I had been interested in a Trek Roscoe 7 bicycle for a little while after learning about it. I wanted to pay extra for a non-Amazon cycle backed by local expert knowledge, sometimes paying more is worth it. After some scouring from the Trek website, they listed this bike shop as having two sizes potentially available and I called to confirm and Yan took a $400 credit hold to save the bike. They got really busy but Jeff responded to my email message and I drove to the location with my younger kid a little later. Kelsey reviewed what I was interested in and I settled with the ML Roscoe 7 with the light blue color and the bike was even made in Vietnam. I like how Trek has several manufacturing global locations and not just China. I have concerns about this economic race to the bottom that is happening in the USA, but thats all I will say on that topic. My kid picked out a few accessories and the inventory appeared plentiful unlike some other bike shops I had been to in other cities. Everyone I encountered including the guy assembling my bike (Ron), seemed to be deeply informed on their products which was great. In the end, thanks to Jeff being assertive, I ended up buying the bike and I am looking forward to future interactions with Jeffs team as my cycling needs require. Great!
Great customer service 👏🏾👌🏾👍🏽! They educated me about so much from various price points and I test rode 4 hybrid bikes. Im very satisfied with my choice and Ill be back for any other needs I may have in the future. They even helped me setup my bike rack on my car. Thanks guys 😊 I highly recommend this shop! They have everything 🚴🏾♀️🚴🏾♀️🚴🏾♀️
Very knowledgeable, friendly, attentive staff. I feel very confident in asking any question or going to this bike shop for help. Very competitively priced bikes. I got an entry-level, and Im happy not to have paid an arm and a leg.
Monday 10/4/21, I have been searching for a new specialized stump jumper for a while but they have been sold out everywhere. My last bike purchase was in 2001 and the service was just as good as back then. I arrived there at 5:30 and they stayed late getting me all set, cut length off the handle bars, installed cup holders, and even offered to install the slime tubes I purchased even though it was already 15 minutes after closing. I live in Fairfield now but the Pedaler Bike Shop is worth the drive! Thank you guys!
Great local bike shop. Knowledgeable, friendly and well stocked. We have purchased two bikes with satisfaction and come here for all of our gear and maintenance needs.
I had a big new gash open in a tire, and happened to be riding about 2 miles away with friends. We headed there to see if we could buy a tire, and the staff were so accommodating they not only opened the store 1/2 hour early for us, but had the new tires mounted and installed in 15 minutes. My riding day was saved, and I got a set of nice new tires (which I needed), my favorite brand, as a reasonable price. I would definitely drive out of my way to come here again.
The peddler is the first bike shop I turn to for my bike needs. If they don’t have a part or accessory (which is not often) only then would I go anywhere else. These guys have earned my business through great customer service, how all business should earn customer trust. They are dedicated to the community and their customers.
Update:Owner called and we had a really great conversation. He was open, listened to me, and gave his thoughts on my experience in a respectful way. I really appreciated that.***********Just moved into the area and always buy from the closest local bike shop. They have a good selection and a cool space.Unfortunately I came in to just browse and was greeted with the most aggressive sales pitch I have ever encountered outside of a car lot. I guess my expectation may be different than others, but I am used to no pressure, laid back, extremely knowledgeable folks. This was not that.I really did want to get my daughter a bike so I caved in only to be bombarded with all the accessories and warranty options in the sales pitch. All my leading questions were obviously to get me to buy more.I get it, you need to sell to stay in business. Even enquired about a hard tail which I said I wanted to wait on, and was pushed to put a down payment as stock was low. That was the final straw for me.After I get my one free tune up, its unlikely I will be shopping here again. I did answer a survey and left my information but I was not contacted after giving feedback which ultimately led me to leave this review.
Very nice store well organize and cleanthe personal polite and attentivethe service fast and excellentI will be back for any problem with my bikes
So locally.. These guys are great. They have, get & do the best thats available now. Friendly, speedy service, good advice.
