Quick and no-nonsense service! My husband got a baby seat installed on his bike last summer at Joyful, and our now 18-month-old is very demanding with bike rides. I went to another shop to try to get a baby seat holder installed on my own bike, and was told a special part was needed and we waited weeks, it never came. I brought my bike to Joyful and they were able to install a seat adapter in a matter of hours. A lifesaver!! Heading to a bike-ride-filled vacation this week, we are so grateful. Thank you!

This is my go-to bike shop. Ive been a regular for years, and happily so. We bought our bikes from them (Gary Fisher Mendota, disk brakes) years ago and they take care of all our bike needs - from fixing flats to replacing tires, inner tubes, chains, cassette, bike pumps, tune-ups, apparel, accessories, indoor bike resistance trainer for winter workouts, etc. Im happy to go back time and again. They are a friendly neighborhood bike shop with deep respect for their community and a goal to be most helpful while supporting the great cause of good health and fun on the road.

Had an issue with my bike wheel that another bike shop couldnt fix. At Joyful Cycle, they were able to fix the issue in a matter of hours and explain the problem. They were very professional and friendly! I was so happy to have my bike back so quickly so I can ride over the weekend! Theyre definitely my go to bike shop from now on!

This is a great bike shop. The staff are super helpful and always have time to answer questions. I bring my bike in for tune-ups regularly and I am always pleased with how friendly and efficient they are.

If I could give them zero stars I would. For starters, the person who answered the phone was extremely rude and disrespectful. I brought my bike in after being told they would fix the chain real quick on the spot. When I got there, the guy behind the counter had a huge attitude and told me to leave it and they would call me when it was done. I got home 20 minutes later and I got phone call that it was ready. I drive back to get the bike, load it into my car and when I get home and take the buke out, the chain falls off. I call and they tell me to bring it in and they would fix it. I get there and the owner tells me to leave the bike and they would call the next day when ready. I got a bit angry at this point and demanded the bike be fixed now and fixed right, after all, I had paid for everything upfront. I was told that I had t wait outside until the bike was done. It is amazing that this place is still on business with how rude and unprofessional they are. I will never go back there again and will urge others to do the same.

I came here last week with my husband and daughter. All we wanted to do was purchase a bike and ask a few questions. The guy with the glasses was very rude and was acting as if he didn’t want to help us. We didn’t leave with a bike because I would rather spend my money else where. Very unprofessional…

Worst place to service bikes. They charged me alot for worst service I ever seen. Chain now keeps falling off after their service and my son almost died due to this. Took it so far twice and still not fixed. They should not be servicing bikesWent back and they fixed flat. Still testing

Came in with what I thought was a simple issue with my Cannondale. Turned out to be a special order part that I needed. The guys went out of their way to find something compatible in the shop. Smooth from start to finish. They got the job done same day!

Friendly and knowledgeable staff are always there to help. I love supporting local businesses, especially when they do good work. Ive brought bikes in more than once for repairs (I have boys... theyre tough on the bikes) and not only do they do the repairs I asked for, Joyful always checks the brakes etc. to make sure we are as safe as possible when riding. They do great work for a fair price. What more can you ask for!?

I would never go there again. brought my sons bike in to get a flat replaced. The rim was put on crooked. the chain was loose and popped off. One of the brake pads was loose and my sons special order tube cap was not replaced. You has one job and you failed!

Go somewhere else. I took my bike in to fix a flat tire. They fixed the tire, but the gears arent working properly now and cranks are making odd sounds they never did before. I never had any issues with the bike before I brought it in.When I brought up the issue, they said I just didnt know anything about bicycles and that everything was normal, even though I had never had these problems before. Service here was one of the worst Ive ever seen, as many other reviewers have similarly said. I have to take my bike somewhere else now to fix the issues theyve created since they refuse to take any responsibility.If anyone is reading these reviews, take note of how many 1 star ratings this place has. Its a hint that their service is garbage.

I needed help with my cleat shoes and the sales person at the front desk did not entertain the idea of helping me he had attitude for sure and understaffed so I do not recommend this place for any cycling needs.

Decided to pop into Joyful Cycle while we were in the neighborhood getting dinner. Wed been searching for a new great bike for my wife but havent had any luck with the great 2020 bike shortage. We went into Joyful and was greeted by James who was very helpful and knowledgeable. He let us know what bikes he had coming in soon and what would be a great fit for my wife. We ordered a new Trek and some accessories and James came outside as well to take a look at our bike rack. Ill definitely be going back for my next bike because of James and his excellent support & service. Were super excited to pick up our new bike when it comes in.

