Shagbark is your typical rural lumber/hardware store. Friendly, knowledgeable people who just want to help you find what you need...and they probably have it in stock! Its so much better going here than Home Depot...these guys actually want to help!

My local hardware and pretty much everything else I might need store! Home town shopping with home town ownership and associates. Extremely pleasant and helpful. Today I went in for Preen - a weed prevention granular treatment from Miracle Grow that actually works! I went to the garden supply section of the store...could not find it. I asked the associate at the checkout area if they carried this product. She smiled and pointed at the top shelf near the store entrance. Who Knew? She certainly knew the whereabouts of stocked products. We shared a laugh about this odd location. I left a happy customer. Thank you Shagbark!

Its ALWAYS a great experience stopping at Shagbark. Knowledgeable people that are always eager to help you, and very RARELY do I NOT find what Im looking for.Freddy is always eager to help you, and theres NO hunting for a store employees like the Big Box Stores either.Its also a pleasure frequenting a true GrainStore, where you can walk on wooden floors, and smell the animal feed and supplies. Stores like these are QUICKLY disappearing from our countrys landscape.Check Shagbark out, you WONT be disappointed.

Greatest store EVER!! They usually have what youre looking for ...better than the small stores ...and FAR more knowledgeable and accessable then the big box stores ...you cant go wrong!Plus they make Hydraulic hose replacements! Ive always enjoyed visiting.

Helpful. Prices seem to be competitive with box stores. Not so many drawer knobs or other small items, plumbing. Wood is in outlying buildings so the store itself is compact but stuffed with inventory.

The owner there is really good. Shagbark is also a true value store. Theres an animal feed store as well. Its very convenient for being out in the sticks.

Always a go to when you need something to improve the home or yard. Today they had free soup, hotdogs and pictures with Santa. Made my 5 yearolds day.

Searching for solutions to several problems, (siding and deck lumber and stain, grout, etc) got great assistance and the right products. People are friendly and knowledgeable. Were lucky to live reasonably close.

The place is always stocked. Lumber and trim quality is good.No Home Cheapo trips that take over an hour of my time.If youre ever working in East Haddam, dont go to a big box store to save a buck and then spend 30 bucks in gas as well as 100 bucks of your time in the process. Just go to SwagBark (lol, its a local thing) and go ask one of their many friendly and knowledgeable (let alone, HELPFUL) staff members.Pretty darn good considering its in the boonies. When youre working on that side of the river, youre really happy that theyre open. Believe me. Everytime I take jobs on that side of the river, they save my a$$.Thumbs up all day long.
