Recently ordered from Kult of Athena, the customer service was polite and professional. I originally ordered an item, after a few days saw something else from the same company/manufacturer, but better specs, had my original order cancelled with no problem, and ordered the other one. Item arrived quick, like 12 days, and thats with the sharpening service. Previously I had dealt with 2 other companies, both bad experiences, and will not go back to those. While Im a newbie to this market, I had a great experience and love the item and service Kult of Athena provided. Thank you Kult of Athena! Youre my new go to for all things medieval. Ive nearly lost count of how many times Ive ordered from Kult of Athena. Ive found the best pricing there, excellent communication and customer service, good quality control, and their sword sharpening service as well. In the rare event anything might go wrong, they make sure its made right. Really good people there.
While Sword Buyers Guide recommends Kult of Athena, the company does not appear to be living up to the hype. I ordered a several items which were never shipped and my inquiries to the company were never answered. Luckily I used paypal which protects my interests or I might simply be out hundreds of dollars. Do not recommend.
Ordered an item beginning of June. Stated it would ship within a week, but add 14 days for the sharpening. Checked in 1st week of July. Informed item came in on 6/16 a week after order but sharpening order was backlogged to wait a bit longer. 7/7 got email shipped. As of 7/12 there is no update on tracking order. Called CS was told label was generated late, and would ship today. I pointed out label was generated 7/7 why didnt it ship 7/8 or 7/9. They didnt know. I was put on hold told it wasnt on shipping cart and wait to see if it showed up. USPS assures me no way it was picked up without being in the system after 4 days. Absolutely unacceptable. At this point I just want to request a refund.
They dont follow their own return or manufacturer defects policy. They sold me a lemon with damaged parts and fittings but wouldnt take it back or replace the sword.Beware of these grifters.
They have an amazing staff, always professional and helpful. They go above and beyond to provide such great service. They also have a selection that is unmatched by any of its competitors. I stopped by to purchase a sword for my son’s birthday during COVID 19. I didn’t know they were only shipping items and the showroom was closed. I can say these are the nicest, most accommodating people I’ve done business with. They helped me out in a jam and I am forever grateful. I got a great sword at a great price and the sword smith (don’t know if that’s the right term) made sure it was in perfect condition before delivery.I can tell you first hand that these people care about their customers.
Its been 18 months and I havent received either a sword or a refund. Atrocious.On 23rd September 2019 I purchased a blunt single hand sword blade from Kult of Athena for USD$98.95 plus USD$69.06 for priority shipping.As I was rechecking the shipping information on 26th September, I realised that I had put the wrong postcode in the shipping address (NSW instead of VIC postcode) and advised Kult of Athena. I was informed that the item had already left the warehouse (on 24th September) and the shipping address couldnt be changed at that stage. This wasnt their fault but the transport company couldnt deliver the team.The sword blunt was returned to Kult of Athena as the address I provided wasnt recognised.I followed up with Kult of Athena on 30th October to see if the sword blunt had been returned to their warehouse, so it could be re-sent to me. The tracking website indicated that it had been returned to sender for around two weeks at this stage. I was advised that it hadnt been returned. I followed up again on 18th November asking if sword had been returned - it hadnt. I asked if I could get a refund for the sword instead and was advised that once the sword was returned to them they could refund me through my card.On 7th February 2020, Kult of Athena contacted me to say that the sword had been returned to the warehouse and asked that I pay the shipping again to have it sent out.I responded on 13th February, as I was quite frustrated and upset at this stage, that I wanted a refund instead. I received no response and followed up on 10th March with the same query - no response.I have double checked my credit card statement and I cant identify any payment from Kult of Athena in the range of USD$98.95. Im now very frustrated, ripped off and feel as though Im being ignored by the retailer.
Ive been buying from Kult of Athena for a few years. They have never disappointed, prices are as fair as they come and they are very accommodating. Shout out to Matt, he went above and beyond to answer my questions and gave me a little more information about items in the shop by trying them on for me since Im out of state. Absolutely amazing. Communication was incredible. Customer service was incredible. And processing time was well beyond my expectations. I was expecting my order to take 7-10 days. Not because it was a huge order but because I have two addresses. My job has had me moving back and forth from my primary residence and Chicago for a while. As I am currently spending more and more time in Chicago. I decided to ship my order to my Chicago address. My billing address however, is in my home state. If you look up the policies on Kult of Athena it states that they have to confirm you actually made the order if the billing and shipping address is different. I got an email from Sam. He walked me through what I needed to do and boom my order was on its way. The whole time he was polite and patient. It was a great experience and when the sword arrived I was incredibly happy. I cant recommend them enough. They are doing amazing work and I cant wait to buy from them again.

First class customer service as well as very patient and accommodating of my questions. I have been aware of KoA for years but have never had the chance to buy from them. Oh a whim, I decided to try out a Scottish Claymore made by Hanwei.The sword arrived with a slight bow toward the tip that would not impact function at all and was barely visible, but I still felt that it was worth an inquiry mostly to help educate myself. I sent the picture of the blade to their CS department via email on sunday night. I had a response within the first couple of hours Monday morning. I conversed with a very understanding representative named Matt. Upon our conversation as well as a bit of internet digging, I found that slight imperfections like the one found in my blade are to be expected from Hanweis more budget line (or really any sword at that price point). One has to keep in mind that you can only expect so much out of a battle ready sword coming in at 55 and weighing nearly 6lbs yet costing under $300. Like I said, the issue is so minor that most wouldnt even notice it.Even still, Matt checked their stock to see if they had anything else that was closer to perfection. Class act. In the end, their other specimen had a similar blemish. I elected to keep my original sword and enjoy it for what it is. There was no need to wrap and ship another sword.So even though my sword was not perfect as manufactured by Hanwei, the handling by KoA CS was. They were understanding, engaging, and did everything they could to not only educate but make sure options were given to try and make me happy. As a small business owner who works with a demanding (some might even say entitled) public, I appreciate them going the extra mile and taking the time to answer my questions so promptly and thoroughly. Its very easy to become jaded and short, but all of my communications with KoA were professional and prompt with no hint of trying to get rid of me.I without a doubt will have no qualms doing business with them again. My next sword will certainly be a tick up higher in quality, and I look forward to purchasing it from Kult of Athena.

