The nicest people of all time. We use them for shipping, and its always really fast. Today they went out of their way to make sure I knew my 2-day shipping wouldnt arrive until the other side of the weekend, and they offered to get the shipping straightened out for overnight so I would have the order in time. Really the best experience. Give them all your business! They have mine.
The selection and prices are wonderful, but I honestly can’t recommend coming in until they’ve relocated. Everything is pretty haphazard and hard to navigate, and unfortunately the staff we interacted with during our visit were dismissive and unhelpful. I’m hoping after the move things will be a little better in both regards.
So many beautiful fabrics! The staff was so helpful. Went out of their way. And they have many services like making slipcovers and curtains. Loved this place!
Love this place. Its huge, and has a GIANT selection of fabrics and sewing supplies for just about any project you could think of. My favorite area is the remnants section where you can get smaller pieces of fabric for cheap. The staff has been pretty friendly in my experience. Im sad theyre moving to a new location this year, as it will be farther away from me.
The people that worked all had attitudes about something, not sure what was wrong, no one wanted to help me, finally a lady helped me, everyone else just looked at me with dirty looks, never going back.
Vast selection, great owner and counter help. Old fashioned service. Go!!!
The staff was so rude I became flummoxed and spilled my thermos of coffee all over a bolt of fabric.
I used to shop there a long time ago (50 years). I made my wedding dress from items I purchased there. My sons girl friend and I will be down there, soon.
Favorite fabric store. Brilliantly filled with sumptuous fabrics and notions.
Excellent customer service. Great inventory. A sewists dream!
I ordered several several cuts of fabric which I am very pleased with. All of it is just beautiful and met my expectations. But the reason I am writing this review is that my order was shipped two days after I placed the order and I received it four days after that. I was so surprised and very pleased. I will be ordering more, more, moreThank you for your fast service.
This was the first time I went to this store. The store and the collections both are great. However the lady at the register who prepares the final bill is pretty rude and arrogant. I would highly recommend the owner to get some customer service training from the employee that works there because those people are really helpful and knows how to treat their customers.
Thought prices were going to be lower since its a moving sale.
Wonderful store with High quality fabrics. Great customer services, very helpful and professional. I have been working with fabrics for three years at this store and I cant stop buying their products. I received great reviews for my online store from customers. And definitely will continue to use their fabrics for my clothes ( shirts, dresses, trousers....). Highly recommend this store, as me number ONE for Illinois. Big Thanks!
I have visited this store that seems incredible for everything they have is wonderful. the only bad thing I can see is that I have had a staff that seems to be hurting their stomachs they have an annoyed face as they do not know how to smile at the people who enter (more kindness more customers). They are very rude to customers only that is the only bad thing I see in this wonderful store. For the store i will give it a 5 stars but for the personality the store workers have i will give it a 2 stars.
I always buy my canvas for painting here - quick, efficient, decently priced. Absolutely no complaints
This place is a wonderland of beautiful fabrics at reasonable prices. There are many types of apparel fabric as well as home decor and quilting cotton. I am lucky enough to live nearby so visit often and the staff are always kind to me and my kids. The remnant section is worth walking through each time. You never know what deals you might find. They also have a wide variety of notions, elastics, zippers, buttons, etc. oh, and don’t forget the sewing machine repair, sewing classes, and scissor sharpening services. Truly a one stop shop for all things sewing.
It took me multiple tries to pick up my serger from repair because their payment system was down. Then when I did finally pick it up and get it home I discovered it was still broken. Ill never go there again.
Nice fabric selection. Good sales. Silks are gorgeous. Highly recommend. Many fabric stores have closed. They used to have a store in Roosevelt road. But that has closed. They have a warehouse store for by the bolt sales.
Amazing fabric selection with cost savings that don’t break the budget.Do yourself a favor, prepare your visit with projects in mind along with fabric quantity and color pallet required to create your project.
As soon as you walk in there’s a bad atmosphere. No one greets you. I asked the lady at the front counter for help and she pointed with whatever was in her hand, all while not even attempting to make simple eye contact. I’ve been to this location years ago and it appears the quality of the staff and their willingness to help has gone down hill. I would not recommend visiting this location. I was excited to buy new tools for sewing, but unfortunately the atmosphere was too downing. I would not even consider making the effort to spend my money here.
Need something sewing related? This is the place for you.
Ive loved Vogue since the 80s. Fresh new textiles arrive frequently but they always have the traditional as well. Trims, patterns, remnants, tools, they ALWAYS have it all. The beaded and embroidered bridal fabrics are exactly the same as in NYC but at a third the price. The Evanston store is the best place in the country to buy bridal supplies. Love, Love, LOVE!