Came to look at a bike that I put on hold for my husbands birthday. The employees (not the owner) must not have been interested in making a sale because they were insanely rude to us from the moment we walked in the door. Told us we couldn’t touch the bike (Covid) and all sales were final. Fair enough, if that’s your policy, but the way in which they spoke to us was disparaging and rude. Don’t waste your time visiting this sketchy bike shop. From other reviews seems like this place is a scam. Recommend going elsewhere!

Joyful Cycle is a team of experts who can explain. assess, recommend, and repair any bike from simple to extremely complex. In my case all bikes were specialized and complex but each time problems are resolved 100% and always on time. Kudos to the team for staying safe and operational all throughout 2020!

The ownership is no nonsense, straightforward and gets right to the point. Didnt waste my time upselling me on a thousand products. Great listener who quickly figured out what I needed and how to get the bike to me in a timely manner. Which is kinda crazy to say in this new Covid cautious world which has seen a manufacturing slowdown which increases the lead time for bikes. I was lucky enough to find one that I liked and was promised to get it in 1-2 weeks. Other guys told me 12 months. And prices that were unbelievable. Pay now and maybe get one a year later? No thanks. I prefer the order now with a deposit and pay later approach. The experience was so good that I ordered two bikes instead of one! I ordered it on Oct 1 and took delivery on Oct 15. Highly recommend Joyful.

We have been using Joyful​ Cycle for twelve years, ever since we moved to the area. We have bought several high-end road bicycles (Trek, Jamis) there over the years, along with related equipment, clothing, etc. We have found James and his staff to be very professional and very personable at all times. I purchased my bike at Joyful 11 years ago and it still rides very well! I took it in for repairs last week and after the repairs were completed, the bike runs just as well! The owner, James Lee, even remembered me from when I first purchased the bike, which goes to show that they know how to take of their customers. Highly recommended!

I came here for a tubeless conversion from a with tube, got charged for $150 for it. I know for a fact that sealant leaks will be there in first few days or so, the leak never stopped for 3 months. I decided do do it myself, not a single leak on day one.One more thing, I bought a Bontrager pump from them when I picked up my bike, the guage is not working from when I started using it after a week I bought it, unfortunately I lost the receipts so I cant go back there.

Purchased a bike for my wife from Trek online and was led to this store as they do a home delivery. Given the current situation I went ahead with the purchase out of convenience but was glad that I did- They had a great follow up and delivered my bike to my house direct. The man I spoke to (I didnt get his name) was very pleasant and when he arrived he was masked and gloved- big thumbs up for that. Cant wait to hit some trails with the whole family now. I love my Townie E-bike thanks to James the can-do owner of JOYFUL. At the original delivery I was crestfallen because the bike was beautiful but simply too big for me. I am not young and have physical issues that require very specific measurements for biking safety. In a bad mood, I returned the bike to Joyful. Although he would not benefit financially, he switched into problem-solving mode. I left the bike there and picked it up when he called. The smart and subtle changes he made were miraculous. I purchased my first respectable bicycle, a Trek FX 2 from Joyful. Before that I was riding vintage and used bicycles and wow what a difference a brand new bike with disc brakes makes! Every time I bring my bicycle in for a tune up or maintenance it feels amazingly smooth to ride afterwards. I scheduled my tune up appointment weeks in advance, dropped my bike off the morning of and got it back that afternoon with time to get a great ride in that day. I have a great rapport with the owners and mechanic. If you need a new bike or just a tune up this is a great place to get into cycling as a passion.

Such a bad experience initially I took my bicycle to repair a flat tire it took them two tubes and I end up buying a new tire today I took my street strider three wheel bicycle to the shop to adjust the brake they were so rude they came out and they told me I don’t wanna work on your street Stider. he just I don’t wanna touch it and it was just a simple brake adjustment so I ended up googling other shops around and I went to Kim’s shop and you can check my review at Kim’s shop I went there they were so nice the gentleman took my street strider he checked the brake wires it took him five minute he adjusted debris

Owner and bike techs are all very knowledgeable and spokespeople for the sport. James was very honest with me about their shop backlog and the bike was done exactly when they promised me it would be done. The quality of the work performed was outstanding.

