I called to make sure they had a eco 250 in stock. They said yes and gladly took my money. When I called them after a week without hearing from anyone, they said “whoops, we sold your unit to someone else; we’ll order you a new one.” and told me it “wouldn’t be that long”. I had to call them a month later to see where it was and they told me it would be “early 2022” ( many months after my order that was supposed to ship within 7 days). When I go to cancel, I can’t get a call back or my refund right away. Not once have they been honest, easy to work with, or communicative. Buyer beware!!!!
These guys and gals are very helpful. Virginia outdoor power has what you need for any outdoor project. My family has been visiting them for some 20 years. Their name says it all” outdoor power equipment.” When you pull up you will always see tree crews and landscapers outside. Pros come here
Very high prices. The turn around was horrible. Had to wait over 4 weeks for just one chainsaw repair. Would not recommend or go back
One of my favorite spots! Tools and equipment, great service and inventory! Will be back
I called and they had backlog of 4 weeks. But they actually diagnosed and gave me repair instructions over the phone...worked like a charm. Thank you...saved time and money! Hard to find good, honest repair services out there...this is one of them.
Christopher Foster helped me out, great guy to work with. Good place for any new tools.
Great to have these places, genuine and easy spare parts for DIY as well as new machines top brands..plus the comfort of reapir..man, its heaven for reapir freaks like me...I love fixing stuff... highly recommend...
Thank you Mauricio! You did a great job informing me of the products I was interested in. Im very happy with the Stihl power blower you showed me. If I had a customer satisfaction survey from your business Id give you the highest ratings available. Feel free to pass these comments up your management chain!Don StaggsFairfax, VA
I went in on a recent weekday afternoon. No one was in the store, as four employees sat behind plexiglass doing nothing. They could not have been less helpful and seemed to take particular joy at informing me that it would be four weeks before someone could look at my power washer. I get the wait, but the attitude, forget it. I won’t be going back and neither should you.
I would have to say iam very disappointed with there return policy and refund and how they have dealt with this problem. Honestly I will never buy from them again . Also there false advertisement on equipment. I Used the equipment 15mins at max. I couldnt return it. we didnt like speed of ts440 but employee stated and lied that it had a bit more power than ts 420. Being a business owner I recommend other people with businesss not to buy from them. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!
The gentlemen who work here are very knowledgeable and patient. They carry the best products and all the accessories.
We got there at 5:50 pm (10 mins before closing time) and Mauricio one of the salespersons who helped me buy my yard boss tiller, helped me with a question about the weed eater attachment. I wanted to know if you could put a brush cutter grass blade on the attachment. He couldnt awnser the question himself, so he called corporate and he said thatl they were not awnsering so he actually tried to put it on the attachment himself, but it was not working, so we were there 23 minutes after his quiting time. If you see Mauricio, tell him that I sent you. All employees know what they are talking about, they love their jobs. 1,000,000 out of 5 stars
I WILL NEVER RETURN! Unprofessional, untrustworthy, extremely rude and very poor service on my sales and maintenance experiences. I can’t believe I even went back again. I have never had a good experience here. My former landscaper pleaded with me not to patronize this store and he was right. I’ve made at least 4 major purchases over the years including a generator, snow blower, lawnmower, pressure washer ... and paid way too much for way too shoddy maintenance. Most recently, I called to ask if they have a Stihl RB 600 in stock. “Yes, we have 3” Great, I’ll be there in 15 minutes. They sold me a bent unit, put it in my truck and I realized it was bent. Manager came out - I said I wanted a different one. He said I’d have to take the one off the floor. I said I wanted a new one. He said they didn’t have any more. I said but your salesperson said there were 3. He looked at the salesperson and again said we only have 2, then looked at me and said it’s this one or the one on the floor, which do you want? I should have said neither but I didn’t. I regret it now. Let me say it again, I WILL NEVER RETURN!
Professional, friendly and fair pricing.