Awesome friendly efficient service. My go-to bike store in the Bay Area. Jeff Jerge is deity among bike-store owners and has a great sense of humor.
Excellent service and knowlegeable staff! They have a good assortment of ebikes and regular bikes. Each person on the staff was very friendly and eager to help.
Shopped here for a bike this weekend and had a great experience. Colin was fantastic - knowledgeable, helpful, and let us move at our own pace while testing things out. We came in knowing what models we wanted to try and he helped us do that, answered our questions, and asked us a few more about what we wanted to be able to do with our bikes, etc. He went above and beyond to help us at numerous points, including diving deep into their upcoming deliveries to see if the version we wanted would be coming in any time soon. Other staff seemed similarly helpful (and Ive received good help on the phone), though we only worked with Colin in person. Well be needing a few accessories soon and will be going back!
I made my purchase back in June but forgot to review the store until now. They have a great selection, and its hard not to find a bike or accessories youll be interested in.I want to personally thank Will who assisted with my bike purchase, finding a helmet that fits, and also attaching my water bottle holder to the bike before it even left the shop, as well as doing a last minute checkup. Not only did Will do this efficiently, he is also very personable and friendly. My boyfriend has been coming here for years and he always recommends it, and Ive come to love it too. Check it out!
Great bike store. Friendly knowledgable staff that do out of their way to help you. Well worth the 15 miles I traveled to shop there.
Excellent help choosing appropriate bicycles for myself and my grandson. Salesperson was knowledgeable, courteous, and professional. Very pleased with our purchases.Best place to buy and service your bicycle!
One of the best run And knowledgeable shops I have ever been to I have been shopping here for close to 20 years.
Love going to this place, knowledgeable staff and friendly. Anything you need for your bike they have it or will get it for you. They can do any small jobs to big jobs just so you can get out there and enjoy a bike ride.
Great service from start to finish. I had to wait several months for my bike to finally come in due to the mad rush of everyone buying bikes during the pandemic. I am thrilled to finally get my Electra Townie. It was well worth the wait. The staff is very knowledgeable about the bikes they sell and I highly recommend the store for your bike needs.
Amazing customer service and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Ron took care of me and my family, without any rush. I will definitely be back!
I had a wonderful experience. The staff was extremely helpful. They did not try to rush me into purchasing a bike. They allowed me to make an informed decision. I really appreciate the time and effort they took and the valuable information they gave me. Thanks again!!!
I finally bought my dream helmet I’ve been eyeing for 3 years! I first found it at the Ped in 2019. It was such a new product that practically no local bike shop or chain store had it, but of course the Ped did. Whoever is the store’s buyer is totally on top of all the bicycle industry trends and ensures that the newest products are in house immediately. If they don’t, they’ll order it for you. If it’s back ordered, the staff will be transparent if the order will be a long wait.I tried it out in store and took my time examining the “wave cell” technology. Jeff, owner and mountain bike extraordinaire, patiently answered all my questions and more. I didn’t buy the helmet that day, and never felt pressured to buy it. I waited 3 years because it’s expensive and I wanted to read reviews and get options from others who purchased it. I finally chose to buy it a week ago, and I’m still as giddy as a little kid. Thanks Jeff and the entire Ped team for being so accommodating and allowing me to ogle your impressive bicycle collection.Support your local bike shop and visit the Ped. You won’t be disappointed.
Pedaler Bike Shop provided excellent service to me. Kelseys assistance was courteous and excellent. I want to tell all of my friends about this product.
They had the bikes that we wanted. Ordered online and everything went smoothly!
The Pedaler has been my go-to bike place for Years! Great staff, always honest, efficient and welcoming in a down-to-earth shop. Plus great parking and Cafe Soleil down the street makes them the best bike shop ever! So much so that I drove from Oakland to bring my new-used bike in for a Pedaler seal of approval.