Had a nice experience buying bikes for our family. James and his workers were very helpful. We could have ordered online or via big store but given the current COVID19 situation, we thought we would rather support small business in our community and we were not disappointed.

Very disappointing service. We came in asking for help with our son’s bike. He has Autism and has made a lot of progress with his motor skills to the point that he is now able to ride a bike properly and with speed. However, he still needs training wheels as he continues to practice his balance. When we visited this store asking for help to install training wheels on my son’s new (and bigger) bike the response was “he needs to learn how to ride without them” “we can’t help”. Very judgmental comment when they didn’t know the story behind our request. We will never visit this store again and will never recommend. Very disappointing!

The owner and the wife are very professional. Though the service is a bit on the high side, but am glad i could get my kids bikes fixed in a timely fashion. Am also glad they are opened at this time of social distancing in the world.

Went to joyful this afternoon to have my bike fixed. The manager was so polite and helpful. He repaired it in minutes. He even helped me put a bike rack onto my car. Some of the best service Ive ever had in a bike shop. I intend to be back there soon!

I went into Joyful Cycle to inquire about a bike and what I got was an education and the best customer service Ive probably ever had. Jonathan was very knowledgeable and really went above and beyond to accomodate me in every way. He was patient, attentive and made me feel comfortable about my purchase. Rip-off owners. They upsell you for a tune-up that is totally not required. Thr guy rotates the pedal, and says a tune-up is essential. And has the gall to charge $20 as diagnostic fee for just rotating the pedal and coming up with that absurd service. Also they fid not properly fix the handle on my son’s bike. It shakes, I did not want to take it back to their store because I’m so done with these untrustworthy guys.There are better honest stores around, I just found that out.

BE ADVISED do not come here, horrible customer services and makes sure that you come back to spend more and more money which is both to pricey and exaggerated. Be also aware that he does not tell you the price until after the job is done making sure you are forced to pay, which I’ve dealt with and even was threatened by the worker by calling the cops on me. Update on July 12, 2021:This is a great bicycle shop. I have been a customer since when this business was located in nearby Highland Park. There is a good reason I have never stepped inside any other bicycle shop in over 10 years: this shop gets the job done right ... every single time! I am not a bicycle expert nor am I handy with bicycle repairs so I trust this shop to recommend new equipment as well as to repair my existing equipment. Interacting with the owner and his wife is always 100% satisfactory; they take the time to listen to me and to provide useful tips and solutions. I feel a sense of empathy from the owner whenever I speak to him. On my most recent visit to the shop, the owner did a quick on the spot inspection of my Trek bicycle and told me that it didnt need a full service (he could have earned $100+ for a full service that I had come in for). I was impressed and before I left the shop, I had bought nearly $300 of new equipment from him. The owner doesnt want to short change you, he is a smart businessman - please understand that before you go in.Original review from 2015 (approx.):I have bought 2 young adult bicycles for my kids at Joyful Cycles and I have had my hybrid bicycle serviced annually there a number of times. I have also bought other bicycle accessories worth hundreds of dollars from them over the years. Their service is top notch and they are very friendly people. There have been times when they didnt charge me anything for small issues that could be fixed on the spot. Yet this isnt a discount shop (as the owner himself put it once). Meaning you should expect to pay full price for bicycles and services. I believe the excellent service provided by the owner and the staff nearly justifies their prices. Once you go in the shop with this knowledge upfront, I believe you will definitely be pleased as I have been.

Super friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Got a tube replaced yesterday for my flat. The next morning I noticed it was flat again, so I brought my bike back in. The technician figured out that the wheel tape(I think thats what it was called) kept on causing the flat. They did not charge me for any of the costs the second time even after replacing both the tube again and the wheel tape. Will definitely be coming back for all my biking needs. Highly recommend.

I received a tremendous amount of help and advice as I started to get back into cycling in my senior years. I was guided to find a bike that accommodated my knee and back issues and was given all the time I needed to ask a myriad of questions. I have returned for servicing and accessories that never fail to live up to expectations. The owner is the friendliest person you would ever want to meet and his enthusiasm and positive energy gets me back out on the bike trails to find my bliss.

