We drove all the way across Denver to try this place out and Im glad we did. They offer grooming services for exotic birds that we desperately needed as we just moved to the area. The selection of birds is fantastic and they have a very wide variety of toys and feed. The service was very friendly with a big smile.
I take my Africa grey to be groomed plus I just purchased a cockatoo and they resumed a bird for me. I have always been treated with respect and all questions are answered readily. This store has spoiled me so that I wouldnt think of going anywhere else. The word I misspelled was regime a bird for me. Thank you Exotic Birds.
Great little shop! Super helpful and friendly staff. Very knowledgeable. Great variety of bird care and entertainment items.
My fiance and I went there on Wednesday with an appointment to hopeful find a conure to add to our family and the whole experience was amazing. Dave was so helpful and took us back to see the available ones. He let us take two out and get to know them in his grooming room so it was a little quieter for them. He didnt bother us or try to force us to purchase a bird he actually let us have time to see if we bonded with any. We ended up choosing a pineapple green cheek and he told us that the baby would be ready Friday. He told me I didnt have to pay for the whole bird up front I could put a deposit down and pay the remaining upon pickup which was really nice. He was super helpful going over the sales contract and how to properly feed and actually took the time to go over good foods vs. bad foods. When I went to go pick up our new baby he had it waiting up front for our appointment and helped us pick out toys and food that would last us a couple months. The baby (unknown gender so no name yet) is settling in nicely so far and is already playing with one of the toys he suggested and already ate a little as well. Ill definitely be coming back for more toys and when we need to refill on food. Thank you Dave!
My girlfriend and I went in just to see a couple of birds. The staff are all friendly and knowledgeable about all species of birds. They will teach you how to train, feed, and discipline your animal before your purchase, which I find extremely convenient since we have no previous experience with birds. I would suggest for anyone interested in birds to check out this company before making any decisions
It is an awesome store. Well trained and beautiful birds. Owner is a great.
It was very good and had a lot of good items bird food was nice and treated animals good
Pretty Impressed with their work. Love the birds. Hopefully, I would get the birds we want soon.
Thank God for Exotic Birds of Denver the only place in Denver to look out for and buy things for our new Parrot we purchased there from Dave the owner. Competent staff and extremely knowledgeable, great place for all your bird needs. Been bird owners for over 36 years, with the passing of our old Parrot we missed all the noise so we bought a baby Parrot from Exotic Birds of Denver. Thank you Dave and staff, always a pleasure going there!!
Fast grooming. Can handle my mean Macaw no problem. Great service!
You can tell that everyone there loves birds, we felt very comfortable boarding our birds there. After more than a month of boarding, our birds were still very happy and healthy. Thanks!Monroe
I walked in having no idea what to get for my new budgie and walked out feeling really confident in my choices. Great little store, really helpful staff
Amazing. Knowledgeable staff and beautiful birds. Loved my experience here.
Lots of good stuff. Very knowledgeable staff. Parrots. Bulk foods. Toys and treat. Nice local store. Buy local, helps small businesses.
Amazing place, got our new feathered family member here. Wonderful people that have a beautiful place for feathered friends to grow and interact with future families. They are taken care of so well here and truly cared about. We drove from Grand Junction just to come here and would recommend anyone else the same. Our beloved Ami is healthy and well socialized.
The owner is very knowledgeable, the birds are just gorgeous and so very sweet natured.
The birds they have are beautiful and well taken care of. The people are always helpful and friendly and keep the store clean and organized.
This is where I board my babies. This is the #1 one stop exotic avian shop in Denver (and likely Colorado as a whole). This is where I go to enrich my feathered children’s lives with high quality food and an extensive exotic avian education via Dave. He rocks! Wonderful experience every visit, and I will continue to support this amazing establishment!
I recently purchased the sweetest baby cockatiel from here. She is an absolute delight! Dave made sure I was educated on how to feed and care for her way before I took her home. She eats her veggies and actually taught my other cockatiel (purchased elsewhere) that veggies and pellets are pretty tasty! I recommend the diets they have their birds on. I transitioned my other cockatiel onto it and shes glowing! Also I think the baby has a slight conure accent which I find hilarious.
