Knowledeable, helpful, honest staff. Today the store manager resolved a problem I was having with my camera, saving me time & money in repairs. Thank you, Kyla! The Shutterbug will price-match any Canon authorized dealer as well as Nikon, etc. They will give you a fair trade on your used, well-maintained gear. We are lucky to have this camera store here in Eugene.
Manager Dave is amazing. Great customer service. Highly recommend..
Called and they were able to get the camera I wanted from their Salem store and picked it up in less than 24 hours from the time I called! Knowledgeable and helpful staff. Thank you!
They went way above and beyond the level of service expected, They helped me aquire a camera and accessories for my level of use, also helped with accessories and their knowledge was top shelf, I walked out with a complete sat up, and happy with the results, I look forward to renting lenses for my use in Photographing covered bridges, and waterfalls. They have the right stuff
Good customer service but a bit pricey.
Excellent place for random accessories, or to drool over the latest gear.
Nice people, very informative
Bought a Sony camera along with a couple lenses here. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Very satisfied!
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Had a great experience making my purchase.
Joey was super helpful & has great customer service. I called The Shutterbug in hopes to put an end to my decision in getting the A6000 or D750. Within minutes, not only did I know which camera I wanted, but I had gotten more information about these cameras than I had in the entire week of researching! Very happy with my experience:) 10/10
The Shutterbug on Coburg road has provided me excellent customer service on multiple occasions. The staff has been experienced, helpful, and kind which has been beneficial to me in my photography endeavors.
Id given up on photography when the film era ended, but wanted to take photos for a published author friends new book. Digital it had to be. I went to Eugene to Shutterbug and talked with Kyla for a long time, then went to lunch, came back with my decision and in another hour left with the camera and the gear that I needed. She was absolutely wonderful, very patient, and had answers to all my questions as I updated myself. When I need more gear, this will always be my first stop. It was a wonderful experience.
The employees at the Valley River location are awesome! I went in to check out some of their small clearance items after Christmas and they had a lot of good stuff. I ended up chatting with the associates for quite a while about cameras and photography. They showed me some lenses that would work with my camera and improve my photos. Definitely saving up now to get one (or maybe even a couple) to take my personal photography to the next level. 10/10 would recommend any beginner or advanced level photographer to stop in and see whats available!
I came in asking for help today with my memory cards and the staff was very helpful & knowledgeable.Thank you!!
Courteos staff, willing to listen and then to offer very good advice and help. No pushy sales. We were pleased and will follow up. They even offer free classes built into the purchase price of the cameras. It show they care and want the best out of your purchasr
Bought a bunch of 35mm film here yesterday, prices not as cheap as Amazon but they are one of the few places carrying what I was looking for. Employee couldnt directly answer my questions about their stock of film but was helpful nonetheless. Found out they rent gear which is useful info. Seems to carry mostly Cannon, Nikon, & some Sony E-mount gear. Some audio gear intended for use while shooting video, a couple pieces of used gear.
UPDATE: APRIL 22, 2020Editing this review to share my experience with a major purchase (Nikon 200-500mm). First, a correction - The Shutterbug DOES rent gear, contrary to what my original review stated. The rates are competitive and the inventory varies across stores, so its a good idea to call first. Although I planned on first renting a Nikon D500, a Nikon 200-500 and a Tamron 150-600 G2 before committing to a purchase, they do not rent / sell the D500 or Tamron lenses. All the same, I received expert, unbiased technical advice over the phone. I purchased the Nikon 200-500 for these reasons:- As a Nikon dealer, this purchase comes with a 5-year warranty, unlike buying it used, which would offer a 6-month protection from the seller (not Nikon). Important, given the recent quality control issues with Nikon.- They not only matched the rates of online stores (without being asked to), but offer the benefit of being able to test the new lens before swiping my card ... copy variation is a reality in this industry.- They offer a payment plan with zero interest if paid back within a year.Between this transaction and my prior visits, I have had a chance to interact with all staff at the Coburg Rd store. They all have tremendous expertise, and acted with the intent of helping me, rather than making a sale. I cannot praise this store enough.========ORIGINAL REVIEW, JAN 2020:This review is a long time coming! During my last visit, I spent an hour and a half at this store. Kyla Howie, store manager, was exceedingly helpful, knowledgeable and patient. Where she didnt have an answer, she was willing to research it and recommend workarounds. At no point was anyone at the store pushy or trying to make a sale. They genuinely wanted to help me. When they had something but it wouldnt have suited my needs, they told me so.For instance, I do not use a tripod because I need to change locations and angles quickly, but use a 5 lb lens which hurts my back. Kyla let me try out a new kind of monopod that suited me perfectly. She wasnt pushy, but I ended up buying it and its one of the best investments Ive made. I also bought new lens caps, rubber hoods, lens cleaning solution, and more. I also tried out Sonys full-frame cameras and telephoto lenses. My three complaints are: 1) there is no Micro Four Thirds gear in store, 2) they are not a Panasonic dealer, and 3) they do not rent gear. I hope they improve upon this in the future.Photographers have a lot of options for researching and purchasing gear, but theres nothing quite like being able to touch and hold a product and get a feel for it. If you take your craft seriously, and care about the art of photography (with a real camera), support your local camera store!