Bought a $2500 Toro Turfmaster (the commercial one) and within 8 mows it was stalling out. Took it back to them, they had my number, and after a full day of having it, I had to go back to them to find out that it was a bad gas tank. They told me 2-3 business days to get a new one in. Its May 24th, and I have had to contact them 2 other times to find out if the part was in like they said....every time I get the run around.UPDATE-- JUNE 11: While we all have things that happen in life that are beyond our control, there are some things that we all fall short on. One for me is patience. While I wish the communication chain for this would have been better, in the end (as of today), the issue has been resolved. VOP called me and is fixing the machine today as the part came in. Rick Thomas and I made amends for our interactions, and I am satisfied. It was not VOPs fault for the part needed (gas tank), but the manufacturer. Toro has known about the issue with their gas tanks, and they are yet to come clean to the public about it.
Great down to earth guys who really know their power equipment. I had a leaf blower that was constantly leaking fuel and finally it refused to start. They diagnosed the issue (well, they found more than one), and fixed everything for a cost that was less than purchasing a new gas leaf blower. The blower works like its brand new. I would definitely trust these guys with all my gas powered lawn equipment.
Do not buy or fix from this placemulching is ok but not for buying or fixing equipmentexpensive and deteriorating business model
Got the help and parts I needed from helpful sales people.
Christopher Foster was extremely helpful and resourceful when I came in with my snow blower that needed a new carburetor. He gave me great advice and Will Definitely Reccomend this place to everyone. Great staff and very friendly
I had been looking for an 8k generator everywhere after hurricane Laura. Finally found one at Vopec. Mauricio and VP were so helpful getting me fixed up that I will not forget them. Excellent customer service and very professional. Thanks again!
Had a Honda generator with a recall so I called them to ask how long it would take to fix it. Was told by two different people 2 to 2.5 weeks because they were very busy (its a 30 minute job, tops). I dropped it off and called 4 weeks later after hearing nothing from them. Was told they just got the part in (how convenient) and that theyd call me in the next day or two when it was done. Theyve now had it 7 weeks and havent called me once. I still dont have it back.
The trifecta of excellent customer service, superb mechanics and friendly staff! I committed the ultimate snowblower sin--left ethanol gasoline in my machine for over a year. Yep, you guessed it--it was dead in the water.I took it to the pros at Virginia Outdoor Power Equipment for repairs. Mauricio Sandoval handled the check-in professionally and helped me unload the blower from my truck. I received a full repair breakdown and cost estimate within 3 days. Repairs, including replacement of the carburetor, drain and flushing crank case and fuel tank, were completed in four days, ahead of the initial estimate for repair time. High quality work delivered ahead of schedule! Chris explained each of the repairs in detail and instructed me how to avoid this from happening again. Virginia Outdoor Power Equipment is now my go to for maintenance and support for my snowblower and chain saw. It should be yours too!
Helpful people, good place to buy commercial grade Power equipment
I love this place it is like a kid going into the toy store always wanting every toy ! this is equipment which they have a huge selection of power equipment so whatever you need
Friendly and fast service. All the supplies you need.
My first time at the store was absolutely a great experience when you have a staff like CHRISTOPHER who done wonderful job helping me out what i need for my stihl power tools. He made it so easy for me to understand how to take care of my blower,I will definitely recommend the store and Christopher as well very professional help. TWO THUMBS UP..
Good customer service
DO NOT rely on VOPEC for quality service. It takes FOREVER to complete repairs, is expensive, and they do not stand behind their service especially when it is faulty.
Walked in last Saturday, 09/12/2020, to purchase some parts for my 034 saw. I walked up to the second gentleman from the right and stated “I’m looking for a bunch of parts for my 034”. His reply was “do you have part numbers”? I said I do not, he then smirked and slightly shook his head. At that point I told him I’ll go somewhere else. I then went to Scott’s Turf Equipment in Manassas. That gentleman at Scott’s was incredibly friendly and super helpful.
