Donut Palace is my ALL time favorite donut shop. I just moved to KC and every donut place that I have tried since moving here pales in comparison. I have so many memories of my brother coming in town (he lives in Seattle) and our go to activity is going to DP at 3am to get their freshest donuts. I don’t write reviews ever, but I am a tough donut critic because I have had the best and that is Donut Palace. ❤️

Went there for the 1st time ever this morning (Thursday). Arrived at 9:00 and there were only apple fritters and 1/2 dozen random donuts which were not iced or filled in any way. If you want a chocolate long John, then forget about it. I got a plain donut which they iced with chocolate and another one they filled with jelly. Then was told $4. WHAT? 2 donuts cost $4? I paid for them and ate them outside at the table out front. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED in this place. I drove over 30 minutes just to give them a try (I do love donut shops). Watched many other customers walk in, see bare pastry shelves and then walk right back out. Locals may patronize them but I cannot. Save your money and find another place.** Owner replied to my comments of my review and while I can understand the tough times during pandemic, I was just not prepared to see empty pastry shelves at 9 AM in the morning on a weekday a year and 1/2 later. I seen the local news report about how this store managed to make it through the pandemic and I wanted to help it along as I believe in small businesses.

There was a line this morning for a reason! Very tasty and awesome selection of donuts. Some classics, but fun ones like bacon covered and salted caramel 😋🤤 Great staff that was friendly and efficient. Great place for some killer donuts.

They dont sell donuts by the dozen (what???) only individually, the donuts didnt seem fresh, twist donut lacking sugar. But the service was fast and the plain glazed donut was pretty good. Probably wont go again.

If your looking for excellent traditional donuts, this is the place! Donuts are large, first rate quality ingredients and no cutting corners! The custard filled (my favorite) I can tell is made on the premise everyday! The custard donuts are filled to capacity as are all the other filled donuts there. There is filling in practically every bite! The apple fritter and cinnamon bun are favorites too. No greasy residue in the box and the glaze is smooth, light and not gritty. I love that they offer the types of donuts we grew up with. Great for parties, meetings, office etc... This place offers a vast array of donut types to please everyone!

Used to go in there many years ago the former owners retired but still great tradition lives on

Excellent donuts and service! When I arrived to the shop, the line was all the way past the door. I was still in and out in about 5 minutes. The employees were friendly, helpful, and efficient. I only purchased a combination of apple fritters and old-fashioned, but they were all delicious. The apple fritters were HUGE and wonderfully made. I will definitely be back.

BEST DONUTS EVER!I went in just this morning (6/6) at around 6:25AM to pick up a dozen donuts. Not going to lie, my plan was to try them all for myself! Lol! I looked at DP’s FB page before deciding to head in, so I knew the owner was the one behind the counter who ended up helping me. Extremely friendly lady with a warm smile. I was happy to see she has a lot of regular customers- it was apparent she knew several of those who came in behind me.The donuts I selected were EXCELLENT! There was a huge variety and they are beautifully displayed. VERY FRESH! As others stated, the apple fritter is huge and delicious. My favorite was a glazed donut with caramel on top. All were extremely fresh and flavorful. I highly recommend Donut Palace for any of your donut cravings. You simply cannot go wrong supporting this local business!

Used to be the donuts were beyond compare and therefore worth the long drive and higher price. Last 2 times I bought donuts here, I ordered my usual custard filled long johns. Used to be busting at the seams. This is what they put now. Quality has really gone downhill! Very disappointed!!!

The donuts taste like a blissful summer evening on the islands of ancient Greece, and the atmosphere is comparable to that of the most tranquil forests in the world. Best of all, the owners son has beautiful hazel eyes, and his smile that lights up the entire room when he walks in. This fine dining institution raises the bar in terms of pastry production. The glaze of the donut leaves my mouth in ecstacy. The dining experience here is similar to the high that methamphetamine gives you. This experience has put me on the verge of suicide due to the fact that I will never be able to achieve that high until I eat there again.

Disappointing Donuts :(. Come in early hoping for fresh donuts.(they were cold and hard). Donuts needed more time to rise. Icing to Donut ratio is off(dry donuts). Friendly Staff. Overall I’m hoping I came in on a horrible off day but yes totally disappointed. Free Parking was nice and nice staff but disappointed in flavor.

Paid $25 for a dozen and a half of donuts, no drinks. Someone put day old (or more) donuts in our box and a few fresh ones, there is no way donuts that are supposed to be fresh would be so hard and we came in early. By the next day what was left over in our box were like rocks! Very disappointed. Rather go to Schnucks. Will not return. I can’t believe we spent $25 on donuts! That’s CRAZY! This place has gone down hill with their quality. Too bad this place used to be a real treat.

Very well made donuts, always reliable although they sometimes run out of some donuts later in the day. Never have been disappointed with the quality of donuts here, and the service is always great. The line is usually reasonable and so is the price.

At noon they were sold out of fresh Apple fritters. I was told the frozen one they kept wrapped in saran wrap in the freezer would taste the same if I heated it up at home. After eating half of it I had the worst stomach ache I have had in a very long time. My husbands donut was average. It is not too far out of our way but it is certainly not worth the trip.

