Went in 10 minutes before close just to see how nice of a store it is. The place is amazing, the customer service is absolutely top-notch, and they were willing to even sell to me 10 minutes before they close. This is now my butcher shop

Wonderful experience! The butcher was very friendly and helpful in determining what cut to purchase and how much was needed. The shop has the feeling of stepping back in time, a really nice change of pace from the large supermarkets.

They have excellent customer service and fantastic meat and seafood.

Amazing meat quality at great prices. For even cheaper than you could pay at a Snucks or Diebergs, you get high quality tasty meat! The brawtworsts and bacon are to die for! If they dont have a cut you want, they will even take your name and call you when the cut is in. They are beyond friendly and believe me when I say you cannot go wrong going here. A+

If you want to patronize local businesses and get to know your merchants, this is the place for you. I know they have thousands and thousands of very satisfied customers.I believe this is the oldest business in downtown Edwardsville. Perhaps one of the individual lawyers or real estate agents have been there longer, Metcalf Realty for example. Eakers barber shop is a longtime fixture. Ive only been here for 46 years so perhaps others know more about downtown businessesRegarding the reviews of the looks of the place, looks are deceiving. If youre not sure you can find the meat market, look up and see the big steer on the roof. Thats a local landmark.They have the only meat lockers in town. Hundreds of hunters rely on them to render their deer.Regarding the note about the vegetarian restaurant, which I patronize every week, the butcher shop has been there decades longer than those upstarts. That said, Sacred Grounds has lasted longer than any other café/coffee shop in town.

This was the first time I went to this establishment. Ive heard great things but let me tell u rotten meat small portions and very pricey. Will never go back! Market basket and dierbergs is a much better choice. Plus u get more meat. Let me say its poorer than Wal-Mart!