Took two 81 link chains to be sharpened to another location near Springfield. They advised chain sharpening all done at Fairfax location. Cost around $35. Here is how one chain came back. One grind down into the link and multiple others ground teeth to almost straight with no cupping left. For the cost of $35 the job done is unacceptable and I am surprised there must have been zero inspection after completing the job.Only reason this is two stars instead of 1 is because the person in charge at the Springfield store was courteous the entire time. He took the chain back to send back to shop manager but called me back just after I left and sold me new replacement chain for $15 so I wouldn’t be down the time of waiting for the chain to be sent out and back.I would work with the Springfield office for sales again but I would not recommend for sharpening.
Did a warranty repair on my mower. it was adequate service. got it running but took the better part of a month. Very surly group of guys working there. First thing, you gotta give us $100 just to look at it. This is that type of place. The real issue is when I went back as they are the authorized dealer for my mower, with a gift certificate from the manufacturer to spend on parts. One look at the certificate and an immediate no. They are the authorized dealer, this certificate is for authorized dealers. Just NOPE not our business even tho we fixed the mower under warranty from the manufacturer.I actually did call the day before saying I had a certificate and they said come on down and well take care of you!Legitimate lie over the phone to get people in.A bunch of jokers - this is part of being an authorized dealer - to work with manufacturers to make the consumer satisfied. I felt like I was talking to maybe 8th grade educated fellows - sorry to be blunt.Go anywhere else! They have the lowest reviews for a reason. This is the type of place you wonder how they are still in business.
Best Stihl dealer around!
Knowledgeable staff and outstanding service.
Great help and service. I run an architecture and building company. Trust me, dont shop at a Home Depot or simar for equipment. Form a relationship with an expert. Much greater value over the years!
Driven to Give Credit where its Due!Despite purchasing a high end Honda Push Mower from a totally different location in Sterling (That I will never return to!) I brought this premium lawn care product to the Virginia Outdoor Power Equipment Store in Fairfax for the 2nd consecutive year. Due to it having not one, but TWO blades I did not want to take a risk in damaging this machine just trying to remove a set of two blades. I should note that I called the store prior to drop off and spoke to the Manager Dave Williamson. He stated it usually takes about 1-2 days to do such maintenance.Upon my arrival there, I saw a waiting line at least 12-15 people deep. Due to injuries sustained in combat in Iraq myself and my Service Dog became quite a bit unnerved and could not stand in line without duress. I asked a passing Store Employee if I could speak w Dave who came out to see me. I reminded him of our conversation which I fully understood him to forget. He was kind enough to take my info, help me get the mower out of my truck, and informed I would be contacted when it was finished. Due to his kind demeanor and generosity I then requested XXXX. This was when Store Rep Maritzio immediately said he would be right out with it because Anthony had informed him ahead of time I was coming.Maritizio (SP) not only went over all that was done on the Service Ticket but helped me lift the mower into the bed of my truck which would have been impossible without him! This was when I personally told him how incredibly impressed I had been from the very first call with Dave to everyone who had been instrumental in servicing this great mower! Not for one second did anyone ask me where I had purchased the machine and they ALL went well out of their way to help me - Service Dog or not!I have every intention to return to these folks with this mower, my Stihl Leaf Blower and even my 4-Stroke Weed Honday WeedEater too! There is no doubt in my military mind that the staff there has been trained in ADA Laws on Service Animals and perhaps even the visible anxiety from a customer with PTSD. They ALL have earned my business for as long as I reside in Fairfax County! -- I HOPE ALL OF YOU READ THIS GENTS!!Job VERY well done!Semper Fidelis -William Wallace
Just bought a lawn mower from them and they were excellent to work with. Walked me through the various features and price points every model had until I found one that matched what I was looking for. Bought a leaf blower from them a few months back, but felt compelled to write a review after my latest purchase. They unboxed it, registered the product, filled it with gas and oil and fired it up to make sure it worked properly. Even loaded it into my car as well. Would 100% recommend over Home Depot and the like for any lawncare needs
Good local store with the inside track for any small engine/ lawnmower parts. Good customer service and follow up!
