Small shop with a decent selection of lenses, used cameras, and film across multiple formats. The prices on the film were very reasonable but the person who rung me up did not seem to have much experience actually using the film. But Im still happy because I was able to pick up some film only a couple bucks more than it would have cost online and several dollars cheaper than other brick-and-mortar places.
This is one of the only places that sells film and film cameras and will develop film.Dont be fooled by any of these 1 star reviews. Gary is great, but he isnt a salesman and he isnt going to dote on you from a customer service perspective. He knows his stuff and will help you but be patient. He will warm up to you if you have a calm demeanor.I think people expect service here as if it was a restaurant. This is not a restaurant, its a small family business. When you come into the small shop, act as if you are in your neighbors house.Be polite, wait your turn, introduce yourself and they will treat you right.Personally, Im very grateful to have this small business in our community.
Long time local business, great availability of old equipment, processing and film options. Does photo restorations.
Nice little camera shop. Decent selection of 35mm film stock. For how small the store is. Its actually stocked nicely and probably have what youre looking for.
Great service. Really nice people.
Encinitas Camera is a store where you can count on integrity and quality. Ive done business with Gary and Cecilia for over 20 years and anyone who claims they arent experts has probably been overwhelmed by the bs you get when you go to the overpriced camera shops where the sales staffs work on commission only. Now more than ever, its time to support local businesses. The big box stores are cool if you want to save money on groceries and flashlights. In terms of service and good, reliable information, Ill take Encinitas Camera over the expensive La Jolla camera store and the big chain camera clearing house (the name starts with an S) any day.
Cool shop for inexpensive old manila focus lenses
My cousin and i went here so i could buy my first film camera, and i was glad that theres near at least by escondido because the other ones are so far from my house, but the old guy who spoke to us just made us feel so uncomfortable. he asked what do we need and how we are, then at the end of our conversation. He told us to be a good girls. And thats just made us uncomfortable, i didnt even get to buy my film camera cause of how uncomfortable we were at that time.I was really glad when theres a film camera store nearby but that kind of customer service is just, not for us.
Great little shop in Encinitas. Very good quality film processing!
Kinda the same story as others Ive seen on here. Been to the store a couple times and always got what I needed. Recently went to buy a film camera however and the owner was quite rude. I was looking for some advice on the different cameras he had, but didnt get any real info. He seemed so annoyed to be asked to do his job and I left empty-handed. This is not a business I would want to support.
While living in North County, I exclusively visited this photo center for all of my film developing needs. They sent it out-of-house, but local. Their service was always excellent, and the two owners were kind enough to teach me how to use my analogue camera and how to remove and insert the film.
I volunteer at a local Nature Center. One of our visitors ask me for advice on what type of binoculars to buy for bird watching, and where to shop. Told her I was no expert, and sent her to you guys. She sent me a glowing email about how much she enjoys the binoculars you recommended, the advice you gave her, and the way she was treated. Thank you for once again making me look so good.
Great service. Took my Nikon in for a cleaning. My local camera shop (Tampa) cleaned it a while back and left some dirt in the view finder saying he couldnt get it out. Well, these guys did. And provided some great advice. Highly recommend.
Came in today wanting to give them my business and the male staff member today was awful. One of the poorest customer service experiences Ive had in a while. I was looking for a new lens, gave him all the information I was looking for and he was so unhelpful and clearly did not care about my questions. I mentioned it was time sensitive because I wanted the lens for a project today and he still didnt care, he said you can just bring your camera in; as if he knew nothing about photography. He clearly didnt care about my business. So now I will never go back for any of my camera needs, I will be giving my business elsewhere and make sure to tell everyone else I know into photography the same.
Very rude on the phone, clearly annoyed to have to talk to customers.
Just went into there shop today to have my camera repaired. Sadly, it did not look like it would be able to be fixed. However, she offered some great advice and after a few more tries I was able to fix my camera like she described. Very knowledgeable, thank you!
Came in to purchase binoculars for my husband for Fathers Day. Had to ask the man sitting at a back computer for help. He was busy ignoring another customer in there too. Seriously could not have been more disinterested in selling us something. Im talking about a $200 pair of binoculars here, not a stick of gum. I asked a couple of questions and he could barely answer me. Must be awful to be such a miserable store owner. I went and purchased the binoculars on Amazon as there wasnt a chance I was giving this rude, disinterested, completely unhelpful man my hard earned $$$$.
