I used Greenwise for re-sodding my rental property backyard and mulching the front area. They were extremely knowledgeable and provided very cost effective recommendations. Additionally, the quality of work was exceptional and professional.

They’ve taken great care of our gardens and as a result the gardens are more lush than they ever have been. They’ve done an awesome job in the winter clearing the snow from our lot. We recently used Greenwise for a rather large residential landscape/garden installation (as well as using them for our weekly mowing and landscape maintenance needs). Brennan from Greenwise was great to work with throughout the design and installation process. He really understood our vision from the very first meeting and made sure that the end result was exactly what we wanted. He continually offered helpful suggestions and recommendations as we progressed through the design and installation process. He and his team communicated throughout and made sure both that we knew what was going on and that the work was completed within our goal timeframe. The installation crew was also fantastic to work with. They were professional, efficient, knowledgeable, willing to offer suggestions based on their experience when we needed them, and left the yard clean after the work was completed. Overall we are very pleased with the project and with Greenwise overall. We cant wait to see how the garden fills in as the summer progresses.

Greenwise helped to level out our backyard after construction, rebuild our brick patio and walkway, build raised beds, lay sod, and prepare the soil for planting. Their work was super efficient and everything was meticulously done.

The company does good work. However, some services are automatically renewed the following year. I had Greenwise mulch my yard in 2020, and the service was automatically performed again in 2021. I was emailed about this, but believe that you should be verbally contacted before the company goes ahead with a $1,000+ service to ensure that you want it. The renewal agreement was in the fine print on the agreement and not pointed out by the company representative who sold the mulching service. Very shady business practices for a local company that otherwise does outstanding work.

Greenwise did an excellent job cleaning up our lawn and garden beds. They not only performed the job I asked of them but went out of their way to make further improvements to my yard so that it was in peak shape for the fall! Would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a lawn care company.

We had Gannon design with us a new plant layout in the front of our home. We had evergreens for ever and they where half dead and time to be removed but we where not going to replace them with just evergreens again. Our new design included Service Berry tree, viburnums, hydrangeas, Japanese grasses and barberry bushes and then 9-bark. They finished with a beautiful dirt/mulch compound for the plantings. Their staff cleaned up everything, watered after planted and left us with the new look we had thought of 3 years ago. Highly recommended.

This is just a wonderful company. When other companies did not return calls and failed to follow up with estimates, Greenwise was completely prompt with both. I cannot say enough about the service that we got from Greenwise from start to finish! The attention on what was needed for our home was impeccable. Mark was with us every step of the way. The men who worked tirelessly for 4 days were so respectful of us and our space. They never brought a piece of machinery into our yard. Everything was done totally by hand. Sorely disappointed. I asked Greenwise to clear an area of my yard of ground cover and add mulch. They came and did a very small area that was not what I have originally asked them to do. They stated they would come back and do the job I had asked them to do without extra charge which they never did in spite of several calls. The bill was ridiculously high for the job. In the end they knocked off just a little $ but totally not worth it. Paid it just to be done with them. Not at all what I expected. I dont normally write negative reviews but felt compelled this time. Wont be using them again.

We have used Greenwise for years for many services including weekly lawn care, landscaping and seasonal clean ups and cannot recommend them highly enough. They do a beautiful job with so much attention to detail, their crew members are friendly, hard working and reliable and I love that I know my kids are safe playing in the yard because they are so committed to using only the safest, most environmentally friendly products. When I have called into the office about anything everyone I have talked with has been incredibly kind, courteous and knowledgeable as well.

We had a small job of digging weeds and their nasty roots from our side yard where nothing will grow but weeds. Plus they had to remove and haul away dirt to prepare the area for 3 deep rubber mulch and weed prevention garden cloth, keeping the grade at the proper level. They did an awesome job and cleaned the area very well. We will be hiring them for our next project in the spring 😀 🙌

Our landscape designer, Sandro, was very knowledgeable, had great ideas, communicated clearly and kept us informed throughout the project. Sandro used many native plants in our design, which were selected to attract pollinators (bees and butterflies) and positioned to ensure even blooming throughout the year. We had many “self-inflicted” change orders and Sandro was nimble enough to accept the changes and keep the project moving. The team was very professional and respectful and did a good job maintaining distance during the COVID pandemic. Our new yard looks spectacular!

