Server was nice, prompt and helpful. Food was good. I got a Reuben sandwich and I liked that the dressing came on the side. It kept the bread from getting soggy and I could add extra if I wanted. It was a delicious sandwich with a yummy bowl of coleslaw and a pickle. My partner got the gyro and it came with a delicious Greek salad. Our friends got fish and chips and a burger. All said their food was good.
The portions sizes make you remember why you go to diners. Most meals have the entree, the salad, potato/veg and dessert. Its never ending. The menu is as varied as any Ive seen. Want and omelet- no problem. Gyro- theyve got that too. Hotdogs, burgers fries... it just keeps going! This spot was clean, friendly and inviting. Sitting and talking, eating our ways through mountain of food.... it was True Jersey. 🤙🏻
Loved it. My party was seated within five minutes on a crowded Saturday morning. The staff was very polite and prompt. Food was excellent. Portions are very generous. Prices are perfect. If Im ever in the area again, I will be back.
Nice family friendly diner with a huge menu. The portions are huge (even the kids meals)! The dinner meals come with soup, salad and a dessert. My daughter was happy they had a cute little kids menu and that the meals included dessert. The mojito and veal parmesan werent good, but overall a nice place to eat.Our server Arturo was super nice! Thank you!
Long overdue review of my favorite NJ diner. One of the last of the classic old school Greek diners. The food is fantastic, the portions huge and the service is always 10/10. All the desserts and everything are fresh, made on premises daily and everything there is reasonably priced. Great spot
Our server could have been better. Think of the bare minimum a server can do, thats basically what we got. I asked for a coffee and a water.... I had to ask again for my water, but he did refill my coffee. So not the worst service but not the best either. The food was good. I had a tuna melt it was good, my boyfriend had the cheese steak it was really good and then we had the strawberry cheese cake, that was outstanding. We will be back.
One of my favorite places for a quick bite or a celebration of sorts. My last time I was there was for breakfast. I ordered eggs over easy, turkey bacon and rye toast. The eggs were delicious and the bacon was unbelievable. Tasted like real bacon (I miss it) but the turkey bacon was just as delicious. Well, what can I say about the rye toast but it was good.Had a nice cup of tea and a chocolate chip cookie for dessert. For $10 it was a lovely stuffing meal. All that + excellent attentive service = repeat customer.
Food is decent, and portion sizes are relatively generous. However, they need to put someone else on the phone. I called to place a sizeable order for a family event, and the person on the phone barely spoke English and was extremely rude then claimed to be the owner when I asked to speak with a manager (I highly doubt that). I took my business elsewhere and will do the same from now on. I will also further recommend everyone I know to avoid this place like the plague.
One word - FANTASTICgreat diner menu..if I was there a week, I would have had several meals to try more items.I had the Monte Cristo. One of the best, I have ever eaten and Im a connoisseur of Monte Cristo. The best part it wasnt deep fried but still very tasty. The ambiance was right on too. The walls are covered with quotes and information about Thomas Edison.I took a few pictures for me, they are fair only know the real thing is better.Owner up front at the door, service and food were outstanding.
The atmosphere and decor was beautiful. Joaquin was our wait person. My husband ordered the prime rib and I ordered the baked lamb w/ orzo pilaf. We started of with the pea soup which was homemade and delicious. The salads were also fresh. My husband ordered the prime rib and I ordered the baked lamb w/ orzo pilaf. When our order came out, my husbands prime rib was perfect and the bakedLamb was a disaster! The dish was smothered in brown gravy and on the other side was orzo pilaf in a tomato mixture! No where on the menu does it mention the brown gravy or that the orzo pilaf had tomato in it!!! Silly me, I was expecting baked lamb w/ a little mint jelly on the side and the orzo to be in a butter sauce. Sometimes less is more. The lamb was very fatty like mutton. I sent it back and ordered the crabcakes, by the time the crabcakes came out my husband was finished his meal and I was full from the soup and salad, I had to make room for dessert!!! I asked Joaquin to wrap it up to take it home. For dessert my husband had the tiramisu and I had creme brule. The tiramisu Al said was delicious and mine was also delicious but slightly runny. I would be willing to try the restaurant another time. See the pictures I took.
This is my husbands favorite diner. His go to is the tuna melt. We love coming here during Ramadan for suhoor. Great portions, fair prices. Major points for being open late night and early mornings. Definitely a comfort food type of place
Ate THERE ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO AND THE SERVICE, FOOD AND ATMOSPHERE WAS OUTSTANDING AND FRESH ORANGE JUICE IS AWESOME! THANK YOU..