I went in and was immediately helped to find some great toys and treats for my Budgie
My bird got stolen from these people, we left it at the shop to have it taken care of while we were moving and they sold it with in a hour of being there. We never got our money back and was making down payments on another bird... never got our money back for anything and no apology. Horrible just awful 😞
Purchased a cockatiel. Super great people who helped me get started with my bird.
The staff is so knowledgeable & kind. Very friendly & patient with my questions. They raise very friendly gentle birds. Thank you for “Simon” (Green Cheek Pineapple) he’s making a wonderful addition to our family.
It was very fun! They had lots of interesting toys, cages, and birds. They even let me hold a bird and explained to me who to contact if I wanted a bird and how to go through with that, (costs, type of bird.) They were very nice workers.
Made an appointment a few months ago as we wanted to purchase a cockatiel for my daughter. The lady that helped us was nice the owner was not he totally ignored us as if weren’t even there. The lady told us she’d put us on a waitlist for a bird and we never heard back from them. Even tried calling them and never got an answer. I have read other reviews about prejudice and I think they’re right as we are Hispanic.
Really enjoyed our visit. The people were very friendly and knowledgeable. Make sure to call ahead and set a time if you intend to bird shop or for grooming. Definitely people who care and you can tell their birds are very well taken care of.
We bought two lovebirds, and are very happy with the service. Dave helped us out, and was very helpful and kind(he also had a wonderful sense of humor). We never felt uncomfortable in the building, it always had a welcoming(and noisy because of all the birdies) environment. We got everything we needed, and all the information we needed to know as starter bird parents. 😁👍
I rarely post reviews, only when a situation is very bad or I feel it can happen again, so please read so the same doesnt happen to you.I went in today with my fiancee to look at bird accessories, we have two baby Alexandrines coming early next month and wanted to stock up on toys, food and supplies, and get advice on a cage and possibly purchase it there. The door has signs that you cannot handle any birds at the moment, and that you must wear a mask given the current virus situation (understandable)-- my fiancee and I were both wearing a mask.Super excited (like new parents would be for their baby birds that will soon come), we walk into the store (it was empty with no customers) and Dave, the owner asks if we needed help with anything. We said We are just browsing thank you and he promptly replied in a rude tone: Well we are not allowing browsing right now with the current situation, Im by appointment only so if you need help Ill help you but if not were not allowing browsing so.... Disappointed we made our way out of the store. While true, the virus situation is bad, but thats partially the reason we even came out, to show support. Keep in mind the store was empty, it wasnt even a situation of social distancing. Maybe take the time and update your website, Dave, or post another sign on the door, or maybe just be less rude and with less of an arrogant tone, we would have gladly made an appointment. Keep in mind its people like us who keep your small business afloat, given your store prices are usually 20-30% more expensive then online. On a side note please do help small businesses that actually need it like this one we went to right after:We went a few blocks down to Everything Birdie, they are a bit smaller but had great customer service and really need the business, as they may be forced to shut down. Please go check them out and help them stay open.
Ive loved this store for a long time. Unfortunately this recent grooming experience left me disappointed. We usually go to All Things Birdy for our parrot but she was busy, so we came here.During the grooming, the groomer seemed a bit aggressive which stressed our bird out more, he wasnt very calming. He left the dremel running while it was not in use, he had to clip one of my birds nails which resulted in him bleeding, which I understand can happen but weve never experienced that with our regular groomer. He put some bleed stop on it and sent us out. I ended up having to go back into the store because my birds foot would not stop bleeding. I paid 20 dollars for my bird to bleed and be stressed for the rest of the day. Im disappointed in this experience from a store I love so dearly.
Wonderful shop! Tons of toys and foods. Loving hand fed birds that you can tell want to be with people, and he says the birds normally are all out so theyre good with other birds. And they know their stuff from the typical behaviors to the ease of ownership. Just wish the babies were cheaper 😁😉
Good collection of exotic birds. Its a really loud store but thats a good thing cause it means the birds are happy.
