The bagels are good but the owner is so surly that I have finally had enough. Locals need a spot like this and I assume that’s why they’ve stayed in business. Elkridge people are kind and generous and deserve to be treated better.
My first time in this establishment and the owner was so rude. He needs to learn how to talk to people. I order a medium coffee and plain bagel and it came to $4.65 he tells me rudely, i have to buy over $5.00, he pays over millions of dollars for some system. Then I upgraded my order to a large that came to $4.85, his attitude was so unprofessional. I looked around to decided on getting something else, decided on a bottle orange juice. An expensive orange juice $6.96. It’s too early for his rudeness.
This place used to be amazing. It was a very important part of my childhood when the original owner was there. I recently moved back to the area after having been away for years and was saddened by the change in standards there. The owners seemed uninterested in being there and the food was subpar. Such a shame.
Great sandwich, nice bagel, and decor looks nice to hang out with plenty of tables. Ordered a ham, egg and swiss on an everything bagel (pictured) + a bagel and cream cheese to go. Both were very tasty, wrapped well (still hot when I got home), and hearty. Id definitely go back. I was greeted nicely and the prices were reasonable for what I view as higher quality than franchise coffee shops. I saw the other harsher reviews and cant comment other than my experience was good and Ill be going back - Ill update my review if my view changes.
My bagel breakfast sandwich was excellent. I order an everything bagel and it was salted/seasoned to my liking. The egg and bacon was equally good. The coffee was good. The place is no thrills and I believe the pricing of items is very fair.I will have to return and try other items.
Looking for a good, standard breakfast bagel place? This will hit the spot. Cafe Bagel is not pretending to be a fancy brunch spot or the next Starbucks, but is instead a good value (for two good sandwiches and two coffees we paid less than $17) with quick service and a good amount of variety. My mother got a corn jalapeño bagel with a crab cake filling that was startlingly strong. I went more simple and got an Asiago cheese bagel with ham, cheese and egg. My bagel could have been a bit cheesier, as the Asiago flavour was far from overwhelming, but it still tasted fresh and had a good chewy crust. There was both cold and hot pre-brewed coffee available. The next time I come I would like to try some of the impressive looking sweets - there were cookies about as big as my head! Give Cafe Bagel a try :)
A great neighborhood bagel and coffee shop. Quality fresh bagels and gourmet coffees. Its a nice place to hangout but space is limited.
The jalapeño cheddar cream cheese here is one of my favorite breakfasts ever.
I’ve been getting supreme bagels here for a couple months now and WOW are they good!! Always fresh and they taste amazing, so much better than any chains! I order mine with just cream cheese, but I can only imagine they’d be great as a sandwich too!
Unfortunately, l too have again been on the receiving end of rude service at the counter, I think it was the owner who was working the counter this morning. What an angry snippy man. He doesnt understand even the most basic concepts of civility and customer service. Baffling. His employees know more about customer service than he does. No need to reward him with my business anymore. Sad situation.
Used to love this place. Came by today because I had a hankering. I was greeted pretty rudely when I went to order, and was given the wrong order. Considering it was $5.12 for a bagel and a small soda, I was hoping it would be just as I remembered. When I got home I realized it was saturated in butter despite me requesting cream cheese. This used to be one of my favorites but unfortunately seems to have gone downhill :(
Had high hopes for this place because the reviews were good online. I go there expecting only to get an amazing bagel or two. I ordered two bagels. One plain with nova lox, cream cheese, onions, capers and another with the same. I got 1 tiny piece of lox on each bagel, a little tomato, 1 little piece of lettuce and barely any capers all for $20. Are you serious???? How stingy can you be? You are a bagel shop!!!! Its all you specialize in yet you want to be cheap and skimp your customers at $10 a bagel for all that? Just do everyone and close shop if profits are that tight that you have to do that to your customers. Not to mention, the asian guy at the register had a piss poor attitude. You can tell hes struggling to keep employees because its always some new high school kids just needing a job. Fix your service or close shop!
Great chicken salad sandwiches! Best arround!
Cafe Bagel has been my go-to for bagels for a very long time and worth the trip even if you dont live in the neighborhood :)
This is the best bagel shop around. The options are better than Einsteins, and the sandwiches are also good!
