Went to Home Depot in Ellsworth Maine to buy a John Deere lawnmower. They had 14 in stock. We bought one online while there and were told it would be fully assembled and delivered to our house. It came today.It was scratched and pieces were missing. They sent us the display model! My husband called them and it took him a LONG time to finally get to talk with someone. He ended up talking to the manager and she said she would work with us. The department person was supposed to call us. He never called. My husband drove there. By then he was really not happy.Can you say return? Home Depot will be picking up the lawnmower and we will get our money back. We are very, very disappointed about the customer service and the fact they couldnβt assemble a new mower but had to deliver us the display model. Never again Home Depot. You have lost our business.
WILLIE who works here was an amazing help and although he couldnβt find an answer, he didnβt give up. He persisted and spent 45 minutes with us helping until he found the item which was in another corner of the store and on the top racks. He provided the kind of customer service Mainers are known for. Please hire more like him!

I cant imagine a more disastrous experience trying to purchase carpeting and installation services. There was no employee in the department and it was several minutes before anyone came. Unfortunately they knew nothing about carpeting, or the availability and cost of installation. It took over 30 minutes for a salesperson to come, but I was at least able to pick out paint and have it mixed. The carpeting was all mislabeled as to being part of a quick installation option, so they sold me a product that wasnt actually available. And that was just the beginning. They made errors in ordering the carpet, gave the installation company the wrong information delaying the process further, and not only were they unapologetic, they were down right rude.
The one star is for the Tile guy. ( he deserves 5 stars, but I dont want you to think I approve of this location.) Cant remember his name, its not on the receipt. We ordered stuff, was told by tile guy it was all in stock according to his computer, were supposed to pick it up at purchase. It wasnt ready. We were told to wander the store for 30 minutes while they pulled it. It still wasnt ready. Could not pick it up the next day, as we were going back home to CT. So they were supposed to deliver it in 3 days. And then they called and said, no, it would be delivered on the 30th. (today). 3 days ago, I get a call telling me the delivery guy needs better directions, hes on the road with the stuff. I give him the better directions. Today I get a call from the contractor, When is the stuff coming, family emergency. I call the store. after 20 (literal) minutes of the customer service phone ringing, I hang up, and call the pro desk. Tell them i need cust. serv. STAT. She transfers me and I get right through. (!)I tell them about the issues regarding non-delivery, delivery? He tells me that even though the delivery is scheduled for today, the driver quit. So there will be no delivery, he does not know when there is a delivery, the family emergency is making it impossible for contractor to pick it up, and Im 400 miles away. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS HOME DEPOT, UNLESS YOU PICK IT UP OFF THE SHELF, AND CARRY IT OUT YOURSELF.

Bought a tuff shed. Install was lousy. Only automated messages in response to complaints. Promised contacts didnβt happen. No show when they did offer date to correct. Now emails bounce β no such addressβ . Shame on Home Depot for sponsoring such a company and even allowing them on their lot.
Great place to get average quality
Extremely long wait. Had 2 associates working on 3 different computers to give me $3.43 refund. That they told me they had to give me. If i was aware it was only $3.43 i would not have waited.

Weve been into this store two times in the past month. One time, I had to remind an employee who apparently couldnt hear me that his mask was best worn above his nose! Went in again last night and two employees had no masks (one pulled their shirt above their nose when they walked by). Several shoppers not wearing masks, which I believe is a requirement under governors orders. Unless Home Depot decides to hire employees (and offer appropriate compensation for such a position to enforce COVID guidelines), well take our business elsewhere!
They have decent stuff, just never the stuff in stock that the app says is. The app is wrong most of the time.
I go there a lot and they are helpful. Sometimes hard to find an available employee but they are friendly when you do interact with them.

Home depot is a warehouse with tools and boards. The one in Ellsworth is famous for never having employees on the floor. So if you need to buy something that you might need help with, try one of the local companies.

Very helpful staff person spent a great deal of time helping us look for a particular batch of flooring. We couldnt find it, but she arranged for us to get it at another HD on our way home. She went well beyond what most would do. The only reason I cant give 5 stars is the inventory foul up.

Cant find someone to help.
The employees are not wearing their masks. Most of them have it either on the chin or completely off. The few I saw with the mask on generally had it only on the mouth with their noses out. One or 2 actually cared about the outbreak and wire it correctly.

Found a fellow Senior in Plumbing who was able to find the right sink drain kit that could be adjusted to fit within existing PVC drains. Had lot of good resources on installing online because had done a similar project a year ago.

The lady at the door was friendly and I was able to find the landscaping cloth and composted manure easy enough. The cashier offered to have someone help me load my purchases into my car, which was nice.

Really bad customer service. Was trying to find a certain item. The employee was no help. He suggested that we go to Lowes. In the future I will use Home Depot as a last resort since that is their philosophy.

The home depot represented itself very poorly today. Customer service in the milling department was amateur hour. Very unwilling staff when it came to customer satisfaction. Then accused me of being a liar. Brought it to managers attention said theyd speak to the associate but honestly doubt anything will ever be done or said.
Home Depot as usual... pretty good selection, but not everything you might need. Small items such as screws, nuts & bolts may be packaged in bags so you get more than you need for more $s. Some, but not all, items are high quality, reasonably priced.

Lets just say after this last experience, we will drive to Bangor to Lowes. We have shopped here many times with no problems but we made the mistake of ordering a refrigerator from them. We ordered in person, with delivery set for the following Saturday. That morning, the delivery guy called to say the fridge was loaded but damaged. (He was very nice) so we said dont bother delivering. So we called Home Depot about it and were told wed hear within 24-48 hours. So, 48 hours passed and we never heard anything. We called again. Then they told us it would not be delivered for another two weeks from now! We found another place that would have the same fridge delivered tomorrow. So we decided to cancel the Home Depot order. We got someone and were put on hold for an hour. Gave up and called back and were told the had been canceled. They just never bothered to tell us. So we waited for an hour on the phone for nothing. This is just another example of businesses too big for their britches, no service, no communication. We may pick up nuts and bolts at Home Depot in the future but we will never order anything big that has to be delivered.

In past we have had decent service here, 5 years ago. Lately the past couple of times we use this store... not as great. Our latest customer experience was not good at all. Wade in delivery area is not at all in touch with what it takes for a customer service professional to help. We purchased a washer and waited the 10 days to get delivery. There was no call 24 hours before to confirm delivery window yet we showed as confirmed. Worried, that they could not leave unit on porch without a signature, I called to see if the delivery team (contracted) could stop on route and get signature. All Wade was concerned with was that the company (Atlantic Transport Services) did not answer phones after 4 PM and he could not do anything. After several attempts to find out what he COULD do, I was frustrated and finally got from him that he would call in the morning but he was not sure what he could do to help the situation (stated this over and over). I got off the call with Wade in Ellsworth store and looked up Atlantic Transport Services on the web and called their number. While it was a long hold time, there was a real person placing me on hold (apologies), and Randy was able to confirm about options and worked for success in getting my wifes machine delivered. Just a note and signature authorizing delivery was needed..... This gets worse for Home Depot Ellsworth..... Wade called my cell at 8:45 in the morning and leaves me a message that the delivery cant happen without someone there to sign, and states at this point the delivery would need to be re-scheduled, but it went out on truck so they could attempt with someone home. This new message I got during break at work and spent time calling the delivery team at Atlantic Transportation Services to confirm that all IS GETTING DELIVERED as was understood. Again, excellent customer experience with delivery teams company, thus 2 stars for Home Depot store. My family, and anyone I come in contact with about this store will be told to go to Bangor Home Depot, and avoid the lack of service from Ellsworth store.
