I love this lil mom n pop restaurant. The foods good, and the restaurant is super clean and neat. It has a very cool vintage vibe. The only downfall is the service is extremely slow but the owner has a great personality and therefore, its downfall is almost forgiving. I recommend it if you arent in a rush. On the plus side, its got a cool little bar with a jukebox n all!
I love the Jolly jug... Their beef eater is so delicious and humongous that we normally have to share between two of us!! And the staff is so friendly and so welcoming, just enjoyable to go have lunch there with a friend
The food was good. They are famous for their beef dips and pastrami dips, and my mom and I both went for the pastrami, which was great! I wish there had been more to the kids meal than just chicken fingers and fries. There should be a vegetable or fruit in there as well... but thats something many places struggle with these days.

Food and cocktails delish . I wish they gave a bit more fries . Been twice in the last two months and both times very minimal fries .went recently for a take out and my roll was burned on top..

It is a great diner. My family enjoyed it very much. I was impressed that the manager herself attended us the whole time. She told us that she has been open for 72 years. I could see why with the wonderful service and amazing food. Would definitely bring my family back to this diner.

Dont let the exterior put you off trying this place. Exactly what we had hoped for and more. Bar on one side, coffee shop on the other. Bloody Mary for breakfast no problem. Coffee excellent, food delicious and affordable, service friendly and prompt. Its a trip, homage to the old and blending of the new. Americana, Mexico, Europe and Asia all represented in the decor.

We enjoy going out. Last night we came to this fine place which friends told us about. We had a delightful time there with high-qulity cooking and a courteous crew and an impressive cook. We put this fine restaurant in our list and we shall no doubt come back soon. We deeply recommend.
Beef dip is good food
We were on our way to a memorial service and decided to come here for breakfast. It was a older establishment. We were greeted by a very enthusiastic hostess. The place was empty but this did not detract us from eating here. It was on a weekday probably after the morning crowd. We had the usual breakfast - eggs, bacon, french toast, hash browns and coffee. We were told no salt was added and that was just fine. Food was good and served quickly. The hostess was very proud of the restaurant and the customers that still came by even after moving away. We will come back for the notable pastrami it is known for.

It is simply the best beef dip this side of LA. Jolly Jugs signature Gravy is so delicious and makes it unique. Philipes in LA is different and may be just a notch better snd but lighter on the pocket book but its in LA and locally Jolly Jug is the best and easily in the top 5 in the Los Angeles area. Philipes, The Jolly Jug, Clearmans prime dip (North Woods Inn), Houstons prime Rib Dip (Pasadena)...Coles is a distant 5th. Margaret the owner is great and funny and Simon the bartending serves up smiles and these great dips (oh yeah try the pastrami too).
Stopped by this establishment for dinner tonight while visiting relatives in the area. The four of us enjoyed our beef dips, corned beef dips, and pastrami sandwich. The sandwiches and coleslaw were quite tasty. Our server and owner Margaret was friendly and offered many menu suggestions. Look forward to our next visit.

First and last time here. Went to breakfast with my friend and the place was empty,we waited at least 15 minutes for the Lady/Owner to come ask us what we wanted to drink then another 15 minutes to get our drinks and take our order. Portions are small and the Table beside us was dirty with dishes when we arrived and still there when we left. The lady was telling us that Famous People from all around the world go there to eat?? I dont understand why. Food wasnt that great, Ive had better. Finished up and when we went to pay the bill,we noticed a cut lemon beside a stack of dirty dishes on the counter where the orders are picked up. I told the lady maybe you need a dishwasher,looks like your dishes are piling up where there not suppose too. Her cart she pushes to deliver food with her cleaning bucket was left in the aisle infront of a table where people just sat down. Totally unsanitary.
This is an old fashioned restaurant but the food is good. Tonight they had a meatloaf special that my friend ordered and liked. My wife always has the beef dip with extra gravy ( gravy is ridiculously good) and I had an open faced pork sandwich which I have been ordering lately. It is very good. The sandwich is very simple, meat of your choice ( I like the corned beef) on a crispy roll with gravy, thats it. It is messy and delicious.

We have been coming here for years and even have them cater our tailgates and Mexican Train events. No order is too big or too small and is always met with a smile and a thank you! The dip sauce is more on the thicker side of consistency and very tasty! Indulge in the coleslaw if thats your fancy you will like it. Pricing is low to mid range...some higher priced items are on the menu as well. And there is variety to choose from. Dined at about mid afternoon 330 4pm. Only two persons on duty and one was two timing it from bar to dinning. Sparse crowd as well. Restrooms clean but very out dated. Wa t to go again to try more of the menu several sandwhiches to choose from.Nice quaint dining area feels down home. Especially on this rainy afternoon. Go check them out youll be back!!
I had to work out in the area of this establishment. It was very convenient so I decided to check it out. It is a very nice and quaint neighborhood bar. The patrons were friendly, the staff was friendly and accommodating. I rarely get to the Buffalo area but am a big fan of beef on weck. Sure enough they had that on their menu for $4.25! While it wasnt as good as Charlie The Butchers but for the price it was a great value. I observed the preparation of this and saw how this was prepared wearing gloves, Etc. There are multiple TVs, a pool table. There are no big Glitzi signs to even acknowledge its presence. Its a great little Hideaway.

This place is a hidden gem. Very small and out of the way. There is a full bar on one side and a restaurant on the other. It is owned by the cutest lady who comes by to make sure you love the place as much as she does. Their food is homemade and delicious. I suggest the Mimi: corned beef, coleslaw, and cheese on an onion roll. Delicious.

My family has been coming here for the past 55yrs. They dont make their own pickles like they did when I was young, but they have them made now and they are as good as I remember. The tables could be cleaned better and fix the loose table tops, but all in all it is still a good place to come to. They have been here for about 77yrs.

Our journey to experience LAs oldest restaurants continues with a visit to El Montes The Jolly Jug! Theyve been there since 1946! We very much enjoyed the charming old-school ambience from the amazing sign to the round booths! The woman who ran the place was SUPER friendly and welcoming! I loved how she took pride in being around for so many years! She asked if wed been there before and when we said that this was our first time, she told us how they have been around for 71 years (72 at this point I believe) and showed us menu highlights and favorites! I love this! I cant tell you how many of these old historic restaurants I go in and there is no mention of it... in fact, I sometimes have to tell the staff how old it is and they are surprised! So it was wonderful to meet someone who was so prideful of their history.The food was good. They are famous for their beef dips and pastrami dips, and my wife and I both went for the pastrami, which was great! I wish there had been more to the kids meal than just chicken fingers and fries. Ive been eating here for over 20 years. Its gone down in quality in the last few years. Margaret is getting niggardly now. After getting my beer order wrong she refused to take it back. Then after I tasted it and my friend tasted his we knew at once the lines hadnt been cleaned in a while. I dont see as to why, the beer man flushes them when he delivers the new kegs. Then I didnt get coleslaw cause she said she didnt want to do dishes. I used my fingers since she took the silverware too. The bread on our sandwiches were stale as well.