I went here for the first time today and was greeted by a lady with a frown, and appeared to be unhappy to be at work.I ordered a buttered bagel and was quoted a price close to $3.Due to the price I was quoted, and the poor service I left.I would prefer to go to Bagel Bin in Columbia, or The Bagelry in Silver Spring. Friendly service, great prices and make you feel appreciated having your Business!Never again Cafe Bagel!
I woke up early to do a little work one Saturday and decided to check out Cafe Bagel after finding it on Google. The Bagel sandwich and coffee I had was fantastic. The service was quick. Unfortunately, they do not have wifi, and they cover their power outlets. Therefore they are not business traveler / student friendly, so I have to give them 4 stars.
I can’t comment on the customer service because it’s usually a quick pick up and go, which I’ve never had a bad experience with. But this is the ONLY bagel place that has goodies on BOTH sides of the everything bagel!!!! It’s So delicious.
Quick service and always clean. I love the Asiago bagel! Also love the Walnut honey cream cheese when bringing out a bag of bagels for the office.
Nice place. Very clean. Service is quite good considering the amount of traffic they get. Good selection of food and, though not cheap, not too pricey either. We go occasionally to get out, and because its close, easy and good.
They are a simple bagel place but their food is delicious, especially their BLT on their everything bagel. The service is good, the staff friendly. My family loves their bagels and we drive 20 minutes out of our way to get their food all of the time!
Disappointed with this place, had high hopes they would satisfy my teammates expectations. three people ordered three bagels with spreads, only one of the bagels had a spread on them. By them time we checked our order we were already at the fields ready to play for the day. The only upside to this experience was the easy to get to location and they great variety of bagels and spreads to choose from. Unfortunate we were unable to try any of their spreads since they forgot to put them on our bagels.
The food is good the customer service is usually good but today my experience was Definitely Some racism So I paid with cash pulled out a $20 bill the Asian owner or gentleman looked at my money like it was funny told me know he doesnt wanna set this bill song pull out another twenny and give him that 1 then as Im sitting here looking at my $20 bill and like theres nothing wrong with this so he definitely was implying that I had maybe fake money looks at it again and says O its not fake a just feels funny On top of that had a horrible attitude so Ill take my business somewhere else This is the closest bagel shop Is crazy I make well over a 100k Out front your establishment in a $70k car This is the type treatment you get wow
Fantastic breakfast bagels.👌 The Triple Cinnamon bagels is a must try!
Quick service when ordering a breakfast bagel sandwich. Good flavor, but it was not the most fresh bagel Ive ever had. Decent variety of sweets/pastries. $5 minimum on debit/credit card purchases.
Bagels are good. Teenager help is nice.Owners, not so much - not friendly. They recently plastered a sign above the soda machine basically saying not to drink so much soda because it costs them a lot of money...Sorry, but Im taking my business elsewhere.
Nice little place picked up a morning snack & coffee. Love supporting individual places over large chains.
Ordered a cheese sandwich (I dont eat meat) and was charged over $ 8.00 for it. When I got home, I found a sandwich on two tiny slices of rye bread with ONE SLICE of muenster cheese. Unbelievable for a sandwich shop to find this acceptable. Wont be back.
Its like they set up the cafe to be great, but didnt follow through. Theres a big coffee station, but only one of the coffees is available. If you want creamer, the guy taking orders will get a carton of creamer from the fridge, then take it back when youre done. All food served in cheap styrofoam to-go containers. Service not particularly friendly.
Quick and friendly service. Boars Head meats. Good deli sandwiches and bagels. The pastries look great but I havent tried them. They serve breakfast too
Horrible owner. Mean, rude to virtually everyone who walks thru the door. Surprised it still is open honestly. He was so rude to my elderly mother - yelled at her for something ridiculously small ( like taking an extra napkin or something like that). Crazy. Some people shouldn’t try to be in the customer service business. Do not go here.
Food is good, but its staffed by well intentioned kids. So sometimes you wait 25 minutes for two salads. Staff us usually friendly, unless their moody. Place is often run with no sense of urgency. Coffee is good, and they serve Boars Head meats, which is a big bonus in my book.
Amazing sandwich, a ton of options. Fresh bages
Who doesn’t sell turkey in breakfast sandwiches!! Living in elkridge for 11 years, this is absurd!! The owner is disgusting with his attitude as well. Never going or looking at this place when I drive past, I’d rather drive few miles more to Charwood Deli
Great bagels and breakfast food. Itd be nice if they had some more mature employees besides all high schoolers.... its nice for them to try n give them a job but I think there needs to be some more experienced supervisors at least .... food is still good tho
Would love to have a neighborhood bagel shop to go to but unfortunately they have no desire to be part of the community. Unfriendly owner, unhappy employees and overpriced food. The food is good but the total lack of customer service, outdated furniture and high prices leaves me saying no thanks, not spending my money there...
