This place is huge and packed. The entire top floor is full of books. Great selection of antique collectibles. You can walk around for hours. The prices are a bit high for what you get. The place smells like mold so I really couldn’t be in there long. It is definitely worth a visit . People are nice and there is tons of parking.

Tons of antiques and books. Fun place to stop at as they have a huge variety of everything. Antiques are sold in different booths, so prices, quality, and items vary. Most are on the expensive side. A lot of antiques are 20 percent off. Their second floor has many books. Books are well organized. There is something for everyone!

As my wife puts it: this is the place to go for your Maine honeymoon!I couldnt agree more, it was blast. Lots to see, both books and items. Plenty of material and nice staff. Sales all over the place. Parking was great and the location was easy to find.

We had fun!! Very fair prices compared to what we see at home in SC and NC. Really quirky and eclectic selection! I dont much care for ritzy antiques, I love the strange and unusual and there was plenty of that here. Really enjoyed this experience and I am a very experienced vintage, thrift and antique shopper. My husband found fantasy books from his favorite author no longer in print.

We never leave empty handed. Great selection of regional books and authors. The antique section has plenty of things to look at. Many of the dealers ask for outrageous prices though. It can feel like a chore sometimes because of that.

I love going to Big Chicken Barn Books! I always find what Im looking for and surprises that I am not. I found a lovely teapot inspirited planter with a hearty plant inside, for only a few dollars. Cant wait to put it on my desk at work!

Prepare to spend the day...the week...a month or more and STILL not see everything here. A rickety smorgasbord of antiques, oddities and used books. Various, unique vendor stalls.

Fun stop if you’re driving by. The first floor is antiques, and the top two are used books. The antique part is by booth, so the prices and quality vary widely. We ended up buying almost nothing, but it was fun to explore.

There are a lot of items here. One floor is random things and the next floor is all books. I wish there were more random things. I found that some things were at a good price and some felt a little high. This is a tourist destination. But there are a lot of fascinating items with a huge book collection.

When you are driving by this place I bet you are thinking What the what is this place? Well let me tell you. It is this big ol chicken barn that for some reason has tons of random stuff in it. Some of the stuff is pretty interesting, others looks like it came out of a horror movie. It is certain worth checking out with some people (not alone). For a place like this, the prices tend to be a little higher than other places. Still is a fun place to check out.

The five stars here go entirely to the antiques. We spent what felt like hours looking through the various booths in the first floor before heading to the books. Always a fun time in the antiques. The books on the other hand are fairly commonplace and Id recommend going here exclusively for the antiques. Unless you want old magazines. If so, strap in.

I love this place! Been visiting it over thirty years. Never know what youre gonna find. Move slowly and watch your step upstairs. Oh, and the best time to go is the coldest part of the winter... Thats when most vendors have their best discounts.

Lots of space, lots of stuff, and a great place to stretch your legs. However, the prices are horrifying, higher than you would find in a major metropolitan area. For example, there were jars of “sea glass,” the quality of which was no more refined than broken beer bottles at an illicit teenage hangout for $150.00. Again, it’s worth checking out, but you can leave your wallet in the car. You’d be a fool to use it.

As someone who tries to only buy used books, this place is an absolute utopia. Highly organized by category and alphabetical order. Massive selection with chairs placed in the aisles. Just a dream to browse. I can go in there with a list of authors/particular books in mind and not have to spend 100 years searching. I can also pick a category, like psychology, and find what I didnt know I was looking for.

I cant honestly give any more stars due to the ridiculous prices. They were selling broken tools for more than the same made modern tool sells for, selling an eight point set of deer antlers broke in half with lichen and with porcupine tooth marks for $60! Not sure how they are pulling the wool but they are.

Cool place. I was hoping specifically to score some vinyl. In that quest, I came away disappointed. They do have some. Not a large selection but several bins worth at least. It is almost entirely dad rock. Which is not a problem in and of itself. They had some desirable albums I do not have. But unfortunately its all WAY overpriced. Often to a comical degree, honestly. For example, Frampton Comes Alive was $20, in acceptible condition, but nothing special. I smelled something fishy, as that particular record is an extraordinarily common sighting in the wild. I got out my phone and pulled up discogs. Sure enough, I could buy precisely the same version/pressing listed in better shape for literally $2. Now its not reasonable to expect a local shop to match the lowest price worldwide on discogs, but come on. I checked a few others and it was a similar scenario. Maybe theyll find suckers that will pay these prices. Not me.

This place is a dream come true for anyone who loves yard sales, antique stores and generally digging around in other peoples junk. i wish that haggling was an option but since each stall is priced by the individual seller and not the staff it makes sense. there have been sales going on every time ive been there though so it was well worth the time to find tons of bits and parts for craft projects.

Review №37

This place is a treasure trove of magazines, books and collectibles and worth a visit, but the surly and unhelpful staff are quite a disappointment. Granted today was a warm summer day and theres no A/C in the place, but the staff could not have been more unfriendly. Upstairs, I asked for some magazines and the woman gave me a curt answered and went about her business--clearly not interested in helping customers. Downstairs, the woman working the cash register has the WORST body odor Ive smelled in years--I literally had to step away from the cash register as she rang up my purchases--incorrectly I might add--because her body odor was soooo offensive. The bathrooms were stinky and you got the message when you walk in the door. Instead of signs saying Welcome, were glad youre here, you are assaulted with several negative signs about not bringing trash in. OK, we get it--you have a problem with tourists dumping trash. But is that REALLY the first impression you want to create? Time for some throwing out of the surly staff and bringing in some friendly, fresh faces....