Always fresh and a good variety. The owners are great too. They care about their employees and the community. Support local business and get some good doughnuts here.

The donuts are good. I gave them 4 stars because there has been a few times when I’ve gone with my kids at like 10:30 and the door is locked. No “closed” sign or anything. Lights are on inside. I’m guessing they do this when they just run out of donuts but it seems a bit odd.

Very busy on a Saturday which would make one to think the donuts are absolutely fabulous. The donuts are average and nothing really to write home about. If you are picking up donuts for the kids or the office this is the place to go as the price is good. If you are looking for something wildly different, I would keep looking.

Best donut Ive ever had, and Ive tried top rated donuts across the US. Nothing compares to a cake donut here, dense and greasy in the perfect way. If you want to go extra dense, get one of the old fashioned ones - the chocolate iced or cinnamon glazed are my favorites. Dont be afraid of the caramel bacon, its one of the best.

I can’t believe ya’ll were open so early! I was in my way to the airport and saw and donut place open at 4:00am! Also, those donuts are good! Also, lady working was very polite and professional. She’s a hard worker.

Good service and good doughnuts

We used to like this place! I just called to see if there was egg in their donuts before we took the trek out there (our son has allergies). The owner responded with “I don’t know, it’s a mix” and I asked if there was any way she could find out, her response was “well there’s an ingredient list but I have a line out the door so I’m not going to look”. 1. Egg is a very common allergy. How do you not know?! 2. If her tone wasn’t so rude and she asked kindly for us to call back I would understand, but her tone was so rude and there was no apology for not being able to help with a simple question.

Way overpriced for the quality, I couldnt believe I paid $13 for 8 average donuts.

Lovely Local Donut place with great timely n friendly service

Google suggested this place as a hyped up dessert shop. Unfortunately, Once I got here the older woman behind the counter was unfriendly. She made no eye contact after I handed her my money. I received my change and she walked off, all without a word to me. She went to the back to strike up a conversation with someone else and left my bag lying on the counter. I dont know what kind of friendly neighborhood place this behavior represents.I wouldve shrugged it off but the donuts were really dry and almost.... crunchy from being so hard.Huge disappointment. From recent reviews it seems like this place has started to go downhill anyways. Wish I couldve come in its glory because I saw nothing like that today.

Donuts like your grandmother used to make, if she made donuts. If she didnt, then its donuts like other donut places should be making their donuts. Theres a reason why this place is only open in the wee hours of the morning until after noon-their donuts dont sit around! Yum.

The donuts are awesome! However, be prepared to pay top dollar. Also, the customer service wasnt the best. We felt like we were bothering her to wait on us. Not only that, she was evident ally sick and was coughing all over the doughnuts. It wouldnt be such a big deal but my husband just had surgery and I have a comprised immune system. She didnt even excuse herself after she coughed. Lastly, make sure to not forget your drink. We did and that ticked her off. She had to separately ring the milk but wouldnt ring it out until my husband took it out of the refrigerator. The kicker to all of this is that there was only 1 customer behind us that had just walked in.

The donuts here are amazing. I have tried all kinds. They will even do special requests. Ever had a white creme filled chocolate long john, not like they do it. They staff is extra friendly and efficient. Even with the long lines like Sunday mornings, it is not a long wait. My familys guilty pleasure, they are that good. They also make cookies and such for special occations.

These donuts are the best in the area to be sure. Unfortunately the last several times I’ve been there, the staff hasn’t been using the paper numbers to call the next customer. If that’s the policy, please removed the numbers from the waiting area. The current situation is frustrating for your customers.

Old management was better, now it looks like a high school in their. Although the teenagers are good workers, the lady behind the counter with the brunette hair-whom I believe is the owner was very rude.

I was worried the long line would make me later than I already was for Sunday school but it moved fast. They had 4 servers which made the process faster. I love these donuts and the many assortments. Definitely recommend.

Some of the best donuts in all of St Louis are made here. If you want some though you need to show up early. The long johns are my favorite. There is seating inside and you can call ahead orders if you are getting a dozen or more. Call a day early for ahead orders and you will have fresh donuts ready for you when you show up!

The Donut Palace is a great family-owned business with heart. The Long Johns cant be beat and the service is always fast and friendly. Also notable is that they arent just donuts anymore. They take special orders of all kinds for cookies and treats for special occasions. Hand-crafted and made to order!

Donut Palace serves some of the best donuts in town, and if you think otherwise I challenge you to try them for yourself. Ive had donuts from across the county, and Donut Palace has by far the highest quality. In the morning before school hours they even pre-package bags of donuts holes for students to eat on their way to the local high schools. The icing on the cake is definitely the extremely friendly and helpful staff inside.

The staff is not friendly. Doughnuts are good. The younger staff members are always in a daze and the owners and older crew are always..bothered. QT across the street has doughnuts just as good, we have learned!

Since the new ownership there are fancy decorations inside......but no selection of donuts when you get there. After sleepovers ect you go in there and there are no long John’s, or “Donuts on the top”. Only a few small donuts to choose from.Save money on your renovations and make more donuts please.Many customers are going to Duck Donuts and Dunkin Donuts because it’s not worth the drive to your place just to see two trays of donuts left after 9:00 am