Very family friendly restaurant.. also an ideal place for date day/ night. Ive had lunch and dinner, each time they didnt disappoint. Great food. Versatile menu. They serve breakfast, lunch or dinner. Definitely one of my go to places for a good meal
This will be our regular stop coming and going up and down the pike. We had an excellent dinner at almost 10 pm at night. Exactly what you want when you come to a good diner (no grease- food or tables). The food was better than many restaurants we have visited, and the portions are big. Desserts are homemade- do not skip the carrot cake, and get a slice to go!
Great service. Greeted at the door by the very friendly owner. It wasnt the fastest diner I have been in. But in these Covid times we live In we totally understand and our waiter was doing just fine. It was a busy time of day. The food was cooked perfectly. That was the important thing.
Love the Edison Diner! Its a classic NJ diner with high-quality food and one of the only places I will order chicken because it is never disgusting like it is at so many other restaurants. Im partial to their salads with grilled chicken. The menu is vast and everything is great.
The food was as delicious as the portions were generous. You cant beat the variety of dishes served by a great NJ diner. Service was most excellent! Well definitely stop there again next time were in town!
First time there - breakfast was great and waiter was on point - I recommend for breakfast
Good food. Great big portions.. only prob I had was my cinnamon swirl french toast was still bread.. not soaked in egg batter
First off I have to say I was recommended this establishment for its good reputation. Although for its star studded glamour, the food was a plethora to choose from and can be comparable to that of a Harry Potter book. The type of food being served isn’t really diner at all for the most part. The only good food served was a Bacon Cheeseburger Deluxe and was made decently well. Will try other things on the dictionary sized menu soon.
Best diner within 20 miles. Amazing food and service. Everything is always fabulous.
I remember the Edison diner when it was on the corner of Plainfield Ave. The new location looks great inside, absolutely old worldly. The menu was overwhelming in its size. I would actually shrink it just to make it easier for customers to navigate. I had some of my wifes Greek salad and it was better than the last salad I had at a Greek owned diner. The classic chicken parmigiana sandwich was very tasty, but I would have paired it with the salad to lighten it up. Overall I was very pleased with my visit.
Its a nice local diner. It has the classics and more. It can be a bit pricey but they do give you a lot of food which for the most part is pretty good. Dinner type meals come with bread, soup, salad, potato and a veg. Good comfort food. Burgers are very good. Breakfasts are good also. Very importantly the staff are very nice and accomodating.
Amazing selection for food; so much to choose. They have bottle beer and wine available. We had the spinach and mushroom omelette which was good. We also had the spicy pablano omelette. Also good
Pleasantly surprised by the quality of this diners food. I had breakfast for dinner in Edisons Breakfast Skillet and the eggs were cooked perfectly and the sausage, bacon, and Canadian bacon we among the highest quality Ive seen in a diner. The pancakes were delicious!! The hashbrowns were bland and unseasoned, which stood out as odd as I figured a diner would excel at that.... but considering how good the rest of the meal was, it gets a pass. The price was decent considering the quality of the food.
This diner is one of my favorites. It is located close to my home and I usually order from here for breakfast, lunch and dinner ! The entire staff is very good.
Tremendous variety, everything fresh, amazing salad entrees, gracious staff. Something on the menu for every taste and diet, including vegetarian.
Been coming here for years. Excellent place, huge portions, great service. One of my favorite diners highly recommended!
We stopped for dessert and we were all so glad we did...everything was wonderful, from the strawberry shortcake to the lemon meringue to the chocolate mousse...but the CHEESECAKE was the best Ive ever had. Even though we live an hour away, we WILL be back! Dont miss this diner...my compliments to the top notch bakery staff.
Food and service was great. Went there on a Sunday after a bowling tournament with some friends. Chose that diner because of great available hours on a Sunday. Glad we made that choice because the food was awsome. Must have been a very popular place due to the crowd that was there, although it was nothing too overwhelming. Definitely would eat there again.
This diner is one of three 24 hour dinners in the area. Because there open 24 hours they have different shirts for cooks and I find the quality of the food served at night is higher quality than the food served during the day, The service is always excellent and the value is and was outstanding, very reasonably priced, great if you near New Brunswick for a late night snack
Their pumpkin cheesecake cant be beat!!
Great place, pretty fast service. Went here 2 days in a row during our lunch break. The French onion soup is amazing! They have a huge variety of dishes to choose from, big portions and fair prices. My co-worker got a lunch special both times, and both days they forgot to give her her dessert. When we mentioned it, they were more than happy to accommodate her for the inconvenience. I would definitely recommend this place.
