Update at end.Called during business hours, about a week ago. They didnt answer the phone, I got an answering machine/voicemail. A store closer to our home answered.Update:Thank you for your reply Bull City! I may come by within the next month or two. Thank you again.
I ordered a lower from aero precision and decided to try out bull City armory as the transfer destination and my experience was as solid as you could hope. They have a cool shop with all the essentials and good guys on staff who were helpful and did their best to get me in and out of their store in less than 30 minutes. If you already have information on file with them, I imagine its much quicker. No complaints at all and will be back for more transfers and to buy in store.
I bought a used 1911 from these guys. It had a small problem that I could not fix. So, I brought it back to see if their gunsmith could perhaps fix it. He took a look an fixed it. When I asked him how much, he refused saying I sold it to you. Good job guys!!!
They have always been good to me. Ive bought guns, ammo, and supplies. Other times, Ive not spent a dime, just talked guns. I would recommend them to other if they were looking for a fair deal.
Was in town today stopped to grab some ammo. Guys had a few calibers I needed. Very friendly service. Being in the business myself i appreciate good service.
They had a good selection and Ill definitely be back!
Super friendly and real easy to do business with.
Fair prices great place to do business highly recommend
Called about 9mm rounds, and they did not have any. I know it is not their fault. Hopefully they get some soon.
Great place for people looking to purchase their first firearm. Very helpful and patient. Would recommend to anyone!
Nice selection! Not pushy. I know my guns and took my nephew there to practice before hunting up in VA and they made us both feel very welcome and made it easier for him to relax around guns and learn how to manage them safely.
I went to this shop to purchase an AR-15 and was told I couldn’t purchase because I didn’t look comfortable holding the gun and several people had come in to purchase the gun . Idk what I had to do with whatever the guy was referring to but The guy at the shop stereotyped me and denied of my second amendment right . I feel like he was gender biased because I’m a woman . If your a woman don’t go here .
What a wild and uneven experience I had here! I came in around 4:30 on Friday. Asked to see some guns. Decided to buy one. The staff were helpful and courteous and everything was going fine until they finished the paperwork and rang me up. Somehow the serial number of the gun I was purchasing got swapped with the serial number of another, similar gun. And they discovered the error after I’d already paid. This caused an insane cascade of events involving three employees, two calls to the owner, and one hour of me standing around trying to keep my cool. The two counter guys were great: communicative, friendly, apologetic. The more senior guy, Mike, is definitely an old-school, grumpy, back-room gun guy and legit could not be bothered to be pleasant about anything. Like, hey, this is not how I wanted my Friday evening to go either, pal! They finally sorted their sh*t, I paid the difference between the two guns, and I was on my way. Not sure if I’ll be back or not.
Loved it, very friendly and quite informative, great guns
Walked there today looking for some info about AR-15s. The staff was helpful and understanding about my questions. Even tho I did not walked out with the rifle the staff didn’t made me feel stupid about any of my questions they took time to walk me through the pros and cons of that type of rifles as well as other types of guns I was looking at.I will recommend this place to anyone whose looking to make a purchase.
Horrible service don’t shop here.
I got my last 3 firearms from these folks. Two from purchase and 1 from xfer. They have always been very helpful and willing to assist in any way. I went on last week and again on today. Due to my work schedule, my hours nearly align with the shop hours so its difficult to get there during the week but today I had a few minutes. Well I went in near a quarter to 6 which is closing time. Well the shop owner let me know that they try not to begin paperwork after 5:30. I totally understood as i hate getting new issues just before walking out of my office as well. But this was told to me in a pleasant manner and it didnt stop him from addressing all my questions and concerns for a soon upcoming purchase. He showed me a few different items, discussed options for repairing a firearm that I had him look at to consider for a possible trade. Ive now had dealings with both father and son and both have been great sources of information and never been in haste to run me off whether I was purchasing or not. I will definitely be going back for my next one and look forward to speaking with them again...
