Hands down one of the absolute best Italian subs I have ever eaten. From the sub roll to the quantity and quality of meats and toppings, just pure perfection! The staff were friendly and work diligently to serve each customer fast and with a smile. First time customer, but will now return every time we are in the area!

I was in the mood for an Italian sub and I happened to see that The Deli is nearby. I didn’t know that it was located at it’s current location as my husband frequented this establishment over the years when it was at its prior location. This was my first visit and it was great! Covid procedures are in place and when we went in to place our order, we happened to be there at the right time as it was not crowded. I ordered the “Mad Italian” with everything on it & my husband ordered the meatball sub with only cheese & sauce. While we were waiting on our sandwiches to be made, it was interesting to see some of the Italian products sold with vintage album covers gracing the wall above. We took our food to go and it was a good twelve minute drive back to our home. I was very pleased when I arrived home to see that my sub was intact as it was tightly wrapped in wax paper and butcher paper. Since I had everything on my sub which included mayo & oil & vinegar, their freshly baked Italian roll was thin but able to withstand the generous portion of cold cuts & vegetables. The roll did not fall apart which is a big plus in my book as nothing is worse when you are trying to eat a sub and the bread disintegrates upon the first few bites. At The Deli, Gabriella’s Italian Cookies (from Brooklyn, NY) are also sold. These cookies are always a delicious way to end a meal. There are multiple locations of this establishment in Washington D.C. and in Virginia. What a great local treat, we will definitely be back!

The cold subs here are great! Plenty of options with good bread and topping options. I typically get the Italian stallion and love their hot peppers. I haven’t gotten a hot sub so I can’t speak to how those are. One thing to note is that they do close pretty early so keep they in mind!

These are some of the best subs I have ever had. The meats are fantastic, and the portions are large. Come hungry and leave satisfied!

Nearly July 2021. Huge sign on the door, EVERYONE must wear a mask. No mask no service.No business.Not from me. Ive been vaccinated and wont be back until they change that. Have not had one establishment refuse service for not wearing a mask in over a month.

The steak & cheese had all big chucks of fat in it, not nice thin sliced steak. The chicken was just ok. The cold cut was sloppy. Their customer service could improve some. If you ask a simple question they are rude.

Got a millino and it was really good, seemed decently large for 8 as well. The paper wrap on the sub was pretty leaky though

The food was absolutely amazing! I had il maestro sub and a cannoli. The service was great and I will definitely be going back.

I know you might look at the prices and think I can get that at subway for 70% less but this places PACKS the sandwich full of meat. You very very very much get what you pay for. And it tastes awesome!Super friendly service too. The folks there made some wonderful suggestions.

I am super picky when it comes to my Italian subs! I am from the North East and have always struggled to find a really solid place that focuses mainly on cold subs. This place nails the everyday Italian sub with a handful of variations. Some hot subs are available as well. Top notch place that always plays really good music!

Average subs… But the worst is there still requiring you to wear a mask… Won’t be back until mask mandate is lifted

If you a big fan of Best Deli near George Mason then you will be an even bigger fan of The Deli. An 8 sub is almost 10 and a 12 even longer. The ammount of food you get shoved into these subs is amazing and from a person that hates pickles these are the best around. The Deli is a must stop for me on a day when work happens to bring me by.

I LOVE THIS PLACE. I moved from jersey 2 years ago from an Italian family, and this place ROCKS! It’s authentic Italian that I would feed to my family. I always get “The Soprano” with prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, and all the toppings. I always get the 12” so I can eat half for lunch and half for dinner. And they have all kinds of jars with peppers and such for sale too. My favorite part is the bottle root beers, ya just can’t find those anywhere nowadays.

Havent been there in yrs. Since they were next to KMart. Always loved their fresh meat and cheese & cannolis stopped by today at 6pm. & they close at 5pm. Why????My heart was broken 😕😕

The last time I bought a sub from The Deli was when they were located next to the old Kmart before all was torn down for the new Lowes. Nothing has changed over the years. They were very good back then and they still are today. Meat and rolls are fresh and I love their pickles. Now that I know the owner didnt retire, just moved his store, I will be back again soon.

Best subs in the region. Bread is soft on the inside but perfectly crusty out. Tons of delicious meat and the hot peppers make the sub. Love the wide selection of drinks available too. Truly a top notch deli.

The subs are delicious! The prices can be higher if you order a premium sandwich like the Super Smokey or the Hog, but only because they add a ton of deli meat! One of these sandwiches can be two meals. The bread makes the sub, and their bread is fresh baked. Comes with a dill pickle, if you like pickles.

Was in the mood for an Italian sub today and googled Italian Delis near Fairfax and stumbled across this gem! Sitting at my desk eating a heavenly sub as I write this review! This will be my go to deli from here on out. Bread is a perfect combination of chewy yet soft. The meats are plentiful and fresh. Juicy, non hothouse tasting tomato and the perfect amount of toppings. Couldnt be happier!

We have enjoyed The Deli for many years. This is there new Fairfax location. Always fresh meats and cheeses. Fresh sub rolls baked daily. Never have had a bad experience. Very affordable, too!

Great food, great ambiance. Weve gotten Italian sandwiches here a couple of times. The staff is polite and pleasant. The food, despite it being Italian meats and cheeses and associated veggies and such, is not overly salty. The bread is soft with a slight crust. The music is enjoyable and they have album covers (mainly 70s and 80s) decorating the walls. Best thing- pizzelles to go.

When I think Cheese steak, I picture someone cooking (chopping and seasoning the meat) the steak to order. Instead the steak was precooked in placed in a warmer, which meant that the meat was just added to the bread with cheese. So again not the best, not the worst just okay.

I have been coming here for 18yrs and the food,flava, & family (owners) havent changed. Its still the best place around. Truly love it all!

Great sub! I had the Hot Sicilian. Unlike the big brand sandwich shops, this fresh sub roll was loaded with meat. Fast friendly service I will definitely go back.

This is my favorite deli, but a few days ago I went into the store in Fairfax (off Lee Hwy) and there was a customer there without a mask. Worse, the two people behind the counter didnt have masks. I will NOT go back there until this changes.

2.5 stars. Fast and friendly service, but the steak and cheese sub was gross. Steak and veggies arent cooked on a flat-top, but just kept warm all day in a steamer. Onions and mushrooms arent caramelized and taste soggy and half-cooked. It was also drowning in mayo. I think I may have mis-ordered and should have gone with a cold cut option. Ill give it one more try.

My friend and I Got a steak and cheese. The meat was microwaved in Tupperware and slapped onto a cold sub because their toaster was down(reading other reviews its been down for days). Bad tasting toppings. It was the worst steak and cheese I ever had.

Great hoagies and staff at this store. I have gone there a few times and the food has been excellent everytime. The hoagies are stuffed with plenty of meat and veggies.

The subs here are excellent, plenty of meat and delicious bread. Order a full length for you and a friend, trust me you only need one for two people.

They dont adhere to the hours posted on the front door. Waited 15 minutes after it was suppose to open before I left. Not a light on or person in the place.