I have had a breakfast sandwich (multi grain bagel with egg cheese and Canadian bacon) n the new yorker on a multi grain bagel. Both were really good.
I wont be coming back here. Ive been here a few times and its always been an *okay* bagel shop. Recently though, management must have changed because the shop is much more aggressively anti-customer. There are signs everywhere shouting No sitting for more than an hour! or No free refills!. The last time I went in was around 3 PM on a Saturday, they were mopping (when they open at 6 AM) and said that I could not sit down at any of the tables or bar if I were to order food. The coffee was coffee, the food was dry and a bit tasteless. They didnt give out and napkins or utensils when I received my food, and apparently another customer tried to order a bagel that day and they werent serving any which was odd because its a bagel shop. My advice, go somewhere else like Baltimore Coffee Co or Oca Moca nearby.
Nice place to chat and have coffee in the area. Bagels are good but coffee is not too great.
I’ve been here a few times since the restaurant is located right behind my house. The first time I went there I ordered a bagel with cream cheese and butter, but they only gave me cream cheese. When I went back to the register to ask for a side of butter, they said they would have to charge me extra. The 2nd time I went I ordered a bagel sandwich with roast beef and turkey. The owner said that I couldn’t have 2 meats on my bagel, and if I wanted roast beef and turkey, I would need to order 2 sandwiches. There’s also a sign at the soda machine saying, “Only 1 free refill per customer.” I really wanted to like this place, but the cheapness of ownership rubbed me the wrong way. I won’t be coming back.
Decent enough spot. The summer staff is awesome and friendly. Slightly overpriced for what you get. Just leaves a bit to be desired.
Friendly service, very good farmers omlette, always clean and tidy
A decent bagel. The best in the area, but thats not saying much. They have chocolate chip bagels which are my kids favorite
Bagels are fresh, speedy service, friendly faces! My go to is the egg onion bagel with tuna ... delicious.
Best homemade bagels around. Been coming here since they opened regardless of ownership at the time.
Its a moderate priced lunch...no more then a panera. Food tasted great, Bagel was nice a fresh. Service was fast and friendly. Will return if I am back in the area around lunch time.
The food isnt bad, when they can get it right. Unfortunately, that doesnt happen often. Worse still is that Ive been in this place when it first opens, when theyre about to close, and throughout the day and it is NEVER clean. Truly one of the dirtiest restaurants in the area, which is a shame, because its a cute little place. Weve been disappointed for the last time.
Very busy here today on a a Saturday morn. Consistently great bagels.
Great bagel breakfast sandwiches. Dessert items are questionable in terms of freshness. Good coffee options.
Friendly family-run joint with lots of bagel choices and cream cheese choices
Great bagels and pastries all made fresh in the store. Will definitely return
I love my Cafe BAgel because I am a coffee sipper and live alone. I usually take an hour to drink 1 large cup and the place is great, and since Im the only one drinking it, making individual fresh brewed cups of coffee are the best way to go.
Good bagels but the cream cheese is always sour. Best bet, go next door to Giant and buy Phila Cream cheese
Good sandwiches, service and fresh coffee.
Only giving 2 stars because they had previously given good food. My omlette today was partially burnt and chewy. I wont be returning.
Nice staff. Good bagels and coffee. Good sandwiches. Usually not too crowded.
I try to support small business every chance I get, but they are really making it difficult.1) My first complaint is the minimum required purchase if you are paying with your credit card. This is an outdated practice and is really just frustrating when I purchase a bagel for $3.89 and have to buy a soda/juice/coffee just to get the privilege to pay with my credit card.2) The manager/owner there is very rude. Thank goodness most of the time he hires young kids at the front, who are much nicer.3) I decided to eat-in for a change and bring my laptop to do some work. The only plug in the entire seating area is covered up with tape.4) Ok, I have a full 100% power of laptop, no problem, but no Wi-Fi! How can a coffee shop in 2019 not have any Wi-Fi. Granted this seems like a 1st world problem, but come on, people need to get work done.5) Ok, so Im running my laptop on my own power cause this place covered up the plug, getting the internet form my own phone via tethering, because this place has no Wi-Fi, but I can finally get to work, but nope. There is the constant thumping of loud music in the background. The machinery is so loud in the background, there is no way I can get work done in peace.6) Instead of actually working, Im sitting here writing this review. At least others can be informed.