I came here to get a repair done on my daughters rear wheel for her bike. Here’s an FYI for the owner: when you condescendingly tell someone to “buy a better bike” you are not doing yourself a favor in regards to sales. Did you think that by telling me this, that I was then going to purchase an upgraded bike from you? The first time I had my mountain bike repaired there he did the same thing verbally putting down the bike. I still decided to give this location another try since it is local business. Listen if you don’t like to work on “department store” bikes then you should put a sign in the window. There are much better ways to express this to your customers than being arrogant and cocky. I brought it to your shop for repair not because I desperately needed you, but because I didn’t want to invest the time myself. Going forward I will be repairing our bikes or taking them elsewhere. Btw you could have made another sale as I was about to buy some chain oil from you until your smart remark. I will now buy it online.

Joyful has been my bike shop for many years, for two bikes that I ride frequently/daily. James and Jose provide outstanding service. Many flats fixed (often in an hour or less, while I go to Costco) + repairs and tune-ups. I rely on them, and they are reliable and helpful. Highly recommend!

I had a perfect experience at Joyful. I spoke to the owner, and he listened every thing I wanted in a bike. Within a few moments he pointed me to the bike I soon purchased. Super Friendly atmosphere and Very nice place. I had went there to get my valve fixed on my bike and was helped by a very warm and generous gentleman by the name of Jose Camino. He took the time to tell me everything that was wrong with the valve and also helped me with other aspects of the bike and how to properly keep riding smooth. Very nice addition to a very nice bike store. Prices are very fair as well!

My daughter needed a small fix on her scooter that I couldnt do. We brought it in and they fixed it for free and were super kid-friendly too! My daughter and I were so happy they fixed it on the spot and for free. I would definitely go back there to buy a bike or get something fixed because they are really honest and nice. Cant say enough good about this business. (It isnt the first positive experience there either.)

Before going to Joyful Cycles, I purchased all of my bikes from Wal-Mart or Target. I had become accustomed to bikes constantly breaking down. The staff at Joyful put me on one of their bikes and showed me the difference in quality between a department store bike and a bike shop bike. They were very knowledgeable and very kind. Since then I have purchased three bikes at Joyful and go there for all my servicing and accessories.

Went in showed my pedal that I thought could be fixed and was explained that it needed to be replaced because of how corroded it was they had the part and put it in for me very quickly.

Just picked up my new trek from Joyful, and the staff there was great throughout the whole process. They helped me narrow down my choice and suggested some great accessories. They talked me through some maintenance basics, and insisted that I test ride the bike before I made a final decision.

Bad customer service.....the worst place ever....I went there on a Saturday morning to get my handle bar tightened....the Asian guy never greeted me ...I said Good morning ..he said oh hey...What do you need?He was very nasty .....and told me to go back where I brought the bike from......... Dont take your bike there.....Try Planet Bikes much better customer service....

Joyful Cycle is a great bike shop for those looking for quality equipment.  Ive bought multiple Trek bikes from them over the years and never had an issue.  The owner is a cyclist himself, so he knows firsthand what hes selling and talking about.  Dont let some of the bad reviews mislead you.  There are always going to be complainers.  You cant please everyone.  If youre looking for a great local shop to buy quality bikes or get your bike maintenance/repairs then I can 100% recommended Joyful Cycle.

I own several high end mountain, road, and triathlon bikes and constantly upgrade/maintain them. So, I leave plenty of money at bike stores and know my prices.The employees are very helpful and know their stuff. They also have pretty good bikes and accessories.This store is unfortunately run by a owner/manager, who is greedy and not customer-oriented at all. Like others mentioned, he is a Chinese gentleman. He never interrupted his personal business when I approached the counter or entered the store. Even when I was personally greeted by his staff, who knew me from several visits and expert discussions.When I bought tubes and smaller parts, the prices were pretty much always made up by the owner on the fly. They always were substantially higher (10-20%) than the ones listed in their online catalog.For 2 non-catalog transactions, things got ridiculous. He priced me for 20 steel balls about $5.00 - 150 of a higher quality can be bought for less than $10 online from them.When I called about the availability of a tool, the owner promised me a good price for their used tool from the repair shop. He called me back and gave me a higher price than for a new one. When I pointed out that the new tool was cheaper, he commented You need the tool now, right?.Finally, I placed an online order/store pickup to avoid his price hijacking (I live close by and therefore was reluctant to change stores only to buy some parts). The order was processed properly, a confirmation emailed, and my credit card was charged. After over one week of silence, I checked the order status and it was shown as canceled. My credit card charge was reversed. I emailed the customer service. After more than 10 days, the owner/manager replied and explained that there obviously was some problem with their online ordering system?! He never apologized or asked me whether to still process the order etc.In short, the manager/owner should really strongly consider to change to a non-customer-related business.I decided to leave my money elsewhere. I feel sorry for the many nice folks working there - they are really excited cyclists and know their stuff.