I may go to the store if they dont require a mask
We purchased a cockatiel for our daughter from exotic birds of Denver. All I can say is: this place is amazing! Dave (the owner) is such a cool guy. The staff is kind and considerate. They all care about every single feather on every bird that is in the shop (weather boarding, selling, or grooming) it’s clean (which *should* go without saying, but I’ve never been in another “bird” shop)- our Cockatiel wasn’t weened from her baby food when we purchased her so we were on a “visiting schedule” for a bit. it was a joy to visit every day until she was ready to come home. “Elvis” the Amazon Parrot fell in love with my husband. Apparently that doesn’t happen much for “Elvis” (he has a story) - we plan on going back to visit him soon, but if you go in; be sure to tell “Elvis” we said hello. ANYWAY- this is a 5-star establishment!
Excellent experience getting my Budgies beak and nails trimmed. Dave was very friendly and knowledgeable. The staff was so friendly and caring with the birds and customers. The customers interaction with the staff was like they were friends and family which leads me to believe people come back and and trust them! I will continue to bring my business here with all my Birdie needs! Thanks Exotic birds of Denver!
Very knowledgeable people. Great prices on food and accessories. Lots of stuff for all your birds needs.
We got our amazing feather baby here! The owner knows his stuff and is always willing to spend the time with you to answer any questions you may have. Even though there are bird stores closer to us we will always go out of our way to go to Exotic Birda of Denver!
Wonderful birds ; great care, good staff ; !
Dave, the owner, is always friendly. The staff is knowledgeable and truly cares about the birds. Their food selection is always varied and cost is reasonable.
Excellent knowledgeable caring staff! Great selection of food and toys at wonderful prices. They even offer bird grooming services and do an amazing job! I am one happy customer! If you hav a bird or are planning on being a bird parent, this is the place for you!
Everyone is very helpful and knowledgeable, especially the owner Dave. I visited multiple times before we brought our baby home. It was nice to see how all of the birds were kept, cared for, fed etc before making the choice to buy. They also have a large selection of supplies including cages, perches, food, and toys. Definitely worth your time to check out!
By far my favorite bird store. They have great dried fruits & nut mixtures that are for sure fresh.Plus a super friendly staff.Do yourself a favor and let them do your grooming, birds have long memories😉
My spouse and I have been looking to buy a bird for a really long time and haven’t found the right place until now! Here at exotic birds of Denver the staff is friendly and full of information and the birds here are amazing! They have tons of selections and also let the guest interact with the birds. The prices for the birds are very reasonable and they may be willing to work with you. If you are looking to purchase a bird I’d definitely recommend checking this place out!
This place is one of most amazing places Ive been in. The staff is so knowledgeable and so welcoming when walking in the door. They make you feel at home and it is wonderful. The bird play room is definitely the best part! I could live all day in there. If your looking for people that know what theyre doing and what theyre speaking on please go see Dave and his wonderful staff at Exotic Birds of Denver!
If youre looking for experts with birds this is the place!
Very knowledgeable staff and friendly
I think we talked to a guy named Ron. He was fairly new and didnt know all the answers to our questions but knew all the birds and what they liked. He was extremely kind and very welcoming and talkative. We didnt feel rushed to leave or anything. The selection was okay Ive seen kinder birds and their diet wasnt ideal and could contribute to their attitude. I will be returning for grooming, boarding (they take good care of peoples birds and away from public fingers) and to inquire about a baby grey or galah when they have them.
Love this place second time I have visited from Texas. Staff is pretty friendly and knowledgeable about exotic birds. I am also very thankful that they have a flight room, and seem to really care for the birds very much instead of just getting them out the door to make money. Very cool place!
Adopt dont shop. Birds are not well taken care of here and most people who sell birds are all about the money. Parrots are incredibly intelligent and need a lifetime of companionship and enrichment, not to be bought and sold like furniture. GO TO GABRIEL FOUNDATION and support them. An amazing organization.
We purchased an adult cockatiel from this store. The ladies who helped us and introduced us to the birds were very nice, informative and you could tell they truly care for the birds. We absolutely fell in love with Chewy now named Wizard. He is healthy, happy and an absolute joy. I recommend this store for anyone looking for a trustworthy parrot place. Thank you Exotic Birds of Denver for the bird we always dreamed of.
