No stranger to this place! Love this store, but had to give only three stars as its surely not for ordinary folk on a budget for sure ! I wanted to buy a LOT, LOL ! My fiance wasnt impressed with the prices, though I explained to him its like shopping for any hobby .....its always way too expensive, but you absolutely know youre investing in good quality items and if youre not happy theyll let you return the item usually . So if you love to cook and need for example a new fry pan you best be saving your pennies ! OUCH !!!! 😒It would be nice to see a clearance and / or sale isle or two for those going through some harder times these days ... we like to cook etc. Too !!The only other thing I pick up on every time Ive come in, is when I have a question . I know theyre all busy, but for some reason theres a sense of snobbery with the ladies working behind the register and they can sound a bit gruff / impatient at times which makes me and any other customer very uncomfortable . So hope that changes as I try not to interrupt when other customers are being tended to and I sometimes have felt their idle chit chat amongst themselves is more important than the customer standing there waiting to be acknowledged, as Ive also observed .On the whole, its a beautiful store, always has been since shopping there throughput the years when I use to live in Ellsworth . But living so far now, it was rather disappointing not getting what wed set out to get because prices were so high .

Great shop! Lower level has more food items and upper level is jam packed with all sorts of cooking and baking and culinary related items. Well organized but you could spend a good deal of time looking at it all. Loved the oatmeal and cranberry cookies! Now that I am home, I am craving them! Parking is just left of the building and drops to another lot below and behind that. It can be easy to miss the entrance as it is near a traffic light and crossing over can be dangerous given the slight curve in the road and oncoming traffic may be difficult to see. Parking can also be tricky if it is a busy day and manueving with incoming and outgoing traffic in the small upper level parking.

Absolutely wonderful selection of quality kitchen goods for the cook in your home. Very friendly staff. I loved the linen selection. This will be my new go to for such items as I prefer to support a local business over a corporate conglomerate. They have a very organized Covid-19 protocol to keep everyone safe. Cannot wait to visit again!

Best place to buy kitchenware. I never leave empty handed. During the warmer months there is a discount and closeout section on the upper floor of the building. The only carry the highest quality products. Everything Ive bought has lasted at least 7 to 10 years or more.

Rooster Brother is one of my favorite places on the planet. Great coffee, great deli, amazing treats and imported foods and dont even get me started on the cooking supplies. And of course, the folks working here are so lovely and kind. Whenever I get a little break from being a mom on a Saturday, I go to Rooster Brother for a brioche sandwich, cappuccino and as much chocolate as I can fit into the basket. I love this place!

I think you have a lovely store, but I think it is ludicrous that you do not take cash or a check because these have to be handled. Yet you take the merchandise from the person to get the price, then further handle it by putting it in the bag and then handing the person the receipt. I saw a woman sneeze, she pulled her mask down, sneezed again all over a cookbook that she was going to purchase then go up to the register and hand it over to your staff to ring in and then they put it in a bag and handed her a receipt. You have lost a customer in me as I had cash and checks with me, I had left my debit card in my other jacket pocket, and I was prepared to buy a new skillet and linens for my table and some spring items. Seriously? Your behavior is what is wrong - and that older woman behind the register acted like everyone had the plague so not only was it a waste of people’s time going in there, Yor staff were condescending as well. Good luck! I will be telling all my friends not to shop with you. It’s a shame but you aren’t thinking at all of your customers.

If I could rate the coffee only, Id give it 6 stars. The coffee is excellent - several varieties that I tried were excellent. Fresh brewed, great flavor. (And yes I drink it black.)The store is nice, some of the stuff is a bit overpriced. The upstairs area is mostly knick-knacks that you can get at similar Maine/BH area gift shops.Downstairs has some nice (although small) selections of wines, cheeses and breads. Staff is friendly, but very busy.COVID-19 update - While the store sign asks for facemasks, the store itself is very tight (no way to socially distance) and they do not limit the number of people they allow in.

Overwhelmed! Nice shop. Tons of cooking/baking items. Pretty much anything a cook could need. So many things, though, that its pretty narrow and very visually busy. I was not looking for anything particular, so ended out wandering aimlessly. Went downstairs for coffee and a cookie before we left. They also offer light lunch items and have a little wine and deli area. Baked goods were very good. Coffee was very strong. (I like a milder blend, so went for the medium--rather than the bold or dark roast--but still found it VERY strong.) Great if you like strong coffee. Nice little picnic tables near the river, so a sweet place to have your coffee and sweet treat.

Gotta go to the ROOSTER! They roast their own coffee beans, bake their own breads and have a wonderful deli. All of that is just the 1st level. On the 2nd floor, everything an inspiring chef could ever want is available at your fingertips. If it has to do with cooking, prepping, serving or just eating food, they have it. Now heres the REAL TREASURE, the 3rd floor or attic. Its only open on Friday and Saturday, but the bargains are worth the walk up the stairs. Its a savings bonanza galore! If all that isnt ENUFF, then the icing is grab yourself a coffee and sandwich from the deli after youve shopped and enjoy it at a picnic table next to the historical Union River which runs through Ellsworth.