I will not recommended.Poor service. I call to look for chain for a chainsaw. Got disconnected 3 timesLast call, they told me that they will call me to let me know if they have the size. Never callI when to the store and surprise. No chain. They guy were typical u“Uh ha we were about to call you”Just try better place. More professional and people that want to work and take work seriously.
Great selection of products and fair prices, nice knowledgeable staff
I continue to have a great experience here. Their service is quick and the prices are very reasonable. From previous experience here I know that everything will be fixed properly. Ive found the front desk to be professional, friendly and courteous. While I was there dropping off a number of pieces to be serviced I overheard one of the guys at the front desk asking a woman about what she needed the cordless leaf blower, and then gave her a recommendation that did not involve the most expensive one. He detailed the pros and cons of the 2 blowers and let her ask questions to help make her decision.
Best money I spent in 2018 was pick up, deep clean/tuneup, and delivery of my snow blower - realized this again now in 2019 with our first big snowfall. My machine started right up and ran more smoothly than it has in the past couple of years. Easy appointment process last Fall, with driveway pick up and delivery seamless. Reasonable price. THANKS!
Great place with very knowledgeable staff. Treated me well and good prices. Would recommend.
I am a grass cutting business owner that just purchased another piece of equipment from VOPEC. This is the second piece of equipment that I have purchased this year. I use commercial mowers, preferably Scags. I purchased a 61 inch Scag, zero turn rider, from Ed at the Springfield store. Ed did an excellent job of explaining all the features of the machine and knowing what kind of machine I needed for my business. He was extremely helpful and did a great job. I appreciate the honesty and the knowledge he displayed. Would recommend him to anyone.
ALWAYS GREAT PRICES AND excellent inventory
Had a really great experience here. They were professional and straight forward. Front desk was kind and delivered all the important information efficiently. Great communication. I cant comment to the mechanics as I didnt end up having the repair done however they seem like a very good business and I would recommend them to a friend who needed a small motor repair.
One of my worst service experiences ever. Brought back a gas Stihl chainsaw for repair. They said they couldnt repair and recommended I buy a new one. When I got back the old machine there were parts missing. Looks like it was cannibalized. Never again will I come back here.
Friendly staff. Always have the tools I need to keep my landscape business running.
I had an ancient electric chain saw fixed here. I try to support local businesses as much as possible. And if youre in Fairfax Virginia, theyre wonderful, and YOU should shop there!!
This location is obviously set up to handle commercial accounts and wholesale business, and also sell to the retail public. I purchased parts for repairing my personal mower. The worker was knowledgeable, direct and quick to return with my parts from the back room. I dont need a smile or howdy partner to buy some parts; and didnt get it. OK with me. Their prices are high, but the quality of the product lines they carry is commercial grade. You get what you pay for. I cannot speak to the quality or price of their service side. But, their selection of equipment and high end accessories & tools is impressive.
Great customer service, was my first time
Excellent products and service. Pricey.
Good staff, good products
I took my Honda lawn mower to Virginia Outdoor last October 2016 to clean up and store for winter. The shop charged me $240. I took it out to start up for the spring last week and it could not start. Brought it back and they said that it sill cost me another $160 to repair. I should have bought a new mower. This guy did not fix my mower and wanted more money. I will not set my foot to this shop again. I am seeking to file a complaint with the Virginia consumer. Virginia Outdoor Power Equipment is not trust worthy and rip you off. They did not fix the mower and charged an additional $40 for an estimate to the problem that they have never done and keep charging more and take your money. BE CAREFUL WITH THESE GUYS.
Recently I called to schedule an appointment to bring my snow plow in for service. I was told that I would need to pay a $140 to get an appointment and that payment would be applied to any work that was performed. I agreed and scheduled the appointment. On the morning of the appointment I called to reschedule the appointment due to an emergency that came up. I was told that I would forfeit my deposit and that I would need to pay an additional $140.00 to schedule a new appointment. Grumbling I hung up but called back in a few minutes. I let the tech know I was really upset. NO one had mentioned these terms when I called to schedule the initail appointment.