Usually great service everyone I go here..... my go to store for ammo
Very rushy during a time like this especially when people are trying to purchase the first piece of artillery in there collection.Showed signs of racism on and off instead of fairly helping everybody the sameWouldn’t recommend anyone to go hereFirst time I went I brung somebody here they were unprofessional losing papers & this was in JanuaryUsually give people 3 triesBut that racism act didn’t sit too well with me
Walked into this establishment for the very first time the other day and was blown away by the friendliness and helpfulness of the people here. I was having a small problem with my handgun (which I did not purchase here because it was bought before this gun shop was around) after dropping it. They fixed it and did not charge me anything! They also gave me some great advice on guns, gun laws and other things gun related. I will be buying my next firearm from here. It was so nice to meet such good people. Thank you so much,Bull City Armory!
I was here earlier today to get a feel on what I wanted to try at the range. Mike was great and despite my inexperience was incredibly helpful and friendly. If you wanted to be respected and get great service, BCA is amazing.Thank you, BCA! I look forward to my future purchases from you!
Extremely helpful and friendly! Will definitely be telling family and friends of the experience I had. Great prices and great staff.
Very unprofessional and rude. Covid 19 is scary I know but you dont have to be rude and out the way to a PAYING CUSTOMER. 👎 👎 -5 stars..
What do I need to purchase a long gun im a non resident?
I originally went into the shop in order to have a rifle that I was purchasing during an online sale sent to the shop so that I could make use of their FFL. I hadnt placed the order yet and went in to fill out the FFL paperwork and pay their small fee. However, once I saw the price of the same rifle there in the shop and did a little math, I realized that the difference was so negligible (about $3) that it would be best to simply make the purchase there that day. The gentleman that helped me was attentive and got me through the process quickly. He never questioned any of my decisions nor did he try and sell me on the idea of buying in the store rather than online. The process was quick and smooth, and I will be going back again for any of my firearm needs. Thanks!
Great place for firearms or ammo. Folks are always friendly. Always enjoy talking to Chuck.
Definitively the best gunsmith I have ever been to. Any time I have brought something to Bob, he has gotten the work done immediately (literally within 10 minutes) and explained the work to me simply. He is a humble, kind, and honest-working man, and has been more than generous with what he has charged me. Before we found Bull City Armory, we went to another gunsmith at a large indoor range in the triangle and the gunsmith was never there, not responsive, and we have yet to hear from him on a firearm we gave him months ago. Dont let the location and smaller shop fool you; if you are anywhere in the triangle or even further out, Bob at Bull City Armory is your man. I cant say much about the rest of the staff as I dont know them, but Ill say this: dont waste time messing around looking for other gunsmiths. It really takes me either a piss-poor experience or a stellar experience for me to take the time to leave a review for anything, so that should say something. Its uncommon to meet people of this sort of great character.P.S. I have no affiliation with the shop.
I will never shop here again! I was helping a friend buy a gun to keep in her home since she lives alone and we drove 40 min to this place. The woman working there must have thought she was buying the gun illegally for me because she kept saying whatever she buys i have to put my name on the form as well. We all know this is B.S. Only one name can go on the form. Then she told us whatever i ask to see she needs to see my drivers license. I then showed her my concealed license and proceeded to walk out. She tried to apologize and offer me a few 50 cent targets for free. Needless to say we left and went somewhere else. I had brought a gun from them before and since been taking my business elsewhere. I have brought 13 guns since that day so its their lost.
Very honest people and good service. I was positive that I had counted out the correct amount for a rare find I bought but when the man counted what I had given him he handed me back $100 that I had over payed.I thought that he had made a mistake until a third man recounted. That was my first visit to the store.
These employees are extremely likable and good-natured folks. Highly knowledgable about all firearms and love to help everyone who walks into the store. They care about their customers and store prices reflect this. Trust and buy with confidence!!
