Narrative is in fact a cafe more than just a coffee shop. Their menu is well curated and every item makes you think Oh, I want to try that. I eventually landed on a Biscuit Benny and was it good! I had to rush my picture-taking ritual because I couldnt wait to jump into that creamy hollandaise and over easy egg covered biscuit. It wasnt a feast, but definitely a fête of deliciousness.Narrative Coffee is indeed a bit pricey, but its totally worth it. An 8oz latte for $5.5 is quite expensive, but the joy a great coffee brings is priceless. The latte is beautiful, heartening, smooth, tasty, a work of art.Service is friendly and earnest at Narrative, better yet is the vibrant atmosphere in the high-ceiling, brick-wall space and the effervescent look on everyones face. I went out Narrative Coffee happier than I came in, and that is definitely worth the extra bucks.
We dont think of breakfast as a five star experience. This one changed how I consider breakfast. Every item was perfectly cooked to compliment the others in the breakfast set. I dont usually like rare fried eggs, but the crunchy bacon, toast and potatoes made them necessary. Perfect seasonings. Beautiful presentation. Classy staff. Trendy environment. Should I rent a tux to have brunch here again tomorrow? Nah. These guys are all about the upscale, casual-cool vibe.
Located down the street from Funko. This is a good place for a coffee break, or Breakfast/snack/lunch.Simple menu consisting sandwiches, sweets and delicious coffee. Service is very friendly, they have indoor and outdoor seating with big windows and high ceilings.Order: Iced dirty chai 3x lavender syrup & delicious biscuit butter and jam.Omg the iced dirty chai was the best thing ever.
With the highest prices in Everett I hope the employees here are paid well and have good benefits. Anyway, the space is very cool and the people are very nice. Their espresso has a citrusy taste. Not my favorite but it might be yours.
The team at Narrative is top notch, friendly, communicates well, and seriously knows their coffee. The baristas have the espresso dialed in, are knowledgeable, and produce a very high quality product. Multiple single origin espresso offerings, multiple single origin filter options, and world class guest roaster bags for purchase. Highly recommend to anyone seeking a superb specialty coffee experience, this is the best third wave cafe in the area, hands down. I will absolutely be returning and strongly recommend to anyone who takes their coffee seriously; you will be well taken care of here!
Light filled space with that hipster vibe. Food was good and staff are friendly. Pricey but good. Oh and coffee is great!
These guys know what they’re doing here. It’s a good sign when espresso come with a mineral water and they have 2 espressos to choose from. I ordered the heirloom tomato sandwich and the tomato slice was a nice thick slice. I asked for salt because, well, that’s the only way to eat avocado and they gave me the coarse sea salt grinder…. Very nice touch.
Wonderful, high quality coffee with great food options. The barista pulled wonderful espresso, we had one of each variety and the batch brew was great as well. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!
Great pour-overs. Clean, and good service Pricey but well worth it. Try the breakfast burrito.
Great offerings, great selection. Prices are at a level where this is more of a special occasion place than an every day place for me.Coffee is very well done here and very tasty. The staff is friendly and professional. The food offerings are unique and definitely healthy. Great experience, definitely recommended.
Outstanding coffee shop... Great drinks, staff, and atmosphere. Everetts comfy living room
I love Narrative! I live about 20 minutes away but often choose to make that drive for their espresso with whole milk. The flavor is so smooth and velvety. They also offer a nice selection of sweet and savory pastries. The employees are so warm and welcoming, always greeting you as you walk through the door. The interior is equally as warm and inviting! Gorgeous exposed wood and an open “kitchen” area where you can watch drinks and food being made.I would highly recommend trying Narrative Coffee!
Beautifully thought out design, delicious paired with freshly made foods and coffee. You can really feel how much pride goes into the place here, its really refreshing.
The place is cute and staff is friendly . Prices are a bit high and the toast and potatoes that I had for breakfast were too crisp and hard . Eggs, bacon and hot chocolate were spot on .
More seating would be nice and maybe a public sink to wash hands. Ice cream and service was great.
Lovely place in downtown Everett. Relaxing atmosphere. We ate 3 meals in 2 days and everything we ate was delicious. Very friendly staff.
I go here everytime i am in the area. They serve good coffee but lack consistency. I could not drink the coffee last time i visited.