VOPE is aimed at professionals. High quality, commercial-grade equipment and supplies, and the ability to service them. Salespeople are very knowledgeable (but dont expect them to be able to explain the features differences between consumer-grade equipment and commercial-grade). VERY highly recommended, if youre buying professional products. If you want cheap garbage, go down the street.
Some customer service lessons would go very far with this company. Everyday, service should notify the front desk about equipment coming out of service so that the owners may make payment and schedule delivery or pick up.Delivery of equipment should be with a simple towed trailer and pick up truck. The box truck they have is prone to needing service and so delivery is usually delayed. A simple fix but perhaps a bridge too far.If you decide to use them, expect a 2 week + turn around time. Not too bad but expect a delay. Overall work is outstanding even with this factored in.
Went very well
Poor customer service and unprofessional group of people behind the desk.
Products of the highest quality. Good service as well. Only downside is that it is somewhat pricey.
Useful made a great suggestion
Fantastic service. Quick 10 minute fix . Ill be back.
Wish I had read the reviews first...took two chains saws there because they were running badly...4 months later I get them back and they ran the same...after paying them 330 dollars...took them back again, and they wanted 80 more dollars. great place to buy new...but have a worm fix your tools and save your money...no I did not give them any more of my money!
Love the toys
The man took my trimmer and troubleshot it fixed it (not much wrong) and charged me 0. Yes!!
Good
Bought a new mower here. Explained how much area I had to mow and got a good honest recommendation from the sales person for a modestly priced mower. They were able to get a much better price than MSRP and cheaper than places online were offering too. They set up the mower for me and made sure it ran then brought it out and even offered to help load it up for me.I also dropped off my fathers lawnmower for repair and the process was quick and simple. He says they do good work, but Ive been lucky enough to not need any repairs yet.Definitely seems geared towards professional landscapers and arborists here, but everyone was friendly and professional. Id definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a step up from what they offer at big box retailers.
I dropped my riding mower off on March 3 and it took 5 weeks to get looked at after promising it in 3 weeks. I had to constantly call to get them to complete the job as they appear to focus on high volume professional landscaper clients. They said a front tire was worn, so I opted not to have it replaced. When I picked it up, the tire was flat. It would have taken another week to fix. When I got home and attempted to start the mower a day later, the battery was dead. After fixing the battery and tire myself, I got two more mows in before the chain came off the gear box. I will definitely not be coming back here for more service.
These guys are cool and will help you with parts. I have picked up many items needed here for small engine parts.
I have been working on restoring a Bonanza Minibike from the 1960s, and needed some wheel bearings. The only problem is that no one local seemed to have any, and all the auto parts stores that could get them wanted to charge over $40 each!I rang up V.O.P.E., and described the bearings I needed, gave him the measurements on them, and he asked me to wait. A minute later he was back, and said they had TEN of them in stock. The price was a whopping $5 each. They bagged them up, and even wrote up the sales ticket in advance so I could swing by on my way to work, buy them, and be out the door quickly so I wouldnt be late to work.Great service, and good at helping you find parts you need! I didnt look at pricing on any of the power tools they had (and they had some crazy looking stuff, including a chainsaw with a bar about 48 long!), but they definitely had a wide selection of big name brands!
VOPE has great equipment so the sales side of their business is pretty good. The service, however, is as bad as the other reviews indicate. I took a lawn vacuum in to have two bolts extracted. They inserted helicoils and then installed the muffler on backwards. They also rewound the recoil starter and cleaned out some debris. After three weeks, it was out the door for $226. After removing the muffler to put it on correctly, I tried to start the machine after the mechanic noted that it “starts and runs well” to find it immediately stalls with any throttle manipulation and the pull cord won’t retract without some fiddling. Not wanting to have the same experience that others have had going back in for service, I called a local mechanic who quickly diagnosed the choke issue and corrected it on the spot - not after three weeks. I would consider going back for new equipment sales but can’t envision any scenario where I would use their service department again. If you’re in the Annandale/Springfield area, call Master Mechanics and save some some money and grief.