Im going to make this short because it is taking time away from enjoying my new bike: Great experience, service was great, got all my questions answered, highly recommend.
Knowledgible and friendly people who know bikes. give them a look. It is a well supplied shop.
Calvin helped me resolve a posture issue on my mountain bike. (I had thought i was and issue of raising the handle bars, but he figured out a better solution I had not though about.) He fitted me for an appropriate size saddle, installed it, then watched and evaluated my posture while i was riding, then adjusted it to an optimal position. Thank you, Calvin!
First time coming to this store. People are very helpful and friendly.
I have bought 4 bikes from this shop and every time I’ve been pleased. I need many modifications to my bikes due to arthritis and they have created out-of-the-box solutions so I can continue to ride comfortably. The selection of bikes, service, and staff are the best!
Was out of town and got a flat, serviced me same day and pointed out a bunch of things I’ve neglected. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Support this local bike shop!
Great, reliable shop. LOVE my new bike!
I chose The Pedaler Bike Shop in El Sobrante because they have a very wide selection of bikes and sizes to choose from. I was allowed, and encouraged, to try out several different bikes and, based on my comments, was recommend others to ride. I felt like I tried on every shoe in the store. Everyone was SO patient with me. Ron was particularly helpful, I felt like I was part of his family, like he was giving advice to his sister. Thank you, Ron! This shop is one-hours drive for me through over-caffeinated Bay Area traffic. After I learned about this shop I discovered one that sells Treks 15 minutes away. I called both stores to get a sense of my options and based on the flexibility (lack of attachment to the outcome), positive attitude (I want this to work for you and me) and can-do spirit (yeah, we can do that for you, no problem) of the manager, Yan, I chose to drive to El Sobrante and am so glad I did!
Ive been going to the Pedaler for years and get treated the same whether Im spending hundreds of dollars or spending a couple of bucks. The staff is always helpful and courteous. Never had a bad experience...
Courteous, Professional, Knowledgeable and very helpful. Will not hesitate to shop again at this store or recommend to near and dear.
Excellent shop and service. They went beyond the minimum and made my experience superb. Keep it up guys.
Great place for all your cycle needs in the East Bay. Staff is awesome, friendly, and very knowledgeable in all things cycling--they can even tell you which Bay Area trails would be best suited for you and your bike. Highly recommend.
I invested in a Trek bike from The Pedaler Bike Shop last month, and already I’ve made short and long-term gains beyond expectation! This new favorite pastime provides the perfect cardio-fitness alternative apropos of closed gyms, and already I’ve noticed thicker thighs and plumper buttocks, as evidenced by morning soreness, and self-inspection before my bathroom looking glass. My spirits have also heightened beyond their normal peak in lieu of walks, jogs, and views of dogs, through San Francisco neighborhoods and parks ‘tween midday and sunset. With my rugged commuter/mountain bike hybrid, I’ve discovered trails in the Presidio’s natural landscape that I later learned had been fortified by New Spain circa 1776, eventually passed to Mexico, and in turn, ultimately passed to the USA in 1848. And though this newfound knowledge of the city I’ve been native to since birth, stumbled upon only by impromptu bike-strolling voyages, excites my anticipation for what else I’ll discover, the eucalyptus tree-lined mountain bike trails amidst Twin Peaks, hitherto, thrill me with the adrenaline rush I now fear may develop into an addiction. It’s amazing how vistas of, and travels along, the Pacific, Golden Gate Park, and peninsula skyscrapers -- all viewable atop a single summit -- can impress not only body and mind, but soul. Oh Nature, antidepressant art thy name!Indeed my bike odyssey would only figment my imagination were it not for the incredible staff and expertise of The Pedaler -- A fine establishment of quality and taste. Their bike brand selections are of the highest American standard, and at an affordable price no less. I may be forgetting names, but Jeff, Will, Chris, Kelsey, and a young man who assembled my bike, answered all my inquiries with detail and demonstration, ultimately informing me how to properly care for my thrill-inducing, landscape-discovering, eye-catching, thigh-thickening, butt-plumping purchase. Oh, and don’t forget your free tune up :).