One week later: I came outside on Friday, and some random guy with his two-wheeler. I was confused about why he was there. Wed already hired another gardener. Id already set up a schedule for fertilizer, weed removal, watering, tree removal and soil/seeding with another company. Then heres this random guy who I dont know just moving around in our lawn like someone asked him to be there. I asked who he was, and he said he was from Greenwise. Even after I have, in print, that we canceled future services with them, this company is still sending out workers. And once again, they felt the need to tell NO ONE that someone was coming. Stay out of our lawn now, please.Original review: I have mixed feelings with this company. I cannot decide whether I like it or not.Pros: They did a great job with cleaning up our plants in the front yard, adding new ones where need be, putting mulch down, clearing up old rocks and debris, and lining up an area in the back that had become a forest. When the workers came out, they worked so fast that I blinked and they were gone. When they missed the forest area the first time, the estimator (Josh) came out and started trimming and neatening it up on his own. I have zero complaints about the actual work. I can even give Josh kudos for having the patience to deal with someone who knows zip zero about gardening (me) and an expert (our condo treasurer) because she had strong opinions on how it should look.Cons: My initial impression of the company was glowing. The rep could pronounce my name correctly (which was impressive in itself) and told me Id get a call back to set up a time for an estimate. Then for about a week, I heard nothing. I changed my phone number a few days later and blamed it on myself, but that still didnt change the few days BEFORE the number change. I followed up with them and was told they were so busy that it couldve been their fault. We paid for minor landscaping needs, a few plants (without any kind of printed price or reference to look at so we were guessing every plant was $45 and finally got some free ones from another owner), trimming and some bushes removed. The workers did 75% of the job and left the forest in the back unattended, no mulch down, no trimming, no nothing. I had to call back to find out what happened. We paid for a few other things, and Josh and the workers came back to finish the incomplete work.I was a bit annoyed that no one felt the need to call, email or text to let us know when the fertilization process would start. I just randomly saw a man in a yellow vest flying around like Superman in the middle of our lawn. I had to call THEM to find out whether that was one of their workers. They told me the start date was past the email date that they usually send to customers, so I would have never even known he was here at all if I hadnt have seen Superman having the time of his life on our grass. I shouldve gotten a manual email if I missed the auto-email option (that I knew nothing about). They did make an effort to contact me before the second round of work started--but then waited until two days AFTER city workers randomly started shoving yellow flags all over our lawn. I called Peoples Energy and ComEd trying to figure out why these flags were required, and they didnt know. At no point did Greenwise inform us that they contacted Digger, and oddly, the flags didnt show up until AFTER the first job was complete. They have a habit of doing things and telling you later (and its not in the estimates). I was still left guessing about the rest of the fertilization, aeration and weed removal visits.By the time I asked about a soil project (while the other workers were here) and was told Id get an estimate in a couple days, then a week and still nothing, I gave up and hired someone else. Were going to have another company do the rest of the yard work. We canceled those other five to six appointments for grass treatment. With the amount of money they charge, our condominium definitely should not have a lawn full of 85% of weeds.

Really important to us to have as environmentally clean lawn care as we can. Weve been very happy with Greenwise and their efforts to be as responsible as possible.

Greenwise completely transformed the exterior of our home. We hired Greenwise for a frontyard and backyard landscaping and front walk/patio project for our home in Winnetka and could not be more pleased with the result. The team at Greenwise was incredibly professional and responsive throughout the entire process. I was very impressed with the knowledge and design prowess of everyone I worked with. Once we decided on a design, the entire thing was executed in less than a week. I still cant believe how good it looks. 10/10 will work with Greenwise again.

We worked with Greenwise for landscaping of our property in 2019 and are very happy with the results. They are extremely knowledgeable, and do a very thorough job in the design and installation. We are currently using their organic maintenance program which seems to be effective and is competitively priced vs conventional options. Overall, it’s been a very good experience.

The work was fine, but their communication wasnt exactly fast. It took weeks for us to get responses to emails. We ended up using a different provider for other work we wanted done.

We are extremely happy with our choice of Greenwise Lawn Care. We have used them for a couple years now, and have also tried out other places. Greenwise has our lawn looking the absolute best compared to other companies (both more expensive than GW and some less). They are very responsive. When we have a weed situation to address they are on it. When we expressed early in the season we wanted a lovely, lush, green lawn they got it to that point. And quickly provide quotes for add on services that we decided we need during the year (mulch, tree removal, etc). And most importantly I dont worry about any chemicals being added to my lawn. Also, I feel like their pricing is very fair. I have met with and interviewed many lawn companies. Unfortunately the very cheap $20/mow are too inconsistent and dont leave you lawn looking healthy. And the one year I paid $1,000/month our lawn look the worst. I understand Greenwise isnt free, but for us its worth every penny.