I used to love coming to this store, but lately I have started to love it less and less. I have been coming to this store for the past ten years and over the years the aisles have gotten smaller and the employees have gotten more rude. For example, last summer I went to buy some fabric and I found a couple bolts I wanted that were in the designer clearance. As soon as I brought the bolts to the register a creepy old man who (I guess) was working there was leaning against the counter staring at my body up and down. He asked me if I was from Lebanon, because I have a curvy body. I said no, and tried to continue ignoring him as politely as I could while I had my fabric cut by the other employee (an older woman) who was working there. While I was having my fabric cut, she was listening to this creepy male employee talk about my body and instead of asking him to stop, she started glaring at me! Then when we unrolled a bolt of white designer clearance fabric I picked, we found a bunch of dark orange stains all over it. When we found the stains, the creepy guy asked if she could lower the price more since it was damaged (but after the way he was looking at my body and talking about it I could barely even mutter a thank you). The woman glared at him, then glared at me, then glared at my body, and said that she could not lower the price any more because even though the fabric was badly damaged, it was already in the designer clearance section. I said Thats okay, Ill find a way to work around it and paid for the bolt and left. Sure enough, I did find a way to work around the stains but both of these employees attitudes were just plain nasty. If you go into this store and you have a curvy body, just get what you are trying to buy and leave as fast as possible because apparently, this store is not a good store to go to if you want to be treated like a human being, let alone if you have a curvy body.
I love this store. I order online only and I am very pleased with the fabric. It totally exceeds my expectations. The prices are so reasonable, too.
Sewing machine repair is fabulous here! Jim does an excellent job at a very reasonable price. The rest of the staff I found to be very unfriendly and sometimes downright rude....but Jim is the BEST!
Vogue fabrics is ok, but as the name otherwise suggests, it is hardly in vogue. I went looking for woollen and woollen blends for suits and overcoats but they hardly had any good selection for me. The ladies are all very nice and courteous and helpful. Having had a custom tailor for a father who studied in Chicago and London back in the late 50s and used to wearing only custom tailored clothes, I found the choices very limited if not current. Maybe I went at the wrong time of the year..
The fabric store Ive always wanted to have in my neighborhood! Huge selection of fabric and notions at good prices. Zippers in pretty much any color you could possibly need, a whole room of trims, great apparel fabrics that youll never find at other fabric stores. The only con for me is that I find it hard to understand how the fabric is organized. There are several different sections of knit fabric for casual clothing, for example, and I cant tell why theyre not all in one place. A small price to pay for so many options, though. You wont regret shopping here!
If you know exactly what you are looking for, and can stay laser focused this place can be great. If you have a wandering eye and are easily tempted by sales...you might end up with a lot of unnecessary fabric. I dont feel like the staff is as helpful as they used to be, but it depends on the person you ask. I dont like that the discount fabrics are labeled generically, and dont tell you what the fiber content is. For example they have items that are labeled fall favorites but it doesnt tell you the type of fabric or the fiber content. If I were an expert sewer I would probably be able to tell, alas I am not.
The best customer service. Gems of fabrics, too. Great place to have your machines serviced. The real deal!
There arent many true fabric stores left. I love this place. I think the fabric selection is excellent. Their wool suitings are terrific and you cant find them elsewhere. I also appreciate their button selection. Be prepared to spend a few minutes in check out. Ive asked my husband to wait in the car while I shop, its never a fast process. I dont mind, Im just setting your expectation. They have a manual carbon copy system, which I expect keeps costs down. Each section of the store has its own checkout. So allow extra time and youll have a wonderful experience and be inspired by all of the beautiful fabric.
This place doesnt have the same broad selection as a big chain fabric/craft store, but they do a great job at what they specialize in - batiks, fleece, upholstery fabrics. The remnants section is huge. I dont always find quite what Im looking for - I would prefer more modern cotton prints - but I always find something interesting. The aisles are narrow and can get very difficult to navigate in the winter when everyone has a bulky coat. The staff are super friendly and really seem to enjoy their work.
I asked for help and left feeling embarrassed and without what I came to buy.
Vogue fabrics is an EXCELLENT fabric store not just for material for clothing but for upholstery & drapery. Designer fabrics & knowledgeable staff. Ive been coming here since I was 8 years old with my mom & I am now 59. You wont be disappointed!
