I love Mascali. They are always very friendly and nice. I cant wait until they reopen but, at least the store is still open. I got some sauce and meatballs for future meals, and eggplant parm and baked clams oreganata for tonight. It was excellent.
Got a terrible attitude on the phone while trying to order a take out order. All I did was try to order an item they have posted on there menu, eggplant parm ravioli. She was very rude insisting I called the wrong place. Here is a screen shot of their menu showing the menu they have posted. Im sure the food is good but no need to be rude on the phone
Tonight was our first time at Mascali and it will not be our last.Mary was not only an excellent waitress she was very friendly. I have a lactose intolerance and I requested the gnocchi special be made without cream. She asked the kitchen and they agreed. Not only did they agree, but Jimmy the owner/ chef personally came to talk to my wife and I and discuss the preparation.The baked clams were excellent as were the calamari (and the plum tomato sauce was excellent).The gnocchi was probably the best that I have ever had.All the pasta is made fresh. My wifes pasta and sauce were both excellent. At the end of our meal Jimmy gave us a tour of his kitchen and we checked out his Italian market. Fresh and clean are two words that fit well. Im glad that we went on a week night because we got to see the staff at their best. Jimmy is a true chef and excellent restauranteur.We will definitely be back as regulars.Jimmy, thank you for the meat raviolis. I cant wait until we have them.

This may seem crazy but I think Im a distant cousin to the owners of this restaurant on their maternal side & my paternal side. Dont allow this to discount my review bc I had never known about that until after visiting Mascali Restaurant. My wife and I traveled up to Long Island from the Atlanta area and had the most wonderful meal there. The food was awesome, the service great and the attached Italian Deli was over the top for us. I felt like a kid in Brooklyn ! I will go back there wherever anywhere near that area. In my opinion, everyone should do the same !
Never ever had a bad meal or experience here. Went here with a party of 5 for my grandmothers 90th, and Mike was such a gracious, attentive and personable host to all of us. I ordered the lasagna and it was lasagna, done perfectly.The baked clams were very similar to the recipe that the Bonwit Inn used to make, and they are a favorite of mine now. Service was prompt, food was all fresh, especially the calamari and antipasto platter.Delicious drinks too!
Larkfield Pasta has THE BEST freshly made Manicotti on Long Island ... tasty Italian sausage too!
Have been here twice so far and it will be a staple to return to again and again! Very friendly & accommodating staff. Food is dynamite, spacious dining room, family friendly, very warm and welcoming, they make their own pasta & desserts and standards are very high...always leave here very satisfied..
My friend chose this quaint little place to have dinner last night and Im glad we came. It was clean, nicely lit and the staff was pleasant. Pasta is made in house so thats an added bonus. We were waited on by Mary. We were given a wine list and explained what the specials of the day were. I had the seafood marinara which came with clams, mussels, scallops, shrimp, calamari and sole fillet over a fresh bed of linguine. Delish! We were given a basket of bread (which was warm but hard) with butter. My friend had the lobster ravioli and practically climaxed during and after she was done devouring it lol Shes a picky eater but in the battle of food versus woman, food won! The iced water tasted fresh like they had their own special water line pipe that filters their own water. For dessert, I chose vanilla and chocolate ice cream encased in a dark chocolate shell with a cherry inside and it was topped with whipped cream, chocolate syrup and strawberry syrup. Sweet tooth: satisfied. My friend had the cannoli cake which she said was ok. Oh, you can save on your bill if you pay and tip in cash or youll be charged a 4% surcharge for credit/debit card transactions. Overall pleasant experience and will return.
This place is a hidden gem, not only is the staff always so attentive and friendly but they follow guidelines and rules, make you feel very comfortable. I go here all the time and the food is amazing and being a chicken Parm specialist on a scale from 1 to 10 I would say 8.1 which is very good!Our waiter, mike - on pointGive it a try, you will love the reliable food and service

Food is excellent. Service is great. They specialize in making macaroni and ravioli in house so l suggest trying that if that is your first time. But everything else is amazing as well. Only con is the restuaraunt is kind of small and fills up quick so make a reservation. But then again that small homey atmosphere is why you would go there.

The food is amazing, best italian food on Long Island. The staff & service is unmatched. try the Lunch Specials 12bucks gets you a meal u think you had traveled to Italy for. I love this place and almost never knew it was there after living in the same town for almost 4years. Oh, and everything there is homemade!