Shady repair work.Had my snow blower serviced last year and they didnt connect the choke pin so I couldnt use the blower after a snow storm last year. After they fixed it again this year they left the gas tank cover almost open and I had gas spilled in the car on my way back.
Good hours, helpful staff. Since theyre good, theyre busy (going to take 2 weeks to get my chainsaw tuned)
They do a very good job. Expensive though.
We have spent over $800 servicing on our lawn tractor with Virginia Outdoor power and it still doesnt start. We had them service our snow blower over the summer (for $300), just went to use it and the belt is completely loose making it inoperable. We have no way of removing snow. Very disappointing and a big waste of money. We are done using this company.
We bought a push $1,300 push mower, in 4 weeks we used it three times and then the traction belt got broken, brought back to VA outdoor equipment and they told me they will fix it under the warranty. But when I went to picked it up they bill me for $86.00 when ask why? there was a old rude man name Allen and a very rude way he told the push mower fail because of operator error. I tough he was kidding me, but not. I think they should called me if the warranty wont cover it, and will put the belt my self. I strong will recommend to stay away from this place at least until they get better costumer service people. Again that guy Allen has no clue how to deal with costumer. Dont waste your money, avoid this place.
Q.Can you put a tire one rim?A. Yes come on inUpon entering... you have to buy the tire from us 89+install so about 120...
Go see Gabriel for any equipment, most knowledgeable machine junkie I know.
Worst place to buy equipment, bad customer service..
Great Staff, good prices on better quality lawn and garden equipment
Dealt with Manny great service!Several poor star ratings from folks who should hire a lawn service company instead 😏
I bought a new chain saw from this store. it wasnt working properly from beginning. finally after couple back and forth and talking with stihl company they admitted that they have to change some part including carburetor. unfortunately I tried to use it couple days age after fixing but having problem to start. I went back and asking to replacing because it is under one year warranty but they didnt accept that. the bottom line is I am very frustrated and it would be better to go to Home depot or Lowes to purchase equipment rather than this local store because they are staying behind the warranty and taking care of customer.
Easy to find. Had the equipment I wanted at a good price.
Dead end since I was looking for used equipment, they didnt have it, they just want y sell me new equipment.
Pretty good, pretty reliable, worth the trip distance to get there.
Negative stars. Sold screws for $4.99 each, which Home Depot sells for 45 cents. It took me 4 phone calls to get them to return them, and after restocking and shipping charges I lost half my money. I dont even know why I came here in the first place.
I frequented here a lot (Not Anymore). I buy a chain saw and it breaks down 2 days after using it. It should be covered under the 3 month warranty for gasoline powered chain saws. Turns out they want to charge me 80.00 for the repair that is supposed to be covered by the warranty. After looking at their other reviews, I can tell you that their business practices are questionable and they arent honest individuals.Wont return again! Terrible Customer service...
Great service competitive pricing
Good
Great place to bring your lawnmower quick service
Staff is very knowledgeable and there are a plethora of items to choose from.
Friendly Staff and Good Selection of Products
This place is a complete rip off, the guy at the counter wont give me any advice or information, after dropping off the trimmer, they called me to tell me its not worth repairing, why wont they tell me that before dropping it off and charging my credit card??? if its not for the wait I would have taken it to Home Depot instead.
Great products and service!
Unknowledgeable, unfriendly and unhelpful staff. If you leave tools for repair, expect a long wait with no real estimate of how much time it will take. For my chainsaw repair, they took a significant deposit upfront and refused to give me any idea of whether it was even worth looking at. Got no information or help calling in over weeks to check on status of repair.
Purchased a saw that was defective and had to return 4 times to have the problem addressed. This company has terrible customer service.
Ordered parts for lawnmower ...told us to call back in 4 weeks to see if part has come in...they never even ordered it...not very nice employees
The worst.. stay away from them, customer service sucks, nobody cares, store manager has no clue.
The people is good and has good price
A nice professional garden/lawn tool store.