He apologized for the miscommunications and/or lack of communication. I feel better about this company now.DONT USE THESE PEOPLE IF YOU HAVE FLOWER BEDS YOU CARE ABOUT. My entire property is flower beds. Im a little particular about them.I decided to give Greenwise a try for fertilization/mulch, since they say they are Organic.I told them I wanted them to do the work WHILE I WAS HOME. I gave them dates Id be home. They first tried to come BEFORE those dates (while I was out of town), then they showed up 1 day AFTER those dates and started working WITHOUT ANY PRIOR NOTICE.When I ask for mulch to be laid, I dont expect the crew to touch anything, just put down mulch. Instead they weeded a bed first, meaning they pulled any plant that was less that 2 inches tall, including ground cover I had just planted the previous spring. Luckily, I had not left yet for my trip and stopped them from doing that to any other beds. They SAID they would replace the plants they accidentally pulled. However, the final bill showed no credit for the plants I subsequently bought myself, nor did they ever contact me to bring new plants.And they didnt finish the job in that one day, so they returned again without prior notice on a day when half the back yard was covered with a tree branch that had fallen. The mulch in the back yard looks uneven at best. There are places that dont even look like mulch was put down. However, several of my flagstones were completely covered. Really?I paid the full bill (which wasnt cheap) MINUS $100 (the cost of the ground cover I bought myself to replace what had been weeded). I wrote right on the bill that I was deducting $100 for replacement plants. No phone call, no email, but I just received another statement in the mail today which shows a balance of $100 due.This is NOT Customer Service. The communication was horrible and the completion of the job was average.I will never use this company again, based on this experience.

This past spring it became very apparent that my husband and I could not keep up with our yard work. As May moved into June our front and back yards kept getting worse. I started looking for a company who could come in and do a massive spring (or early summer) clean up. After calling six companies and getting only two positive responses, Greenwise was the only company that actually followed through and came to give us an estimate. And, then, they were the only company to actually keep an appointment with us.Mike and Brian looked at all that needed to be done then gave us an estimate for the massive clean up, cutting the lawn weekly, and fertilizing the lawn. Then we started scheduling those services.Our property has always been one to admire. My husband and I both love gardening and we added annuals with lots of color to the front and back yards each Memorial Day with. My husband took great pride in his lush, green lawn. That is not how things looked this spring. Our yards were overgrown and full of weeds. We have a small pond and 8 foot stream in the back yard and you couldnt see either. It was very depressing after all the years we had been one of the best yards on the block. When the Greenwise team finished the initial clean up we were so pleased. I felt a weight lifted from me. And since that day Greenwise has kept our property looking great.Though we didnt plant our usual annuals this year because we were already in July, the mulch made out flower beds weed free and looking clean. I have been extremely pleased with Greenwise. My grass is healthier than it has ever been and it even grows underneath the large tree in the front yard. I love the fact that my grandchildren can play on the lawn and I know that they are not being contaminated with harmful pesticides and products. Yes, they are more expensive than many landscaping services but I feel the organic nature and their understanding of the science of what they do outweighs the extra cost.

Greenwise did our fall clean-up again this year and as always we were pleased with their service.

I often recommend Greenwise to neighbors and friends. I love that the products they use do no harm to the environment. My lawn was a mess with many different weeds. They explained that it would take a few years for their method to work, but eventually by feeding the grass, it would get rid of the weeds. It took about 3 years, but now I have a beautiful, healthy lawn with hardly any weeds. And I can feel good about not dumping harmful chemicals into the environment.

We have used Greenwise for several garden projects and have been very happy with each one. Our latest project involved the design and installation of a new paver patio and dry creek. Matt did a fantastic job of creating a design that is a natural integration of our home style and the native habitat of the area. NEVER TRUST this company! In my opinion/experience, they did a Bait and Switch tactic with me when I was looking for a quotation!I contacted Greenwise the first week of October for a quotation/contract on snow removal services for my apartment building this year. I met with Mark (the previous owner) who was pleasant and gave me several options for how to deal with my needs. The option I selected was a 10-pack solution where you buy 10 clearings at a time. This would allow me to budget on a per occurrence basis and not pay for the entire season up front. I thought the price was fair and I contacted Greenwise to have contracts completed for both of my buildings the very next day.Two weeks (and several calls later) I was finally presented with a contract for approval/payment. The contract that was presented was not a 10-pack but two different options that were season long. One was TWICE the price I had been quoted and the 2nd was FOUR TIMES!I spoke with Mark and he said that the new owner, Austin Hall, surprised him by not allowing him to live up to his commitment. Mark was apologetic and told me that since he sold the company in January, several things had changed with the company including, apparently, communication that he took pride in having open communications with both his customers and his staff.I expressed that I would like to give Austin a chance to live up to the initial commitment and have him call. Austin called and after speaking with him, it became apparent that his grasp of customer service is not equivalent to the previous owner.Additionally, during the discussion it became clear that either Mark or Austin was not telling the truth to me. Specifically, during my meeting with Mark, I was told that the option that I chose was something that they have done for years and that he had signed up other customers for the 10-pack this year. Austin told me that they were no longer offering this program to ANY customers this year.For all of the great reviews that this company has had in the past, I believe it is all due to the hard work of Mark (the previous owner). With my 25+ years of business consulting, I predict that this company, under the ownership/management of Austin Hall, will not exist for very long.I suggest you RUN AWAY from Greenwise Organic Lawn Care.

