifocals, bifocals, and reading glasses. He was very patient with us and my mother is seeing much better. Two thumbs up!

I had a wonderful experience getting photophobia lenses made at this location. The owner Mike has dealt with the condition himself for decades and went above and beyond to get me help as soon as possible. The glasses he made for me helped tremendously to keep up with my job at the computer and my significant other appreciates not having to live in the dark. I’m still turning off lights but I’ve been told it is now just an annoying amount, not a dangerous amount.The style selection is a unique blend of known name brands and small boutique lines. The first pair I bought 100% for comfort. I went back Saturday to find a second pair for giving presentations at work and quite honestly I’ve never found more styles that made me feel pretty.This is where our family gets glasses now.
Excellent customer service; when I arrived I couldnt see (literally) I had all types of questions none went unanswered the two gentleman went to the extra mile ;In only a few minutes I left with new glasses I can see
I bought two pairs of frames/glasses with 2 different prescription strengths at their Sutton Station place, then went back to the Roxboro Road location (because it is closer to where I live) for followup help 2 months later. They provided new lenses for both pairs because I wanted to swap which Rx was in which pair -- and they did not charge me. Service each time was amazingly fast, warm, gracious, thoughtful, and covid-careful. Other customers there at the same time said they had also consistently gotten terrific, thoughtful service. I shopped 3 other shops but bought here and am so glad I did. I also LOVE the frames - great selection.
Customer service is the best I have encountered in years. Everyone was nice and professional and went to great lengths to ensure a great experience. I will purchase my next glasses here. I only gave 5 stars because there are not s6 stars to give.

My mother-in-law lost her backup pair of 👓 and with and out of town prescription Upchurch Optical Center was able to get her seen with no appointment even though the were already swamped with customers with appointments. They were able to give her a loaner pair of 👓 on the same day until her new ones come back.The customer service was impeccably impressive...very friendly and caring of the needs of their customers!!Thank You so much Upchurch Optical Center!!
Amazing service and great selection. Shawn looked at the glasses I had pulled to try, looked at my face, then came back with a pair I would not have picked on my own but were perfect and I absolutely love. And then a few days later...I broke them. :( Upchurch replaced for free within a week! Love this place!
This optical center is fantastic. The staff by far gives the best customer service . I went in to look at glasses, and in a months time, I purchased 3 pair. The selection of glasses are everything you are looking for and more, and in every price range. I will never go anywhere else. I am overly pleased and satisfied.
I had been thinking about Upchurch for a while. I finally went to the Sutton Station office on Monday May 7, 2018. to get lenses replaced in my own frames. Mary Jane was extremely helpful. I was astonished by the array of wonderful frames at very reasonable prices, so I decided to give myself a present of new frames. The price quoted was much less than I have paid elsewhere, and here is the frosting on the cake -- I just got a call (Wed May 9) that the glasses are ready. Two days? Unbelievable. I am writing this review before I even pick them up because I know that they will be fine and if not, they will be made fine. I totally recommend Upchurch to anyone who wears glasses, loves unique frames, wants great customer service, and appreciates reasonable pricing. A gem.
The Best!!I have been coming to Upchurch since relocating to NC over 8 years ago. I have received amazing customer service, the most awesome frames, and even though my insurance has recently changed to Eye Med ( yuk) I am willing to pay out of pocket for the experiences and fantastic glasses I have received here. One of the best experiences at an Optical Center that Ive ever had! The staff was warm and inviting. They treated me like I was a friend who had been going there for years! I love how from my Doctor to the glasses sales staff they listened to my concerns, explained all my options, and helped me to come to the best solution that was perfect for me. No pushy sales tactics here. I felt like they wanted what was best for me and not the store or sales numbers. I would recommend this place hands down to anyone who needs new glasses or to get a check up.
We decided to go to Upchruch based on the great reviews it has here on Google. I have to say, we were not disappointed. Shawn gave us some of the best customer service I have ever seen. We were greeted as soon as we came through the door. He spent extra time making sure I was happy with my choice and price. And then he had my glasses ready an hour later. I will definitely be back! This place is one in a million.
I need bent glasses fixed if possible. Fixed them, asked if I had time for the nose pads to be replaced, and then did so. So my glasses were returned to me better that ever. What a wonderful place. No charge--you have got to give these folks your business, people. The selection was pretty amazing too, although it looks like the old glasses have another lease on life.