The staff is knowledgable and helpful, and the customer service is great!
Unfortunately i have given multiple chances to this place. The pandemic is not an excuse to deny basic customer service. I have come the shop 3 times on the last two months just for a BIKE BUMP. I wait outside so long WITHOUT BEING ACKNOWLEDGED AT ALL. Employees walk past you helping people purchasing bikes without a single word. You just get ignored until they have the time. I just end up leaving. I have shopped many places that established social distancing rules.. they ALWAYS address their customers. They say hello. “It May be awhile” or “just a moment please”. Here you get NOTHING. Again I am understanding and keep coming back but am so disappointed in never being acknowledged. All I needed was a dang pump. Smh you shouldn’t have to wait behind bike shoppers to purchase basic items. Glad they have a great inventory..
Great staff! I live in the Phoenix area and am working in Richmond temporarily. Found The Pedaler online and came in earlier last week to buy some chain lube and a couple of t-shirts. Then Sunday my bike was making a super annoying noise on a ride, so I brought it in for Ron to have a listen. Turns out I hadnt tightened the rear wheel enough while putting it back together after packing on an airplane. Ron fixed it bare handed and didnt even make fun of me :-) Thanks Guys!
The Pedaler offers great customer service, and I always enjoy seeing the beautiful native plant garden at the store!Kathy KramerCoordinator, Bringing Back the Natives Garden Tour
First time buying a bike at this shop and they did not disappoint. They sell good quality and ready to go bikes. Customers service is great and will definitely comeback and recommend this shop.
The Peddler is great! I broke my carbon frame and with the bike shortage due to covid I was having difficulty finding a replacement. The Peddler got me a warranty replacement with total replacement and build costs below the cost of repairing the frame. The Peddler willbe my local bike shop going forward.
They were so kind! Went in for a back rack for my bike and they were so helpful on what would be best
Great customer service. The helped me find the right parts to repair my bike. I also appreciate the social distancing in the store and everyones patience outside.
These guys know their stuff when it comes to bikes and carry a good inventory of bikes across all ranges of riding style. And they managed to have the only stock of the bike I wanted in literally the whole Bay Area! (Trust me I searched for hours!).
Good deals! Great guys! Excellent service!
Great customer service. Knowledgeable staff. Fast service. Would recommend to any interested in cycling.
The service here is so great. Everyone is so nice and friendly, and very welcoming at the shop. Additionally, the team works so quickly; I placed an order close to midnight and called the following morning to understand how pickup would work, and was told I might have to wait 1-2 days after placing an order for a new bike (which was completely fine with me). To my surprise, they called only a few hours later that same day to tell me that my bike was ready. I wish I had known about this place sooner!
I really like the skilled, professional and personally focused service at this bike shop. Many bike shops have an off putting culture but this bike shop has a really respectful culture, whether youre riding a super high-end bike, or the old clunker from the back of the closet. Ive been a regular at the Peddler for about 15 years and I have recommended it to many people and continue to do so. Im a daily bike commuter and they keep me on my wheels.
The selection and staff are great. The bike worker helped us buy a bike. Love his insight of the bikes. And he met our needs. And we bought a bike.
Been a customer for 30 years! Best bike shop in the east bay. Great selection of bikes ready to go including used bikes! Parts and service with awesome staff. Same owner since day one your the man Jeff!!👍🇺🇸
Quick turn around depending on service needed as well as willing to work with customers on finalizing and adjusting builds of components on bikes that have been started and left incomplete. Jeff greeted me and worked with me to correct a few issues I had with my mountain bike. Best to call in and request what you need to plan ahead and around their service schedule to get your bike in and out as soon as possible as they do not always have mechanics in shop to perform certain services.
I live in Turlock and drove all the way to the Bay Area to The Peddler bike shop because they were the only shop that had the part that I needed, sad to say but this has happened several times.
