The food was delightful. I got the general tso lunch box and a spicy tuna roll, absolutely delicious. My boyfriend got the beef Pad Thai, he was extremely happy.
Fantastic food for a fantastic price! Would definitely return here if I lived in the area! Amazing atmosphere and swift service. All the dishes I ordered were delicious.
Cant say enough good stuff about this restaurant. We stopped here randomly on our way out of town and Im so happy we did. The service was excellent, food even more so. The hibachi portion was great for its price point, sushi was fresh, and everything came out hot and fast. Cant wait to go back!Edited on Sept 10 -- weve been back four times since my review and each time has been phenomenal. I have been considerably more impressed each visit. You guys have it figured out.
This is the best hibachi around. We have always had a great experiance here. Dinner and a show, the hibachi men are always wonderfully entertaining. Its always more fun to go as a group. My children love coming here, very family friendly. If you need a dish to choose, I highly recommend the filet mignon so tender and delicious.
I cant stop ordering the spicy trio, so good.
We came as a party of 9 on a Wed evening(430) for a birthday party(adult) with 3 kids under 8. We reserved a Hibachi Table and it was a great experience overall. The included photos should give an idea of layout. I was left of the chef and my husband was to my right. Otherwise we were all in full view of the chefs mad skills. 2 Hibachi grills, with chefs back to back, per seating arrangement and could seat 16-18 per arrangement total(per 2 grills). They offer a large number of Hibachi tables! I will say that the quite necessary hood vents over each grill are loud so you have to lean into each other to speak normally or raise your voice to speak across the table or to the chef. My husband and I split a combination plate (steak-SO tender! And Scallops) and there was a $5 surcharge for the meal split but totally worth it. They are large servings and everyone but my husband and I are taking food home. The chef was awesome and shot Saki in my mouth and the birthday boys a few times ;) he was playful with the kids as well. Ultimately I see my husband and I bringing our son back here more than once. But if the 1st experience for a child is Hibachi You will be challenged for them to accept an alternative!
Great family restaurant, and also perfect for a date night. We always get the generals - ALWAYS, it’s our favorite. BEST HIBACHI IN PORTLAND. Large portions, just all around one of my favorite places to go in Maine. The hibachi noodles are sooooo good, drenched in garlic.🤤 Great service every time. I leave happy and always with leftovers.
I know a lot of people that like this place but I’m not a fan. The floor was sticky. A fly jet flying around my face. The food looked like it was literally thrown at the plate. The quality of the beef was poor and the stir fry was pretty much uncooked. I’ve been here before and had an okay meal but this most recent visit was pretty terrible. I won’t be back.
We went to the Bistro to have a couple drinks and dessert. Our bartender Chad was awesome! He helped us pick our dessert the Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake. He was friendly and even showed my man to twerk ... Lol not really but we loved him!
My wife and I tried this place on Tuesday. First off after we were seated. A table was seated about ten mins after us. Their drink order was taken and drinks received. And then their food order taken. We had yet to see a waitress. I had to go to the bar to order my owe drinks. After about 45 mins we were able to place our order. Sushi was good and spot on. But I have never in my life had such bland chicken fried rice. I would compare it to plan white rice with unseasoned chicken. I would not suggest this place to anyone that values customer service and cooks that know how to use seasoning.
Great bartender!! He was so funny & nice. Food amazing, it was my first time trying sushi and Im do glad I did it here!
Extremely solid and consistent food, while the mixed drinks are hit or miss. Big sushi fan!
They claim to do contactless pick up. They dont, you have to go inside to get it. Hostess its more interested in talking with her friend on the phone. She was extremely rude and condescending. Food was meh at best. Dont go here.
I dont dine here often but the food is great. This last time I took my daughter here for her birthday. She loved the sushi. I had shrimp and veggie tempura. Yum!
Absolutely wonderful!!! Get the hibachi!! Worth every penny! Steak and shrimp combo was delicious. Drinks are strong and reasonably priced. Staff is charming and efficient. Plenty of parking. Bring the whole family.
I’ve been there a couple of times and I am very satisfied with the quality of their food. Definitely going again.
Kon is a great Asian cuisine restaurant that has sushi, hibachi, and a selection of other Asian dishes. The sushi is good, fresh, and properly prepared. The other entrees I have gotten from here were okay, but the chicken was a little rubbery on two occassions. They make nice strong drink, my wife loves to get the flaming volcano bowl. They also have a decent selection of Japanese beer, of which I am a fan. My daughter loves the big Buddha statue that stands in the middle of the restaurant, in a Zen rock garden. The prices are on par for a sushi/hibatchi restaurant. The servers are friendly and are usually pretty attentive. Overall, we have had good experiences and we keep coming back.
Gorgeous atmosphere, great food, good value, fast service. Loved it!