We ordered and picked up dinner last night. The lobster ravioli fabulous. Equally good but healthier, the chicken over spinach was delish.Our ordered also included crab cakes, hot sausage and stromboli. Looking forward to trying the rest.
It took over 30 minutes for the waitress to take our order. The table next to us with two people got their food, finished their food, and had their table cleaned. We had to get up from the table to get the manager to get our waitress. I am writing this and we just received our salad. So to add to this review we wound up leaving and cancelling the order, because the salad was brown. When we left all they said was are you coming back. No never. I dont care if the food is amazing. No one should wait 30 minutes in a restaurant with empty tables to get their order taken. Not to mention the bread was cold. The butter was perfectly cold and soft. But the staff obviously are too busy lighting candles. This is what we get when we dont go to our favorite Italian restaurant and try something new. Horrible service.

High quality Italian food that stands out among the crowd in this area. Tons of local places, but this one you can taste the difference. Standard size menu, lots of great drink selections, desserts were on point, the staff was friendly, and the parking in the back plentiful. Only one star missing because the prices were a bit steep, but that does seem to be the theme in this area. Would definitely recommend!
Great accommodations from my husband, who is in a wheelchair. There pesto sauce is the best Ive ever had! Hands down! I would love to go back soon!

Pleasant local shop/ restaurant with homemade pastas and desserts. Was blown away by their freshly made apple strudel yet not as impressed by their Napoleons. Pastas can be wonderful depending on the day. Do visit their shop for take out treats.
Another great experience at Mascali. The service is friendly, capable and welcoming. Try the veal saltimbocca. Its great. Tonights dessert was fabulous....and I am not usually a dessert eater. Weve been a few times and will go back again.
A lowkey evening out with my wife and her family turned into something else entirely. Little did I know, the special would be Sauerbraten.I know!At an Italian eatery, no less. Great cozy atmosphere, candles, soft music, great food.

I have not had the pleasure of the restaurant end of it yet, however the market is great. All theyre food is wonderful. Try the pot of sauce with fresh pasta and meats. $39.99 you can feed 4 plus generously. Everyone will love it!

I think the food is great and i would give it more then 5 stars for that. But i think it is extremely over priced for the location its in(strip mall no curb appeal at all) and the portion size. We spent over $60 on 2 take out dinners. Veal parm and chicken sorrentino and it was literally 2 tiny peices of chicken both smaller then my palm, together it wasnt even half of a small chicken breasts worth. Im not saying i wouldnt go back. The food is really good. Just the location and ambiance does not warrent the price tag

Im Italian on my mothers side, and usually feel, meh, I could do it myself. Not with Mascalis. They have a superb selection of fresh pasta, cheese, sauce, and prepared dishes. I once took two packages of chocolate ravioli with raspberry jam inside 600 miles for Xmas. It was devoured in about two minutes. I always have their pasta, pesto, and cheese in my fridge. Last time I was there I got some sausage with truffles. Wonderful.
Went here for a shower. The food was delicious, and I am extremely hard to please when it comes to real authentic Italian food The service was amazing. The staff constantly made sure everyone had food and wine
Really good food and an average to more pricy menu. Most pasta is made there. That said, the kitchen is a bit slow, be prepared to sit for a while. But its worth the wait.

Child size portions, ordered dinner- veal like shoe leather, shrimp tasteless and 2 oz. Piece of salmon was dry. What vegetables? One pinky sized carrot slivered into 4 pieces! Owner would not allow waiter to bring more bread. Left and had to order a pizza elsewhere. (we are small adults) never again! Good luck-

A terrific italian restaurant in my little town. The food is excellent. Nice and cozy. Make sure you try the sicilian salad. My only criticism is that youre not given menus when youre seated. Strange.

It got very quiet when the main course came out because everyone was really enjoying thier food. Absolutely amazing job. They kept water glasses filled and beverages refilled constantly. All the pasta here is always fresh which is another amazing thing that you dont see at a lot of Italian restaurants. The staff and food here are incredible. Will absolutely be back for more future parties.

Came to Mascali for Long Island Restaurant week with my best friend. The food was phenomenal. We both had asparagus in carozza, veal piccata, and she had rainbow cookie cake while I had pumpkin crumble. Everything was delicious. Their restaurant week options were diverse, and there were many things on the regular menu id like to try as well. The service was wonderful, although my server spilled my wine. She was very apologetic & coming from a family of restaurant people I didnt hold it against her. It was a nice environment but very empty for a Thursday night.
If ya want great Italian food, thats the place to go.

Stopped by at random to pick up some fresh cannoli for a party and OMG this place rocks. The guys behind the counter are super nice, gave us free samples of multiple items we didnt even ask for while we waited for our cannoli order which was filled fresh on the spot, powdered with the perf amount of sugar, and a smash at the party.