Ran in really fast today to grab some ammo for my range trip for this afternoon. The two guys running the shop were super friendly and social as soon as I walked in.I was looking for two different kinds of ammo and they had both in stock, though one was a little more expensive than usual (but they told me this ahead of time). I also ended up grabbing another magazine which wasnt too bad on price. When they rung me up, the expensive ammo rang up about $4-$5 more than what they had thought, but they honored the original price quote from earlier and gave me the discount. That was incredibly nice of them to do.Didnt even know this place existed so close to where I live. If Im in the market for anything new in the future, Ill be willing to run by and chat with these guys to see what they have available.
Friendly staff. Very knowledgeable. My new firearms store. Have know purchased 3 guns from them with awesome serviceCompetitive prices with the big box stores and way better service.
Had an bad experience here. Left my job early to go purchase the Mini 30 arrived there at 535 pm. Clerk told me that they do not sell guns after 530pm. This is bad business and horrible customer service. Will never shop here again. Bass pro shop was happy to take my money
Amazing staff and service! They have a huge selection of firearms, ammunition and accessories at great prices!!! I will definitely be recommending Durham Gunsmithing to anyone looking for firearms!!
I have been a customer of this place for years. I can highly recommend this particular merchant unequivocally without any hesitation and with full confidence that if youre looking to be treated fairly as a consumer, whether you are an arms expert or a shiny new novice whos only thought about firearms, this is a business that is worthy for those that look to spend their hard earned money wisely or yearn for some good old fashioned face-to-face subject knowledge on making the best purchase for your needs. Before you who are reading this start thinking I am either paid to write to this or a close buddy of Chuck (owner) or Mike (his dad) or Bob (gunsmith), you would be totally incorrect in your thought process. I am one of those types of customers that spend more time than a usual customer does (or should) looking over products and such and Ive observed many a transaction within this establishment, verbally & financially. Ive never done the same with the other local gun merchant businesses in the area, not because of any thoughts of their service being inferior or prices not agreeable but its pretty much habit and location for me. Out of all the time Ive spent at Durham Gunsmithing, Ive never heard any negative comments about any of the other gun stores and owners either and that to me defines character. The type that stands on its own without having to tear down the reputations of the other similar businesses or their owners. The other guys that work there which I dont get to see much are Marvin & Mike. (different hours than I am free...). They are great to talk to just the same and just as honorable to deal with. Check em out, chat a bit, you wont be sorry.
Got some hard to find 7.7 Japanese ammo had a good day at the range nice folks
Friendly staff. Very knowledgable. Will try to get you the item you want if it is out of stock. They remember me when I walk in and what my gun interest are.Highly recommended.
Best gun store I’ve ever visited, prices beat out big box stores and online most times. Great on trades as well.
Great staff, excellent service. Mike and Chuck and very knowledgebale and great to take to. If you are looking to buy, sell, or trade, this is the place to go to. I highly recommend this business.
After buying from Chuck for several years I decided to move on. It was obvious he did not care about keeping me as one of his best customers. After taking 2 guns and accessories from me on trade and putting the stuff behind the counter, he handed the sale off to another employee, and took off out the door. The other employee then had to call him about the sale and this is where the deal went south. He did not want to come back and straighten it out, changed what he had taken from me and now didnt want part of it, and wanted another $140 for taxes and ect. on top of the trade. Felt like a money tree being shaken down. The next day, went back in and after telling his father about it, he just smiled and said Oh well They really told me how much they appreciated my business. I will never buy from, or recommend them again! They need to learn the business law of 250!
Very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. And great pricing and selection! Convenient location, too.
Have used them many times in the past. Both repairs and purchases. Owner is knowledgeable and helpful. Will continue to do business here. Always my first choice.
It aint pretty but sure does work. Got my barrel swapped from my A2 receiver to a flatop in 20mins for 65 bucks so happy with the customer service an the pricing great store has become my go to since all the other gun stores seem to have become to big for their britches an forgot how to treat a customer an get repeat business I live in Raleigh but will gladly come back for my shooting needs
The guys there were friendly and very knowledgeable I actually learned a thing or 2 and I felt like they enjoyed the conversation as much as I did Dont judge them until you meet them and talk to them they are some great people so if you are looking a gun product or accessories or a gun to add to the collection go see um you want regret itSincerely BIG JEFF C.
