Updated: 12/3/2019When I received a new block from Boos for 50% off the board they sent was 12 x 18 opposed to the correct size. I notified Boos & they apologized & sent another block of the correct size. Upon opening, the new block was split in a very similar manner as the original block. I again contacted Boos. A third block was sent. I opened to use for Thanksgiving. Upon opening I discovered a tear or something just off center. I have included a photo. At this point I will no longer contacting Boos. While they did try & make good they are simply not capable. I will be considering this a loss & move on. Thus the 1 start rating. I definitely will not be purchasing anything from Boos in the future.Updated: 9/5/2019Boos contacted me and made on offer to assist with the replacement of the board. The offer was fair and reasonable. Because of this action, I will continue to purchase Boos products. As a result, I have upgraded my rating.I have an experience that is consistent with the reviews of their customer service. With limited use & storage in an air conditioned home the block was well taken care. But after about 4 uses in the last 2 years I pulled the block for use & found 2 of the seams were split. The block has always been oiled & waxed using Boos mystery oil & board cream. never in the dish washer, never left to soak in water, etc., etc. The board is like new with the exception of the split seams. To make matters worse the piece in between the splits has a knot which may have contributed to the failure. Either that or it was a manufacturing defect when bonding the pieces. This has never happened with ANY board I own or have owned. I can tell you I coddled the Boos board much more than any of the others.Without even seeing a picture or having any discussion their immediate response was to denied any assistance. With the splits there are sanitary issues where the board cannot be properly cleaned.Be well warned to steer clear of Boos blocks. Their customer service is arrogant & dismissive. To have a top of the line product you must have top of the line support. (Photos attached)

I purchased a $900 butcher block table March 2017. When I received it, I diligently applied Bios butter and mineral oil every week for 4 weeks, and every 2 weeks after that. I noticed cracking on the block November 2017 and contacted Boos. I was advised by a customer service rep to oil the block every 2 weeks and if the block didnt swell back up to contact Boos again in May 2018. I did just that and for 3 weeks I have been trying to get a straight answer about how this is going to be resolved. I was told the block is being replaced but no one will send an email to confirm the resolution, when the product will ship, how to donate the old block, etc. I expected better service from this company. Maybe $900 is a small order to Boos but it was a big order for me and I deserve better service and an uncracked block.

I contacted the Boos & Company with a simple technical question.I was refurbishing a PCA3 (24x24x10) stand alone butcher block.I had a quick question on fixing some loose legs.Sent an email to them at 7:30 PM (after close of business) on 05/28/2020Surprisingly (I do not expect much any more) I received a reply with ananswer to my question (a PDF file) the next day at 2:30 PM(I am not sure what took them so long) THAT IS A JOKE!Not only did Tara Spraker answer my question, she offered to send mea set of wedges that were missing from my block at no charge. Our emails back and forth gave me new hope that actual customerservice is alive and well in this country. I can tell from her replies thatshe is a caring and genuine treasure. THIS GAL IS A KEEPER.I generally do not post reviews, unless the service is extremely terribleor outstanding, guess which one this is.Thanks again, TaraBill Rigsby

Find another board. A brand new board developed a major crack 4 months after purchasing it. I contacted Boos, and they refused to address the issue. They actually went so far as to attempt to blame me for not properly caring (I know how to maintain a cutting board). They lost a customer for life.

John Boos products are very expensive and are supposed to be very nice. I ordered an island with a solid wooden top for nearly $500 bucks. It arrived with 3 heavy duty staples embedded in the wooden top. We called John Boos direct and they refused to return the top and send a new one. What is up with that? They are not going to stand behind their workmanship!!-------------FYI: On top of the staple issue, the table began to fall apart. The rails separated from each other and the $500 dollar table is a complete loss after only 6 months. We followed the maintenance instructions to a T and this still happened. We tried to claim a warranty and never got the table that we originally ordered. We dealt with Gail Kraft, Customer service. Rudest person ever GAIL KRAFT is. Do not purchase anything from Boos unless you plan to trash it after it falls apart after 6 months. And most definitely do not expect to have your issue or warranty resolved by Ms. GAIL KRAFT, customer service rep.