I absolutely love this fabric store!! I have ordered with Vogue Fabrics 5+ times, and every single order has been shipped super quickly!! Not to mention, the fabrics are wonderful...lovely quality and priced just right. My latest order was placed this past Thursday...its Saturday, and I already have it (I am in CA). Love, love Vogue Fabrics and their customer service. A+!!
Always great been coming for over 25 years. Its the over affordable price fabric with great quality. Wonderful staff.
A portal to the world of fabrics. Vogue fabrics is more of an institution than a store. In its current location since 1945. It occupies three quarters of a block. My introduction to this world came with my lady friend who would buy specialized fabric not by the yard but the bolt. You had to know fabric and what you are looking for to benefit from coming here. Clothes or decor. Usage and purpose. Types of fabrics. More than silks, polyesters, rayon, cotton. Warmth, durability, how it hangs. Colors, patterns. Nuance, subtlety in fabric variations beyond type. How sheer. How ornate. Thread count. Trimmings like hook and loop, ribbons, buttons, zippers. If its home decor, is it drapes, upholstery, cushions, covers? You must do your homework. Get pictures of things like what you want. Maybe a swatch of what you want if matching color or fabric. They are willing and able to help with any project. There is a universe of possibilities, and all the accoutrements to help you make them a reality. There are bargains to be had at the remnant section. They offer sewing classes, sell sewing equipment. Not just sewing machines but basics like different types of scissors. Rippers. Thread you didnt know was available. Everything you could want for that special finishing touch. If all that is not enough, whats great about this store? Whether you are a do-it-yourself person, or need a project completed they can help you. Labor prices can change depending on your vision. This is where you can realize your dreams, whatever they are, no matter how large or small. Wedding dress, that perfect upholstery, chair covers. Anything. Everything. And get knowledgeable friendly help. It starts with a little effort from you. An amazing place.
I ordered online from Vogue Fabrics and received the order in 3 days! Now that is customer service and I will definitely be back for more fabric. The fabric was safely wrapped in a bag and tied with a bow...I loved it! I wish the Vogue stores were closer to me, but maybe one of these days I will make a trip there from Indiana and check out everything they have. The prices were far better than any other online store, Joann Fabrics and Hobby Lobby. Looking forward to being a customer of Vogues for many, many years!
I have loved Vogue Fabrics for 30 years, ever since I lived in Chicago. I now live in Wisconsin, and love Vogue Fabrics even more. There are so very, very few fabric stores in the area that carry the tremendous quantity of inventory and have truly knowledgeable sales people. I always visit Vogue Fabrics when I am in the area. People with minor complaints should take a minute to consider where they would get fabrics of such a wide range of quality somewhere else. Buying online isnt the same as feeling the fabric and seeing the true color.
A great selection of options to explore, but checking out always takes a long time for one reason or another. Bring plenty of patience and parking meter money.
So disappointedI drove from Michigan, thrilled at the idea that I would finally find a fabric store with actual fabric. I expected to find a store with fabric arrayed for my delight, colors galore, shop-able, staffed with knowledgeable fabric geeks.Instead I found a store with bolts of fabric piled with no apparent order. Aisles less than 2 feet wide. No carts of any kind, so that selecting more than one or two bolts of fabric becomes problematic.Apparently each of 4 parts of the store are separate. Items selected in one section must be paid for in that section before they can be removed from that section. Patterns (non-returnable) for example, must be bought and paid for before you can take them into the fabric area.Saddest of all is the employee attitude. Sullen is the only word I can think of to describe it. With the exception of one young lady in the Upholstery portion of the store, I was never greeted, my greetings went unacknowledged, and in fact until I asked for help, no one even met my eyes.My business is similar to Vogue Fabrics. We also sell a craft product that is hard to find in large selections. We have a selection that customers will travel far to visit, as far as Australia or Kuwait. We are experts in our field, and our customers expect us to share our expertise. If I treated my customers the way I was treated at Vogue, I would be out of business in a heartbeat.Due to the uncomfortable atmosphere and difficulty in shopping at Vogue, I bought less than half of the material I intended to. I may or may not do mail order business with Vogue, although I find the website to be clumsy and primitive, but I will surely not drive the 442 miles to Evanston and back, just to be able to see and feel the fabrics. Sad.
Vogue Fabrics is a reminder of a disappearing retail experience. Rooms full of fabrics and notions, not possible to buy online. Touch thousands of rolls and discover how business has been conducted for centuries. Theres little modern, which is perfect.
