They had exactly what I was looking for, and this location seems like its usually pretty well stocked. It just feels crowded - the building is small for how much merchandise they have, so it feels like its a bit hard to move around. It might be nice if they can move to a bigger location eventually.

Its small but there is a decent selection of products. I wouldve given 5 stars bit felt super claustrophobic in the store because of how tall the shelves and displays were in order to maximize space. The staff were super friendly though.

The Big 5 store in Elk Grove is the only location in Sac area where i have received consistently good customer service. Plus Dave the manager, a slightly older gentleman KNOWS his stuff when it came to outdoor sports, shooting, smart watches and other equipmt!!

The staff here is always helpful and the prices are better than Dicks Sporting Goods and the Sports Authority we use to have in the area. The variety is not as big as Dicks sporting goods, but they have what I would buy so it works for me. For those who play the catchers position you might want go somewhere else, because they only have the two sizes the kids size and the young adult size, the price for the gear is not bad, but if you want something more hard core you will have to go some where else.

Compare to other Big 5s, I was very satisfied by the customer service while buying my first stripper and salmon fishing pole package here and get the gear I need to be ready for action....thank you Robert for your help, he knows his stuff.

To much stuff in this store hard to get around

I had a $10.00 off coupon if I spent $30.00 - I bought a 29.99 pair of tennis shoes size 81/2 and then found a 9.99 pool raft. That met the criteria for 30.00. However, I thought I would grab a size 9 shoe just in case the smaller ones didnt fit, for my 92 year old friend who survived the Paradise Fire. Upon returning the size 9 shoe, I was told that the 10.00 off coupon was spread out among the three items I purchased. Nice tactic Corporate -So I am not getting my full 10.00 off after my return - Even though I had still purchased over 30.00 worth of items. This will be a nice lesson for my 7/8th grade math students. You lost my business and maybe some of our youth will learn a lesson too after this slimy business tactic.

I called for information on their gun license test and which the person that assist me was very rude talking very aggressively telling me that I could not make an appointment they dont do appointments for the gun license test and I cannot walk in for it also he told me that they had a limited options on firearms.. in which I do understand to take the test I would have to buy from Big 5 ....if Im sure it was the general manager and if so he is very rude not a good experience bad customer service....

Poor service, poor selection, annoying location due to traffic and nearby schools. Bought a tent, it was missing 2 of 5 items, both essential. And it wasnt shoplifting, someone would have had to open the entire tent in the middle of the store to do that. So either it was returned and not checked, which staff denied, or one of the staff stole parts. The tall bald guy has sideways been helpful, but thats it.

Horrible all around. Youre treated like nothing more than a cash cow to them. Gone in at different times and seasons but nothing has changed. Usually vacate quickly because its not a good place. Bad customer service. Prices are bad. Go elsewhere or a different location if you like there stuff.

Shopping with three kids for shoes can be a challenge. The two gentlemen in the shoe dept were very helpful. They came by multiple times asking us if we needed anything.

Great prices with an ok selection. Ive always liked big 5 better than the larger sports stores, but they need to do a better job of managing their staff. There were six customers waiting to try on shoes with one poor boy working the shoe dept, while there were plenty of other workers wandering around other parts of the store doing nothing.

Big 5 was a young family members choice to get Nike sneakers, the store is like a mini mall inside, the variety of items are like a well laid out showroom.

To me, Big 5 says affordable. Quality, not so much. This location, is especially neat, organized, and tidy, though. The staff is definitely a star above any other location I have shopped in. Good for quick replacement sports equipment for the kids.

I went to look at Kyacks. I wanted to purchase three. I asked a young woman if I could get help at the Kyacks. She said sure. I waited 30 minutes before going home because no one showed up! I have never been to Big 5 and will never good back!

No public restrooms. 50/50 chance of them letting my small children use the restroom each time we go. Today I asked if my daughter could use it and they said yes while the woman stayed at the door the whole time. Then my husband asked if my son could use it and girl said no. Wont be returning Ill go out of my way to Dicks where they have better customer service and nice restrooms.

No customer service. I was looking for a pair of Asics shoes. I spent 10 to 15 minutes waiting for a salesmen, never came. I looked through all the Asics shoes on a shelf of discontinued shoes, and still.... Unable to try any on. None of the discontinued shoes were my size, and no salemen to get my shoe size from the back. I guess this place doesnt want to sell shoes. Amazon Prime, here I come.

I had been looking for a ski boot bag and apres ski boots. I had gone another store closer to me, but found nothing I liked and the evidently dont carry boot bags in their store, only online. However, I happened on this store and the boot inventory was entirely different and much better.After having searched all over online, I found a very nice pair of apres ski boots very much like what I had been looking for on sale!! Much less than what I had been seen.The customer service was great; I was greeted right away and asked if I needed assistance. When I got to the counter to pay for my boots, the salesperson was very friendly and it was a fast checkout.

Good for athletes or fans but the sizes in general are generally for taller people. Only one fitting room and crowded. Pricy and not for me.

Went to store to purchase a .22 rifle. The lady we originally talked with was was very helpful. Then she had to go home and she was replace with Greg, who I feel had a personal problem with my wife and I. It was like he was projecting some racial issues toward us. Nah...blacks people dont get discriminated against in Elk Grove.....lol. it seemed like he was making up his own rule for buying this gun. Saying we need all kind of different ID. I have other guns and never have I had to produce this much ID. When we asked why so much he had no explanation. My wife grew very frustrated with Greg and vowed not to go back.

I go in this sporting goods store in search of binoculars and at first i was looking around and called over an employee. I asked for 10x50 binoculars and she just picks two up w/o telling me where they are from and their price. I had to ask how much and she tells me the price and BRAND name of binoculars. I asked for the name as in the product name and she tells me the brand. She looks at me like im stupid and points at the brand on the binoculars. I was speechless. I wanted to see the model of the binoculars and see if they were multi coated or not but before i got the chance to look at the sides to see the model she takes it puts it back and walks away without asking me for anything else.