I LOVE Upchurch Optics. Yesterday I picked up my third pair from them and I have loved my glasses and the customer service every time! I cant imagine going anywhere else. The selection is great and I always receive plenty of compliments when I wear my glasses!

I must say this is one of the best optical shop in town! they replaced my glasses when the lab messed up my prescription...SO customer focused and so caring for the inconveniences of their customers. Thanks John.
I accidentally stepped on my prized pair of bifocals yesterday and bent them badly, and Upchurch Optical was the only place open on Saturday. I brought them in and the friendly staff fixed them in five minutes at no charge. I cant even tell they were ever bent. Thank you!!!!
Outstanding frames and service, inconvenient hours. One of the best collections of frames in the Triangle with friendly, expert-quality help for every aspect of purchasing appropriate frames and lenses. You need to stop here before you drop $500 on a pair of glasses somewhere else.Unfortunately, the hours here, as with many small businesses in the region are inconvenient and make little sense in the modern marketplace. Their smaller store, tucked away in sparsely-populated north Durham is, oddly, open until 7 PM. Their store amidst the commercial hub of The Streets of Southpoint is only open from 9 AM to 6 PM every day, with no days where they stay open late to accommodate people who are forced to work from 9 to 5. Just as vexing is the fact they close at 2 PM on Saturday and are closed all day on Sunday. Unless you are independently wealthy or work from home, youll be taking time off from work to appreciate their fine selection and service. I have recommended Upchurch many times to people who have ultimately purchased their frames elsewhere because they could not get to Upchurch during its hours of operation. To be fair, this irrational pattern is more the rule than the exception in this area where merchants continue to insist upon being open only when their customers are working, rather than when their customers are available.Response to Owner: Thank you for your prompt response. I hope you understand I appreciate most of what you have done with your business and I continue to recommend it. However, I dont understand what life balance and quality of life for employees has to do with keeping hours that will require your customers to take time off from work to benefit from your otherwise excellent business.Im a strong believer in workers rights and the importance of a work-life balance that favors the life part of that equation. I also believe in accommodating the reasonable needs of the working consumers who would rather not be forced to use their sick time and vacation time at the Optometrist and shopping for glasses. Im not advocating an increase in anyones hours at your shops (the northernmost of which is inconvenient for most Triangle shoppers) and I dont understand how it is unreasonable to ask workers to do one late shift per week in instead of an earlier one. I have long been tasked with scheduling time for shift work in research and generally find many--if not most--to be eager to work evening shifts. 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM seems to be the most consumer-rich time slot in your location by Southpoint Mall, a time during which most modern consumers are available to shop.
I walked in off the street to see if they could fix a broken pair of glasses. The staff was exceptionally helpful and was able to find a matching pair of temples to replace the broken ones I had. To top it off, they didnt even charge me for it! Please give these folks your business. They are awesome!
As usual, when I had a recent urgent need, Matt Libby came through in a pinch when nobody else ever could have. I have done business with him for years and would never go elsewhere. First and only stop you will ever require for all things eye wear.
I brought in two cheap pairs of sunglasses, and they were able to replace the cheap lenses with great quality, polarized lenses in only 45 minutes! It was a wonderful experience - Id highly recommend them!
I dont like writing reviews and I rarely do them. But I felt compelled to write this one after todays visit to Upchurch Optical. First, I have a very complicated case - recent cataract surgery right eye, recent strabismus (eye muscle) surgery, left eye, PRK right eye in 2018, left eye is far-sighted and right eye is near-sighted - and now, the right eye is still recovering from the cataract surgery and has posterior capsular haze. So my computer glasses were no longer functional and I start back to work Monday - today is Friday! Dr. Ogawa was very helpful and spent the extra time with me to carefully evaluate my needs and determine the optimal solution - which turned out to be single vision lenses and a very meticulously refined prescription. Then the lenses were made for some old frames that I brought in - and it only took about 40 minutes! All my expectations were vastly exceeded by the staff at Upchurch Optical and I would highly recommend them to anyone needing special care or just a normal situation.
Just leaving this place in under 30 mins where both of my glasses were refitted for crystal clear lens by my personal optical angel, Nicole. Great service!!!
