This place is a gem. Great selection of rough cut hardwoods (and softwoods too). I got beautiful curly maple, cherry and walnut here. Plan to get some nice cedar in the coming months to build outdoor furniture. Prices are great. People are great. This is the sort of wood youll work by hand and enjoy every minute.

Owner was extremely helpful and knew his inventory hey well. When you go in, the dimensional lumber is in the back of the store. The front is only hardwood flooring. Tons of selection, reclaimed lumber available as well

I just left this store, Vienna Hardwoods. There was a guy behind the desk that seemed pleasant enough. He asked me what I was looking for. I told him and he had another gentleman help me out. This other gentleman was one of the rudest individuals Ive ever encountered. They had what I was looking for but this guy was so rude, I just walked out without buying it.

Sometimes going to big lumber yards are intimidating. This shop is very friendly and wonderful place to grab some rough lumber. Some nice white oak, walnut, maple. Need 4/4? 6/4? They got it! Small peaces and big peaces!Prices? Very good. Go visit its such a nice place.

The place is the best sources for woodworking lumber in the Virginia metro areas!Not organized well but more than worth the effort to find beautiful, low priced lumber and flooring. Have been going there for 12-15 years, and highly recommend it!

A treasure trove of beautiful woods. We were looking for pieces for wood turning. They were very friendly and helpful, and we came out with some beautiful pieces.

John runs a great little lumber store. It is a little disconcerting when you enter - things are piled literally *everywhere* and it is a bit of a mess. But there are some real gems to be found. This isnt the place to go to get 200 board feet of red oak. But if you are looking for some great reclaimed barn wood, or a few pieces of choice figured cherry, this is it.

All that is gold does not glitter. If you want to travel back to 1984, take a tour of this cramped, but quaint dusty old store. Lumber to the roof, prices by the foot. Knowledgeable staff with a friendly demeanor. A photojournalists dream shoot. Prices are what they are, but good wood isnt cheap.

John the owner is the real deal. His selection is constantly changing and his prices cant be beat. This is my new go to for exotics.

Needed some Cedar for a outdoor project. Called three lumber yards and one was twice the price of John and didnt have the lumber in stock. I called John and he talked to me about my use and gave me recommendations on a slightly lower cost (but stronger) cut of cedar suitable for my needs. He delivered promptly and professionally. All lumber was in great shape with only a couple pieces I had to work around due to blemish or warp. I also needed an emergency second order on a Saturday. I called talked to John again and he had my lumber to me the same day. Would highly recommend for your lumber needs!

John has been very helpful with our special order wood and stair nosing. His pricing is competitive and he always makes every effort to answer all calls and questions.

DO NOT SHOP HERE. I can email anyone photos of the work that was completed by Vienna Hardwoods in my new home so you can be your own judge as to whether any potential cost savings are worth it. Below is the email to the owner who did not wish to negotiate final payment other than to say, since Vienna Hardwoods underestimated the flooring bundles and adhesive (2 bundles of 3/4 inch red oak and 2 gals of adhesive for gluedown), we could cancel out the new closet door that was damaged.Below is a complete and accurate description of the services provided by Vienna Hardwoods:Schedule - I was told four (4) days to complete work by the estimator and owner, John Sliney. Work was completed in sixteen (16) days (not including ordering materials and schedule for those who might wonder). Delays forced me to reschedule other services for my home such as Air Duct Cleaning, Home Cleaning, and Moving services which were all previously scheduled.Installation - My wife and I were satisfied with the installation for both glue down in basement and nail down flooring on main level to match existing red oak. While slow, he showed up on time, was friendly, and cleaned up well after himself. I am happy to provide Garys direct number.Refinishing - My wife and I are completely unsatisfied. If it were not for the fact that we needed to get into our new house to avoid being homeless, I would have removed them from my property and found a different refinisher on short notice. As you can imagine, its incredibly difficult to take a hard stance when someone is in your home and you cannot be there to oversee their work because you are working so its a careful balance of not insulting them to the point of them doing additional damage to your home and hoping theyll do a halfway decent job. Thanks to the flooring crew from Vienna Hardwoods, I now have to do the following:Purchase a new closet door since the door was damaged (assume it was hit with a sander).Pay a painter to touch up all paint throughout my house (walls and baseboards).Pay a cleaning company for entire house but to also deep clean a completely renovated bathroom which was spotless prior to their arrival. Why did they need to put their equipment on our brand new tile floor and in our bathroom? Also, why did one of them poop in our bathroom and leave a poop stain in new toilet bowl? Why is their a 1/8 inch of dust through my new bathroom and the rest of our house?Cut and Stain missing shoe molding in kitchen since I will not ask these guys to come back to my house ever.Live with In-Laws - while no monetary cost, its a huge inconvenience from both location to work and getting settled in new home.Pricing - offered the best pricing on the flooring (materials) we wanted in the basement of our home. While not the cheapest, his labor rates were within the range for this DMV area based on other quotes I received and were slightly below average. I wanted to use one company exclusively rather than GC the floor components myself to save money. Big mistake. (I guess I get what I pay for, but looking back, I would have happily paid 5 times to not have the cleanup job I have ahead of me).Overall - As it stands now, I will not recommend Vienna Hardwoods for anything. Given the delays in schedule, I am now forced to live with in-laws while my home is professionally cleaned and the odor from the stain leaves the house. As my wife mentioned the owner over phone, our 1 year old son was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis so his health is our top priority when it comes to anything we do. If work had gone as scheduled, we would have had the time to let the odor leave the home (over a week) and could have still had a cleaning company come in to complete the cleaning and a painter come in to touch up some spots. As it stands, I have a considerable amount of work which must be completed and am more inconvenienced by not being in my home and into a routine for my family and more importantly my sons therapies.I do not recommend this company. I am more than happy to email photos.

Very friendly folks, helped me find some thin plywood and veneers for my laser cutting project, and even cut the wood down to size for me to fit in my car too!
