My wife and I and our 2 dogs hauled our 30 foot RV to Bar Harbor in the middle of September. It was a hellish time getting there as we experienced 3 camper tire blowouts on the way there! I always check my tires and pressures before heading out on the road and chalk this experience up to just plain bad luck. What should have taken us just 2 1/2 hours to get to Bar Harbor from our home in western Maine took 25 hours! By the time we made it to our campsite the stress levels were pretty elevated. Later in the week, we had a reservation to drive to the top of Cadillac Mountain. With the wife and dogs in the truck, we headed out to Acadia National Park with the anticipation of a beautiful day ahead of us. On the way to the park we came to an intersection whereas I applied my brakes to stop but the brake pedal went all the way to the floor and the brakes failed to grab properly. Not the best scenario for driving up and down a mountain. With no cell service near the park, we diverted from our destination and headed back into Ellsworth looking for a garage to provide emergency brake service. Found one such garage off the main thoroughfare so I pulled in with my stressed out wife and clueless dogs. I explained my emergency to him and he explained that he would gladly make an appointment for me for the following week! Since this was not a suitable option for me I asked him for directions to Midas. Shortly after pulling into the Midas parking lot, with my expectations very low, and my stress level very high, I was greeted at the counter by a very welcoming man ( I wish I had got his name). Long story short, Jason, the owner took my truck in right away, gave me a loaner car so I could bring my wife and dogs back to the campground while they ordered the correct part from Bangor, and called me a couple hours later to tell me that my truck was ready to be picked up. They just blew me away with their urgency in 1. making my emergency their priority, 2. their efficiency in diagnosing my problem (improper brake line install from a previous brake replacement 2 months prior by another shop), 3. their gracious offer of the loaner car, 4. the incredible prompt turnaround on the repair, and 5. the genuine personal service that I received from Jason and his team. Midas saved the remainder of our time in Bar Harbor and I felt very reassured in safely hauling our 3 plus ton RV trailer back home. Oh, and then there is the price of what we were charged which was probably a third of what a RAM dealer would have charged us. Thank you Jason your team.

When you see Midas you think “chain shop” but rest assured the folks at Ellsworth Midas hold theirselves to a high standard and feel more like a local shop than a national chain. Very pleased with the service I have had done here, the turnaround time and most of all the professionalism.

Over the last few years I have had the pleasure to do business with Darren at Midas in Ellsworth. I service all three of my families cars there from repairs to tires and have never left disappointed. They have a top shelf crew a clean and nice establishment with loaner car is if needed. Darren runs a good shop is very personable and cares a lot about his customers prices are very fair and I could not recommend this place or Darren and his crew anymore five stars it’s nice to have a business like this in a local community who cares so much about the people of that community. I have never taken a car to a Midas before, I know my cars and I love my cars. I take my cars to professionals.Yet when on vacation, the brake line on my trusty 4runner burst. So here we are with a truck with no brakes and two big dogs in the back; we called over a dozen shops in town pleading for anyone to replace our brake line. It is at worst an hour of work. We basically begged and offered to pay double the hourly just so we could get on the road but nobody was even willing to take a look until later in the week. Admittedly hesitantly my wife called Midas at around 4 pm and to our surprise they told us to come right over.I limped my brakeless truck to the shop and an hour later was out with a new brake line. Quick and painless repair with no crazy charges.So long story short is that if you are stranded while vacationing in Acadia, limp or tow your car here. These guys will help you out while others are turning their backs on you.

Kind easy affordable car care

Guys do a good, fairly priced oil change. When I went in for an inspection, they also did ball joints for me at a good price and well done.

Best price on studded snow tires and free tire rotation when getting an oil change that cost less than their competition next door??? You betcha FIVE STARS!!! Plus, they were totally professional. Oh, free coffee! I cant leave that out. (No dark roast, but I forgive you.)