Trek Bike official website sent me here. The owner was nice.....though...When I asked him to test drive the bike, his answer was: you might test drive it, but you have to buy it after that. ........Finally I found my Trek Mountain Bike at another store. Of course, this is not the 1st bike I test-drive.

The owner has been holding onto my tools and bike for a few months now because I owe him some money, however he has refused to provide me any documentation regarding my debt. Ive talked to him several times and have informed him that I am unable to come into the store. I asked him to email me a break down of what I owe so that Id be able to set up a payment plan. Every time we discussed this he would always end the conversation with come in and well talk about it. Even when the wheel was stolen off of my Domane from right on his sale floor, he still refused to provide any documentation. When I last spoke to him, he told me it would take too much of my free time to write it up. Lets say you owe me about $1000. Pay me now. At this point it feels like my things are being held hostage. Im done trying to be friendly. I will be letting the BBB take over from here. Good day.

James and his staff are super knowledgeable. Always helpful and great turnaround. I always bring my bikes here for tune-ups prior to my races.

When there to true my Zipp wheels and in less than two hours I received a call that it was done. Every time I go there, I get excellent service. Thank you 👍🏻

Only note is that I didnt get an itemized receipt of what the checkup covered. Friendly.

I called to ask if I can have my bicycle looked at since the gears seemed to be slipping. When the man asked where I bougth the bike, I answered Walmart. He said ( with a tone in his voice of dont bother me with your cheap bike )take it back, those bikes are money pits.Take it back, get your money back and then come buy a bike from me . With his poor customer services have no confidence in this bike shop.I called another bike shop,Kims in New Brunswick and they were more then willing to look at my bicycle .I was in Kims bike shop for 15 mins and $10 later I was riding my fixed bike. A simple adjustment and a friendly attitude they now have a customer for life. The next day I took my niece to Kims since they were helpful to. She bought a $350 bike !!I will recommend Kims bike shop to anyone every time. As for Joyful cycle, they should change their name since they were not joyful to me !!

BECAREFUL/ BEWARE HIGH RATES, AND HELD MY PARTS.

Been a customer here for many years. Bought my kids various bikes as they grew, always got good advice, and patient time to explain things. Now I have a recumbent that requires some special and unusual attention, and they have been great in taking the time to get it right, even with several iterations, due to the finicky nature of this unusual bike. They have gone the extra mile for me.

This is not to bash anyone. I paid before my bike spoke was replaced and was told it would be started on the next day. And went to get the bike rim thinking yes I get to ride my bike again and the guy says oh I didnt get to it yet cuz we were so busy when theres no one there. So ok he said he was starting on it again and hours later he still didnt finish it. It takes an hour to change a spoke and true the wheel. He also didnt give me a receipt and almost didnt give my money back. I took my Rim to extreme bikes in woodbridge and the guy there said hes been hearing people say about there bad experiance at joyful. So its up to you if you want to go top joyful. Ill say this I sure am not joyful at all!!!!

The Joyful Cycle team is great. It has been a while since I have been on a bicycle, so I needed to get my bike tuned up. They did a great job of prepping my bike for riding again, and answered all my questions about riding (e.g. bike maintenance).

Joyful Cycle has one of friendly and professional employees I have ever dealt with from any bikeshops. When I brought in a defected bike frame that was purchased from another bikes hope, I didn’t expect to get much help with warranty exchange from Trek. However, Jon and James was very helpful and helped so much to exchange the frame from Trek. If any work done with Trek bike, this is THE bikeshop fo you!!Awesome Bike Shop!!!

Been going to Joyful for over 5 years now... James was extremely helpful when I first got into road cycling. I bought my Trek Madone from Joyful and have had the bike serviced with them exclusively. - - I was at the store when Billy Bobby who posted a complaint was there to pick up his bike -- there was something not right with his actions - it seemed like he was there the day before to get the bike fixed and he was ok with the costs, but all of a sudden he was surprised about the costs of the new set of repairs he just got.