I really enjoy the food there and the atmosphere you can go there anytime and eat anything Ive had from eggs and bacon to chicken parmesan with linguine and the food is always excellent and the server or the servers are always excellent polite professional and well-dressed
This place is great, they give you alot of food and the food is good and the price is great on dinners includes drinks and soup and salad and dessert and big entree we always have left overs to bring home. Excellent place to eat
Lunch was great...met a few friends...had a great time...Food was Excellent as always...Thank You!!😍
Love Edison Diner, have been going to them 36 years and the food is ALWAYS AMAZING 👏
For the price at which the diner offers a meal/ food it is decent. It may just be the pandemic for the increased prices, but if the prices were lowered just a little this place would be unstoppable. Loved the food and service was good too.
Arrived at 12:10am on Saturday night. The man who worked at the hostess desk looked upset and didn’t want to seat us. He said we are closing at 1:00am. I respect that workers want to go home at the end of their shift but this guy was outright rude and shouldn’t be working around customers. Since the restaurant was still open for another 50 minutes we decided to order food to go.When the food was ready, the same man tried to overcharge me for the bill. When I asked to see my receipt he apparently charged me for the check of another guest which to me appeared to be intentional. The food was average at best. I have certainly had much better food in most other diners.Never again will I return to this place. I don’t recommend. There are too many other great diners in NJ.
Myself and coworkers spotted this restaurant on the daily commute from the hotel to work in Edison as a new branch of the company recently transitioned to Edison. We were all pleasantly surprised with the quality, price, and enormous variety of the menu. It was a late night, well after 11pm, when we left work looking for an open restaurant. Service was great, and the food was even better. Well probably tell others about the experience and go back if as we know this place stays open late.
Best place and exelent service.one of my favorite places is this since Im here at 🇺🇸
Ordered a Chicken Parm Dinner through their website. The website does not give the option of selecting soup and salad nor does it prompt you to call or write in what you want. Believing I would just get the house special I proceeded to place my order for pickup.I was in the area and drove and picked up my whole order, asking the hostess if everything was in the bags. Not living in the area it was about 40 minutes until I got home and could open my meal. It was then I discovered they did not give us our soup and salad on a $24 dollar dinner.Called and spoke with the manager who told me that they owe us a soup and salad the next time we come in. Being that we don’t live in the area and it would be many months before we could return I asked if they could just charge back a portion of the meal to my card. The manager insisted they would not do that, that I should have called the restaurant to make sure they included my soup and salad (again, their online order system does not prompt you to call) and because the soup and salad is complimentary to the dish there was nothing they could credit back to my card.I asked him if they could make an exception since the fault was on their system and staff who did not ask or include the soup and salad and he proceeded to tell me no and then hung up on me.Service has truly gone down hill when you pay $24 dollars for a meal that can be made for a total of $8 and they can’t be bothered to credit back even $3-5 for a “complimentary” soup and salad.
THIS IS THE BEST DINER THAT A PERSON HAS EVER BEEN TO THE EMPLOYEES ARE REALLY NICE I HAD TO PUT 5 STARS BECAUSE I WAS FORCED TO IF I HAD IT MY WAY IT WOULD BE 6 OR 10
Never disappointed. Called in while we were waiting to check in to our hotel.
The Edison Diner was Awesome it was my first time there. Food was delicious our waitress was very nice. Will definitely be going back.
I live in Matawan/keyport area and still drive to Edison Diner because for one, its the only Diner in a 15-20 mile radius that is open after 11pm & two- they really do have the best pancakes, bacon and breakfast
Good old fashioned diner. No lunch specials...
We go there every wknd. The foods great, prices r pretty good depending on what u order and service is great as well.
Traditional American diner. Good quality food and large portions. Very nice interior. Family owned for 60+ years. Easily accessed from South bound US rte 1 just before the entrance to Donald Goodkind bridge over the Raritan river. Counter service is available. Waiting staff, including Oscar, are very good.$$. many meals include soup, excellent or salad, fresh, and desert. Ice cream was very good.
Food was very good. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive.Clean dining room .And last but not least the Cheese Cake is AWESOME.
Pleasant staff, friendly waiter and good, hot food. We had delicious chicken tenders, soups and sandwiches. They also serve alcoholic beverages; had myself a tasty mojito with the meal. Will definitely return
Clean, and tables spaced nicely apart.Went for breakfast, early bird special was a good deal, served until 11am. Corned Beef Hash was very good!Would recommend dining here.
Menu is great. Do not get a drink from them very water down. I had a red sangria it was not red. It was like juice. So mad!!!
Good food with a good friend. Most enjoyable!
Food is always good. Great prices for the portions served.
The food was not good and they were giving us the wrong food the whole time. I asked for fries, they gave me cheese fries. Then when i get the fries it is a seasoned fries when i asked for regular fries. Then the desserts are pretty good but not that good. Would never come here again. This is not a basic american diner experience.