My first experience trying sushi. I got the veggie roll. So deliciously different. I really enjoyed it with the pickled ginger and wasabi. For dessert, i had a delectable Tempura-fried Matcha cheesecake. The restaurant was beautifully decorated. Id love to go again one day.
Fantastic food, service and atmosphere. Will definitely be back next time I’m up in Maine. Menu breakdown was good, different, and had plenty of options. Wish I had gone for dinner so I could have tried more cocktails.Great great great.
Great food. But i asked the staff to give me the bill and only me....they didnt and when i jokingly said to the waitess you didnt do what i asked.....the one with the big glasses, she called me rude. I will never go back which is a shame because the waitress i had on a previous 2 visits was fricken awesome. I didnt want my parent to pay... I saved specifically for this lunch and she completely ruined and and insulted me at the same time. Not coolWe wont ever be back
Went for my sisters 21st birthday and they for got apart of my order but quickly fixed it.
Our favorite sushi place to go to. They have an amazing lunch menu. Customer service is consistent. Highly recommend!
Horrible. The red curry looked like nothing Ive ever seen. Gooey and super sweet. Disgusting. Maybe stick with the hibachi I guess......so bad. Cute place though.
Best service Ive ever had and the food was hot and just how I wanted it. best Asian restaurant in Portland
We had hibachi it was very goodOur chef was very funny enjoyed his cooking very much.We will be going back.
Food was awesome. Servers were not so much.
Great lunch, service and price. I will go again.
Took my family & friends for dinner. It was my brothers birthday. If i knew we was going to be sat at the habachi station on the far right where it looked like they was storing partitions that was closest to the windows i would not have gone. A/C worked everywhere else in the building but not our cramped corner with very littl room. As far as the chef was concerned, he was not very entertaining. I definitely did not enjoy being squirted in the eyes with saki and did not want to wear it. Horrible aim, besides the fact i was already uncomfortable with the extreme heat. My clothes was soaked with sweat and saki and i was aggravated i hardly enjoyed myself. The food wasnt bad. The waitress brought the bill and our friends noticed they added a 20% tip to all of our bills. I totally understand. A big party of 7 people it is understandable but there was no warnings on the menus or on their website to prepare us for their mandatory 20% tip. I may go back, but if it is as hot as it was i will not be staying.
Hard to give out 5s. Theyre great though, have had some questionable hibachi experiences but food has always been pretty on point, except that 1 time.
HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY STAFF. THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT.
Service was friendly and accommodating. Food was fresh and hot.
Kids wanted tepenyaki, so we went! Great food. Gluten free options for me. Nice staff.
Good prices. Better food and solid service
The food and service was great!
The food and service is always good. We have been going for many years and never a bad meal. 😁
I got sushi take out the last time I went. There was something off with the eel and cucumber. Everything else was great!! Im not saying this restaurant is bad because it isnt. This issue has only happened the one time. Definitely worth eating there!!
A very enjoyable dinner. We stopped by Sunday night about 8:10 PM (open till 10 PM on Sundays) and decided on the Hibachi table for dinner. An excellent decision. Qing (Ching) was our server, she was very pleasant, attentive and helpful with our selection. Our Chef was amazing, the show he put on was fun and his culinary skills were excellent (think Japans restaurant in EPCOT:) I ordered the steak and chicken my wife had the chicken and shrimp both excellent and the portions were very large (enough to take half of my dinner to work for lunch the next day). Each meal came with a salad with house dressing (very good) a clear broth soup (also very good) plus two shrimp (a nice addition). The staff that greeted us were also helpful and let us peruse the menu to decide which room we wanted to sit in (regular seating or Hibachi seating). This, in my opinion, is one of the best Asian Restaurants here in Maine. Having spent time in Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore I like Asian food and think I can tell the good, the bad and the adequate restuarants. This one is DEFINITELY on the very good list for staff, food and Hibachi Chefs. Our bill was 47 dollars (tax included) plus tip. Well worth it. Put this restaurant on your list if you havent discovered it yet.Update: We did dinner for four on Mothers Day and it was as amazing and fun as our last time. Had Qing as our server again (excellent and friendly) and the same chef as before (again excellent and funny too) our bill was $97.00 plus a $20.00 tip. Well worth the money. (None of us drink so thats dinner and water for our bill)2nd Update: weve been back three more times and each time we went dinner was excellent. Well be back often:)
Best hibachi Ive ever had! Decent price. Service is split 50/50. Its either the best service, of the worst depending on who you get. Normally a poor customer service experience that is not made right will prevent me from returning to an establishment, but in this case, I keep going back because it is so so sooo good!
Great service, sushi and sashimi was fresh! Nice environment.
Great food, sushi also delicious, friendly staff, great service
Outstanding food! Great environment and great location.
Just help me to find the jobI will do good my work to satisfect everyone
Had a bad experience at Kobe in South Portland, but luckily we found this place, Kon and they welcomed us with great food and amazing service. Thank you!
Great sushi great service.