My favorite thing about Narrative is all the fun drawings of stick figures that Nate makes for me on the pastry parchment. They are very detailed and thoughtful, and I appreciate this type of hospitality. I also enjoy the food program and how the line cook and baristas like to wear matching or similar shirts and beanies. It’s charming in that way. All in all, the coffee at Narrative is exceptional, and so are the people who make it. I highly recommend a visit to this shop. Cheers!
Wow. I just had the BEST cup of coffee Ive ever had - and Im a former specialty coffee barista trainer. And the most amazing part was that it was just drip!!! If I had blind taste tested this, I would have sworn it was a pour over. Strong blueberry and raspberry notes through the whole cup, no bitterness and only the slightest bit of delightful acidity. More like drinking perfectly balanced tea. Wonderful job, Narrative folks! I already loved your work and am a regular, but todays drink really went above and beyond. Thank you.
Great coffee spot/cafe. The pour overs were good with a selective coffee list. The real stand-out however was the breakfast. They have a very limited menu but what they do they do very well. The tart and the baked eggs are definitely things I go back and have again. The atmosphere of the cafe is wonderful exposed brick walls, light and airy with skylights. Theres an honor bar in the back. And the entire place was very clean. Wish I lived closer Id come here all the time.
They dont have the street waffles anymore but they expanded their menu quite a bit, and the offerings are delicious! Ive tried almost everything on the menu and nothing disappoints. They got really creative during lockdown, offering breakfast burritos and rested iced bottled lattes to go. recommend
Nice quaint place with a variety of coffee and tea selections
Best coffee I have found in the area. Very pleasant. Food was also very nice. I plan on going back soon.
Recently found Everett is the city with characteristics coffee shop. This coffee may look like a lot of other modern coffee shops, their staffs are knowledgeable about their coffees and so friendly. The staffs are willing to talk with their customers and get to know them. Their spacious seats are also good for working.
Amazing coffee, perfect lattes, and their biscuits are the best I’ve ever had!! Really friendly staff. The dish ware here is so quality too—porcelain mugs made in Japan!
Narrative Coffee has a wonderful tone and excellent atmosphere. It’s a great place to sip on a ritual mocha (highly recommended as it’s not sweet like most) and have a conversation or dig into some homework. The high skeletal wood framed ceilings with skylights offer suburb lighting even in the common overcast days. The music is not disruptive and isn’t going to overpower your conversations but loud enough to enjoy if you are traveling alone.
After eyeing Narrative from afar for some time, I was delighted to stop by this 4th of July! It was such a open, airy atmosphere from the moment you step inside, and I loved seeing local musicians’ work alongside a variety of coffee goods for sale. Then, you get to the super friendly counter where Alex let me take my time and gave a great recommendation for an iced oat milk latte with their house brown sugar syrup — truly a pleasure to drink, so smooth and even. The coveted salted chocolate chip cookie blew my mind. Need that recipe. My only regret is not taking home the “Rested” housemade coffee and milk blend in quart containers. I can’t wait to come back on my next trip to Everett.
What an awesome Everett breakfast joint. Food was stellar, and the folk who run it were helpful and gracious. It is hip and young but the folk who eat there look to be a cross-section of Everett, at least the ones who can pop $10-20 for breakfast.Ill definitely put this on my short list of places to eat in Everett.
I’m just waiting for the house made eggnog tbh
One of the best coffeeshops in Seattle area. Consistency of a cappuccino is amazing and taste is great. Thank you
Saw Narrative was featured in the official City of Everett recommended places to check out. Narrative did not disappoint! The gentleman saw me duck in from the rain and was very friendly and talked me through their coffee styles and offerings. Personable, and made even the newest coffee drinker comfortable with their menu. The breakdown of espresso of more mild to adventurous was fun. Side note: I am originally from the Silicon Valley, I have been extremely blessed with some superb coffee experiences from some pretty high labeled spots, so you guys are right up there!Open space environment was well arranged. Music wasnt too loud. Open kitchen/prep space is cool to see the folks in action. Total pricing for an hand crafted espresso drink, solid breakfast, and tip was roughly $13. Yes, a bit pricey, but they earned it. Keep up the great work Narrative Coffee. Great service, mission, and products. I will put you on the map for anytime I am in the PNW!