Makea a great Nova on Supreme. Andy and the gang make you feel like homeys.
Fresh food, great service, not expensive.
Nice little local spot for bagels and breakfast.
No Wi-Fi. No outlets. Not for folks who are looking to work. Get your bagel at GTFO. Nothing wrong with that but if you are a looking to work go elsewhere.
The service was fast and friendly and the food was good
I have been going here for years. Until today. Today, after eating I filled up my coffee (one refill permitted as per the sign) and left, only to be chased down and grabbed by the owner and told NO REFILLS IF YOU ARENT EATING IN. Well, she hadnt seen me in the place because she was cleaning in back, but when I went back in, several staff confirmed I was in the right. She chased me down and grabbed me. Bloody insane. I have been going there three or more mornings a week, but no more.
Been going here for almost 10 years... Great food, great prices, friendly staff, and a very convenient location.
Rude owner, terrible service. Food isnt even that good. Go to Naval Bagels instead.
Great bagel shop! Best in the area!
Bagel itself was good, but the egg and cheese was awful. Dried up and definitely not worth the money.
Great bagels and coffee!
My wife and I moved around the corner from cafe bagel and were excited to have a bagel shop close to home. The food here is not bad, but the service is unfortunately awful. We got home recently to find our bagel was missing lox, and when we called they said well you could come back. We passed on this figuring the next time we were in wed reference this and theyd make it right. Unfortunately the manager today thought he was in a spot where he couldnt be heard when my wife sent the cashier back to ask about this. He responded what the hell do they want me to do about it? Done with this spot and Id encourage anyone who goes to check your food before you leave because once youre out the door and youve paid, they couldnt care less about if youre satisfied.
Food taste good, but not what I expected.
Awful bagel bakery, owner does not know how to handle customers. Never going back again
The person handling the money was the same one slicing the bagel and putting it in the toaster - without gloves! And, to add to this experience, he then proceeded to cough into his arm and then pick up his phone - all without gloves. Ugh. I threw the bagel out and will never return. The health department needs to do a surprise visit to this establishment.
I have Celiac Disease so bagels are out for me. I met someone there and I had coffee. It was fine, but a little pricey. Not starbucks quality, but same priceI guess they really wanted to lock up at closing time as they were very rudely were putting the chairs on top of the tables all around us. I was not time to close yet, They had about 15-20 mins before they were to close but they decided it was perfectly fine to walk to the tables all around us and put the chairs upside down on all the other tables.I have worked in restaurants for many years, from fast food to sit down to diners and I have never seen this before! Yes, you need to put chairs up to clean the floors. But you do not do that until the people who paid to eat or drink have finished up. There are many other closing activities you could work on instead! If you want to try go mid-day.Who knows what it is like when they are opening, you may have to pull your own chair off the top of the table?
This my go to spot quality, speed, service.
The Lite Flyer was delicious.
The lady in the back is really rude. If you want better service, drive 5 - 7 minutes to Bagels n Grind by Arundel Mills.
I went in for a bagel but they were out of practically everything so I settled for a cookie and a Danish. I think it may have been the worst of either that Ive ever paid money for. They were both bland and stale. Unimpressed.
Expensive but pretty good.
Its a good neighborhood bagel store. It covers the basic.
Bad dont come here bad service owner charged us for extra butter without telling us this is theft do not come here!
The bagels i had were rock solid.
Service is usually good, food is just Ok. I come back because its really the only close bagel place.
Bagels were the best with a variety of spreads.
Pretty good bagels for breakfast.
Always reliable fresh bagels
Went here for breakfast before 7am. Took too long to finish me and my sisters order. They only had one cook and one cashier! Food was ok, a little pricey for the quality imo
Good breakfast on the go.
No wall outlets for charging electronics.
The female cashier was friendly.
They only have plastic stirrers for the coffee. Havent seen those in a while - sends a message of cheapness and lack of safety concerns to their customers about plastic leaching. Food/coffee nothing to rave about.
Quick and convenient
Decent bagels
Cant rate CB
Good good