Always had good luck before, but with this last online order, service has definitely declined. First, an item I ordered wasnt even in stock. Second, they didnt even print my order to look at it until two days after I placed my order. (I had asked that they please rush.) Then, they didnt even try to contact me about the item out of stock until the NEXT day.Not ordering from here again. Just too much hassle when I need something rush.
I have not been here since middle school due to location and parking but I felt like time did not move. Same mode of operation and maybe even same people. Which l liked.
I have been going this store for years. The quality of fabric is getting worseand the prices went high.Few front staff are very Rude. They should take the customer service training.I decided not to visit this store any more.
They have a pretty good selection, but I suppose it could be better labeled, as I had a hard time locating materials...however it seemed like I was bothering the workers when I asked where something was. As someone who only uses fabric to support another medium, I need help, and 2 workers today seemed annoyed when I asked where I could find something. I wont be in a rush to come back.
The customer service here is terrible. They are unfriendly and seemingly uncaring about other peoples time. I was waiting behind a customer who left to get another item and instead of the cashier checking me out, she simply waited, then the other customer returned and didnt get that item. Someone else had stepped immediately behind the person checking out even though I was there and the cashier checked that person out instead of me. I wasnt acknowledged or respected. When I said I had been waiting, the cashier said she had to check that person out first. I put my items back.
Great selection and pricing. Very friendly staff helped me when I was looking for things. Ill certainly be back again.
Vogue has a great selection of fabrics, notions, tools, and trims. Im so happy theyre in my neighborhood.
This is a great store. Its very large and has basically anything you could ever want. Ive only been a few times but I really love it. I wish that the hours went a little later since I work during the day but thats ok.
Carol was so knowledgeable and helpful! And the selection is excellent.
Ordered silk satin ribbon, its very good quality. I needed it to fill an order and ask that it be sent asap. Ordered from three different companies. Received form Vogue Fabrics right away and have yet to receive from other two companies.
This Vogue location has the best selection of any of the Vogue stores. Its the cleanest, most organized and has the friendliest staff. Has a decent selection of specialty fabrics, but still not great.
The store sing said Open...played my money to park then their was a small sign on the door saying....open by appointment......and u would have to pay 5 dollars for the appointment......they said it would be given back later after u make a purchase....so my rating I -10.......
This one is closer to home and I can still find some great little pieces of fabric! Great time now to look for pieces to make cute little summer dresses.
Love the store, stuff very nice and friendly. Prices are great compare to Joann. I am going there once in a week for my fabrics.
Merchandise quality has not declined, but level of service has. As more experienced crafts people get older and retire, the store loses quality advice that made it most attractive in the first place. Once all the employees become entry level and use the job as a stepping stone towards something better, it will simply be a more outdated version of JoAnns or Michaels. Perhaps better retention and training could improve things, but with this generation of management, it seems unlikely.
I appreciate that it is one of the few independent fabric stores. Product familiarity depends on the individual you ask.
I just went in to go to the bathroom. But the worker just told me that is was in a section that I didnt know. So I kept going down and she kept saying keep going. It was a little annoying. Besides that, good there bathroom was very clean which was nice.
Employee very friendly and helpful great place have a lot of product and very nice materials if you need anything they havit
I was looking for some material for a very heavy set girl and I actually found a color that I think she would really love so I was happy
Come here only if you have 2 hours to stand in line. There is somewhat of an overpriced selection but there are not enough people working here to check you out. Prepare to wait in line for hours. Id recommend going to another fabric store.
This is a nice place to shop for your various fabric materials.
I have been a swatch customer for three years and have had only good experiences with my orders. I order 3 to 4 different fabrics every couple of months and always receive what I order. If the yardage is not available, I am notified by email and telephone and asked what I would like to do. The prices are slightly better than Hancocks or Joanns, and bulk shipping is reasonable (cheaper than my driving to the nearest fabric store which is 50 miles away from me).
Love the fabric. Love the prices only bad thing is I live in Chicago and its quite a drive, so I cant go that often.
May 07, 2020. On Google they give info that the store is open. Wrong information. The store is CLOSED.
Website claims they ship internationally but the catch is youre required to run your payment through Paypal in order to verify your shipping address. Interesting policy, considering none of my creditors have issues sending me bills to Japan (funny how that works.) I can understand requiring this when your buyers have a foreign-issued payment form but I am an expat and all my cards and banking is still through US methods, not overseas. Charged my card THEN had the nerve to send me a Paypal invoice.
Staff here are not friendly, helpful or knowledgable. Space is unkept and generally dirty. Fishmans fabrics is much better and worth the extra drive.
