Went to buy a five string bass guitar, because years ago this was a good place to buy an instrument. Walked in, there was one other person there talking on their cell phone who I assumed was an employee since they were going behind one of the counters. Apparently could not be bothered to get off their phone, so I decided to look at their selection on my own. I couldnt get very close to their basses since they are kept hanging behind the counter, out of reach. It looked like they had about six basses to choose from, and only two were five string. The two they had didnt look like name brands (from afar). Still no assistance, so I walked out. If they had a selection and assistance there was a guaranteed sale for them today, but they have obviously gone downhill as an instrument store. No doubt they will blame Covid as every underperforming business does now (even though online stores have no trouble getting plenty of stock).Last time I bought a bass at Absolute ten years ago, they had a good selection and you could go to a private room to play an instrument, and try different ones. Now, they have no selection, little assistance, and you cant get close to the guitars on your own. Guess I will go to the big chain store down south from now on, as this is now just a place for kids to get lessons. Sad.
No selection. They had 8 guitars. Whomever they had working with the guitars had very minimal knowledge on his limited amount of products. Attitude is not a good one for sales. This used to be an AWESOME place 15 yrs ago. They wont be open much longer. Centerville Music is the only hope dayton has currently for a ma and pops place.
Disappointed by the lack of customer service or just general friendliness. Not going back because the internet exists and I can easily order things cheaper without having to settle for something I really dont want, or deal with the unappreciation of showing up at a brick and mortar.
Nice guitar store in very interesting Fairborn. Stopped in for guitar strings AxWax. Nice conversation with both employees and a very nice store. I will be back!
Loved this place. Customer service is exceptional and the people there take the time to give indepth discussion about the establishment.
Went in to look for an electric acoustic guitar and found a Yamaha silent guitar. Staff was very knowledgeable and showed us all the features of it. Needless to say we bought it. Price was competitive with online retailers but by going to a brick and mortar we were able to get more out of the shopping experience. I highly recommend them.
James was very helpful in helping my dad find a tuning key for his bass. He went above and beyond!
Very friendly staff
I dropped a guitar off to be repaired early July. The repairmen assured me that this repair “would take less than a week.” I never get a call for about two weeks. Finally, I decide to call myself to see what’s going on. Whomever answered told me they’d call back to let me know what’s going on. Never received a call for about another week. I decide to call again to get details on the situation. Come to find out, the part was on a back order. I called other times, but still, never got a call back. I would say I called this store six to eight times for specific details on the repair, they told me they would call back, but never did. As a business, it’s YOUR job to contact YOUR customers on repairs that will be late. A one week repair turned into a two month ordeal, so I finally decided to come pick up my guitar to take it elsewhere. Never had an experience like this; I’m not going back.
Great and friendly staff. Extremely knowledgeable about the insturments they sell. I took my guitar in to have it set and it is playing better than ever. An amazing setup guy. Great all around equipment. Planning on going back soon.
I bought my guitar here last year. The staff were all very nice and helpful. Definitely recommend this place!
I took a classic 70s era electric guitar here for repair. It needed 2 things complete. I wanted to up grade the plastic nut to a bone one and it needed a volume pot replaced. I supplied both of the parts. I can not tell you which person worked on it but I can tell you the result. The nut was not replaced by the bone nut it was plastic. It was the wrong size with the wrong string spacing. There were glue globs and smears on the top and sides of the headstock. The volume pot was replaced with a no name brand pot. When I asked about them not using the parts I supplied I was told that I didnt supply any. When I asked about the glue globs I was told that they were there when I dropped it off. Ended up taking it to another repair shop. Cost almost 250 dollars to fix what these guys screwed up.
Something happened in my case, where the company failed to contact me because they forgot about my guitar for 2 weeks (which is when I had to call them to remind them). After a “2 week repair”, I have just today received my guitar (6 weeks later). My guitar is now beaten up along the neck, and has solidified glue bumps that are not removable after poor handling by Absolute Music’s repair clientele. Not only is my guitar handled with no care, but poor service was given, without any repercussion. There was a clear mistake on the stores behalf, and not even an apology was given. They proceeded to make me pay full price for the guitar back. To the costumers who are reading this, I would personally suggest going somewhere else because there are faster, cheaper, and safer ways to get your guitar fixed
Unfortunately I cant give a rating of 0 on here or else I would, because that is as much help as I got form this store. I just stopped in to get some valve oil and ear buds and nobody helped me. Nobody even looked at me the whole time I was there standing by the register. I stood at that register for 25 minutes while multiple workers just walked around and did Absolutely Nothing to help me.