First you a local small business and I believe in supporting local businesses. Second your business has help support our Celebrate Hercules 4th of July event every year. That means a lot to me both personally and as one of the organizers of the event. Third, everyone that I have had the opportunity to interact with has been knowledgeable and helpful. I will be back to get some additional stuff for my new Rock Hopper. I would like to also say Cullen has been great the whole time. I came in a couple weeks ago about buying a bike (nothing fancy) but my old bike is over 20 years old. I knew going in there was a bike shortage. Cullen explained to me what the process was and that new inventory was coming in all the time. I gave him my number and the range I wanted to spend. A couple of weeks went by and he called me and now I am the owner of bright red Rock Hopper. Thanks to everyone at The Pedaler Bike Shop.
Very helpful and professional. I live in San Mateo I will definitely return to this bike shop.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff, great inventory. I’ll be back!
I bought this bike 🚴🏼 in college when a 275 mile ride was presented to me with only 5 🗓 weeks notice.People said I couldn’t do it. I had to train for months... 🤷🏻♀️I was determined. 🤨 I went and bought my Cannondale 💛 with a mission in mind - to ride from Orlando to Miami in 3 days with only five weeks notice. You know what? I did it. Just to show them, and myself, that I could!! 💪🏼I love my bike and wouldn’t let it go into the landfill - even after it was bent and banged up from falling off the back of my car on I-80 a few years ago and left to rust outside... Jeff at The Pedaler Bike Shop in El Sobrante restored it and brought it back to life. I’m forever grateful. ♥️ Thank you.I was so excited I even rode it all the way home from the bike shop!
They have a huge selection of bikes to choose from whether it be for a child, teen or an adult. All the staff were super friendly and helpful. They have all your bike needs. Check them out!
Wonderful place! Everyone was very pleasant, didnt make me feel stupid as a novice, and did their best to uphold COVID-19 regulations. I plan to go there for all my cycling needs.
Nice to walk in and buy something the day you need it...
Everyone here was a delight to interact with. i love this place from the first minute i looked them up. ThankYou all at ThePedaler !
They were very friendly and the service was excellent!!
Great products and very friendly and competent staff
My bike has always been returned in good working order.
Murtaza lala cool
The salespeople were very knowledgeable and patient with me and my son. I was impressed with how technologically advanced bike helmets have become. Lots of good information from everyone I spoke with.
The staff is friendly and amazing. Brought my bike in for a tuneup and it was ready way ahead of schedule. I will definitely return.
I have been going to The Ped since we first moved to the neighborhood circa 2004. I have benefited from their sound advices and quick and timely repairs.Lately, because of the pandemic, the lines have been long just to get into the store. The way I see it, there are 2 people going into the store:1) new cyclists/newbies needing to check out new bikes, how to install lights etc. most likely needing face-to-face assistance2) your faithful old customers who just need to pick up a bike that was dropped off for maintenance, or to pick up new gear that was purchased online or via phoneThe one upside of this pandemic is people are discovering the joy of cycling. Lets keep it up and have more people advocate for this activity. So the long lines are good. But perhaps setup 2 separate lines that service 2 distinct needs? I think the lines would go faster. :)
Good customer service and local knowledge. The small shop is packed with bikes and gear. Ive been going here for years and will happily continue to shop at the Pedaler.
Everyone was super helpful! Also a great selection to choose from. I went in really unsure of exactly what I needed but everyone was so helpful and patient. I really appreciate the personalized service, especially since its so busy what with everyone wanting a quarantine bike. Definitely worth the (totally understandable) wait! Ive ridden my new bike twice already and its exactly what I wanted!
Purchased by first bike here just a few hours ago, and I have to say, Im amazed at how kind and helpful the workers of this place are. Even though I dont know much about bikes, I was walked around for the best deal, and was even taught a few things. Im absolutely coming here again when I can!