Nice place with friendly people :D
I had a positive visit, plan to visit again soon, lots of beautiful fabrics
I ordered 3.5 yards of special occasion fabric from them. After my order shipped, I received a message from Shawn stating that they only had 3 yards and had already shipped it to me. I informed Shawn that my project required 3.5 yards and that I wished he would have contacted me BEFORE shipping my order. Shawn responded with the following options:A) you can ship it back and receive your refund minus a restocking fee of $30. However, you would be responsible for return shipping charges. (refund)B) I can exchange the fabric for any other fabric of equivalent value for something we do have 3.5 yards in and also waive the restocking fee. (direct exchange)C) You keep the fabric and I offer you a complimentary 15% off your next purchase as an apology for the inconvenience. (coupon)I asked if I could be discounted on this current order, via 15% refund and he reiterated that the discount would be applied to any future orders.Since I am dissatisfied with the fulfillment of THIS order and each resolution option required that I either spend more money or lose money for a mistake on THEIR part, I will no longer order from them.
Little to no communication, order never arrived, waiting on a refund. If I could give zero stars, I would. It was an online order placed Sept 2nd, I received the confirmation email but no email telling me if it was shipped or not. Upon reaching out to the company the first time, the conversation was bare bones and straight forward. I was told it was shipped on Sept 7th and would arrive by Sept 20th. I found it odd that it would take so long since the store is in the US but did not question it. I waited until today, one month after ordering, to call again. The only information I got was a repeat of the first conversation. That it had been shipped on the 7th, and should have arrived by the 20th. It had not arrived and none of my neighbors had received it accidentally. Refund has been requested. My project is now a month behind and I dont know if it will be done in time. Will never order from them again.
Considering its enormous size and selection, they never seen to have what I need. The service want too friendly it helpful either.
Vogue fabrics has a lot of material and the staff there were very helpful. We looked EVERYWHERE for a particular material and found it only here!
I had not been in a long time but definitely not what I remembered it to be. It looked dirty and dusty and the selection was ok. I walked around unbothered as it was not crowded and that was nice. My fabric was cut by a lady that was training another young lady and that was an ok experience. The lady at notions was VERY VERY helpful, led me to what I was asking for and explained the differences and how to determine the pricing - so that was outstanding. Normally I would spend upwards of $100 there on fabric alone. This go round I brought a few dollars worth of notions that I really could have gotten - the same brand at my local Walmart fabric department for a little cheaper and not have to drive as far. I am just hoping my experience was because of the time of the year. I am going to the Quilting Expo where Vogue will be there and then to the Vogue Road Show, hoping for better fabric and in general Vogue presents well.
Purchased brocade fabric online and what I got was some tissue thin fabric I cannot even use.Brocade it is not. Horrible.
This place smells horrible. The people are unfriendly and always look at you like youve done something wrong when you touch the products. Bathroom are not clean the mens doesnt even have a sink. Definitely would not recommend.
Unhappy-placed order for item-was out of stock and received email that would be out 2-3 wks. Cx order in 7 days via email from date order placed and ordered elsewhere. Called day after sending Cx via email. Informed that item was in and had been shipped. Informed-I ordered elsewhere and did not need. Advised would get full refund and to send package back unopened-write on it -REFUSED, RETURN TO SENDER Which I did over 10 days ago-have not seen confirmation of return or refund yet. So called on 9/9/14 spoke w/someone customer service-said would check into it and get back to me. Three days later and nothing. Poor customer service and I am now disputing payment with my payment company to reverse the charges. Not happy-should have been notified that item was in and see if I still wanted it. When you receive notification out of stock and given a time frame-the customer should be consulted before shipping if it comes in earlier than stated time frame.
Good selection. Very strange employees.
They have a great selection, but the layout is overwhelming and the staff isnt always willing to help. They make it seem like you are putting them out.
Great store for fabrics and notions.
Always great shopping here.
Good quality fabrics at affordable prices..
Has to be one of my favorite sources
Love the store fabrics 718 main stress
Poor customer service.
Though this place has LOTS of fabric to choose from, its hard to find what you really want if you are not knowledgeable about the kinds of fabrics you need. The staff seems to be unavailable and unfriendly if you are inexperienced in fabric selection and want advice for projects.
Great fabrics, and a nice store.
The required fabrics were not available as before and the prices found higher.
The first sales lady was a little flaky, but I got what I needed, eventually.
They have books and books of upholstery fabric samples.
Old School, been here for decades. Selection is not the best.
I like the store...
They had exactly what I was looking for