Marc sent Matt Petersen, landscape designer, to help us when another landscaper did not come through for us. In a short time on a small budget, Matt designed and installed a native plants garden that is already blooming with interest. I look forward to continuing to work with Greenwise to make our yard beautiful and sustainable.

Long story short - my car got stuck in the snow in my alley and no tow truck was willing to try to get in to pull in out. I called Greenwise to see if they could plow the alley so I could get out. Marc Wise was very nice on the phone and assured me they could help. He came out promptly (impressive considering it was a very busy day for plows) and pushed my car out himself! So kind and friendly, I will definitely be calling this Spring for landscaping! Thanks Marc!

Three strikes and youre out!I first used Greenwise in 2015 (?) just after purchasing a home and needed some clean-up. They did an okay job but thankfully my mom happened to be at my house because they started removing items (ie milkweed) that were never discussed to be removed.I then used Greenwise in 2018 to do a larger landscaping job. The end result turned out great, but getting it scheduled was HORRENDOUS.Giving them one last chance, I requested a spring clean-up this year. Marc never responded to my email request, so I called them. The person providing me a quote was very responsive and friendly. However, when it came time to do the work, is when it all went downhill. First, they showed up unannounced, didnt really have any idea what they were supposed to be doing. I appreciate trying to fit me in your schedule, but not if you dont know what youre doing - what would have happened if I wasnt around? Second, there is a leaf blower ordinance in Evanston - and apparently this Evanston based company doesnt like to adhere to it. It took three people to get the crew to stop. Third, after three visits because they continued to not complete the work, the work quoted and accepted is still not complete. I asked for a discount for services not rendered, of which they refused - let us come back to complete the work NO THANKS! Bill paid in full, will not be giving them another chance.The organic lawn care mission is wonderful - the follow through and service missteps are not.

Excellent service and quality. Knowing that my children and pets are 100% safe on our lawn is one less thing to be worrying about. Our lawn looks wonderful and the service Greenwise provides is top grade.

We could not have been more pleased with both Marcs design and the gardeners work. Lupe and his son, along with two additional helpers, all relatively new to Greenwise, did a phenomenal installing of our garden, taking care of little details we had not gotten to, transplanting even some plants for us, and ultimately performing very heavy work on a hot and muggy day in record time. They really knew plants, far better than many we have had before. In addition, Marc created a wonderful design that fulfilled a vision we had had but had not been able to realize. His creativity, quick understanding of our wishes, and warmth made him a great partner in installing beauty that should last some time. Everyone we have met from Greenwise has had not only high professional standards but great warmth and responsiveness. We could not be happier with the final results and the entire process.

We hired Greenwise to help with Landscape Architecture around our outdoor hot tub. The service and attention to detail was excellent. From the blue-stone pavers to built-in benches, everything was great. The entire team did a wonderful job and I would be delighted to recommend them to anyone.Additionally, during the heavy snow storms we had a few weeks ago, we hired Greenwise to plow our alley which the city does not do. They made the impossible possible and helped the many cars stranded inside the garages get out. Thank You.

I called for snow removal. It took days for them to tell me they couldnt do it. They did call back.

Marc and the whole team at Greenwise are incredible. Both the work they perform and their knowledge of sustainable practice are invaluable.Marc came out for a consultation the day after I called, and we talked through all of the work we needed done. Our yard was a wreck when we bought the house, but that did not deter Marc. We needed the front and back yards regraded, an old concrete walkway removed, a flagstone patio reset, a new paver walkway installed, new planting beds and a new tree planted. He thought it would take between 5 and 6 days of work.We agreed on a budget, and Marc worked with us to find deals on the tree and perennials we needed, and he also secured overstock pavers at a great price. Throughout the whole project, Marc called me at least twice a day to check in and give me updates.Marcs team came a few weeks later and made short work of our long list. Marc pushed to keep all the work to 5 days. We literally could not be any happier with their work. The patio is perfect, we love our tree, the walkway is a show stopper, and the sod is so nice our neighbors have hired Marc to do theirs too!

This company works with the customer and Earth-care in mind. They follow through with problems and are immediately helpful through email or phone. We have a beautiful new front lawn now and our front yard beds are looking good with brick paver edging.