Very helpful employees. Cant wait to get a camera! Shutterbug was a great experience
The store manager was SUPER nice. I yapped her ear off for an hour and she didnt seem annoyed that I didnt buy anything. Genuinely felt like she had my best interest at heart. Loss of a star is for not having the lens I was after.
I came to Shutterbug thinking I was going to have to send my Canon T6 to Beaverton to get the sensor cleaned. Cody, helped me out in store. He hooked me up with the things I would need to clean the sensor myself, and gave me camera a quick cleaning. Now my camera is taking smudge-free images. Plus, I will have the camera available this weekend when I need to shoot a wedding!I heartily recommend Shutterbug.
Definitely would recommend to any class of photographer.
Nice at first, but very poor service after you have purchased.
Its a pretty good shop, everybody that works there is great. They always have film in stock.
This is about customer service. I was repairing a broken water system for a medical building in the Valley River area and discovered I needed a battery. I raced to Valley River Center hoping to find the Radio Shack Store Open. It wasnt but shutterbug across from it was... barely. Steve was just closing up. I told him I needed a battery and he had it. But I had left my wallet in the car. I was exasperated, as there was no way to run out and get it...the guard was locking up and so was he. He saw I was desperate and paid for it out of his pocket. I said I would be sure and return to pay him back. He said dont worry forget it. I made a point of going back and leaving that small but important amount of money in an envelope for him with another employee. Ill never forget that. Plus I have bought several accessories there and their prices were good and staff friendly.
Great prices and friendly staff. I learned a lot about memory cards and video formats on my short visit. It turns out my camera wasnt broken, I just needed a new memory card. They saved me a ton of money, you bet I would send a friend or family member here.
They are always helpful and go above and beyond, offering superb personal service. I purchased my camera from them over a year ago and am completely happy.
I question the policy on returns. I stopped by The Shutterbug on my way from Ashland, Oregon to Washington (for a photo shoot) to replace my lost lens cap. The cap I was sold didnt fit well on my camera and kept popping off. So I stopped by again on my way back to southern Oregon to get a refund. The clerk refused to refund my money, but did offer me a gift card instead, which was of no use to me since I dont live in this city. It wasnt a big deal (I gave the card away), but I wondered what the policy here is on returns of more expensive equipment. For example, if I buy a tripod or something more expensive than a lens cap from The Shutterbug and it turns out to be defective, would I be refused a refund? Once they have my money, is it impossible to get it back?
Excellent camera knowledge from staff & quality in their products. I walked in looking for a new camera lens & walked out very satisfied. Thanks shutterbug!!
Had a good luck here with international passport photo. Nice store, fun people and great customer service ! I will definately come back for any of my photo printing needs.
I dont know how it was years ago, but I have been there twice in the last month and have been given great customer service on small things. I will absolutely be shopping their for some bigger ticket items in the future.
Super helpful and knowledgeable.Made useful suggestions without trying to oversell the most expensive items.
Helpful employees. Great products for photography
Whenever I stop in to ask questions, they are polite, knowledgeable and take the time to really help me.
Helpful staff. Prices can be a bit high, but the convenience is nice.
I have been buying my cameras from Shutterbug for 3 decades. I really appreciate the personal help one gets from their competent staff.Joe LaFleur, geologist, Springfield, Oregon
I had quite a few camera issues when i came in but the staff was very patient and helped me out a ton, and now i have an awesome new Canon 80D!
Very helpful and friendly staff. This is a great place to buy cameras & camera gear!
Always friendly staff gets them the two stars.Prices are god awful, Ive needed things for shoots on numerous occasions and dont have time to order from B&H or Amazon so I go to Shutterbug because sadly its all Eugene has. After special ordering a simple battery for my DSLR one would think would be in stock as it fits in around 10 Nikon DSLRs they tried to charge me $70 for it when other places came in around $45-50. Just purchased a 16GB SD for a a little backup on a big shoot booked late, almost $30 for a card that sells for $12 on Amazon. They are Eugenes convenience fee I suppose.
Staff well versed in photography topics. Reasonable pricing.
I bought both my cameras and a few lenses there. Great customer service.
Information and customer service are superb.
The staff are brilliant! I learn something new each time I visit.
Im gonna miss this location.