Ive been to this restaurant a number of times and each one has been a very pleasant experience. The staff is very helpful and know exactly whats on the menu unlike some places Ive been too. The sushi is very good with a wide selection and the drinks are reasonably priced as well. Would highly recommend this location and when I move back to Maine I will be here on a much more regular basis.
Great hibachi dinnerFantastic place to celebrate a birthday
Excellent! We will be going back.
One of my favorite spots! The food is always delicious (the ginger dressing is out of this world!), the service is always friendly and professional and the atmosphere is always inviting. I’ve never had a bad meal here. Since Covid and the changes happening to the restaurant industry surrounding that, the staff is always safe and sanitary, the inside is perfectly social distanced and they go above and beyond to be accommodating.
We were seated within a reasonable amount of time. Drinks and apps took a little long to come. We were happy with the amount of food, but quality was sub par. Lo mein was made with thin rice noodle that was similar to angel hair. The texture was horrid. Soup had little flavor in the broth. Vegetables were undercooked. Sauces didnt present a strong flavor but were over powering additions of salt. We left over half of our food on our plates. If you are looking for good hibachi, go to Kume in Topsham or Kobe in Portland. Would not recommend.
Fairly quick service from the kitchen, the sushi is good. The broccoli beef is consistently good. The red curry was thick for my taste, and had a few medium shrimp. The bartender was cute, funny, and makes some tasty drinks. Hands down, go for the hibachi. You wont be disappointed!
The food and cocktail selections are excellent. I always enjoy the teppanyaki paired with a classic old fashioned. It gets pretty busy so its a good idea to call ahead and make a reservation. Ive never had a bad meal here. Its a twofer for me because I always enjoyed going with my parents as a young boy when it was Vallees, God I miss Vallees!
Very good service and great food at a reasonable price.
Best in town, never ever gonna let you down. They’re the best in townNever ever gonna let you down.Seriously best in town eat here.
Fantastic food (I highly recommend the filet mignon and lobster hibachi) and friendly service. Theyre very conscientious of covid safety too!
Fun atmosphere, good food and good service
Awesome food an drinks
Best Asian food in Portland. Have never had a bad meal.
The food is always good here
Fun time was had by all
The food very good and good service too.🥰👍👍
Hibachi and table service. ALWAYS awesome 👌
Friendly service. Large menu. Food was decent. A bit of a strange smell inside. Probably wont go again during covid. But large enough for parties to spread out if you are willing to done indoors.
Delicious food and very attentive and kind servers. If we ever come back to the Portland area, we will be sure to stop.
Awesome hibachi experience. The scallops were seared to perfection!
Great standard hibachi place
The food and service were fantastic, but, I can only leave 3 stars because the atmosphere was horrible, and I left feeling very stressed out instead of relaxed. It was lunch time, but the music that was playing was like the middle of the night in a nightclub. It was pornographic rap music where every other word was the F word. Were not prudes, yes we are older, but there is a place and time for everything, and that music should not have been playing during the day, or in my humble opinion, never in a place where you go for high quality Asian dining. Im sorry, if I go back again it will have to be for take out only. But if you dont mind very loud rap music with swearing, then I guess you will love it there!
Diarrhea factor of 10. Eat the food while sitting on the toilet. Great drinks. Nice fish tank
Very disappointed with pad thai order tonight. I ordered spicy. It had no flavor, no bean sprouts or a single vegetable like when served in the restaurant. I ordered chicken and there were just a few small pieces. Quote from my coworker It just looks like a pile of red noodles. Whats with the red noodles? Very blah, very disappointed.
Very busy restaurant. A good place for a large and loud gathering.
Service staff are very friendly and their sushi is delicious but the menu was too limited in comparison to Kobe.
Excellent food! Sushi was great! American Dream Roll and Sweetheart Roll! General Tso chicken! And Crispy Thai wings! All amazing!
Great food and drinks!
Great food, great experience. Thank you
Nice place, quick service. Highly recommend
Hostess was too laid back, not very welcoming. Menu was a bit confusing with 4 seperate menu cards. I had lemongrass shrimp which was so so. Not much of a lemongrass taste besides the hard pieces of lemongrass themselves. Wife had sushi that was average too. The ambiance is cool and bar is nice. Waitress helped herself to an extra dollar for the tip too (getting change back). It would have been awkward wanting 1 dollar back. We wont return. Covid is amazingly making service worse than ever Ive noticed.
I love this place!!! Hibachi is so yummy!!!
Been here twice, once a few years ago with a 21 Birthday party at the Hibachi. Loads of fun. And again a few months ago with my mother in the restaurant (who I had to explain half the menu to since she’s not too familiar with the cuisine). We had a good time. The food was good. Love the decor, my favorite color scheme.
Cocktails and hors doeuvres, perfect as always.
Good service and food. Noodles could be better and come with hibachi as most places do.
Good food and good times
Best Habachi out of all chains in Maine