So as far as prices go they are excellent but as far as bringing your car there with an unknown problem they will not spend the time and energy to try to figure out and fix the problem even with cash in hand. I brought my car there for a misfire asked the guys to check it out. They spent 20 minutes and came back telling me about my brakes need to be serviced when my brakes are just fine. I told him about the misfiring the mechanic says he felt it but he doesn’t know what it is because there’s not a check engine light on. They spent about another three minutes on at the front desk guy comes out and says because they didn’t experience it they cannot find the problem I tell them your mechanic clearly states he experienced it to please try some things I’m willing to pay. The outlet refused to do it and said if there’s not a check engine light on there’s nothing they will do. I tell them it’s under warranty But the warranty is up so I really need them to figure out what matter. Stay out right refused to help me in a rudeTone the guy at the front desk kept lying to me saying they did not experience it and then finally said if the check engine light is not on it is not real. I bring it to darlings in within an hour they tested my spark plugs like I asked and made us refuse to do because of my mileage on my car they said they would still be good they checked my compression and that was OK then they try to new coil pack that fixed it in my car is running like new now I ended up spending $357 at darling so Tone the guy at the front desk kept lying to me saying they did not experience it and then finally said if the check engine light is not on it is not real. Great and quick service every time.

My husband brought one of our cars, an older Mini here several times for service. They completely took advantage of my husband, claimed to fix our brakes....they charged for all 4, but only changed 2 and that was not even done properly as the brake shoes where loose and afloat. . They claimed to change brake lines....THEY DID NOT. A year later and less than 2000 miles on the car and it had to be done again. Charged us $600 to fix the power windows, we even paid for a new expensive part for this...Guess what? Still broken....no evidence of new parts. ABS light claimed fixed and charged us...NOT fixed...This place is a rip off artist joint. If they think they can screw you over they will. I’ve had three cars so far in my life and while I will take my car to other mechanics, if I can get my car to Midas I will. These guys have always consistently given me excellent service regardless of what kind of car I’m driving at the time. They are patient and more than willing to answer questions about what is wrong with the car and how to keep the car in good shape. Would definitely recommend!

Im not from the area Im here on vacation. And quite honestly I was expecting to wait a long time and pee a lot. But to my surprise I made an appointment the following day. I called to see if I could get in early and he said yeah bring it over! When I got there Jason practically met me in the parking lot and from there my truck went in I sat in the waiting room and before you know it my truck was fixed and I thought it was very reasonable in price. I think these guys have some integrity!

We had an emergency with our truck when the brake line burst in mid afternoon. They fit us in that afternoon and had it fixed in about an hour (slightly after closing time). It saved our vacation!

Not surprised to see high reviews for this Midas location. I’d like to show my appreciation for the guys at Midas of Ellsworth ME. I’ve been a loyal customer here for years but didn’t expect them to treat me with such great service. Our alternator went on our Corolla so they replaced it. The new alternator from Napa was faulty and the wheel and belt came of on the highway. We stopped at the next rest stop and called for a tow. When we didn’t immediately stop we apparently did damage to the engine. Napa said they would give us a new alternator but not pay for any engine damage because we didn’t immediately pull off to the breakdown lane. Midas was stuck in the middle. Knowing that it was a tough call. I have been bringing my cars there for many years and knowing of our family’s recent tragedy Midas said if we leave it with them for a few weeks they would try to fix it in their down time. And they did. Thank you so much Keith, Dick and everyone at Midas for coming through for us!!!

The service was very good. We got a synthetic oil change and tire rotation and it only cost about $50! At the oil change place we used to frequent it was $70 and they didnt rotate tires! Thanks

Went there with my husband mainly for oil change, the guy was so welcoming and informative. We got the oil changed within only 20 minutes which is really amazing especially for a visitor who doesnt have time for a long wait.Also we got a free diagnostic about the car where the mechanic took us inside the garage and showed us exactly what we needed to see. I would recommend the place!

Seems like they found a lot wrong with my truck that didnt really need fixing just to get it to pass inspection... They did loan us a car for a few hours however, which was nice.

Told me at 4:10 (they close at 5) that they didnt have time for an oil change and Id have to come back Monday. I went next door Instead and was in and out with no problems. It was a Friday. I think they just wanted to start their weekend.

Were very helpful and respectful, got things done in a timely manner. Also didnt have enough for the car fix so they worked a deal out with me in an installment of two different payments. I would highly reccomend.

I was on a weekend vacation with the kids. I started to hear the grinding of the front brakes. The kids couldnt wait to go up Mt. Cadillac. I needed a brake job fast. The guys at Midas fixed the front brakes fast at a fair price. And got us up and down the mountain safety.