This is absolutely one of the most charming coffee shops I have found in the Pacific Northwest, especially Everett Washington. It is near enough to the Amtrak train station that it’s a quick jaunt over while you were waiting for your train or passengers. Make sure you drive the gluten free around me and the iced latte They were both absolutely fabulous as were the baristas
Really love the decor & the vibe here. Its clean, open, airy, and indie minimalist. Fair pricing considering Id pay twice what I paid for that coffee - it was to die for!! $52 and change for 2 coffees, 2 sandwiches, and a parfait. The food was fantastic! It was filling and plated well even for to go dishes. They are practicing social distancing here, the main door stays propped open, and there is no seating available. Staff are super friendly, too! Would absolutely recommend!!
Great food and good Coffee. Lots of choices which is a plus!
Very nice coffee with cute design! They dont have soy milk unfortunately
Good vibe and interesting specialty coffees
This place is a solid 45 mins away from my home (Seattle) but I make a point to stop when I go north and it has become our FAVORITE coffee shop from all 5 states Ive lived in. Kudos to Narrative.Everytime I come here I am amazed at their coffee and how they brew it. Its delicious and the coffee/water ratio is so PERFECT Ive been trying to mimic it at home. Ive experienced flavors in my coffee here that I never expected from my cup. Also the biscuits are homemade so do yourself a favor and get one. I suggest the bacon breakfast sandwich.
Tried this place after getting a gift card from someone. I am glad we did! We got the apple caramel coffee and a chocolate mocha. For food, we got the breakfast biscuit (with bacon), chocolate croissant, 2 chocolate chip cookies and a muffin. ALL OF THEM WERE AMAZING! My favorite was the chocolate chip cookie and the biscuit. That chipotle aioli sauce is to die for. Our only complaint is that they did not have a drink containing white chocolate but the food made up for that. We will definitely be going back.
Gorgeous space, gracious employees, excellent food, and flawless coffee. Whats not to love?
Variety of great looking sandwichs.
Stopped by today for a quick carry-out order. 2 espresso beverages, a roll of homemade cookie dough, bacon cheddar croissant, and a jug of rested iced vanilla latte.I really appreciate how efficiently (and distantly) the interior is set up. My order was sitting on their online orders counter which was on the other side of the shop, away from the long line of customers so I didnt have to get too close to anyone.Employees were as friendly and helpful as ever. The in-house food items are topnotch and the coffee outstanding. These baristas are true artists!
Worth the trip to Everett, espresso old fashion is radical
You can count on Max and his team to provide a friendly, premium experience at their shop, along with one of the tastiest coffee beverages you can get your hands on.Narrative has a strong commitment to abiding by the best practices as business owners and lovers of coffee. If you havent checked them out yet, definitely make time to drop by.Theyve also done a commendable job at adapting to Washingtons regularly changing restrictions for 2020. Drinks can be ordered and paid for online, along with purchasing many take-home items for your enjoyment later.
Great people, great coffee, and epic biscuits.
Stop what you’re doing and go here!!! Only been once but the food and coffee were amazing. I live 30 minutes away and I’ll definitely be back.
Not a bad place - just not at all what I was expecting or hoping for. After wanting to visit for a long time, based on photos and customer reviews, I was sadly disappointed. I had hoped to find a spacious and cozy feeling Coffee House as so many photos made it look and reviewers spoke of - for me it was neither from the moment I walked in.This is more of a hipster cafe serving gourmet, specialty food offerings and hand crafted coffee beverages. A bit pricey but inline with the business model that they appear to be going for; locally sourced foods on the menus and performing artists, on occasions. They offer various specialty roasters/coffees along with local bakery items, on occasion. No sugar free offerings ... know this before you arrive if in need of that dietary need for medical or personal choice. They do have Spenda but not in packets, they scoop it for you.The ambiance would, at first appearance, make you think possible coffee house but you soon find that the vibe and seating does not really provide for that.Four small tables, one slightly larger table, two raised sitting bars and two long sofas, still a small place with no tangible vibe of coffee bar, its open, highly lighted, deafening echo when conversation peaks and most people came to eat, not simply drink coffee and chill or work on a task normally found in a Coffee House.I would come back and have lunch or grab a brief moment over a cup of coffee while relaxing on the couch but I would suggestion it to someone looking to work on their book, business or other endeavor. This is not that kind of coffee place in my opinion.Narrative Coffee Co. brings a new flavor to Everett, a much needed one. Its just not the coffee ambiance or experience I personally was hoping for. I hope they continue to find success and continue to set the business bar for supporting local artists within or community.