A rare gem loaded with good advice, information, and patient instruction. Decent pricing too!
Disgustingly rude shop keepers with no technical expertise or knowledge to speak of. Make no mistake, these people are by no means photographers or camera experts. They are salesmen pure and simple. If they cant shame and humiliate you into buying the merchandise they need to move, they simply throw up their hands and play the victim. Poor me! You wont help me make my commission! Obviously your an amateur! No real photographer would dare not to buy what I demand of them. I know all! Everyone mock and degrade this lowly piece of filth who dared to come to my store! If their sickening, drunken, frat boy mentality isnt enough to rob your life of any meaning, they have very little selection, and what they do have is monsteroudly overpriced. They arent even consistent with prices on their merchandise. One LED light was priced at $79, while the same model, on the same rack was $59. On sale? No, just lazy price marking. Oopsies! It just goes to show you how little effort these monstrous cheats put into the shop.Do not give these charlatans your business. You can get everything in their store on Amazon for far less! Dont for a moment be deceived into thinking that buying here is supporting a small business. Its supporting a group of swindlers who somehow manage to keep their shelves stocked and afford the rent on a brick and mortar store by marking their prices way up and bullying people into making purchases. If you are a victim of sexual assault, prepare to be harassed and humiliated to the point where you have flashbacks. Thats no exaggeration! They are that brutal and that desperate to make a sale.
Wide range of new and used cameras, plus they really know their stuff. The owner was really helpful!
They are super rude to beginners. I brought my friend there to look at film cameras and I’ve never been embarrassed for suggesting a retailer but I guess there is a first for everything.Ok place to get film developed.
Wonderful. Corrected color, so much nicer.
Great prices for sensor cleaning and overall cleaning on my wifes t3i. Quick turn around with friendly staff.
If I could give negative stars I would. I have grown up in Encinitas and have been going to this place on and off for many years. The reason I have continued to go there is because there are limited options in Encinitas. Ritz closed down as have others. I really try to support all local businesses and will always spend a bit more to do so. However today was the absolute last time I will ever go in there. The lady in there is very nice and always has been so half of my visits are good. The problem is I was dealing with Gary in there today. Every time I go in I feel like I am rolling the dice on getting him or her. So it was a simple task that he did take care of but being the novice photographer that I am I asked him a very simple question. I knew in my heart and soul from past dealings that I shouldnt even bother with a question because I am always met with condescension and a lack of any friendliness or patience. Basically, he always makes me feel like an idiot and I am far from an annoying customer. His tone and demeanor after I asked my simple question (how do I remove the lint behind my viewfinder?) was that of total disgust. I had finally had enough of this guy and told him that I was a long time customer and that I really try to support local but always feel belittled in his shop. He immediately got crazy. I kid you not, the following is completely true. He called me a big baby. He told me to get more self esteem. He said if I own my own business I can also treat people however I want to. He also asked if I watch Seinfeld and he compared himself to George Castanza and he stated we are just having fun here right? This story cant be made up. I live in Encinitas, pay taxes here, work here, born and raised here, want to keep it as soul as possible and try to support only the local shops but this guy is the worst business owner I have ever dealt with in town in 36 years. I certainly told him how I felt just so it doesnt appear like I am hiding behind the anonymity of a keyboard. I should have followed my gut instinct every time I began to head to that shop but I guess I was too lazy to drive out of town to patronize a different photo store. Like I said earlier however, the lady is always nice in the store so if you go in there try to get her to help...or better yet go elsewhere.
Dont waste you time here. Go to nelson photo in little italy, a bit of a drive but WELL worth it.
Great and excellent service!
Great local photo store for both new and used lens.
The guy was “so busy” that he was running and not nice at all! But, for the other side, he knows exactly what I need it.
Have been in many times just looking, never felt unwelcomed. Knowledgeable, helpful staff. Went in today and came out with a great deal on an old Contax film camera with a Zeiss 1.7 50mm lens. They had the adaptor for my Canon SL1 and this combo works extremely well.
Super Knowledge, great prices, a real camera and photo shop
Over priced, all old equipment! Not worth the trip!
We had a photo shoot and our batterirs were dead and I found them through Google and went there bought the battery and they even charged it up for me and we finished the shoot and only because they had that specific battery.
