When you first meet Steve the owner, he comes across very friendly and knowledgeable. He replaced all my batteries for approximately $1600. After doing some research I have found comparable batteries for around $1000. Live and learn. In January Steve replaced the brake master cylinder on my GEM and replaced the battery charger with a used Scott charger for $976. In February he replaced both rear brake assemblies for $1005. In June I called and told him the charger quit working. He said he only gives 90 days on parts and labor but he would replace the charger. He picked up the cart and replaced the charger, he charged me $75 to pick up the cart and $75 the charge the batteries (which I did not authorize). The second charger has never worked! At that time I also told him the cart was pulling to the left when I stepped on the brake, I thought that the brake lines were not properly bled. He said it was past the 90 day warranty and he would charge me $75 to pick it up and $75 hr. to investigate the brake problem. I declined and bled the brakes myself and found air in the lines. The brakes now work fine. I have looked on all my receipts and nowhere is there a 90 day parts and labor written on them. I guess that is to be assumed. Since the second charger was installed I’ve called him and texted him numerous times and he simply refuses to respond. If you are looking for a reliable business to take care of your golf cart needs, you should look anywhere but Safeway Golf Carts.
I came to visit my parents and noticed my fathers golf cart had bald tires. I went to Safeway golf cars and Steve was very polite and helpful. Steve brought out four tires and gave them to me at no charge. Steve was very genuine and trustworthy and would recommend his shop to anyone needing work done on their cars.
I contacted Steve (the owner) to work on my custom golf cart. Steve was very familiar with my cart and I enjoyed initially meeting with him. Steve replaced all of the batteries in my cart (8 6-volt batteries) but used a inferior battery brand. In total, I paid $1400. The cart runs better and if it was just the batteries- which other techs have since quoted me $700 for the same batteries, I probably would not take the time to write this review. What upset me is upon the return or the cart, both the reverse and the headlights did not work. After 3 weeks, Steve finally returned my calls and came to see the cart. I suspected all along that the headlight switch was disconnected during the work and it would be a simple fix-- however, there was not way this could be and instead of simply looking under the hood- we needed to replace the headlights and give up the cart for another two weeks. In the end, I was able to fix the reverse by simply tightening the wire connection (3 seconds) and the switch was simply disconnected and took 2 minutes to reconnect by another company. I never write reviews but this did upset me given the amount of time it took out of my life.
After paying Steve close to $4000.00 for repairs on my golf cart, which included 4 new tires, I experienced a slow leak in one of the tires after a few months. I called Steve 3 times, each time he would say Ill call you beginning of next eeek and pick it up. The last conversation we had he said I have to find the paperwork in the tires. Who the hell cares? I just needed it fixed! Needless to say, I never heard from him. I ended up pulling the tire myself and taking it to S&S Tire, they fixed it for $16.00. A bad bead, which is what I suspected. Nice way to treat someone who payed you that kind of money.
