Best place to get a casual bite of sushi! Pick up is so easy and quick and the grocery store is fun to walk around if you need to a wait a little. I love to get their king salmon or tiger roll, as i find the seared salmon adds such a good flavor! Prices are reasonable and quality is always good. I highly recommend checking out Tensuke if you’re in the area!

Great Fresh Sashimi, Nigiri, poke 🥣 & hand roll sets. One of my favorite places to get fresh 🍣 . They also have a great Asian market in the same location that I shop in regularly, for all your fixings to make anything on the menu @ home. I have been going here for about 5 years now. Truly a place you should try if u like 🍣

Very cozy and cute market. The overall products are Japanese and they have some Korean products as well. They have restaurants at the back of the store, while the front is the market. I got to purchase some cute items. I loved the stationary section that they have! The market is still going through with being remodeled. But it was still a very pleasant experience and the cashiers where friendly and welcoming. The bread that they sell is fresh and was very delicious. I bought a tuna Mayo onigiri as well and the flavor was on point.

This is the BEST sushi Ive had in the entire city of Chicago and its surrounding suburbs. Ingredients are so fresh, everything is so awesomely prepared and their spicy mayo is literally to die for (get a side of it with your sushi, youll love it). The store itself is so cute they are renovating right now and cant wait to see what they do with it! Always stock up on my Asian ingredients from here and they were one of the only places to get masks during the pandemic.

Tensuke Market is very authentic Japanese food that is always tasting really great. I enjoy their variety and quality of food. When ordering an online order the only have one delivery driver so unfortunately you’ll have to wait longer than expected. That I would say is the one issue. The customer service is always helpful and really seem to care about their customers.

My absolute favorite place to eat in the Chicago/Wood Dale area. The people and the food are top notch and the prices are fantastic. Casual atmosphere and food court decor. Honest and friendly staff both at the register and the food counter. Ive eaten almost everything on the menu at least once now and I can definitely say its all delicious and not Americanized in the least. I keep coming back every time Im in town.I havent purchased anything from the main grocery store section so I cant speak to that, only the food court.

This Japanese market and food court is my go to place for amazing (and affordable) Japanese food staples. When Im in the area, I get my fix of soy sauces, seaweed wraps, candies, cookies and baked goods I could only get Japan when I traveled. Unlike the larger Japanese supermarket right down the street, I find most of the prices are reasonable and I get a little more for my dollars. It doesnt hurt that the food court food is amazing! I highly recommend this store.

An alternative and modest Japanese grocery store if youre looking for authentic Japanese products as well. I usually go to Mitsuwa marketplace in Arlington Heights, IL but sometimes last summer there would be a line and you would have to wait so long and then on top of it if you run out of imported Japanese rice its a first come first serve so they dont call you back at Mitsuwa. Do try their fresh sushi also its very good compared to what Mitsuwa Market has. Mitsuwa Market is a much more larger conglomerate since its somewhat Nationwide but I like this place better and I had seen a billboard advertisement before about this place and last year was a bucket list. I was very pleased or happy to discovering this hidden gem Japanese grocery store when theres no other alternative around the Chicagoland area in Elk Grove village near a strip mall between Arlington Heights Road and Higgins Road. If youre also looking for Japanese authentic ingredients or products this is another alternative place to go to beyond popular Mitsuwa Marketplace. I was impressed and liked that they take the extra mile when youre looking for a particular item when theyre out of it in stock they actually call you back. They go above and beyond for service. Reason for 5 stars

Amazing setting in a compact store! The food court was really well stocked with all types of options for food and method, be it pack it yourself bar, restaurant menu, or sushi. This rating is for the food court carry out. I actually remember tensuke food court to be quite decent, thus i missed it while being quarantine. However am disappointed this time. The sushi rolls i have ordered are falling apart and not to mentioned it is done very unprofessionally, the pieces are uneven and seaweed for some are shorter than the rice. Tonkatsu for one of my orders is overburnted it is dark brown and it tasted old as if it has been recooked. The ginger salad dressing for one of my order is dried up I believe it is old as well. Due to this experience i am not planning to go back for awhile. Since the quality is inconsistent.

Id rather give a 2.5 stars because Im so disappointed by the sashimi I ordered, but to be fair, the market itself is pretty good (though way smaller than Mitsuwa) and the sushi rolls/bento boxes are okay.I uploaded a photo of their Sashimi Deluxe Set which was $19. I dont know if its because of corona and finances are tight, or because I ordered take out, but look at the size of the shrimp and the squid in comparison to my fingers. Im a 51 petite Asian girl. FOUR slices of squid should NOT be the size of three of my fingers, especially at the price and quality of fish. If I ever visit Tensuke again, I will be buying my sashimi from the market section only instead of the food court.

A smaller alternative to Mitsuwa but dont expect similar food standards and cheaper price tag.We came here on a Saturday noon, there was a good crowd here but by no means beyond capacity to the point that we cant find seats at the food court. We ordered three packs of sushi premade on the side on the aisle leading to the food court and a bowl of Tonkotsu ramen. The sushi were decent, the sashimi inside were fresh and not too small, but not generous. Overall the sushi were quite small and nothing that stands out.The Tonkotsu broth in the ramen was terrible. I felt like a ladle of cream was dumped in and it was like a milk pasta broth with miso and pork. The other ingredients were subpar too and I dont bother writing them as the star is bad enuf already.Im giving them a 3 stars because I think I will still come back and try other stuff like the bento bowls and rice menus which are something different from Mitsuwa and perhaps these are the better things to order. Also their supermarket is small but really good. They even have small Daiso section and lovely Japanese soft toys.

Better tasting food (rolls; tempra udon, etc.) from Tensuke food market at much cheaper prices than some of the Japanese restaurants. Since its just down the road from Mitsuwa, this has become our new go-to for Japanese food when we dont want to handle the crowds. Its currently having some construction done inside, so its not the prettiest Ive seen it, but dont let that fool you! The selection was very decent for shopping, and the sushi counter is wonderful! It has some of the best prices for some of the best sushi Ive seen in the area. We make a trek out from beyond the suburbs, about an hour, to get there and it is absolutely worth it! Ive seen much fancier and avant-garde sushi places that try to bring you in with the decor, and well this place is plain and and is partially a grocery mart, it is fantastic. You absolutely do not need the bling to get good take away sushi. On top of that, well the grocery currently doesnt have the best selection due to some limited shelving space due to the construction, they do have a very serviceable selection that you can use to keep stocked up on the basics for cooking your own cuisine.

We went for the annual blue fin tuna carving and it was incredible!! The tuna was so fresh and amazing. I was really impressed with the food and the store. It takes a lot for me to go to another Japanese market with Mitsuwa being just down the street. Tensuke manages to do just that. I might not go there for Ramen but I would definitely buy fish and sushi there. I really appreciate the fact that they will sashimi any piece of fish you buy there for free and then give you an ice pack to keep it cold when you check out.It was an all around great place. Ill definitely be back.

Better food than Mitsuwa (not factoring their food court--just the grocery store itself). Mitsuwa used to be great, but over the years theyve become too commercialized to the detriment of the fresh food. What Mitsuwa has gained over Tensuke however, is more Americanized merchandizing of the aisles themselves. Tensuke has the distinctive Asian merchandizing/displays that feels more authentic and better mirrors supermarkets in Asia, whether thats a pro or con to people. I like it.
