This store is great, always very efficient and not too busy. Came for routine oil change, was easy to schedule and plenty of availability. Unlike the other store neaby they have great waiting area, and it was Olympics on which was nice to watch while waiting for the car. They also inspeced my breaks without additional charge. Definitely highly recommended.

Had an oil change at 12 showed up at twelve told me it was going to be 2 hours for a 30 minute oil change.... side note I told the employees there was a used syringe on the floor they said cool thanks????

They have a huge assortment of tools and supplies. I was looking for a lowerable 2 rear hitch so that I could carry a metal carrier and still open my rear door over it. Looked all over town and no one had one except Pep Boys. Heres why they are 5 stars:I tried to pay for it with an old $50 Visa Debit Card. It was declined. The young clerk said it showed that it had a Zero balance.I said thats funny, I dont remember having used it.I paid cash for the item and tossed the card into the trash can and left.I drove off and almost immediately got a call from him that he didnt feel good about it so he researched it a bit further.Turns out that it was declined because it was never registered. It still had a $50 balance.To make a long story short, Im still richer after his generous tip. His research and honesty are comendable.

Placed and paid order online. Website said store closes at 6pm. Received order ready for pickup notice at 1:50pm. Arrived at store at 5pm. Doors were locked. Knocked and gave order to cashier Matt and told him the website said they closed at 6pm. 3 customers were in the store. Matt said manager would not allow my pickup. I asked to speak with the manager and said I would not have placed the order if the website had said they closed at 5pm. Matt went and talked to the manager and said he wasnt allowed to use the register for any additional customers. I explained that the order was a prepaid pickup and asked to speak with the manager. Matt said the manager would not speak with me. I asked for the managers name. Matt said the manager said he was not allowed to give me the managers name. This back and forth continued for 25 minutes while the other customers selected their purchases, checked out, and left the store.Since this was a prepaid pickup, this treatment was unacceptable. Plus, the manager not allowing Matt to tell me his name, seriously? I would recommend placing your orders for pickup from another store. Extra note: When I arrived there was another customer outside installing headlight bulbs he had just purchased minutes before. He realized they were the incorrect bulbs when I arrived and asked the cashier Matt at the door if he could swap them for the correct ones. Matt checked with the manager and was told no. The customer asked if he could please swap them since it was now dark and he had no working headlights to drive home. Once again the manager told Matt to tell him no. This is not the friendly service I am used to receiving at other Pep Boys stores over the past 30 years.

Prior to bringing my car for the repair to this location I knew already what was the problem to my surprise I was not charge for the diagnostic due to my gas tank was full, when I read the result i knew it already, my point here is the Mechanic who diagnosed my truck was a honest person. Now a days it’s hard to find some honest mechanic. I highly recommend this place and ask for MR. RUI R he is a very honest Mechanic.END OF DISCUSSIONS!

Brought my f250 in Saturday for balance, rotation and small 80psi normal now 40psi. leak. Tires had 2000 miles. This will be 3rd time for balance, Jamacha $1000,00 purchase, Flagstaff at 600 miles noe Jamacha at 2000 miles. They supposedly did the service and balanced the tires without removing stick on weights....hmmmm? I checked the tire pressure 18 hrs later....60, 75. 70 and 72psi.. All supposed to be at 80psi. Upon calling Jamacha location they said must be a cracked wheel...(all 4... right!). And we set all pressures at 41psi.These guys are scary.....hope I make it home to yuma

Told 2 hours wait to change a tire. Over 3 hours and counting

I took my car in for an alignment today and they were unable to perform the service due to the new type of alignment machine (my car is lowered on coilovers). When I went to pick up my car, I noticed the side skirt on the drivers side of my car was hanging off. I brought it to the attention of an employee who basically told be they didnt have 5 minutes to fix what they did. Youre telling me that one of youre technicians messed my car up and youre not going to fix it? Im done dealing with pep boys and their bs. Take your business elsewhere. Nothing but bad experiences at every location Ive been to!

Went in to buy some Rain x. Found it in 3 locations in the store. One was priced at $1.90 per bottle. At check out it came our 3 or 4 dollars. Showed the sales man and was told sorry! Dont know how this happenedThis the 2th time I have had this happen at Pep Boys

Your tire service is the terrible. It took me three trips to get a spare tire replaced on a wheel that I carried in. I dropped it off in the afternoon being told it would be ready for pickup in the morning,,,, only to be told Ill get one of my guys on it Ill call you when its ready thats bad service any time especially during the covid pandemic. I am never stepping in that store again. P.s check out my reward points to look at the dollars going to another auto parts store..

Expensive, but even though they are located in El Cajon City, the employees all seemed to wear their masks correctly, and, (unrelated to their location) are friendly and helpful.

My alternator went out on me. I stopped in and the staff was helpful diagnosing the problem and getting me a new alternator. Great people to work with.

Been a loyal customer for over 25 years, had such great customer service, but now customer service no longer exist here at Pep Boys El Cajon, CA . Instead no hello instead its YOU NEED A MASK! the woman or man i cant tell anyways ALWAYS has a attitude, doesnt even know how to find the correct parts, the service manager is completely rude and lazy, doesnt wanna seem to wanna stand or help. The store was closed/locked up the day I went here and it wasnt even 6 PM yet. I ended up having to drive to Autozone to buy what I needed.

I made a 9am appointment for an oil change and showed up a couple minutes late. The guys were super nice and honest that it may be a little longer than 30 minutes, but they got my car done in about 45. Really nice people and good service!

Great employees. Always enjoying myself visiting and finding some cool stuff. Also I have a friend that works there so making new friends with your employees is a plus.