This is my second time ordering from Kult of Athena. The first time i ordered a sword to deliver. I received it fairly quickly after the order was confirmed. Item was packaged well and is a beautiful piece. They offer a professional sharpening on some items and I have found it certainly worth getting. The second order I placed was set for a pickup from their Elgin warehouse. Its a very easy process. You only need your order number and an ID to pickup. The staff there was incredibly helpful and courteous. I would order again with them in a heartbeat!
These guys are legit! One of the best purchasing experiences Ive had online. I called ahead to verify product and shipping time. Product was exactly what I expected from the online description. It was shipped and arrived within a week. Ill definitely be a returning customer. A++

Frustrated with their customer service. Had an issue with UPS who lost our package (admitted to not even ever having it put on the delivery truck, lost somewhere in between). As a business most places would be willing to work with a paying customer to at least overnight a new product since it was over 2 weeks from when the original order was placed and was ordered for a specific occasion which now had already passed. True they have great products but if you cant guaruntee the seller of said products is going to have your back if something goes wrong, why buy from them. The manager accused me of threating him over the phone with a bad review, however I feel that is just facts. As I do read reviews about many different products and businesses, I feel its the right for others to know that IF you encounter an issue with something they are not very professional to do business with. The seller basically could care less about any inconvenience to us as the buyers, and you are just expected deal with it without offering something (however minimal or small) for your troubles is poor business practice.
PRAY THEY NEVER GET YOUR ORDER WRONG.Was a loyal customer for many years. Then they got my order wrong, made me go through several steps before they would do anything about it, and couldnt give me any definite time when theyd get the corrected order to me. After cancelling the order, I contacted the owner to convey the issue I had. He insulted me, used profane language, and banned me from any future purchases.And this all came about because they got my order wrong in the first place.
Kult of Athena is absolutely terrible. A defective sword stand was shipped to me that had scratches and nicks including the felt fabric misshaped and falling off the sword rack. It took their customer service rep Kay 3 weeks to inform me that they dont see that as a defect. After emailing him again explaining there were multiple issues with the sword stand I didnt hear back so I had to call to speak with a manager by the name of Ryan whom at first seemed reasonable, however turned out to be equally as bad with handling this issue having atrocious customer service skills and a bad attitude. I shipped the sword rack back and was told they were going to inquire about their new shipment of sword stands and they would contact me regarding next steps. No correspondence received and was arbitrarily issued a refund minus the cost of shipping. Called to speak with Ryan again and he stated all the sword racks were like the one I received and I had unrealistic expectations and legally they were in the right stating there was nothing wrong with the sword rack I received which is why I was not reimbursed shipping. Ryan was extremely unprofessional, disrespectful, and belligerent over the phone. To double down on a defective product and insult a customer informing them they were unrealistic about their expectations and in the wrong is not how you treat a customer! Pretty sure no customer would expect to receive a product and be okay with having to repair it upon arriving when you are paying for a new unused piece of merchandise. You wouldnt go buy a new car with the headliner falling down just to have the dealer tell you you can fix it with some bead glue so that blows that assaning theory out of the water. By far the worst customer service I have ever received. Do not risk buying from Kult of Athena, if there is anything wrong with your purchase they will make up every excuse that they are not at fault, and its your problem. They are obviously receiving second hand merchandise and or factory seconds given the condition of the product I received, and their customer service was embarrassing and shameful. What is sad is I have had family members who have been long time customers of Kult of Athena who spoke well of their products and services which is why I thought I would make a purchase through them. However upon learning what this experience was like they stated the company has obviously changed and gone down hill.
I have been researching my weapon choice for a few months now and I am thoroughly happy with the customer service I have received. I, being the anxious person I am was worried that my order even while bought while the items were in stock wasnt going to ship in time. Thankfully two wonderful customer service people helped to clarify that my order would be shipped and sent to me in a few days. My Deepeeka viking sword is scheduled to arrive Monday and I am very eager to see my sword, even though I am not allowed to actually accept it as mine until my birthday in a few weeks. Overall I am very happy with how they treated me over the phone and in the emails. I will update when I receive my sword.

Drove out here because Google has them listed as a cutlery store but theyre actually just a warehouses. (Googles fault, allegedly theyve been trying to get it changed). They offered to pull anything on their website off the shelf if they have it. I left with a great heater shield that was super cheap.

We will make sure to order from somewhere else or a direct competitorEdit: they moved to another location across the street without informing us over the phone, came back today to find you may not browse their selection you need to ask in a little room with no seats for the lady to selectively bring you items who is also standoffish. The arrows they brought us 4 out of the six were warped so badly they were unusable for target practice while the fletching was damaged on 3 of them. Over all, if you need something right away. Sure! If youre patient dont waste your time, money or patience.