A little over priced for a garage type musician, but very good source for students taking musical extracurriculars. They do good repair work and usually give lessons on the fundamentals for popular instruments, like guitar. Expect to haggle over prices.
I was very pleased with the customer service here. I had called and spoke with Cecil about doing a set up on a new guitar I just purchased. After he tuned it properly, it really sang! He also set me up on a burning deal on a hard case. He went out of his way to help me out. I will definitely be going back in the future!
I have had it with this place. Last spring they said that I could sell a PRS custom on consignment. So to sell it faster I only asked like 300 bucks (this guitar was only 2 months old was in New like condition). Ok Ill take the hit for thats on me. l would call about it ever month or so to see if it sold. Every time they had to look my lnfo up like it was lost in the shuffle.finally one day in the summer I stopped in and I was told it had sold. But I could not have my money because the person was making payments on it . They said call back later. So once again l called back every month or so. They kept acting like Im lost in the shuffle. And no the guitar is not paid off yet . Finally I stop in a couple of weeks ago and they say my check will be in the mail. But it wont be 300.00 It will be a little less than that because I had to pay sales tax on it. By this time I will agree to anything just throw me a peanut for crying out loud. That was over a couple weeks ago. Still no check .I guess that im out of the dough! A brand new PRS that cost me over 850.00 bucks and resale value was at least 550.00 and I am basically giving it up to the Absolute Music charity fund. What can I say. I have just been worn out with the whole thing. Stick a fork in me .. I am done!
Geno is the man! Bought an Epi LP from Guitar Center (boo) and they sent it home with me almost unplayable. Neck too straight, action too high etc. Called them the next day and they offered to correct it... For $55... Geno set it up for me free of charge, even though I did not buy it there. Skip the big box BS at GC and go to Absolute where they actually give a damn.
Not what it use to be back when Chuck first opened the store. He made sure people were taken care of and got the best deal possible! Now he doesn’t care about what happens to people especially old time customers who spent thousands in his store. I was personally ripped off on a Mandolin I bought and he didn’t care.! It was only a couple months old and the finish started coming off. He also knows how I take care of things I have. Very particular in the way they are stored and taken care of. I still have everything I bought from him. And it works just like New! He would not honor the warranty, neither would Gibson. That’s why I no longer buy anthing with the Gibson name. It’s the same as the store, take their money and send them out the door. I’ve known Chuck for almost 43 yrs and every thing I bought back in the 80s & 90s I bought from him personally. Now he won’t even give you the time of. Day! So sad how greed takes a hold of a persons life and destroys friendships. I buy now for the small shops that care about their name and customers. Sure is funny how time changes things and people. I recently sent him two messages about a question for setting up a PA in a Church. Guess what I never got a call or return message! Just don’t care! So Sad!!! That’s why I won’t shop at ABSOLUTE MUSIC ANYMORE!!!
Very friendly and helpful staff who fixed up my new guitar for free, as well as having a large selection of musical accessory’s
One of the best music stores I have gone to in my life! The staff and service is outstanding, the prices are affordable, and the quality of the instruments is top-notch!
Kool store.everybody was extremely nice / professional.Geno worked with me on price.so i bought a new yamaha.Be back real soon for a new amp. Seems to me they went the extra mile for me.actually had fun in there.everyone was really kool.
Great staff and always willing to work with you to Meet your needs.
Waited for 15 minutes and was never waited on, service sucks! Store seems nice for musical instruments but they really need to work on service.
Great Service.
Unfortunetly I took my acoustic for its annual set up, where it was having an issue with a pot that couldnt be touched without sending loud noises through the PA. I asked if they were Taylor certified, they stated yes, I told them the problem and asked them to do whatever needed to fix it. Guitar set up was good, but they clearly never plugged the guitar in to see if the contact cleaner would fix the problem because it didnt, and it didnt even help. Was a little dissapointed on the wasted time to have a guitar fixed (expecially one of this cost), and to not have it serviced as requested and written on the documentation. Otherwise they have always been good to me in regards to sales in general, but I will be getting set ups elsewhere.
Offer cool deals for small town shop