They have excellent customer and awesome selection
Great prices, If they dont have it in stock they will order it. Great place to do business.
Salute to Bull City Armory bought my firearm and once everything cleared, was in and out in no time 💪🏾
Great, friendly staff. Definitely recommend this place.
Been going here since i was an idiot highschool kid and looking back on it they sure were extreamly friendly. That is saying a lot when pretty much every gun store is run be people who are jerks.
They have a wider variety of products in addition to guns and Gunsmithing services than your average gun shop. They carry metal detectors and gold mining tools. Its a multifaceted business; actually like three in one locationMost importantly for me on a regular basis, they carry my favorite ammunition CORrBON which you cant find at your average gun shop.
Best place to purchase your firearms they got the greatest customer serviceI love this place.
Great prices and staff. Knowledgeable gun staff. Easily the best in Durham.
I sent them a email asking for help, apparently the fastest option takes more than 5 days
Super selection got a nice 9mm at great price
They are very knowledgeable about guns and they are very patient dealing with new old customers
Good selection but high price.
Wide variety of guns, rifles and accessories. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
I waited for a year to get my suppressor tax stamp (since Dec. 2013). It turned out that this dealer stated that he failed to receive a request for additional information from ATF. I called many times and was told that it take 12 months. It took me two calls to find out what the hold up actually was. Plus, had the dealer responded to the July 2014 request; I would have had the suppressor in Sept. of 2014. Since the July request had not been met;I would have had only a week to get another form signed off by my sheriff and depend on this same dealer to mail it to ATF on time.Over the years I have purchased about 18 firearms from this dealer. I no longer have the trust to purchase from this dealer again. I also could not in good faith recommend this dealer to my friends.
Knowledgeable and courteous staff, I will certainly recommend and return for purchases/service.
Great collection off rifles, GlocksAnd the crew are helpful
Mike is a great guy to work with. Very knowledgeable.
Awesome service, excellent staff, easy to talk to, great selection!
After reading the positive reviews here, I brought my Glock 30 to them when the trigger was having issues after a cleaning and reassembly. The trigger bar was sitting crooked and making the trigger pull very heavy. Their armorer took it apart, put it back together, and told me it just needs to be broken in. He wouldnt believe me when I told him that it had felt very different up until a sudden change after the last cleaning, and I pointed out where the trigger bar was misaligned and even compared it to another Glock they had there to show that it was not normal. He wouldnt believe me, insisted nothing was wrong, and that Glocks just arent precision tools. Theyre all different. He simply refused to believe that it had not been that way before, or that the misalignment was a problem. He kept saying it was normal factory variation, and the clearly visible 15 degree misalignment would just smooth out as I shot it more. They charged me $50 to get my gun back after holding it for less than an hour and calling my complaint a non-issue. When I got the gun home and looked again myself, it became apparent that the trigger spring had gotten twisted and unseated from the notch under where it attaches to the trigger bar that was supposed to keep it straight. I popped it back in and the trigger bar realigned right back where it belonged and the trigger pull went back down to its normal weight. This took me about 2 minutes. When I called them to let them know that they had missed the problem, their response was to again refuse to believe me, talk down to me like I was either stupid or lying, and hang up on me mid-sentence. In summary, they missed a simple problem, charged me $50 for nothing, and got angry with me when I suggested that I was unsatisfied with my experience. Im glad I was able to find and fix the problem myself, but I wont be doing business with them again and would not recommend them to others.
Great prices, welcoming staff, and quality gunsmithing. I will return here for my next purchase.
I called to see if they 40 cal ammo. He said yes. Then I was told he didn’t sell ammo to out of state residents. Nope. Never again.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff
Great customer service!
