This is the best Mexican food in Humboldt County. Everything tasted very fresh, the shrimp was cooked nicely and had wonderful grilled flavor. I got a burrito and it came with chips and some bean style dip which was a pleasant surprise.Everything Ive had here was great. All orders come with chips and bean dip. The carnitas is incredible.Its so nice to sit outside eating with a beautiful view of the golf course.

Great and delicious Mexican food, the restaurant is inside a golf park and it has some tables outside for you to enjoy your lunch. I tried the carne asada and bbq burrito and oh god! It was so huge I recommend maybe sharing cuz is a lot of food.Delicious, great place and nice staff, definitely worth it.

Ordered chili verde burritos. They had more rice than beans, more beans than meat. The meat was very salty.Overall dry.No extra salsa without paying extra, for a $10 burrito.

Wish I could give them 10 stars. I eat here on average 3 times a week minimum. You can taste that they cook everything with extra love! The Diablo shrimp burrito is my favorite item. Customer service always on point ! Shout out to Naomi and the rest of the team for always getting my sometimes complicated order right every single time!

Always trying to find places that elevate your typical cuisine to the next level and Cocina Mariposa definitely does that and more. The surf and turf burrito brings all the flavors together nicely with the grilled poblanos and onions adding zing of flavor your dont get from your standard burrito. My wife enjoyed the veggie nachos and jackfruit street taco which are once again options you wont find anywhere else.

This is one of best Mexican Restaurants in Humboldt County. From the chips to the entree everything is fresh and made from scratch. I had the enchiladas with rice and beans. My wife had the fried fish tacos. We will certainly be back to try more.

Be sure to repeat your order many times, otherwise they get it wrong, and dont even offer to correct it. For a $14 chimicguna it should be correct, and not make you Ill from what they put on it.

Chips, so, so. Thin and not very good. We ordered the enchilada and chile relleno plates. My wife had black beans and rice with her dish and mine had frijoles and rice. Her enchiladas were too spicy for her, but I had what she didnt eat and I thought they were quite tasty. The chile relleno was also good. The thing which surprised me was the corn tortillas served with lunch. Unusually thick and had excellent texture and flavor. Possibly my favorite thing about the meal... the tortillas ☺️The view of the golf course is amazing 😳I would go back 😊

If you are in Eureka you need to stop here. We grabbed some breakfast burritos before we left town and now I wish we had eaten at Cocina more than once. The food was amazing! Good burritos and the habanero hot sauce was actually spicy. So good!

Was going to order but it looked so so dirty, the kitchen was a mess and the floors were atrocious. I know some ppl might think good food doesn’t come from fancy looking places but - at a golf course, where it ain’t cheap to play the sport, you’d think the restaurant would care more about their appearance and upkeep. I was turned off. The waitresses where both distracted, unkempt and seated, it did not feel welcoming. Might give it another try but if they don’t tend their google reviews then the customer service = food- prob not worth it!

I lost my appetite when one of the waiters confuse me for someone else and tried fighting me out back.Their mom had pulled them back inside and told me to leave the premises which I don’t know who they thought I was but I don’t know them and I wanted to tacos after a nice day of golfing. I don’t think I’ll every go golfing there again.

Im totally surprised by this place. Its a hole in the wall but the flavor is excellent. The spices are incredible. I got the enchilada plate and a taco. Im looking forward to trying everything on the menu. Wow

This is some very very delicious food. Incredibly fresh and flavorful. Today we had the Chilaquiles, a Baja fish burrito and Asada fries. Everything was amazing. The salsas are super good. And we had Horchata and the Agua of the day!!! I would recommend this place to any and everyone. And I will be back asap! Thank you Cocina Mariposa!

Best Mexican food around.

Im so happy I heard about this place. A reliable source told me its the best Mexican food in Eureka maybe even all of Humboldt. Since I moved from the Bay Area five years ago I have longed for mexican food that is on par with my old favorite spot. Ive found my new happy place! Everything was suspiciously, exactly, perfectly what I was hoping for. I even bought a chelada from the golf course shop next door and enjoyed the sunshine while I waited for my order. The carnitas was divine! I cant wait to go back to try it all. I might even start golfing!

Birria Tacos with Consemmé was excellent!

I love this place! Hand made tortillas are got me in the door but the quality and flavor are what keep me coming back for more! The agua frescas are the icing on the cake!! Its a bit off tue path but definitely worth the trip!!!

Hands down my favorite Mexican food place in humboldt county. Marisela puts her heart into her cooking and you can definitely tell. In house fresh made salsas, tortillas and rotating aqua Fresca flavors. The carnitas is my personal favorite. They offer vegan and vegetarian options as well!

This was our first visit. We will be going back many times. It is very casual. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. They were busy while we were there, but our order came to the table in short order and was hot and ready to eat. The price is reasonable and the portions are perfect. There were four of us in our group and we all had a different dinner and we all thought the dinner was way above average for taste and quality. Great food, friendly staff and wonderful service!

What I really liked about the place is they have a variety of different kinds of food for different diets so they have stuff for keto, vegetarian, and vegan. they do not have any type of shade so if you go there on a hot day be sure to wear a hat.

Went during work lunch hour, slow wait service, no chips and salsa after 40 min. No lunch order ready after 35-40 min., Asked to go, told still 2 orders ahead of us, opted to leave, told they could fix it to go in a few minutes. Wont go back, too bad - good food....just too many phone orders ahead of people dining in took presidence....and people who arrived after us served first even though we mentioned being on lunch hour from work

Tried this restaurant for the first time . (They just opened a week ago) The server was very sweet and helped us right away. It didnt take long for our food to arrive and it was very good!They serve food in the style of the Mexican State..Michoacán. So, it is a little bit different than our other Mexican restaurants. Tasty and very reasonably priced. I will be back!It is located in the main building at the Municipal golf course but is open to the public. They are working on signage. We parked in the upper lot and walked down.

Wow, what a hidden gem! We just ate here for the first time and it was excellent! We got there around 1030 as Google has incorrect hours listed, they open at 11 am not 9 and theyre closed on Mondays. Maricela offered to serve breakfast since they werent quite open yet. We had chilaquiles, machaca burrito, and a vegan Al pastor taco made with jackfruit. Every item was flavorful and satisfying. Authentic Mexican food, lots of options including vegan and keto. I judge Mexican food places by their salsas, the spicier the better. They have different sauces varying in spiciness depending on what you can handle. The habanero sauce had me sweating, just the way I like it. The food was delicious, the service was great, we will definitely be back and this just may be our new go to for Mexican food. Highly recommend checking out this place.

Ive been wanting to try this place for a while now and finally got there on a rainy weekend.First, love, love, LOVE the refried beans that come with the chips. Wish you didnt have to pay extra for salsa on the side.We got a wide sampling of street tacos. #1 hands down were the carnitas. Close second was a tie between the Al pastor and fish tacos. The barbacoa was solid. Id skip the carne asada. Even tried the jackfruit Al pastor and it was delicious. Heard they gave keto tacos where the tortillas are made of cheese. Also didnt try the nachos or breakfast items. Just another reason to return.Its nice to finally have some decent Mexican food options in Humboldt.