My experience there was great, and they had everything I went there for. The people that work there are awesome!
Ive been happy in all of my dealings with The Pedaler and its outstanding crew since the first time I set foot in the shop. But they went above and beyond recently, when they took in my bike for repairs on the day before the shelter in place rules went into effect. They understood that a number of their customers would go crazy if they simply shut down, so they implemented a way of staying open that will hopefully keep them all safe while still providing excellent service to their customers and community. Great folks and a great shop.
Love their selection and always up to date with the new bike trends. Great owner and friendly neighborhood staff. Love supporting the local business and it shows theyve been around for a very very long time.
Best service, kindest staff, great prices, just all-around fantastic shop. There are no shortage of competent bike pros in the city, but I make the journey across the Bay Bridge for the courtesy and kindness in addition to the competence. Thank you!
Would not recommend this place. Everything is overpriced and the service is horrible. I felt like they felt they were doing me a favor. I live in Richmond but would rather take the drive to frame up bikes in pleasant Hill. They have much better selection and service.
Great service along with helpful and very friendly staff. It was a pleasure shopping here. Ill definately be back!
I’ve been taking my bikes here for a couple years. The shop has always been very nice and knowledgeable. All repairs have been done in a timely fashion with great communication.Im editing this review. After 3 years of shopping here we wont be coming back. I apparently missed their misplaced scrabbled on white board that said to wait outside for an associate. Sergeant cycle yelled at me in an aggressive and militant manner to wait outside while the store was empty. There are plenty of local bike stores around here - we will patronize those moving forward.
Hi,This is my first time at The Pedaler Bike Shop to purchase a reasonable Bike 🚲 for my commute to work. I asked for help to get it from a huge inventory they have. Expert Ron H help me out some of them most suitable regarding my height & weight.I picked up naming Cypress Giant from them. He thoroughly checked it in the safety bike section of the Shop.I am very glad that it is most suitable bike I ever purchased in my life for my comfort. Thanks The Pedaler Bike 🚲 Shop & of your expertise in picking & matching with my body needs. See u soon bye 👋.
We needed a pandemic bike, and they were exceedingly hard to find. The Pedaler made it super easy. Reserved an allocation on the phone, they gave us a good hint on a good time to avoid the crowds. Bike is awesome!
Great in store help and advice. Their customer service is the best!
Lovely experience, great staff and lots of great products :)
I purchased two new bikes from this company, spending a good amount of money. I had to then come back after a months use because the bike was beginning to make strange noises when I used my brake. While my bike was in the companies care It got scratched! Now the store refuses to take accountability & fix what was broken. I don’t think this is professional & am very unhappy with the costumer service I received. I do not recommend purchasing from them!
They are the best and always have been! Whenever I need a new bike or my family is just starting out and cycling this is always our first stop. Jeff and his staff are amazing and I would never go anywhere else. It’s just something you want to be a part of there.
Great people who really know what they are talking about. They do a great job on our bikes.
Me and my girlfriend went in not knowing anything about bicycles. Colin helped us with all of our questions and we got the perfect bicycles to start out with. He is super friendly and knowledgeable I will definitely be taking my business here for all of my future purchases
Worst experience ever. These guys tell lie. I bought 3 bikes from here but worst experience. Never ever going to buy from here.
With the Nation wide bike shortage I came in thinking that I would have to pre-order a bike for sometime next year. But talking with YL he showed me few bikes that may interest me. I walked out the store with a Trek ALR 4 that day, over my budget but I was satisfied. With the air quality and injury I had with my last bike (thats another story) I cant wait to jump on and do some miles. Thank You YL and Pedalers Bike Shop for your customer service.
Great service. Even when i could not make it into the shop. They were honest with the items in stack and handled everything over the phone. Glad to do business with them.
Great customer interaction, great recommendations for parts and equipment, great fast bike maintenance services
Solid local bike shop with a super friendly staff.
Really nice people. very knowledgeable and helpful.