As always Narrative continues to be a great coffee option in Everett. The chocolate chip cookies are excellent, and they always have a selection of curated coffees to try.To be honest this place is much better when there is no pandemic, the café itself is a great place to hang out, study, or work. Right now your only option is walk in to take out or curbside pick up. I hope this business weathers the storm and lives to sling coffee another day.
I will kill for their burritos and the staff is super nice. Atmosphere is great too...but honestly the coffee, specifically the mochas...taste really really really bad and are very expensive.
Great coffee and ambience. Definitely will visit again
If youre looking for a low key, chill place to enjoy a masterfully brewed espresso, this is the place for you. This is right next to the courthouse in Everett, so its convenient to stop at before or after any business there. I included a picture of two different cappuccinos I had. The pastry is a chocolate filled croissant. I will be coming back. Often.
Nice to sit outside the café
I love Narrative for so many reasons, but here are a few: awesome, friendly service; kind, thoughtful baristas/staff; gluten-free offerings that taste great; and continual adaptation to follow government mandates (and these crazy times) with poise and thoughtfulness while still bringing their amazing food and culture to Everett! Can’t recommend this place highly enough! Go for the potatoes—they’re amazing!!
Another artisans approach to coffee but the people inside showed a little wear from their day and had a little less of the veneer of service minded appeal.Thats not a knock but with several less than admirable aspects, how can I give 5 stars? When I feel like a burden rather than the appreciation a customer SHOULD feel for choosing a small business over the easy to find juggernauts? It should feel like a win and validation every single time they earn a curious customer. In capitalism, a customer is one point against the competition. And these people didnt really seem to embody that.Maybe I caught them on a less happy day. Its possible. Coffee was good but the flavor may have been better if served with a smile.
Order the avocado toast.. its to die for.
First of all, wow what friendly staff! So helpful in deciding what to get of their varied offerings. Really sweet craft coffee spot serving some really choice selections. Skilled baristas, relaxing atmosphere in a historic building, and amazing food all compound the great coffee.Go in the morning for a tasty breakfast, stay afterwards for some great coffee.
Delicious coffee! Id love to come back sometime when we can sit inside again. Their space is gorgeous.
The best around. Cant go wrong here
This is coffee shop is very sophisticated, which would have been a pleasant find in Seattle. It would be less surprising in LA or New York. The coffee is very good, the clientele (other than myself and my friend) young, pleasant, and well mannered. The proprietor caught me going out and very politely pointed out that the shirt i had on might be offensive to some of my brothers and sisters.
I got a latte and a mocha with oat milk. Both were delicious. I really liked the ability to pre-order and then pick up at the counter when you arrive. The barista was friendly and made some pretty latte art. I will be back!
A favorite spot of mine! Staff is always impeccable, food is to die for, and the coffee is just out of this world. They have live music here and other fun coffee events from time to time so be sure to follow them on social media to get the deets. They are also majorly kid friendly without taking away the wonderful ambiance of a fabulous coffee shop. A fun place to start a fun day trip with out of town guests since it is so close to downtown.
The best coffee around!Tried the biscuit sandwich and it was amazing, the egg was cooked perfect. Great service and friendly staff.
My husband and I went with a friend for breakfast and we loved it. I got the seasonal drink: caramel apple latte and i was pleasantly surprised how good it was☺️ my husband went for seconds on coffee lol he got the breakfast burrito and he really enjoyed it. we will come back again when we are in the area!
Fantastic specialty coffee. Espresso drinks were great and the pour over was just as good.
Oat Chai is amazing
Great coffee and great food.
Everetts best coffee shop in 2016, and friendliest staff award in 2017.I visited yesterday and it was an absolute delight. Wide variety of beans from amazing roasters. Ryan made great recommendations and skillfully brewed two delicious cups of single origin coffees on the v60.Without a doubt, Ill be looking forward to a visit to Narrative again.
Best coffee around. Even if you are just driving through you have to stop and try it. These guys finally know what they are doing
By far, top 5 coffee shops in the Pacific Northwest. I love the city of Everett (I’m a little biased), but they’re nothing but great people who take their job very seriously. From the espresso, brew methods, and coffee rotation, Maxwell Mooney and the team set the standards extremely high. 💯 if you’re visiting from out of state, do not hesitate to stop by this amazing coffee shop. You won’t regret it ❤️
Everyone was super kind, coffee was incredible, and they took covid very seriously.
Best coffee & hot chocolate in Everett. Amazing homemade food. Can’t go wrong with anything you order.