There was a miscommunication. The Rep from the maintenance dept. said that they could give my car an oil change on a walk in basis, but the time was only good within the hour. I showed up to Pepboys within 30 minutes and stood there waiting for an employee to notice me. (yes. it did look very sad.) It almost felt like the other employees were avoiding helping me because I wasnt on their auto parts turf.Instead, I waited in the seating area while two new customers waltzed themselves to the Service desk (to which the Rep seemed to finally respond). I was let in front by a kind gentleman that saw me waiting before he came in.However, it was wasted. I was later informed that the employee meant that they could only use the current hour (I called at 11:15am) to work on my car. This meant I had to bring my car at that instant, if I wanted to have the work done. Now, I would now have to leave my car for 1...2...or more... hours if I wanted the oil changed.I was disappointed because I waited there quiet & patiently, only to be told that my car would have to be pushed to the END.I have been a customer at this location for only a few years, and was always put off by the lack of courtesy. No apology or form of reconciliation was even attempted for the misunderstanding. Not that they were at fault, but there is just a clear lack of CUSTOMER CARE.

It is Pep Boys. My visit was neither negative or so positive it required my singing their praises.I suppose a minor bit of useful info, it is a large size Pep boys with an operating auto repair center. Aside from that it is certainly what one would expect from a visit to Pep Boys.

I was impressed by Isabel at the El Cajon store on Sunday 1 HR before they closed.Great customer service and she was cashier and parts. Great Job!

So tired of lazy service. I want my car checked bumper to bumper. Engine pressure, electronics. Is the oil look good? Is there signs of shady work? Stuck like that. Walked out unsatisfied. The guy just didn’t seem interested in helping. Done with this store. Customer service sure has been left behind.

Cheaper to service my 2012 Buick Enclave here than at dealership. Usually great/fast service. This last visit was different. I live 50 miles from this Pep Boys store & am glad I didnt take off for home 50 miles away bf trying my windshield wipers first. Both were still shredded - the tech forgot to change them.

Just asked to borrow a jack to replace my own water pump in my car explain to them I live two doors down from their business and Im willing to leave a deposit my ID social security card anything it would like to loan me a Jack and what do they say as a neighbor no you guessed it no. Lame staff!

They gave me a detailed free car inspection I was concerned about my tires and they answered all my questions. I was so impressed I ended up getting an oil change and they had a $20 off coupon that was great thank you for your excellent service and for saving me money and not pressuring me into getting new tires I will be coming back.

This place offers excellent service. Since I came here to get my battery checked, I havent gone anywhere else for car service. One time I had a nail in my tire which was causing it to lose air very quickly, so I took it off myself and brought it there to show them, and they just plugged it for free! I didnt even buy a plugging kit :)

Please save yourself the time and hassle and stress and do not come here for car service. I took my car in for brakes service and went back about 5 times for them to do it right. My brakes squeaked and was grinding after they supposedly replaced the rotors and pads. They are young technicians who have no idea how to work on the brakes. They tried to charge me for labor again on a job they did not do right the first time and even though your service may still fall under warranty they will charge for the labor to fix it. I walked out paying for brakes and rotors that cost me $500 plus which is about the same at a dealership . The only difference is that the dealership knows what their doing and the parts are original. Anyway I got my brakes done in Feb and its May and when I got my dealership to inspect my brakes they said it was already low and time to replace the fronts. After three months ? They ripped me off. I went back to pepboys as it is under warranty and they want to charge me $129 for labor! What a bad way to do service! Im going to report them to the BBB. Now I have to get my front brakes replaced but not with them, the dealership is charging me $199 with labor and I know my car will be in good hands! Please do not come here they will ruin your car !

Aproaching the building is easy! As always, plenty of parking and stalls to handle business, plus it helped I made an online appointment. First time here and service was not just nice, but informative, personal and I didnt feel rushed or slow because I dont know much about cars. Overall experience was nice and convenient!

After the competition just down the road couldnt/wouldnt honor my appointment last Sunday (with the Were too busy for your appointment ... sorry but you are SOL routine), I brought my car here for tires, alignment. My appointment was at 10 AM and my car was in the bay at 10:10 . Erwin worked on my vehicle and was superb with his work and customer service skills. My expectations were well exceeded. This place ROCKS.

Service was good, prices reasonable, only reason for my low score is that car was not ready at the time I was told. Had to wait an extra 1 1/2 hour at the store.

Absolutely the worst employee service and company policies. I will no longer go to a pep boys or support there business. They dont not guarantee a warranty. And the managment needs a serious revision on training BIG TIME. Since they have No Clue what warranties mean. A written guarantee, issued to the purchaser of an item by the manufacturer, promising to repair or replace it if necessary within a specified period of time. Go else where for automotive goods and Never use the Service department. They are worthless.

Appointment at 12pm I was there at 11:55. They took my keys and told me should be ready soon. I went out and came back at 1:42pm and they didn’t even start on the car and told me they forgot about it and that they were going to start now. Don’t come to this location. Waste of time, horrible service and expensive.

It has an old-school Flair to it and they have a lot of stuff that you need for your car and I actually found a light for my motorcycle there very helpful customer service and I liked the visit

Went to get an alignment for my car everything went smooth, got the lifetime so Ill be able to get it done every year no charge.

They are not always upfront they dont rotate tires with oil changes or give you a reaason why they didnt

Used this location twice. First time they installed a faulty alternator. After a misdiagnosis and installing unneeded parts. A third visit was required to install a nonfaulty alternator. My second service was having my struts replaced. It took Sunday until Friday to get the parts and install. I was told they were being overnighted to the store on Sunday. Furthermore they messed up my brakes reassembling, whicj required me bringing the car back. Save yourself the time and hassle and go anywhere else. The worst mechanics Ive ever used.