Love this place to get our bird trimmed up. And love all the toys for our bird.
The staff there is AMAZING! I am only 14 so I cant exactly have a bird until I have a job, but they didnt mind me going in their bird room and just hanging out with the birds! The staff is very helpful, but not clingy. They dont hover over you or constantly try to sell you a bird. The birds are beautiful and well socialized along with being very well taken care of! Great experience!
The old man working there is amazing, hell show you around. They have good supply of birds and if theyre low the guy will tell you whats coming when so you can get the parrot you want. Nice cages and all kinds of bird food and accessories too.
We were promptly greeted and set an appointment easily for the weekend.
We had never had our bird boarded and were nervous but all of the staff fell in love him and it seemed like they were very attentive! They even took him out of his cage from time to time! Our bird doesnt like a lot of people but he seemed very pleased when we picked him up. We will definitely use their service again!
Dave and Marney (Im so sorry if I didnt spell that right), there arent enough words to explain how amazing these two are.. We have boarded our birds there (ruby the eclectus and Paulie the blue crown). And we just took home today our new Congo African grey (qwazzi moto) and our new kariki ( I remembered Dave Lol).. We couldnt be happier.Dave truly cares so much for all of his birds. And we really appreciate his shop more than we can express. My daughter and husband are so happy with our new feather kids. Thank you guys for being just top notch. If you need a bird? Cage? Stand? Toys? Food? Boarding? Grooming? THIS IS THE PLACE!! ONE STOP SHOP!!! 10000 STARS!!!
This place is amazing, you always get taken care of promptly, the staff is friendly and very helpful, and the birds they have are always really happy, best place in denver for birds, and youll actually get accurate information here. I been to other shops were the employees had no clue the diet for their birds. The employees here helped me adjust the diet for my conure that was starting to get attitude problems and my conures attitude problem definitely got fixed
If I could give them no stars I would..... what I thought was an honest and caring relationship based from the bird that we bought they were supposed to let our cockatiel Charlie stay there and Rob promised he would take care of Charlie until we got moved because the moving and the boxes was stressing Charlie out I then received a call a few days after leaving Charlie there to be told that the owner Dave sold Charlie to somebody else so they stole my bird my baby! My daughter was devastated as was I! Just make sure that you have a paper trail of anything that you do when you leave your beloved family member with them I thought Rob was our friend but instead he was a traitor! We were deeply deeply hurt by this experience....
My daughter and I purchased a 5 month conure. She became one of the family in no time. My 5 & 7 yr olds love her. It was a good experience at the store. Tons of questions and were there a long time before we made a decision. Staff was extremely helpful and Dave even put together what is now Peaches home. Very knowledgeable staff.
It was fun to walk around and see and interact with the birds! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.
The staff is always great. The birds are well taken care of and everything is clean. My favorite bird store in Denver.
My sister bought me a surprise Christmas present here about 4 years ago. A lovebird and her name is Tinkerbell :o) Ive been back several times and its a great place. When Im looking for another bird in the future Ill come here. Tinkerbell is such a sweet bird - she was raised right!
This is my grandpa bird shop and he takes great care of these bird we have had many before and they are in such great health Dave is the owner of the shop( my grandpa) and he has wonderful staff yall should go check it out they are all friendly people and will get you what u need in no time
I love our princess of whales parakeet. Thank you very rude, prejudice
This is the best place to purchase quality birds. They work with you every step of the way to help you learn how to care for and handle your new pet/family member and are always available to answer any questions you may have. I especially appreciate that they give you contact information on a veteranarian that takes care of birds because they can be difficult to find. They also board birds.
The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. They make sure you find what youre looking for and recommend other places if they dont have it.
Had beak grooming done on amazon. Dave is knowledgeable with 20 yrs experience.
Love coming into this place. The birds look Heathy and the place is really clean. Great customer service and extremely informative. Thank you for the help with my African Grey
So far Im happy, I am lodging my bird, hoping all is well. The gal who got me and my bird set up, is knowledgeable and kind. The owner is great, he is very helpful and they are amazing!