Variety and more quantity with high quality. With all these taste good!!!
Classic diner - great menu and friendly service!
Unfortunate to write this but your customer service has declined since reopening. If you are going to turn customers that supported your business years before the pandemic and during the reopening phases since we arrived at 12:16pm and you stop seating at 12:15 - but will offer take out us take out - your previous business model has diminished. Quite disappointing.
Had the Monte Cristo sandwich. French toast bread was tender but had a nice crunch too. Delicious! Ive never had a bad meal there...
We had a greek salad, quesadilla, ribs, chicken, gyro sandwich and RED VELVET CAKE... everything was incredible. Service was great and the food arrived quickly.
The Edison diner has always been a safe clean professional establishment in which my family and I can enjoy, Thank you Edison diner for being a resource in our community.
Nice, clean Diner and lots of choices for food.
Stolen jewelry!I ate dinner here tonight and left my gift given to me on my seat. I realized I left it 20 min later when I got back to my hotel. When I called back they said it was not found! Seriously?? It had to be taken from the busboy or waitress. I used to come to this diner every time I came to town but now I will never return. I won’t give my business to those that think it’s ok to keep things that don’t belong to them!
I had the french toast, turkey bacon, scrambled eggs, and grits. Pretty simple breakfast and it was good.
Food is always good as well as the staff. The portions are big and the food is always fresh.
Delicious food. Excelent service. We love it. Im looking forward to cone back next weekend.
Food was good.. portion sizes were huge...staff was very attentive and polite.
Food always good, wait staff always nice, pleasant, and on point! Host & Hostess always pleasant, friendly and polite! They all do a good job here! One of my favorite dinners.
Came to edison diner to get an orange juice it was 1050pm and online hours and the sticker on their door mentioned they are open till 11pm but the door was closed when manager pancho came to the door to tell me they are closed I asked them to change the hours online and on their door so people dont drive all the way just find the door closed on their faces. His response was NO POINT TO ARGUE SIR IF THE DOOR IS CLOSED IT MEANS WE ARE CLOSED I understand the kitchen closes early in restaurants but saying bluntly to your customers to leave who drove there is wrong. I only needed a glass of an orange juice since there is no other restaurant that serves fresh squeezed juice in the area so my options were limited. He finally said he will do it for me as a favor which I didnt like so I ended up leaving. Now I will have to go back because its near by and convenient but hopefully they will train their employees a little better in future to treat their customers with respect.
Delicious food and HUGE portions! Definitely going back soon
The breakfast here is amazing. I especially love the bacon. The size of the bacon is so good. Highly recommend.
First time at this place. A lot of choices on menu. Food good. Very polite and friendly personnel.
Great Diner opened for 60 years of which 30 years we have bern a customer and not treated as a customer but as FAMILY.Great to be back after they opened 2 days ago and our 2nd visit. Great food as always, exceptional service, wonderful staff especially the Management. Quality and quantity has never changed. Back indoor dining is a blessing. Recommend to all please visit and you will never regret the experience, food and service. ENJOY.
Best DINER around here.Very Cleaned. They follow all the protocols for covid. The food is excellent. Dinners are better than a lot of restaurants dinners.Good and lots of food. I enjoy every time I go there.
Great food have bee going here since the 80s. Definitely recommend to anyone in the world!
The food was nasty! Don’t go! They denied me plastic silverware but said they do give it to customers that dine out smh.. Silverware was dirty and old this is Covid like come on.. I will never revisit this place ever again!
Clean room, friendly service, large portions. But the salad disappointed us, it seemed to us that the vegetables in it were not fresh enough
Im inpartial to diners, but this diner is consistant, you get your moneys worth as far as portion and flavor.
This place serves a good breakfast. Two large plate sized pancakes, a decent portion of bacon (no a measly 2 strips!), eggs cooked to order, and a side of crispy home fries. They also have other diner standards like sandwiches, wraps, fries, salad bar, soups etc. But when I go to a diner I usually want breakfast, no matter what time of day it is, so Im happy their breakfast menu is anytime. Food portions are generous for the price, though not cheap, especially if you order any seafood. Burgers are well-made to order and the fries are good. Can get crowded on weekend mornings though and the parking lot is small, so sometime youll have to park on the street up and around the corner behind the diner.
I highly recommend this place. The food is very fresh and delicious! I went here tonight last minute. The service was amazing. Wow, I am very surprised with this place and the food! I have had bad experiences in previous diners. I am telling you it was so fresh and tasty! You have to eat here and try it for yourself!
This is an amazing place for breakfast, the food was great, will be going back when in the area.