Amazing people who really care about the bird families they serve instead of their bottem line. Best place for all your feathered friend needs! Great prices and wonderful people! We love this place!
Everyone here has been nothing but wonderful, helpful and sweet!!! They have a large selection of birds from Macaws to Cockatiels and they take great care of their babies! They also have a ton of bird supplies and pellets in bulk. Love them!
I love this place. See birds that are flighted in the aviary. Dave and Rob really care for the birds, you can tell. Theyre very knowledgeable and always willing to answer your questions. Good selection of food and toys for your feathered friend.
One of my favorite places to go! Dave has groomed our cockatoo and takes time to answer any questions I may have! They have the healthiest birds in town!
I have purchased 3 birds from here. My birds are beautiful and have excellent demeanors. they are the only aviary I have dealt with that truly care about their birds. Allison is so knowledgeable and an asset to the store. I recently spoke with her regarding an issue I was having with a bird. I live in wyoming with no avian vets near by. She gave me suggestions to possible issues and names of vets she rerecommend. She was very concerned and truely cared about my bird.
Love this store soooo much!!!
Dave is amazing wealth of knowledge. You can tell he really cares about birds. I couldnt imagine taking my little guy to anyone else.
Rod was my sales person and we had a great experience! He knows birds. Beautiful selection of birds at this store. Will be returning for other services! 5 Stars!!!
A bit too long wait to get help. Good selections.
Had grooming on my little bird groomed. The owner did a good job. Also purchased some pellets.
No way I would ever walk in that dirty store again. One time I went in there, there was a forlorn-looking blue crown conure. I asked to see it, and the owner grabbed the bird by the tail and dragged him out! There were bugs in the food. Good heavens. People really should do their research before buying birds or supplies. I will second the review below regarding The Gabriel Foundation. It is a WONDERFUL non-profit that takes excellent care of their birds. Adopt from them - there are many choices. And get your supplies elsewhere.
Excellent place and Dave and his staff are very knowledgeable and friendly👍👍👍
Owner meet me at the door. Answer all my questions. Had a friendly smile and a handshake. Clean, clean store.
My go to shop for my girls. Excellent food, toys, cages, and perches. My rescued cockatiels health improved dramatically with the food I bought here. Its always a blast coming here to get food.
I have two rescue cockatiels who both suffered from physical abuse with previous owners, and thus, do not like being physically handled, especially by other people. While this has made grooming very unpleasant in the past, I would highly recommend the grooming services provided by Dave and the rest of the team at the Exotic Birds of Denver. The beak/nail grooming was done with high grade grooming tools, which resulted in a quick, painless, high quality experience. Additionally, the mobile grooming service helped to minimize stress for the birds by keeping them in a familiar environment.I have been in the store as well, and while I do not personally support bird breeding operations, the store seemed relatively well-kept and offered a very wide selection of food, toys, etc. I would certainly recommend the store over any of the local chain pet stores, and I believe the staff truly does care about and have a passion for birds.
I am in my car leaving this place after just spending time in the bird room. The lady who works here with the black hair is fantastic. We were there for a long while just enjoying the birds until the owner was handling a macaw on the boarding side. He was very dominantly telling the bird to step up, and as the bird stepped up he started biting at him and the owner started hitting the macaw in the head 3 or more times and threw him down. The owner immediately looked to see if we saw him and its obvious he knew that what he did was wrong. After it was back in its cage, and the owner walked out, the lady with the black hair immediately went to check on the bird. At first I thought this place was really awesome, but after seeing that happen I am absolutely disgusted. This was on 10/31/2018. I understand you dont want to be bit by one..but it was very obvious the bird was uncomfortable to begin with and he forced that bird into that position. That was absolutely horrid to see happen and I highly suggest you dont board your bird here.
Great quality birds, supplies and grooming! Always a superlative experience! Reasonable boarding rates, clean establishment!
The birds were fun, it was very clean, and the staff was knowledgeable and friendly.
Incrediblr place and wonderful people. So kind and helpful
Dave, the proprietor, is very helpful and friendly! Has almost everything you could need for your exotic pet bird!
